Anyone else just ignores Nexus until next patch?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 05:35 AM PDT

It just seems so pointless now. I did 1 boss and he dropped only 5 fractured items - worthless of course. This is the reward? Lets be serious. And there wasnt even a portal back after, I needed to go back whole pre-boss area to get back. Am I missing something here or they jsut forgot to add it?

    [Guide]How to sustain maps

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 07:32 AM PDT

I've noticed a lot of people struggling hard with map sustain so I thought I might as well write a little tutorial on how to sustain maps.
This guide might not be perfect for very beginners and I advice everyone to read the 'Atlas of Worlds' wiki page at least once. (https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Atlas_of_Worlds)

    Start
I recommend farming Blood Aqueducts until around lvl 70. By that time you should have gotten a bunch of T1 maps which will get you started. Don't worry if you haven't gotten one of each yet. From T1 maps on you should always alch your maps. You'll always make that 1 alch back in some way (vendoring uniques helps early league.
Now run those T1 maps until you've completed all T1 maps.

    Tier 2 to 10
When you're done with T1s, start running the T2s you've gotten so far. For the ones you're missing, run the T1 map that connects to them until one drops. By the time you've done all T2 maps, you will have a few T3s.

Now just repeat this process over and over until you reached T10.

    Unique maps
If you find a unique map, you have to decide if it's worth selling it or running it yourself. If the map costs the same or more than a T11 map would, sell it. If it's a really rare map, sell the completion instead (Manor, Machinarium, Cloister).
If you don't sell it, run it immediately.

    Zana questline
Doing Zana's questline is very important as the crafts she unlocks are very important. When it comes to shaping maps, it doesn't really matter what maps you shape with the first 5 shaper orbs. Pick a layout you like, a map that sells well or one that has common and good divination cards.
Picking a map just because it has a very valuable but very rare div card is not the way to go since the likelihood of you getting it are very slim. Your goal is consistency, everything else will come with it.

    Building a mapbase
Before you venture into red maps you need a solid base of T10 maps. Only run each T10 once for the completion and keep the others. Now run T9 maps until you got enough T10s (somewhere between 15-30). This T10 base will serve as a safety net for later.

    Maps are currency
While building your T10 base, you'll find a lot of T8 or lower maps. Now don't just stash them away and keep them. Each map has a value and should therefore be viewed as a currency. Keep selling maps of the tiers you don't run anymore. If they are less than 2 alchs, wait till you got a few and then sell them in bulk. It's never worth it leaving your map for 1 alch.

    Transition into red maps
Once you got your T10 base, you can start running those T10s until you got once of each T11. Have a look at your atlas and see which T10 maps are connected to each T11. T11s are always connected to two T10s so once you drop that T11, don't run the connected T10s anymore until you got one of each T11.

    Red maps
Once you got one of each T11, alch and vaal them. If one turns into a T12, keep farming T10s until you get it again. Don't run any T11 until you got a corrupted rare of each.
Now run those and then go back to farming your T10s until you got 7-10 T11s.
Repeat this process for every tier and if you run out of a certain tier, farm the maps of the tier below until you got 7-10 again.

During this time you should also complete as many unique maps as possible. It might cost you now but it will pay off massively in the long term. By the time you reach t13-14, you should have completed all unique maps except for Manor, Machinarium, Cloister and HotGM.

    Chiseling maps
From T12 onwards you should chisel every map.

Rolling maps, vaaling maps and zana mods
For T1 to T14, you should only ever reroll maps if they have a mod you cannot run and you don't have another map of the same tier you could run instead.

For T13 and above you want to put on the zana bloodlines mod if the map is not corrupted and has more than 85%quant/25% packsize. If it has less, vaal the map.

    Setting up the endgame
Once you've gotten the atlas bonus on all T1-T14 maps, as well as most unique maps, there are three things you can do. Which one you choose depends on how much you play, how much currency you have and what your planned endgame is.
One thing all three need is progressing the zana mission at least until you get the T10 shaper orb. This is your next goal.

    Endgame 1: Casual mapping
This strategy is best for players who don't have a lot of time or want to play other characters.

Get the atlas bonus for all guardians and shaper himself. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, ask someone to carry you or buy a carry. Now you want to shape a T10 map with good density and uncomplete all other T15s. This way your chosen map is the only T15 that can drop. You also want to have an atlas bonus of at least 145% by now.

