NeverSink's itemfilter - version 7.2.0 - new Style (crimson), vastly improved tiering and more

This update was quite a bit of time in the making, but it delivers a lot of features - a new Style (Crimson!), Prophecies and Scarabs now have advanced tiering, similar to all other tierlists. Tiering in general has been improved a lot, by reworking and improving some of the guided automation. I also tried to implement a lot of smaller improvements, different community members were asking for. In short - I hope you guys enjoy it!

On top of that, we've also improved www.filterblade.xyz quite a bit! It now has a TierList page and some other goodies. /u/tobnac will list those in the comments!

Next update will focus upon crafting improvements and potentially a PoE-Account-bound save system (maybe?).

    CHANGELOG:

    • Added a new Style: Crimson

    • Adjusted the following tierlists to better match the current economy: uniques, divination cards, unique maps, fossils, incubators, shaper/elder rares.

    • Did significant improvements to the Shaper/Elder tiering algorithms. This adds another layer of accuracy and is a precurser to a better rare and crafting base tiering system.

    • Added prophecies and scarabs to the tiering lists and designed a tiering strategy for them. They will be retiered during every update in the future, same as the lists above

    • Improved Veiled item highlighting. Added a special category for expensive member exclusive veiled items (currently: "Catarina's Veiled" "Elreon's Veiled" "Leo's Veiled" "Rin's Veiled" "Vagan's Veiled" "Vorici's Veiled") and for all other member-specific veiled items and. A special thanks to /u/FunRoom for the helpful reddit thread.

    • Random veiled items no longer have a dropsound

    • Random veiled items are now hidden on uberstrict

    • Random bestiary rares are now hidden on uberstrict

    • Retiered incursion vials

    • Improved identified rare item filtering by better treating high dexterity/strength/intelligence rolls (thanks to StarRune)

    • Added a Buzzsaw identified rare item filtering entry (thanks to StarRune)

    • Added special highlight for unique jewels (cobalt, viridian, crimson). Each of them has a chance to drop an expensive and rare version (such as inspired learning). Unique jewels now have a little blue star as a map icon. The mapicon/beam color is used for items that have a low chance to be very expensive and require manual checking.

    Filter and Styleversions

Strictness-es are filter configurations the affect how much/little a filter shows. The general rule is that: as you clear faster, you want to pick up less, because in the time you'd take care of a higher quantity of items, you can kill more monsters and get a higher chance at rare loot. You can start with Regular/Semi-Strict first (great for new players and leagues) and simply up the strictness from the option menu, once you feel like you want to see less.

    Nr Name Short Description
0 Soft Shows too much. Includes low crafting bases, magic jewellery in the endgame. Not recommended for regular gameplay.
1 Regular Shows a lot. Recommended for beginners, new leagues and slow-clearing gameplay. Shows all rares. Good for chaos recipes.
2 Semi-Strict Healthy balance. Great for new leagues and beginners and medium-speed endgame gameplay. Hides the worst rares. Good for chaos recipes.
3 Strict Hides bad-base rares and scrolls. Universal and recommended endgame strictness. Hides random gems (hold alt in the first zone if you level with it). Bad for chaos recipes.
4 Very Strict Hides most rares, scrolls, augments, armourers. Good for the endgame and for speed-farming.
5 Uber Strict Hides all low currencies and rares. Great for quantity-farmers.
6 Uber+ Strict Shows too little. Sterile screen. Hides all kind of stuff, including mediocre divination cards, all kind of crafting material etc. Recommended for speed-clearing quantity-parties or as a base for further editing. Not recommended for regular gameplay.

