RT Impale Blade Flurry Champion with small Guide[HC]

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 04:16 PM PDT

    Good evening everyone,

after spending the last few days in PoB I finally managed to set up my league starter. A Blade Flurry or Cleave RT Champion. I am going to start with this build in HC trade that means I have a 1 or 2 uniques in mind I wanna use later on but it should be SSF viable as well. Bladeflurry can beasily be changed to Cleave by changing 2 3 point wheels and equipping the threshold jewel:

    https://pastebin.com/tkM4EiRR

[Note: One Steel Ring simulates the new Close Combat Support, reworked Fortify Support, the Pride Aura and the Impale damage multiplier which I calculated really conservatively. The Basalt flask simulates the new Pulverize Support and the amulet the added physical damage Blade Flurry has gotten]

    Passive Tree:

Early on we want to path to Dervish as well as to Born to Fight, Strong Arm and Blade Master. Grab a few life nodes on the way like Heart of the Warrior. If you lack resistances in your build Diamond Skin can help a bit out there. After completing normal lab we want to skill Unstoppable Hero.

After we make our way slow or fast through the acts we grab Resolute Technique when the accuracy begins to fall off, the Fortify wheel around Rampart, Ambidexterity, Souls of Steel, the Impale Clusters and more life nodes. Pick leech nodes around that level as well if needed. Mana leech can be found on gloves, amulets and rings as well (crafting bench or normal mod). After Cruel lab Master of Metal is a great choice. After Merciless you take Inspirational or Conqueror.

When hitting maps you want to have around 4k to 5k life as well as maxed out elemental resistances. This means more life nodes, the second Fortify wheel, the two weapon range clusters and last but not least Blood Magic with Mortal Conviction and the last Ascendency passive. Either Inspiritational or Conqueror. You will have to respec roughly 6-10 nodes around level 75 to make the tree more efficient to make room for more life and defensive nodes. A level 30 - 60 and engame tree is already in PoB

Levelling gem setups, gear and tips

    Till Act 3:

Cleave - Chance to Bleed - Maim - Melee Physical Damage

    Herald of Purity

Ancestral Protector - Blood Lust - Melee Physical Damage

    Molten Shell

Leap Slam - Endurance Charge on Melee Stun - Faster Attacks

    Dash

    From Act 3/4 onwards:

Bladeflurry - Melee Physical Damage - Fortify - Maim (Brutality after Act 4 for Maim) Give the new Rage Support, Impale Support, Close Combat or Pulverize a try Use whatever feels best for you.

Pride - Dread banner - Enduring Cry (- Blood Range if you can handle the degen)

(Vaal) Ancestral Warchief - Brutality - Melee Physical Damage

Leap Slam - Endurance Charge on Melee Stun - Faster Attacks

Cast When Damage Taken - Enfeeble - Increased Duration - (Vaal) Molten Shell

Herald of Purity (Drop this when you equip the Pride Aura and you have skilled Mortal Conviction)

    Endgame gem links:

(6L) Bladeflurry - Brutality - Melee Physical Damage - Fortify - Close Combat - Pulverize (Feel free to play around a bit with the support gems. Impale Support, Rage Support or Infused Channelling are all great options)

(4L) Vaal Molten Shell (17) - Cast when Damage taken (lvl 13) - Enfeeble (lvl 1) - Increased Duration (lvl 20)

(4L) Vaal Ancestral Warchief - Melee Physical Damage - Brutality - Maim

(4L) Cast when Damage taken (lvl 9) - Vortex (lvl1) - Blood Rage (lvl 20)

    (3L)Pride - Dread Banner - Enduring Cry

(3L) Leap Slame - Endurance Charge on Melee Stun - Faster Attacks

    Gear:

    Early:

4 Links on strength or dexterity bases

    Movement Speed boots

    Resistances

    Iron Rings early on

    rare swords

    Meginords Girdle

    Close to/ during mapping:

    Weapons:

Any 200 - 250+ Physical dps swords with good attack speed (1,5+) will carry you far into yellow maps

    https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Innsbury_Edge

For this one don t forget to take out the Brutality Support gem if you plan to use this or you will loose 50% of your dps because it doesnt let you deal any damage type besides physical.

    https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Dreamfeather

Totally underrated. Let the bandwagon jump on the Ichimonjis. Use this cheap rip off and save big bucks early in the game

I don t recommend Ichimonjis because they will be really expensive at league start. In HC they re usually around 15c on the first day. Dreamfeather on the other hand is just 3-5c, Innsbury Edge 1c any 250 pdps sword 5-10c on day one.