Now you want to build up a base of your chosen T15, you'll do it different this time though. Get your T10 maps, chisel and alch them, put them in the map device and choose 'Shaped (Tier 1-10)' to make the map a T15. This costs 6 chaos for each run but you'll be able to fund that by selling all T11-T14 maps. Again, see maps as currency!

Once you got a few T15s, chisel and alch them. Vaal the ones with less than 85%quant/25% packsize and sell the ones that turn into guardian maps or vaal temple. For the ones you run, put in 3 sac fragments and put on harbinger for the ones with more than 30% packsize. For the corrupted ones, choose bloodlines instead.
You might want to put on sextants as well that depends on the price of the sextants. As you'll be using yellow sextants only, I would advice using them if they cost more than 2c each.
If you do use them, roll for mods that add monsters to the map.

Now this seems like a massive currency investment, and it is but on average you'll make more money per map by selling maps and the sextants you don't use than you put in each map.
The earlier in the league you do this, the more profit you'll make but even now this method is still sustainable and profitable.

    Endgame 2: Elder map farming
For this you want to complete the zana questline and get your elder orb as well as complete all missing unique maps. Use that on a map with good density and at least 3 white sextants.
Now move your elder influence onto the map you want to run so that you get almost permanent shaper/elder influence.
Then uncomplete all guardian maps and buy a load of the non-elder version of your chosen map.
Put on the 4 sextants with additional monsters, chisel and alch the maps, put in 3 sac fragments and put on the 'Elder (Tier 1-15)' zana mod.
Do this until you have around 12-15 elder maps and then run those instead. Again, chisel>alch>vaal if less than 85% quant/25% packsize>3 sac fragments>harbinger on non-vaaled maps, bloodlines on vaaled maps and harbinger on vaaled maps with more than 100% quant.

Yes, this is expensive but it gives you a steady stream of income overall. Selling red tier maps, ilvl 83 abyss jewels and ilvl 83+ shaper/elder bases alone make this worthwhile and you'll get other stuff on top.

    Endgame 3: Farming Uber-Elder
Complete all missing unique maps so you have 159 atlas bonus. Then unshape all shaped T13+ maps so you can only drop the base ones. Chisel>alch>vaal>sac fragments>bloodlines every T13+ you run and buy maps you need. Sell sextants and pray to win that triple t1 watcher's eye lottery. Good luck!

    Notes
No matter what strat you run, remember that maps are not the only source of maps! Delve(!) and temple are good sources and sometimes even safehouses drop them. Memories as well but I'm not sure yet how good they can actually be for mapdrops.

I hope this helps and if you got any questions, feel free to ask me in the comments!
    Good luck to you all!

    edit
For completion's sake I'll add info about monstrous treasure.

The most you could ever get out of a single map (as a solo player) is by doing the following:
-Have elder on your elder T16 map
    -Have 159 atlas completion
-Roll the sextants that give additional packsize and quant in unID maps, magic packsize, quant for strongboxes and 2x additional monsters
    -Get 'Monstrous Treasure' prophecy
-Get 44 'An unseen peril' prophecy'
-Have no prophecies other than 'Monstrous Treasure' active
-Have a rare unID map with 30%+ packsize, magic monsters and rare monsters rolls
-Use the map alongside 1 Gilded Cartographer's Scarab, 1 Gilded Ambush Scarab and 1 Mortal fragment
-Put the 'Ambush' zana mod on the map
-Enter the map and hope that unseen treasure actually procced (if it didn't just clear the map and hope for next time)
-Roll every strongbox for at least one of: additional magic monsters, additional rare monsters, summon skeletons
-Use one 'An Unseen Peril' prophecy before opening every strongbox
-Don't press Alt because your instance will probably crash if you do

This method is insanely strong but also requires a TON of effort to get going (buy 44 1alch prophecies) and it's not guaranteed to work (monstrous treasure doesn't proc every time).

I initially didn't include this because doing this as a solo player is actually not worth doing over just spending the time mapping. If however, you have someone who's buying the prophecies for you, this is absolutely worth doing.
You can get even better rewards total if you do this on a map like elder arsenal with a MF party and use a divination scarab instead of the mortal fragment. In this case putting beyond on the map might also be worth it but that I don't know.