Styles have no effect on how strict the filter is, but change the visual and audio configuration. Find one that pleases your eye most or make your own on www.filterblade.xyz

    Style Description
Default The normal style. It uses a wide variety of colors and shadings to inform users about the drop type, value and properties.
Slick A less colorful version of the normal style.
Gaia (full restyle) Gaia is a nature-inspired style. It uses less colors, but is still very cheerful.
Vaal (full restyle) A brick, corruption, blood and gore styled filter.
Crimson (full restyle) Dark red hues, with some blues and purples in there. Similar to the Vaal filter, but different.
Velvet (full restyle) Soft green, blue, grey and pink hues, this filter is inspired by oceanic and royal colorsets.
Blue Minor changes. Changes the color of rares to blue.
Purple Minor changes. Changes the color of rares to purple.
    Azurite A new (experimental style) - it's like a DOUBLE purple/cyan style!
CustomSounds Special style. The visuals are based of default, but the sounds are different and are provided in mp3 files. You have to copy the mp3 files too for the filter to work. You can also replace the sounds with your own mp3's to create your own soundset.

In Pursuit of Currency - Using a Hierophant for Farming Glaciers

    Posted: 05 Aug 2019 12:20 PM PDT

TL;DR: You can pop legion bosses out of stasis with Hierophant consistently with little investment with just one Vaal Ice Nova.

    Video

I don't know if anyone has discussed this before, but I thought I would mention it as an option.

So the obvious choices for a Vaal Ice Nova Glacier farming build are usually Assassins and Inquisitors, in terms of Ascendancies. In reality you could do it on almost any build that makes it convenient to do spell crit in the top half of the tree. Hierophant is a bizarre choice as doesn't really meaningful interact with Spell Crit. What Hierophant does do, which isn't entirely always obvious, is that it does on-kill effects well. Legion, like delve, and breach, is a huge for on-kill effects. Crit isn't a hard problem to solve for a build starting in the top half of the tree, so choosing Inquisitor or Assassin only solves a fairly easy problem.

Choosing Hierophant means we spend more investment in getting crit and crit multi, but in return we get 2000-3000% increased damage on the outskirts of our Vaal Ice Nova. Increased damage isn't nearly as useful as More damage modifiers, but we make up for it by stacking an incredible amount of it.

The way we get increase damage is a single Ascendancy node and perhaps one of the best on kill effects in the game.

Pursuit of Faith: 6% increased Damage per Enemy Killed by you or your Totems Recently

A legion consists of 200+ or so mobs, and so a single Ice Nova will bring your Pursuit of Faith numbers to 200-400 for a short amount of time, just about the same amount of time it takes for Vaal Ice Nova to finish.

6% * 400 = 2400%, if we add in some extra mobs from strong boxes, breaches, and whatever the glacier has for us in terms of regular mobs, its pretty easy to get 400 to 500 kills fairly easy with one Ice Nova.

So the way Vaal Ice Nova works is that it spreads from mob to mob with AoEs, giving time in between mobs, for our damage to increase as it kills things in a nova that spreads from our central location inside the legion. This means that, as our kill count increases, and the nova spreads, its doing more damage. Therefore, the mobs, including bosses, on the outskirts take the most damage. This means we can consistently pop bosses out of stasis with just a single Vaal Ice nova.

There are certainly other builds, like a high end Cyclone builds, that can clean up a legion just as well, boss included. The idea with the Hierophant is to do it cheaply and with just a single Vaal Ice Nova.

Hierophant also comes with a few extra bonuses.

Conviction of Power: for Power Charge and Endurance Charge generation, and a little elemental penetration.

From Illuminated Devotion: we get extra spell dmg, 25% increased AoE, and spell dmg life leech.

From Arcane Blessing: we get Arcane surge all the time

Some of the other things I use:

For my build I also use a very cheap Wyrmsign with ele weakness on hit corruption, this also gives me rampage when I have max Endurance charges, which I do thanks to Conviction of Power or a timely Enduring Cry.

I used a basic Herald of Ice setup that gives me Frenzy charges from Ice Bite.

I used a Berek's Grip for life and mana leech. I also shock thanks to the Lightning Spell dmg.

The most expensive item I used is a fancy +2 socketed cold gems 6-link staff, but it really isn't necessary. I was able to pop bosses out consistently with just a decently rolled 6-link spell staff. My guess is you could do it with a decent staff and a 5 link on your chest or staff, though 6-links at this point in the league are pretty cheap.

You can look at my character here. Other than the staff, everything is pretty cheap. I use Atziri's Splendor for a chest, for easy coloring, on kill effects, and decent armour/life/res.

