Need Help Speed Running Bleed Bow Gladiator (League Start 3.13)

    Posted: 05 Jan 2021 03:16 AM PST

I played a bleed bow gladiator for the first time in the recent Flashback event and immediately fell in love with the build. I also took my time gearing and playing it and exploring the event content, and that left me with uniques like Rearguard that made the leveling process pretty smooth.

I would like to use the build again to race through the campaign when the new league starts, now that I'm familiar with how it works. But in practicing my run yesterday I noticed that trying to speed through has its rough patches - notably toward the end of A3 the build starts to get a bit squishy, and by the end of A4 Malachi is almost one-shotting me.

I've tried getting better gear from vendors and my resists are about 50+, so I don't think either of those are the problem. I'm not sure if the uniques I used last time had a big impact on my survivability, but if anyone has tips I'd love to hear them, especially a self found approach (ie bench or vendor crafting, since it's the league start and trade currency will be tight).

For reference, here is the build I'm using. It worked really well for me so I'd like to keep it as is, at least until I make little tweaks in the end game, but let me know if there are gear tweaks you recommend.

I was planning on playing molten strike, but apparently thats dead and heavily nerfed. What other face tanky and forgiving builds are viable these days?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 01:28 PM PST

Pretty much just the title. Looking for that immortal DPSing while I stand in the bosses slam kind of experience. I've been digging around and have seen some various ignite builds that look pretty interesting but not really the same play style as molten strike. What are the current tankiest builds out there? Ideally it would be a decent league starter as well but I'm not going to be picky.

Is max block bleed gladiator one of the strongest league starts? Is there stronger?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 04:06 AM PST

I was thinking about what to play for 3.13 and I keep flipping between cold dot trickster and max block bleed gladiator.

I figured I should make a pros / cons for what I see with regards to those two builds. If you suggest one that can match or outperform them, it'd be awesome if you could do the same. To me? Everything says bleed gladiator is the best choice. I cannot think of a stronger league start that is nearly guaranteed to take you to and through end game bossing on an SSF budget, and would love your opinion on a stronger one.

    Cold dot trickster pros:

    • Chill effect is really easy to apply with skitterbots / vortex / coldsnap
    • Doesn't need any specific uniques, but can definitely use them! Rime Gaze and Sirus helm are two big ones.
    • Can build defenses to your liking. Block/CI? Easy. Dodge? yep.
    • Elusive and quicksilver and silver flask means you are ZOOMING in maps
    • Patient reaper is absolutely insane for recovery in maps.

    Cold dot trickster cons:

    • Lower damage ceiling means you wont be doing more than 1m sirus dps (vortex+cold snap combined) unless you have some nutty gear
    • Bossing is really awkward because vortex and cold snap really affects your visual clarity. Lots of things on the ground can kill you, and you cant see shit.
    • Really kicks off with "trigger a socketed spell" craft
    • Not much defensive mechanics besides chill and ES regen when it comes to bossing...if you get hit you just kinda take it....

    Max block bleed gladiator pros:

    • 75/75 block before maps is an absurdly strong defensive layer. This means you can get away with so much bullshit. Heist door opens up to you getting blasted? Meh you shrug it off.
    • Doesn't need any specific uniques, but can definitely use them! Soul taker, ryslathas coil, etc.
    • Really easy to get "free" conditional resists (e.g. wear a shield) and easy access to life nodes near templar / Scion / marauder area.
    • Bleedsplosions means you need to use a skill once or twice per pack. You arent zooming like you have elusive but you can go fast.

    Max block bleed gladiator cons:

    • Really kicks off with a crafted elder axe. Multimod or jagged fossil spam to get there. I think a 300 p dps axe to a 250 p dps elder axe was a huge dps upgrade for me.
    • No real source of sustain. Blood rage doesnt do much, vitality doesnt do a whole lot...You basically get some regen from skill tree and thats it. Degens can sometimes fuck you up.
    • Crimson dance means you need to be on the boss constantly for high dps uptime. This isnt necessarily a bad thing, since not knowing where the boss is, is pretty dangerous...
    • Not getting bleed explosions until uber lab kinda sucks. And if you DO opt for bleed explosions early, have fun mapping without any spellblock.
    • DPS without any special gear is kinda capped at out at like 500-750k without minmaxing and getting absurd gear. Its not much, but its enough for end game. But it really is not much....

    Off-meta league starters

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 08:13 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I know it's pre-patch, so it's all hypothetical (and maybe premature), nonetheless I'm curious about some uncomon league starter builds. I'd like some ideas, because I did poisonBV the couple last leagues, but I heard nerf might be coming for that, plus I want to change a bit, and same reason for not going ED/C trickster (although I lnow how solid it is).I'm not so much a minions' fan, so I didn't deeply investigate into those kind of builds.

So far I found as interesting potential league starters :

    • Divine Ire Totem - Hierophant
    • Righteous Fire - Inquisitor
    • Purifying Flame - Miner

I also tried Divine Ire inquisitor as a Kamehameha style, but as a league starter, I don't think it's that good.

