    Thoughts on Soulrend so far?

    Posted: 10 Mar 2019 12:53 AM PST

Hey everyone, I have been trying to make Soulrend work (on a Trickster variant), but it has been a struggle. The low duration effectively makes it worth only 40% of the DoT stated on the gem. I am sure you would all have tried Bane by now, and in comparison, that feels like a blast to play. For single-target, the near-ubiquitous need for GMP means Soulrend usually has 1 less support gem. Feels like you really need to pair it with ED to make it work.

So for those who have spent time with the new chaos skills, what do you think about Soulrend?

Help with Scorcing Ray Trickster pathing

    Posted: 10 Mar 2019 04:10 AM PDT

Hey everyone, hope you are enjoying the new league.

I've gone scorching ray as my league starter for this league and so far it has been pretty good.

My plan was to go with a hybrid setup of life/es and evasion together with some ES leech + the new trickster ghost shroud / escape artist.

Anyway, here is my idea on my current tree: https://pastebin.com/z3j8u9dZ

Here i what i'm playing right now, until i get more points / an idea if i should go eldritch or not (and finish uber lab): https://imgur.com/a/2EwicgP

I'm really struggling with how i want to path this and would love some feedback from some more experienced people (this is only my 2nd league). How would you go about pathing this? Right now i'm speccing into some more mana + MOM for survivability, which is working fine but i was gonna thinking of going into eldritch battery (using devouring diadem eventually), but again, i'm not sure how to path this tree and the new shadow area confuses me, because i don't think i path out of it efficiently.

I also feel like getting heart of flames + breath of flames at the top should be a prio because of how much dps it adds, but again, not sure how i would path over there efficiently. Should i maybe drop focusing on either ES or Evasion?

    Thanks!

Also bonus question: How do EE work with scorching ray? I have a jewel that adds lightning damage to spells and googling, i read that some people say SC doesn't "hit", does this mean this jewel is enough to make it proc EE or will the lightning damage not hit either, forcing me to have an entirely different spell in order to proc EE for SC?

Final Version - EK Nova Trickster EB/MoM

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 09:27 AM PST

I've posted my tree a few times in various Ek threads here but just wanted to make a last post with my final tree (hopefully).

The new set-up uses the Devouring Diadem to get EB on gear and it also provides reduced mana reservation so you don't have to get it on your shield freeing up that mod for more defense/dmg. Also drop harness the void and get patient reaper for HC or more defenses.

Using decent gear with some #% Phys dmg gained as mods on amulet/dagger the current sustainable shaper dps is a whopping 1.5mil on Ek nova. Swap Faster Projectiles in during mapping and use slower proj for guardians/shaper etc.

This is nuts... It gets over 2mil w/ frenzy charges and shock.

    https://pastebin.com/J28FH9GL

IMO this is a HC viable build as well but I would just drop dmg for more life/es and perhaps pick up an additional curse or some life leech (which isn't really necessary for SC).

Anyway, Ek is busted and this is getting nerfed in the future...

Does divine ire feel better than storm brand or equal?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 11:58 PM PST

Both seem really fun, and good clear speed, my only concern with divine ire is having to stop and cast, where brand has recall

Can anyone help improve this build?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 02:54 PM PST

This is my build at present, from Betrayal league (Now in Standard): https://pastebin.com/hFqBX7jj

I've got to level 91, but I just cannot get much further on the Atlas because I don't have the tank or damage output needed to kill corrupted bosses, let alone end-game bosses, and I just don't know how to progress. This is by far the most expensive gear I've ever had, and the first build I ever adapted from an existing archetype (2xPoet's Pen). I don't like purely net-decking other people's builds.

    Couple of restrictions:
Self-cast Arc is the point of the build.
As much Lightning as possible, main and supplementary skills. Lightning everywhere.
Use of the dual enchanted wands for increasing movement with instant lightning warp, and damage with a second lightning skill, were a way to emulate PP while allowing me to self-cast Arc (Which won't proc PP).

How might I increase either my damage output, or, more importantly, my ability to not instantly die to things?

Occultist isn't supposed to be squishy...right?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 04:11 PM PST

First time playing occultist and I was starting ED/contagion so i could play around with the new skills but... it's miserable. I'm dying constantly and feel like i have zero defensive layers. I was starting with Tarke's generic chaos dot trees from his video, but I guess i've not done anything to adjust it to fit me...and i guess i don't have enough of a clue to figure it out.

The little bit i've played with souldrend, i don't enjoy it much due to crazy slow casting. Bane is really satisfying, but seems to have no built in sustain + it seems like lots of stuff in memories wants to offscreen me so i dunno. ED + Contagion was pretty reliable for awhile towards the end of acts 4/5 but now that i'm keying more towards ES it's not really working.

My goal is just to play something i've not done before that can get through all yellow maps and reds, maybe even killing some late game bosses that i've never seen before. I feel inclined towards bane or ED/contagion i guess but beyond that I don't know what to do.

    Elemental Overload and Traps

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 04:11 PM PST

I started this league as a fire trapper and it's been going well so far making progress through the atlas. But in PoB when I check the benefits of elemental overload it shows a 20% more total dps, mainly through the burning ground which I'm scaling. Yet while mapping I never get the EO buff; and unless the traps crit giving their burning ground EO, without any notification on my end, am I just wasting passive points?

    Thank you

    Suggestion for something easy/low investment?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 03:18 PM PST

Is the anything that you guys have started with recently that can really breeze through content with little to no investement? Trying to help my gf find a build, but she's picky. She's really into the totem playstyle but has done it so many times that it's time for something new. Recommended storm brand or winter orb but those seem like they may be expensive.

