I updated delirium logo to better represent this league

    This is fine

For all the crap Delirium is getting, Cluster Jewels are some of the most interesting, well implemented, decision based gameplay I’ve ever experienced in the game.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 07:46 AM PDT

As a player who has never done any build experimentation, I find myself testing POB for the opportunity cost and figuring out which notables to chase, it's honestly super new and fun.

Delirium needs some tweaks (visual clarity, less on-death stuff, loot fixes) but is otherwise a solid attempt to slow PoE down. The rest is a perception problem by the community. You should not be expecting a 100% full-clear every time. It's supposed to be a "see how far you can get" event.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 04:41 AM PDT

EDIT: I just want to clarify what I mean with "slowing the game down." I don't mean content that is timed, what I mean is how mobs have extra HP now and can't be instantly deleted most of the time. They actually get to interact with us. That's good. That's what I expect in an RPG

I'm gonna go against the mob and say that I really like Delirium so far. I think it is a clear attempt by GGG to slow the game down a bit and add more danger to it. The problem is that some of the ways they did it was bad (on-death mechanics, lack of visual clarity, having to backtrack...) but overall I 100% agree with the direction GGG took this league.

I think the problem with taking this direction in PoE is that the players at this point are expecting to always be able to 100% clear and insta-melt things. That's not what Delirium is supposed to be, and I don't think that's what anyone of us really wants the game to be. It just feels weird shifting away from it like this, like we suddenly went from playing a god-like build to a zero DPS build.

But in the end this direction will make the game more interesting and rewarding. If GGG could address the following issues, I think reddit would eventually stop complaining and get used to playing the game differently:

    1) Less annoying on-death stuff

    2) More visibility would be.... nice

    3) Buff or remove some of the garbage rewards like weapons/armor/generic "gear". I've actually started insta-hitting Fast Forward when I see these

    4) Maybe something to help with looting

    5) A keybind for the Fast Forward button

I think if you could assess the risk (see #2) versus a good reward (see #3), and have the option to bail out when it got too scary (see #5), the league would feel a LOT better. (these suggestions were copied from this comment which I liked and based this post on)

    GGG when making this league

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 06:47 AM PDT

    Rank 5 dies to nothing

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 09:37 AM PDT

I'm something of an artist myself...

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 11:02 PM PDT

I had no idea the league wasn't fun until I came to reddit.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 07:05 AM PDT

Just leveled to 70 as Searing Bond Ascendant. It can't really be that bad, can it? I've been having a good time. I recommend just go play the game and you will be happier. SSF btw.

Having done a map with a delirium orb on it, it honestly feels like that's how the base league should feel

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 02:13 AM PDT

    -Entire map affected

    - No time limit or scaling hp/damage

    - Time to loot, interact with other league mechanics without getting punished or having to backtrack

    - Having time to actually get to and kill a delirium boss without him scaling his hp by 1000%, going through 1000 death effects like a rabid hyperactive flicker strike slayer just so nothing hits you and dashing through entire packs because they stop dying at some point

    - Feels rewarding because you can complete the entire map with delirium on it

I wish they would just make it so that opening a mirror would be equivalent of 10% baseline delirium from an orb for the rest of the map, and for juicier rewards you would use delirium orbs beforehand. It would also feel like a truly map focused league, every map being entirely affected by the mechanic if you choose to activate it. Scaling 3000 delve levels worth of hp and damage in a single map doesn't feel fun or rewarding.

"Path of Exile: Delirium - High-level gameplay" does not show all the BS that we are going through.

"Path of Exile: Delirium - High-level gameplay"

Just rewatched the video and realized that there are no Cast-on-Death stuff, no ground balls that spawn volatiles, no clusterfuck, offscreen attacks, superfast skills.

Why add all these frustrating things to the league when it was already well-received with the "high-level" gameplay video?

Damn it feels like its intentional to make us suffer

This league mechanic doesn't have synergy with basically nothing else in the game

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 04:46 AM PDT

So you pass through the mirror, and have a timer until it ends.

    • You found an Alva on the way? Just ignore and rush through it because if you enter the mist will fade.

    • You found Jun on the way? Oh nice let's kill the syndicate - they die - damn i need to go fast i can't stop and see the options right now I should go and finish map then go all the way back.

    • You found Zana on the way? Oh damn I can't check her right now, i must go fast and then go all the way back.

    • Theres an Einhar beast on the way? I need to go through if it takes too much time to kill it the mist will fade.

    • You found a Legion? Can't waste time on it need to go and come back later.

    • Some loot is dropping but I can't keep picking up everything i want because otherwise the mist will fade.

    • Found Cassia? Lol

The only mechanic that is fine is Niko.

Imo there should be no timer, you should just keep going until you can't handle it anymore and press the button on the bottom right. You know, the better your build the better the rewards, as it should be.

If the league stays this way I think people will lose interest of going back and forth every map. It simply doesn't fit the rest of the mechanics in the game the way it is right now.

    Thoughts?

How to properly do Delirium content.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 11:31 AM PDT

    Press F for Ziz again

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 11:24 AM PDT

Hey GGG, why should I risk potentially getting murdered in a T16 Delirium encounter for maybe 1-3 splinters when I clear 2/3 of the map (cause I probably can't kill the boss before the fog leaves) when I can just hop into a T1 Beach, walk to the boss, and collect my 2 splinters from him at no risk?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 02:28 AM PDT

Buff splinter rewards, also nerfing it to 300 instead of 100 was wack.

    My delirium experience

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 09:38 AM PDT

What concerns me the most, is that the same mistakes are seemingly endlessly repeated

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 11:28 PM PDT

    Low visibility
    One shot mechanics
    Bad rewards
    Backtracking
    Overtuned monsters
    Bad performance
    Picking up shit
    Time limit (edit)
    On-death effects (edit)

Did I forget something? I probably did...

One thing is having these kind of problems in a single league, another is having them in every single league.
Why won't GGG learn from their past mistakes?

Wouldn't it be better to completely get rid of the timer in delirium?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 07:21 AM PDT

The content is already challenging why is there a need for a timer at all?

Just give all maps perma fog (until you click the button) and allow us to take our time to pick up items (solves backtracking issue) and fight monsters (slows down gameplay in a good way).

That way you don't need to fix loot or lower the difficulty (apart from some of the more bs mobs)

    my delirium experience so far

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 07:40 AM PDT

One shots are an issue, but performance is making this league unplayable for me.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 03:16 AM PDT

I haven't seen too many threads about performance issues, but rather one-shots, and visibility issues; I can't speak for everyone, but personally this league is unplayable if I interract with the mirror.

As of this moment I have died 153 times, and I can easily say half, if not more are deaths due to lag.

Here Is a picture of my frames with the fog active in a map. The start of the FPS graph is before activating it, and the end where it stabilizes is me dying, and going back into the map.

Here Is a picture of my frames in the same map, but without the mechanic active. You'll see occasional, brief dips in frames, which generally happens if a big pack dies or so.

There are certain maps where it's not a huge issue, but in general whenever I pop the mirror and Delirium mobs start spawning, my FPS is tanked. The game will even freeze up occasionally if there's a lot of them, or I decide to gamble and open a breach with it active.