    Any ideas exiles ?

Edit : Wow didn't expect that much replies, thank you all for this ! I was wondering what to go with in my poor 3 choices list, now I'm even more confused as to what to start with, because of your awsome propositions !
But I'm pretty sure people are gonna find this usefull too, so keep it going if you want to put your opinion and your original build/take into this !

Can someone help me with my Baron Zombie and Spider build

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 09:59 PM PST

    https://pastebin.com/TP9DMbVD

I am pretty sure zombies have high single target dps, like 500k - 1 mil yet my zombies are at 23k each. What can I do to increase the damage?

    Essence Drain League Start?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 12:06 PM PST

I haven't played PoE for probably over a year now, but one of the last builds I played was an essence drain build I believe, and I remember it being fairly satisfying when it would chain.

Would Essence Drain be a good league starter for the upcoming league? If so, which/whos build do you recommend?

Could someone please review this Cobra Lash Dagger (Bino's) build that i intend to use for league start?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 11:42 AM PST

Hello everyone and thank you for reading. I am complete noob when it comes to poison and cobra lash builds. Never played anything from the right side of the tree yet, apart from toxic rain.

Decided to spice things up for this league start (unless patch notes make me change my mind, but i don't think cobra lash is on the radar to get changed).

Now i know cobra lash ain't nothing special as a league start and evasion builds are prone to frustration but i want to keep trying new things and i think this will be at least decent.

Now, i really need your help in determining if this SSF HC build that a friend gave me https://pastebin.com/eCfnPkEA is good for 3.12 since it isn't really updated by a veteran (i updated the tree a bit).

Seems like he went all out for HP, i'm gonna play this on SC trade. He still has problems with accuracy which i believe can be solved with a few extra levels but wanted to know if the tree is optimal or not and if there's something that i'm doing wrong or i could do better.

    Also small questions like:

    • How expensive is bino's kitchen knife in day2?
    • What clusters should i aim for ? Min-maxed setup would be nice but that's probably not happening in the first week of league and thus, at first, i'm only interested in cluster passives that improve the build by a lot.
    • are the supports good ? what should i prioritize for a 4l and then a 5l?

How much AOE for Glacial cascade to overlap?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 10:24 AM PST

I am planning on GC totems as my starter (conditional on patch notes, etc). In a lot of videos and posts people talk about getting extra AOE so the bursts overlap, but I've never seen how much AOE is needed for bursts to overlap. Concentrated effect gives a ton of damage, but that is counter to the AOE strategy. Does anyone have calculations on this?

Looking for a build to teach me fast leveling

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 10:27 AM PST

I'd like to reach mapping (or whatever endgame becomes) faster than I have in the past, starting with the new league.

In the past few leagues I've gotten one character to 90-95, usually just playing a single character through mapping and trying a new endgame achievement each time. My goal now is to get better at speeding through acts.

Open to any kind of build. I've had good success with minions and ED+Contagion, and I like being tanky too.

Whats a better league starter for beginners?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 01:28 PM PST

Not asking for specific builds, but I was wondering whether I should go for a easy clear mapping build or a quick labrunner build. I don't know much about lab enchants and what to look for, but with a guide or just browsing through the trade site, I could probably figure it out.

The other option would be a quick mapper, which can generate currency through mapping. I know this is a very subjective question so I guess I'm asking more about your personal experiences.

    Thank you!

    EQ Fire Dot Inquisitor

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 05:20 AM PST

    Hello !

Until now i always followed some guide/video to build my character and since one of mechanics that please me the most was the dot damage (tried bleed EQ/Bow and Poison BV) i wanted to make my own build with a skill i really liked (EQ) and fire dot, because... I imagine that as some kind of magma strike :D

Anyway... I played around with PoB and i think it's utterly BS... So either i'm really bad and i didn't understand a thing of what i'm doing (most likely this, to be honest) or Fire Dot with EQ and Inquisitor isn't a good match at all...

I read about the fire damage, burning damage and aliment damage an the wiki, but it seems that i still don't get it...

So is this kind of build possible/viable? And if yes do you have some advise/pointer on how i can try to make it?

My poor attemp in pob : https://pastebin.com/bMpxqA0B

    Thanks for your time!

    Storm brand assassin league start

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 05:14 AM PST

    Hi there,

I wana start with a build that has great scaling so I don't level again rest of league. I saw a couple of storm brand guides, id rather not go archmage version but the usual assassin power charge stack.

My question is how well can you league start with this? I've played the new brands so I'm used to the playstyle and I mostly play caster so I have that going for me. Will yellows be easy enough with arguable dirt gear?

And if you have any tips/guides I'd appreciate it.

Is Armageddon Brand for Templar a viable option?

    Posted: 04 Jan 2021 05:34 AM PST

I'm trying to find a Templar build that focuses on Armageddon Brand, but all I find is chieftain/witch-builds.

Is AB + Hierophant a nice build, or am I barking up the wrong tree here?
