I know that may be for most of you its nothing, but i just killed my first guardian in ssf :D.Just wanted to share.

Having to re-grind syndicate-specific recipes in standard is infuriating!

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 04:55 AM PDT

I got almost all the syndicate member specific recipes in Betrayal SSF (trigger socket spells on skill use, +2 to support etc.).

I no longer have them and have to regrind them!

Note that I do have a variety of the other jun related recipes, but NOT the syndicate member specific ones.

Quite frankly I've turned to ssf standard to get away from the shitfest that is Synthesis league and I find that even here I have to do stupid grinding because my progress was lost / is missing. However, it seems like GGG really want players to grind those syndicate recipes just because: RETENTION.

Can someone please chime in whether or not this is a general problem or just me?

So let me get this straight about Synthesis implicit crafting:

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 10:23 AM PDT

In order for me to create an item with a desire implicit, I have to:

    1. Consult https://poedb.tw/us/ItemSynthesisMods and read through the *thousands* of Synthesis mods to figure out which one I want. Let's say for this example, I want something simple like "maximum energy shield" on a pair of gloves.
    2. Next, I have to find the mod on the list: https://imgur.com/a/pPOuQkb Found it. That "150," to my understanding means all 3 pieces of gear I'm going to Synthesize have to have flat energy shield adding up to or over 150, correct? Still with me? Cool. Imagine how many people don't read Reddit & other sources like PoEDB and don't know how any of this works. GGG hasn't even tried to give information.
    3. After that, I have to annul/regal most of the mods on the gloves to ensure I don't get stuck with any other crappy implicit right? But there's still a chance to get an implicit other than what I want.

    ____

I can't believe the steps we're expected to take to go through with the crafting this League. I know a lot of the streamers and top tier players are having a blast with this, but Jesus Christ.

How is this intuitive? So convoluted.

Imagine how bad this would be if there wasn't a data-mined list of crafts like that.

    ____

I can't in good conscience recommend this game to new players. JFC, I feel bad for new players coming to play PoE during Synthesis league and having to go through all this.

Seeking scientists to test hypothesis: LGOH implicit on synthesized weapons

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 06:47 AM PDT

I have been toying around with the idea of a dual-implicit synthesized base for my HoAg build. But so far I have not been able to craft a weapon with the life gain on hit.

Hypothesis: You cannot synthesize weapons with the implicit modifier "+# life gained for each enemy hit by attacks"

    Exhibit A: http://poe.trade/search/hokumenareuron

There is just one item that is synthesized with the desired modifier on poe.trade. By comparison, there are 132 synthesized claws with implicit increased mana regeneration rate: http://poe.trade/search/udunaininohahu

Exhibit B: Before potentially ruining fractured claws off the market, I wanted to test my crafting method on some cheap 2H bases. The result for each of these synthesis processes was a message saying, "The operation could not be completed" : https://gfycat.com/acrobaticdemandingeasternnewt
    https://gfycat.com/GroundedConstantGraywolf https://gfycat.com/RelievedTanGoat

    Exhibit C: https://poedb.tw/us/ItemSynthesisMods

There are zero explicit modifiers that match the desired mod. "+# Life gained for each Enemy hit by Attacks"

On a side note"+# Life gained for each Enemy hit by YOUR Attacks" appears as an explicit mod for weapons even though it is not possible to get that mod.

    Conclusion

I have submitted a bug report, but I would like more evidence to support or disprove my hypothesis. https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2467514

Feedback of a longtime occultist player - Chaos Spells in 3.6

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 02:57 AM PDT

I started playing ED/Cont in Talisman, and promptly fell in love with it. Since then I have built more DoT oriented characters than I care to count, whether ED, CA, or even Blight. I lived through the consuming dark + decay dagger days, the +1 decay bow + soulstrike days (oh pre-nerf soulstrike, you were too fucking broken OP for this world), the decay dagger + shield + pathfinder poison days, etc, and outside of Delve and Betrayal where ED became CA due to the base damage changes (also CA doesn't care about profane bloom fucking over your contagion spread, but I digress), I have played at least one ED toon (mostly occultist, trickster is for suckers, Tarke, accept it) per league.

So here we go : HOW DOES CHAOS FEEL IN 3.6?