I want to say that I planned all this from the beginning but in reality I just wanted to make a Vaal Ice Nova glacier farming and only had a Hierophant on hand. The first time I popped a boss out of stasis with 50c in gear, I was wondering if it was a bug. What I noticed is that mobs on the outskirts stay frozen for long periods of time, way past what was normal. It took me an embarrassing long time to figure out what was happening.

You can see what I mean here: Video

Around the :25 second mark you can see mobs that have been frozen for 10 seconds or more. They aren't dead because they were still in stasis, but the freeze from the initial Vaal Ice Nova still has them frozen.

One thing you also learn, is that if you break out every mob the stasis time ends earlier, as you can see in the videos I linked to here.

It helps to throw in any extra map mods that give extra mobs. So if you're working breach, you can throw in a rusted breach scarab, pop the breach, then pop the legion, and Vaal Ice Nova. This will only give you extra damage. You can do the same with strong boxes, or whatever else adds more mobs.

This really isn't anything huge, I mean most people would probably still pick Assassin as their go to class, but I found it helpful in getting the max out of my glacier farming with the least investment.

Here is a pastbin of the character. I have it set to 200 kills recently, which is actually a super low estimate.

    Pastebin for PoB.

I've been thinking about adding Rarity or some Quanity to the build, but honestly, I spend too much time picking up crap as it is. I sustain maps by switching between Glaciers and Leylines, which isn't ideal, but leylines actually work really well, as its a small, circular outdoor map.

Thanks for reading if you've made it this far! If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment. I'm certain other builds can show similar results. The point of this build was to do it with relatively little investment.

Probably the most frustrating craft I've ever had to deal with..worth it.

Played all leagues since Abyss, but havent surpassed T12 maps. Completely satisfied with my experience thus far, anyone else?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2019 06:55 AM PDT

I play POE each League and really enjoy the game. However, in all the time I've played, i've never once even encountered a red elder, let alone Gaurdians, Shaper, Uber Elder etc. I just really enjoy playing my characters up to around Tier 8 maps, before i reroll. Perhaps this is because I play around an hour in 3 days on average but somedays for hours on end, solely for recreation to relax my mind and hence dont want to invest the time to learn all this complicated crafting and damage scaling mechanics. My highest ever was a level 91 raider i took to T12 maps. I just really enjoy mindless grinding in POE, especially with the shatter sounds and the Herald of Iceplosions.

Just wanted to post this as I feel like this sub is generally full of players who know their stuff while I just learnt that my level 20 arcane surge is actually not ideal. Anyone else here plays POE casually?

I played in open beta under Garena and quit before returning to have around 500 hours on Steam, albeit with some AFK time. I've recently switched to Standalone as I've found performance to be way better. Since returning from open beta, I've played in all leagues since Abyss.

So apparently if you brick a few Timeless Jewels and then vendor them, you get back a Timeless craftable base. Cool...

[Info] I Just Found Out that Blind Still Works with 0 Evasion Rating, e.g. Iron Reflexes

    Posted: 05 Aug 2019 05:15 AM PDT

I was made aware by someone following my build (not even directly aimed at me but mentioned in conversation) that enemies can still miss if you have Iron Reflexes.

Yes, prior to 3.7 this was common knowledge due to the minimum 5% chance to evade. This minimum was removed with the changes to the accuracy system and the resulting 100% chance to hit.

Based on a comment Mark let slip (tried finding it, but didn't) about the accuracy system, I thought (and apparently many others) that Blind would no longer halve the chance to hit because there's no Evasion Rating and you cannot evade, and thus also never not be hit.

    This is false.

I just hopped into the game and tried it myself with a single enemy and a Stibnite flask. A very safe environment for the experiment. No environmental factors, CWDT gem removed, nothing to go wrong, etc.

And yes, I could audibly hear the misses and watch him miss, as well as count no damage taken. I've done the test several times to be sure, with equal findings.

Conclusion: Using Iron Reflexes in combination with Blind still works, and the chance to be hit formula is a very straight forward 100/2 = 50% chance to be hit.

EDIT: Just for clarification: I just tested Unwavering Stance and the enemy will always hit.