Instead of a race to level 100

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 08:51 AM PDT

it would be more fun to watch a race to kill uber elder... that way you have to make the decision when its enough grinding and make the move for the kill and you could very much struggle while being close to winning.

also when one team moves for the kill you can literally have a race to see who gets there first.

i like watching races but the end of those races level 97+ is just an endless gring with nothing exiting happening

Please, extend the Super Stash tab sale, PS4 launch is going to miss it.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 02:32 AM PDT

I really would like to ask for extension for the Super Stash tab sale! This would be something that would make me super happy.

Buying ALL the stash tab's right now costs more than full game on PS4 if there is no discounts. With discounts it's going to be at the same prices as a full game.

This means we have to wait at least 3 weeks until we get a new stash tab sale. I think this will hinder the initial launch of PoE for PS4.

[FIX WORKED!] For curing Betrayal lag AIDS. Standalone Client Only. Details below.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 12:08 AM PDT

I have had insane lag on a whole bunch of content in the game since Synthesis came out.

Imagine 5fps in Perandus. But worse. On just random Beasts, packs around a shrine, opening lockboxes, packs inside Incursions, packs inside memories.

But Betrayal was a whole new level of lag. Just straight up 10-30 second client freezes.

I tried lowering all settings. Nope. I tried flushing my DNS. Nope.

Then I just happened to come across THIS LINK in the PoE forums:

    https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2454098/page/1

    Ygidua wrote:

Here is what fixed it for me. Step by Step, it will take a long time so do it on a day off.

    1. Delete all Shader files of POE
    2. Run the GPPK file with a defrag program, you can find one specially designed for poe, here at the forum. I went from almost 20GB to 15GB.
    3. Run Defragger on your whole PC (takes many hours if you did not do that before)

It took me about 15 hours yesterday, but now my game runs fine again. The loading times of 5 minutes + are gone, moving from one map to another is faster, lag spikes have improved, my hdd is not spinning all the time causing big stuttering in game.

this is ofc only a fix for HDD users, SSD´s should not be defragmented for obvious reasons.

I don´t know what GGG did in 3.6 that it caused such a mess, but if you don´t want to wait for their fix, try mine. At least for me, it has worked.

Here is the link to the ggpk defragger:

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/mk1yper87galj21/qQ92eFPTs9/Modified/ggpk_defragment.exe

And if you are worried about its authenticity, Jonathan at GGG gave it a thumbs up, found here:

    https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/28060

We actually have a similar tool for this internally, but our one is an in-place defragment rather than input to output.

Old pack files can get quite fragmented after a lot of game patches. This is especially noticed internally where our developers are patching multiple times per day.

I should mention that the the patcher does reuse free space for deleted files, it's just that there are a lot of oddly sized small chunks left over after filling up available free chunks with new data.

This is exacerbated by the patcher trying to do atomic operations so that it can be closed at any time without causing corruption or loss of already downloaded assets. This means that if we add a file to a directory, for example, we have to make a new directory entry with the file added, commit that to disk, then swap the parent directory entry pointer over to the new one, then commit that to disk.

As files are added or removed it can involve directory entries moving around a lot throughout the pack file, adding to the fragmentation.

There are some improvements I'd like to do one day to prevent quite so much fragmentation, especially of the metadata, but in the mean time, feel free to use this tool.

EDIT: By the way, that code is very clean. Great job!

I delete the shader folders. Ran the ggpk defragger. Patched. Only 1 shader folder repatched.

Game loaded about 3-4x faster than normal. Ran the Betrayal daily on the Atlas.

NO LAG during the events. I got one, half second pause when I came within screen distance of the first Betrayal encounter inside of the Research Lab.

Intervention with 3 masters was 100% lag free with zero blips.

Transportation with 3 masters was 100% lag free with zero blips.

HOPE THIS WORKS IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS.

PS -- have had the same client installed for about 18 months since I got this PC.

Saved 3884mb. So whatever that bloat is, is at least, part of the problem.

Just lost an exalted orb in a memory fracture.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2019 07:36 AM PDT

Has anyone else had the issue? I went in the fracture like normal, Hit both the memory nodes, on my way to the second node an exalt dropped and then got sucked up into the blue. when I went out of the memory for there was no exalt and a few of the six sockets that dropped did not appear either.

If I was to guess only about half the loot showed up by zana so it wasn't just the exalt that was missing. Obviously it was very upsetting because I didn't know you needed to go back and pick stuff up... Now I'm having trouble completing memories because I'm scared I'll lose my items.

has anyone had this issue I feel like it should be discussed if there is an issue with the loot popping out after you complete the memory...

What can I say I'm pretty annoyed.