Malediction vs Withering Presence for Soulrend/Bane CI build?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 07:00 AM PST

What do you guys think will be better?

I'm linking Bane with Despair, Temp Chains and Enfeeble.

Is the -20% chaos res and free Wither stacks on bosses worth an additional curse, Profane bloom and being able to curse hexproof enemies?

Fun to play non spell build to avoid meta?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 01:35 PM PST

Hi, I will not have much time to play this League but i would try to do uber elder as a goal for the whole League and sole challenge.

I think it is better for me to avoid the spell/chaos/ci meta since i will certainly not have enough currency to get all the required item.

I have always played spell build since this is what i have fun with. (RF, ED/cont, cold snap, CoC are my last build) So i dont know what to play this league that could get me to uber elder and it is funny to play.

Seeking suggestions for a build using energy leech support.

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 03:17 PM PST

What main skill? What ascendancy? Trying to figure out what could work well and do all content fast, but with everyone playing chaos (won't hit, won't leech) and storm brands (i'm quite tired of the skill), i'm out of luck. Surprisingly, very few CI builds being streamed or on the poe.ninja rankings. PoB, forum and youtube links are all very welcome. Thanks! <3

    Need Help With Build

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 02:52 PM PST

    Hey all,

I got my friend's dad to agree to try the game and play at least until lvl 40 before he quits if he doesn't like it. I'm pretty sure he will like it. I need help constructing a build that will fit him perfectly.

I asked him a loooong series of questions about how he sees himself in a D&D universe where anything is possible...

    Prerequisites:

    1. He wants something simple that is not demanding. He's the kind of "come home after work, lean back in chair and relax while he plays with one hand, mouse only" kind of guy.
    2. He wants to face tank everything. He never wants to die.
    3. He does not care about mapping or clearing. He could get through a map in a hour. He doesn't care. He just wants to be able to kill every single boss in the game without dying.
    4. He doesn't want any minions or micro managing. So no totems.
    5. He wants to have a shield, and he really likes the idea of stealing life from his enemy. Life leech.
    6. He doesn't want "spells" he wants your typical tank. With lifesteal.
    7. MUST be low budget. A starting build that doesn't require specific items or gear. He will possibly quit at 40 so we need it to be somewhat realized by then and not "you can use the main skill at 72 when you get X"
    8. He doesn't like dodging. He wants to "take the hits" as he puts it. No evasion.

I've been searching POE builds for something along those lines, I've even been playing around in POB. But I can't seem to get it right and I'm scared to have him try a bad build because then he won't like it and will quit.

I'd like to give him something along the lines of Lifeleech>Block>Armor>Damage.

    Please help haha. Thank you!!

    Cold dot occultist (cold snap/vortex)

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 02:41 PM PST

I work full time so im still in act 4 and ive been pretty indecisive on which version to fully follow. Been looking at ziggyds 3.6 starter, waggles build from 3.5 amd durnz build on poebuilds.cc. Anyone with experience have any further insight to help me decide?

Also, usually the way it goes for me is i follow the main gem links while leveling but struggle to fit in the utility set ups until like acts 7+ when i really start struggling. I always end up ofc feeling SO much better after adding in some defensive and utlity set ups. These builds have ALOT going on, and given leveling im struggling to find decent items and links. What setup would you absolutely have while leveling once i have access to it? This is referring to not cold snap or vortex. Thanks guys.

    Build Guidance

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 02:22 PM PST

I'm feeling really lost choosing a league starter this league. Betrayal was my first experience with PoE and I had a blast playing an extremely tanky CI howa molten strike jugg with bleed, ignite, and shock immunities. Before I found that build, I tried out Enki's arc witch and just got one shot too much at 9k EHP in late mapping to have much fun. I'm wondering if there are any extremely tanky builds similar to the howa jugg that aren't jugg based (preferably caster)). Something like a trickster or occultist chaos dot or herald of agony build perhaps? Being able to start decently strong and scale for the duration of the league with currency poured into it is ideal, though not required.

Many thanks to anyone taking the time to help my indecisive self out

    Help with leveling Toxic Rain/HoA

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 12:32 PM PST

Made a pathfinder with the intention to eventually run Winter Orb, but started as Toxic Rain/HoA (poison). TR is pretty good, although I do get a bit annoyed with the delay for the pods & poison to kill stuff. But also not sure if I respec to Winter Orb now if it will be good enough... Master Toxicist will undoubtedly bring a ton of dps for TR, so that is tempting.

Anyways, any suggestions on current setup to make it kill a bit faster? https://pastebin.com/NxmcRj3H

Help with pathing the tree Bane/Soul Rend Occultist

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 10:24 AM PST

Anyone have an updated skill tree for 3.6 for ci occultist coldsnap vortex?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 09:28 AM PST

Like the title says, Im just getting back into poe and playing vortex. Really liking it so far but all the build guides i can find are using the old tree. I dont need perfection but I also dont want to totally brick my first character by messing it up myself! Anyone have a pob to an updated tree?

StormBurst Inquis - Trying to improve it

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 07:34 AM PST

    https://pastebin.com/bU5X9MMj

Started my league with stormburst inquis - It felt really good until the doedre fight, which was awful. The solaris and lunaris fight also felt really bad. Any fight with frequent stutter stepping , because of the ramp up is no bueno.

I just started chasing some duration nodes, hoping scaling some of the burst will make stutter stepping, to dodge, less bad. Anyone else figure stuff out?