Short answer : THANK YOU GG OH THANK YOU IT FEELS AMAZING

    Long answer :

    A°) Leveling

You can now level as chaos dot and not feel bad about it. Like, really, used to be you needed to stack CA, ED, Blight, your totems, spreading rots, vaal lightning trap, and still feel like you should have just leveled as arc traps anyway. Leveling this league was surprisingly quick. This, of course, stems from a couple various things :

    • Multiple totems. This was added in delve, and makes wither stacking pretty much instant. Huge QoL for DoT builds.
    • Base damage boost. Well duh, if you deal more damage, stuff dies quicker. It's quick maffs.
    • Non-Ailment Chaos Damage Over Time Multiplier (hereafter referred to as NACDOT). Stat just feels strong, tbh, and its decent availability from early on in the game means the holes in your powercurve can be shored up somewhat easily.
    • Malevolence. It's just good. It fills the aura hole we have had as chaos dot mages since forever. Also makes playing CI and skipping on some stuff less justified, now that you really have enough shit to reserve 90% of your life and 99% of your mana.
    • Variety. Before, you just had CA and ED, and possibly Blight. Now, Bane & Soulrend come in. And as everyone knows, variety is the spice of life (or, in my case ES)

    B°) Early Mapping

Early maps felt a bit off this league, possibly because dense fossils and shav's and stuff are like 10 times more expensive than what I'm used to. Sucks for one's build to be meta I guess, but it's not like there weren't workarounds. Flora's Gift & Porcupine make getting an early 5L easy enough, which was sufficient to comfortably go into T9 (Cells) and T10 (Scriptorium) where I started farming/buying The Offering to get my shav's.

As always, the switch to pure ES + Soulstrike feels like shedding one's clothes & irontoed shoes to plop on the couch in boxers & t-shirt. FREEDOM! Game becomes insanely easier, as you suddenly go from "oh shit I feel weak" to "I AM A GOD, FEAR ME MORTALS". This, combined with the higher base damage on ED (and the availability of crafted +2 support / crafted NACDOT) made the transition from high-yellows to red/elder/guardians/shaper/uelder a LOT smoother than what I've known in previous leagues, where there was a power "wall" around T14, as bosses started to die a lot less quickly. Granted, the new stuff (malevolence, triple totems) also help a lot in that regard.

And once you switch to CI or LL, the lab becomes the easiest thing in the world, as wicked ward + soul strike means if you die in the lab, you've forgotten to turn your screen on.

    C°) Delving

I won't go in depth (because I don't have enough sulphite, lololol) but let's just say Occultist trivializes Delve so much that it's hard for me to comment on the skills. ED/Cont feels amazing, as usual, because in the more densely packed delves you just cast once and run alongside the crawler as the whole world is purple circles for a good 10 seconds (fun fact, the pirate ship encounter spawns are staggered enough that a single essence drain / contagion can basically do 80% of the encounter for you. I guess I need to invest in more duration.)

    D°) ED? Bane? Soulrend?

    1. ED Master Race, obviously. I mean, regen is uncapped, so it's always 0.50% regardless of your total ES numbers. At this point I'm at around 1.5M-1.6M shaper dot dps (PoB, but it also doesn't take Vaal Lightning Trap / Bottled Faith into account), so I'll let you imagine what the regen can be. Plus, the spreads are still one of the most satisfying things in the game. Still need some upgrades (working on nacdot gloves / ammy, need to get an emp4, etc. Account is PathOfShalti if you want details.) but at this point I'm only doing it out of love for my occultist.
    2. Blight is S-tier for bossing. Really. Its damage is pretty much off the charts. Too bad the clear kinda feels bad when vaal blight isn't up. I really want to get a 21/20 vaal blight and do an uber elder with it just for fun, because I'm pretty sure the damage would be borderline pegi18.
    3. Soulrend has its uses, I guess. Its main appeal, to me, is that it frees a 4L that can be used for more utility (orb of storms / onslaught / arcane surge, for example, or CWDT-IC, or blight/infused channeling.) I don't really like needing to gem swap for bosses, however (GMP for another damage gem), and the slow cast time is a turnoff as occultists typically don't stack too much cast speed. I guess this is the one point where Trickster shines?
Also when doing the lab, it travels far and can kill sentries for you, if you're feeling uncomfortable.
    4. I don't like bane. Low AoE, and I typically want my defensive curses as blasphemy because nothing makes you feel safer than blaph'd tempo chains + aspect of the spider.

    E°) Bosses

Not much to say TBH. They get vaporized. PoB numbers are lower than stat-stick-bladeflurry-pobwarrior-25M-rofldps, but the good thing is, you only need to hit once and then stay the fuck out of the voidzones while the boss inexorably dies. Does tend to make things a lot easier.

