I miss incrementally crafting my own items

Rog is a cool dude, but... it's not the same as crafting your own gear incrementally.

    I miss it.

    Would anyone like sequel leagues?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:32 AM PDT

I think I would like to see a back to delve league, where some shit with nico happens and we are forced to start delving again but with a new map and reworked delves. We have a ton of content and leagues in the game. I think they just need to spice up some of the old ones that are really good. My top three that I want to keep in the game forever are delving, syndicate, and expedition. (Heist too if they actually make it easier to start I hate doing the green quests)

Edit: to clarify I think it's better to have 5 fleshed out leagues that are like their own side games that are rewarding and interesting rather than having 10 different leagues that you just end of skipping most of the time. They have more currency which is more annoyance and the more systems there are to learn the more gated the game becomes from new people. For most of them it's even pointless to learn when they are so unrewarding l.

Poison, Bleed and Ignite should have some type of indication of effect under the mob health bar just like Chill, Freeze and Shock does.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 04:39 AM PDT

Knowing the damage or DoT maybe in numbers like 1.6M signifying 1.6 million dps and possibly duration of the DoT as well.

Maybe it induces some performance issues and that's why it hasn't been implemented thus far but I've thoroughly enjoyed seeing Chill, Freeze and Shock indicators on monsters in 3.15. It probably being the best thing in the expansion personally.

Accumulation of leagues is hurting the game, rotating out leagues could be a possible solution.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 05:11 AM PDT

Accumulation of mechanics, uniques and skills from different leagues is the main cooperate for the power creep and makes the game feel bloated and unapproachable for newer players.

Chris often draws inspiration from games like magic the gathering (mtg). In magic you have different formats such as vintage and standard, the same is true for hearthstone that has standard and wild. Balancing a game that has a continues influx of new mechanics and options is incredible hard and will inevitably lead to significant power creep unless careful actions are taken to combat this.

Using a similar model to old mtg with a core set and rotating expansions would allow GGG to make very powerful and interesting uniques, skills and interactions without worrying about everything ever introduced to the game. In this model we would have a base game, with a more limited number of uniques and skills gem, currencies, crating options and on top we would have a limited number of the latest leagues active. Once a new league is introduced the oldest implementation is removed. This could also allow for thematic re-occurrences of old league mechanics into new leagues and allow GGG to reuse their content.

To me it feels like this was the initial idea of GGG with their expansions, however the fear of taking tings away from players in combination with now wanting to "waste" time used to develop new content has resulted that almost all uniques, crafting, currencies and interactions from all leagues are implemented and made available, resulting in the massive power creep we can observe over the last few years. This rotation system would also result in much larger and more organic meta shifts as some builds "disappear" due to uniques are rotating out rather than GGG just smashing stuff with the ban hammer.

There is so much stuff in the game that gives power that could just be rotated out instead of just generic wide nerf. If we have a look at some of the latest leagues and what they introduced that gives generic power creep. Then think if you only could have 3 of the at a given time.

    · Bestiary: Bestiary uniques, aspects and bestiary crafting.

    · Incursion: Incursion unqiues, incursion modifiers, double corrupt

    · Delve: Delve uniques. Fossils, delve mods

    · Betrayal Betrayal uniques, unveils, pure breachstones

    · Synthesis Syntheisis uniques, fractured and synthesis items

    · Legion Legion unqiues, timeless jewels

    · Blight Blight uniques, anoints (oils)

    · Methamorph Methamorph, catalysts (quality on jewelry)

    · Delirium Delirium uniques, cluster jewels

    · Harvest Harvest unqiues, harvest crafting, belt enchantments

    · Heist Heist uniques and replica unqiues, alternative quality gems, enchantments on weapons and body armor, new experimental base types

    · Ritual Ritual unqiues, new base types

    · Ultimatum Ultimatum uniques, veiled chaos orbs.