    F°) Conclusion

    I'm happy.

No, really. I remember leagues (Incursion comes to mind) where playing ED just felt straight up bad. I had a friggin' +2 duration Shavronne's in Incursion, and even then the damage numbers just felt weak, and under what any arc trapper or firetrapper could dish out with 10c of gear.

Now… Well, now, it just feels good. Not what I'd call OP, or at least no more OP than most of the FotM pobwarrior builds (kamehameha, stormburst, etc. ; I guess phys-to-elem conversion does facilitate hilarious numbers).

So yeah. ED's in a good spot, one it hasn't seen ever since the double dipping nerfs.

820 is for selling it seems

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 08:03 AM PDT

I've noticed that global 820 is getting taken over bit by bit by the old whisper for info and straight out sellers of spots. I decided to report for almost the first time because global 820 is kind of nice for sharing stuff and that's impossible without the spam. I guess that I figured if I didnt point it out then nothing will happen.

The thing is though, instead of dealing with the problem that is clearly against the rules, the mod/admin just moved me to another channel and let the spammer/seller in global keep going at a ferocious pace. I guess this is a message that GGG want to allow selling and spamming in 820, and people looking to use it as intended are the ones not welcomed and getting muted.

As a test I did it several other times at different times of the day. After 2 reports they move me to another channel every time. I think this is absurd GGG. Very lazy moderation and a horrible way to do it. If people want to buy they can go to trade 820. keeping the difference is in everyone's interest.

PSA: Don't Unveil Unique Items like Devouring Diadem, or Paradoxica.

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 07:39 AM PDT

You are actively sabotaging the value of your own item and narrowing the possibility of selling it by making it only suited to a particular niche out of all the total buyers, you may believe you know what the best unveiling option is, but leaving it open allows the buyer to decide. If you want quick efficient sales, this is the way to go.

Of course if you want to unveil something niche no one else has for a slower overpriced sale, that's fine, but just unveiling whatever and throwing it up for sale without thinking, you're trolling yourself, imo.

If you want the craft for yourself, i.e. Cinderswallow, that's another story, but in the cases above you there's nothing on them you can't get on regular rares.

PSA: For anyone who levels new characters, consider level 36 wrath corrupted ring + string of servitude, aswell as Circle of guilt

    Posted: 20 Mar 2019 04:10 AM PDT

I've messed around a bit with the buff effect of several items including the new circle of guilt and the not so new corrupted wrath rings and ive found that they both offer absurd damage for very little investment.

As an example, the ring and a perfectly rolled string of servitude with buff effect will give you 27 to 427 lightning damage to attacks (average of 227 lightning dmg). This is from only one ring slot and a belt slot. You can further utilize the tempest, which has a high attack speed, 100% increased lightning damage and some extra lightning damage.

For even more crazy damage, pick up moltenstrike and utilize its crazy damage effectiveness. A HoWA moltenstrike character, would need a total of 412 int, just to get this bonus, WHICH YOU CAN GET FROM LVL 36 WITH ANY WEAPON!

Furthermore, it is also possible to utilize the damage buff from the Circle of Guilt, which gives up to 100%(!!!) increased buff effect from Herald of Purity PR RING SLOT. This will net you a total of 17,5 added physical damage at the point of you being able to equip the rings. This isnt very interesting, but once you gain some levels and start to hit endgame it will take a turn for the better. With a level 21 herald of purity, a helmet with +1 to socketed gems (implicit) aswell as +3 to socketed minion gems can together with an empower at lvl 4 (you can get by with lvl 3 just fine too), you can get up to 52 to 78 added phys pr ring slot to BOTH spells and attacks. This is exceptionally good paired with items such as facebreakers, doomfletch prism or a voidforge. You can get a total of 156-224 added phys damage from this. For comparison, abyssus (which has a minimum of 40% increased phys dmg taken) will give you 40-60 added phys. The best part it that it only reserves 31% (because of empower) of your mana so you can also use Hatred, this can even be modified further down with the reduced herald reservation mods on the synthesized version of the rings.

As of writing this post i could get a lvl 21 wrath corrupted ring which requires lvl 36, aswell as a string of servitude with max roll (60%) increased buff effect of wrath for only 7 c total.

Level 21 herald of purity: 75c

Circle of guilt (pr. ring): ~10c

BTW, if anyone knows how to change the layout of reddit posts to make this PSA look like less of a wall of text, then all help would be appreciated!