    · Expedition Expedition uniques

On top of this we have all the changes to the base game with, new influence types, maven orb, conqueror, sirus and maven uniques. Skill, ascendency crafting bench reworks.

In ritual I crafted a bow on synthbase (+1 to support gems), the using fossils and crafting bench to get it 48 quality before link it, then used fossils to get +1 st gems and +1 to ag gems, before finishing it up using harvest to remove a mod, and crafting benchs metamod to force +1 to all socketed gems. After that I used mulit mod and unveil modifier +2 to all support gems and dot multi to finish it off. This bow with a lvl 4 empower and a 21 CA allowed for gem lvl 31 CA with a bunch of high lvl awakened support. This craft used a combination prophecy, delve, betrayal, synthesis and harvest league resulting a ridiculous weapon. I used this example to illustrate how powerful combing different league mechanics can be and there are countless others.

Rotating out leagues would allow GGG to:

    · Reduce the power creep

    · To make much more powerful items and interactions

    · Have huge meta shift without swinging the ban hammer

    · Remove some bloating from the game

    · Get people excited about reintroducing old or parts of old content

Just some thought and sorry for the wall of text.

Would you contribute to moving the wiki out of fandom?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 07:13 AM PDT

    I think it's time.

By contribute I mean even the smallest edit or comment for missing/wrong information, not necessarily to be a curator.

I've been looking at ways to automate migrating the current contents, as-is, start data mining whatever can be data mined (need to fix PyPoe or find an alternative) and then manually updating the rest.

Without the support of the current admins, the only way to get it is either scraping or copy pasting. Scraping could give them grounds to shut the new wiki down so let's try to avoid that.

There's been quite some discussion recently around this. How do you feel about the current state of the wiki, both functionally and information wise?

Edit: also, would you prefer having it on a existing platform (wikia, etc) - which can one day turn into fandom and we're back to square one or a hosted option (I'm not sure how much it would cost to run it monthly, if it's not too taxing, I'm more than happy to offer to host it and commit to making it available if I ever cannot host it)?

Don't you think Logbooks are WAY too rare?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:41 AM PDT

I'm doing around 50-100 t14+ maps every day, skipping Rog entirely but doing everything else, always going for "increased chance to drop logbooks" remnants first and blowing as much remnants as physically possible every time. Best I got was 2 logbooks in one day, and there are days I get absolutely no logbooks. That seems a little bit too low, no?

As someone said here before, I get more heist blueprints and way more blighted maps than logbooks, that feels weird.

EDIT: I am doing it completely wrong, never mind, need to retest properly again

I can't help but be reminded of the downfall of Runescape when I read GGG's plans to alter the core gameplay.

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 07:56 AM PDT

I used to play Runescape back before the "evolution of combat" and played every day. They tested the changes and everyone hated them but Jagex was sure that this was the right direction, their vision of the game was not what everyone had been playing.

    It killed the game.

To try to salvage some money they started adding pay to win elements which push out even more but kept them for a while a steady income from the few whales left. There is always a sucker especially if they already feel invested before the change.

Eventually Jagex realized they needed new players and had to release a classic "oldschool" server which now is what the majority of players between the two and is the one most people know about at all. At first it was to remain classic but became player lead updates/balance because the playerbase no longer trusted Jagex to make decisions on their own game.

If GGG releases 1.16 and hasn't learned from the reception of 1.15 it might seriously be worth considering where eventually we want to see them start over from.

Would you, as a player, resign from tradeability of new Expedition splinters, replacing such benefit with azurite-like vacuuming them?

Just about to hit lvl 90 and aw5. Started with a toxic rain raider and i've switched to a cold sst. Got 3 expeditions logbooks from the same map today. No more wrist pain since i have my flasks on auto. Just enjoying the league at a steady pace i guess. League mechanic is rather nice, specially the logbooks, and i have found myself engaging much more in past league mechanics like breach and legion. Kekw