    Armor + jewellery:

5+ Link Body Armor that is easy to colour

Life + Resistances on all your gear

    Bloodgrip (great for uber lab)

    https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Bloodgrip

    Belt of the Deceiver

    https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Belt_of_the_Deceiver

Haemophilia for clear (Might be really pricey)

    https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Haemophilia

    Endgame gear:

Fossil crafted 6L Astral Plate with the mod "Supported by level 1 Maim" and 130+ Life

T1 Flat Phys on amulet and steel rings with attack range mod from the crafting bench

Dual Wielding two 450+ pdps Corsair Swords or Jewelled Foils with t1 attack speed

    100+ life on gloves/helmet/boots

    30/35 MS on boots

    Helpful vendor recipes during levelling:

1x weapon + 1x magic or rare rustic stash + 1 Blacksmith Whetstone gives you a weapon with (40% - 69%) Physical Damage as its prefix!

use this to craft yourself solid swords during levelling though the acts. Always take the best avaible base you can find at the vendor NPC in town.

Other than that use your Contempt and Zeal Essences

But how will this build survive with just 200% maximum life in the tree and dual wielding?

Permanent Fortify that is buffed up by 50%. Means 30% less Damage taken. CwDt Enfeeble + Molten Shell + Vortex, Maim, 6% reduced damage taken from taunted enemies, Dread Banner and 25k Armor with Flasks up as well as 3 Endurance Charges. Combined with some leech I feel really comfortable pushing this build to shaper without any issues.

I hope that it was at least a bit understandable despite my bad English and that someone found some useful information in there.

    Have a great league start

    cheers

Reave Claw Beserker Instant Leech, Defensive-focused, 1M+ DPS with budget gear

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 02:51 AM PDT

Hi all, I've theory crafted a Reave claw berserker using the new tree/supports/auras to make a really powerful, defensive build that will be very strong for killing hordes of legion. I've written about the build more in depth on the official forums but here's the PoB: https://pastebin.com/HTSeeHS0 Currently using flasks to simulate new gems as well as impale using an impale calculator. The gear set defaults to Budget (using a tabula), and there's also a high end gear set to shoot for (while still realistic).

It makes use of blind, enfeeble, insta leech, a few new sources of damage reduction, and Reave's natural safe distance to create a really defensive Berserker while still maintaining the ascendancy's awesome speed and power. Let me know of any suggestions/opinions. I'm currently split on going Aspect of Carnage vs Rite of Ruin; I worry that having so much conditional damage (charges, rage) will prove annoying and even dangerous.

I know it's common to supplement Reave with a single target skill, but I think hitting 1m+ dps with a 6-link reave while maintaining high aoe is just too trivial to bother with running two skills, as 1m is enough for all content. Especially with all the juicy new skills we want to add to our skillbar. But if you're a dps whore you can still go BFlurry/VDS on a 6l and reave on a 4l shaper/elder helm.

Also, I'm going SC this league so I was a bit more liberal with damage versus life nodes, but I definitely think this build is HC viable as there's plenty of life to get from Marauder start that isn't out of the way, and we more than make up for the 10% increased damage taken (which isn't even necessary to take) by getting up to 46% DR.

Flicker for mapping/Frenzy for bossing Slayer or Berzerker

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 09:27 PM PDT

    Hey everyone!

I was hoping to give flicker strick a chance this league (assuming I can handle it lol) and also fell in love with the new frenzy gem as well so I was wondering if anyone had a chance to make a pob for something like this and wouldn't mind sharing it?

    Thanks!

    What build can I choose?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 01:17 AM PDT

I won't much time this season so I think of playing only one build (max 2) and I have only one object: kill the Uber elder, that I've never kill before :( can someone suggest me some builds that I can pick?

I was thinking about some trap builds (what are the best trap builds?) because for mine and totem I don't like the playstyle. For the miniom I played last season arakaali's fang and golem the season before soo maybe anything else should be OK. And I didn't play the new skill (only wo) in the last 2 season so it something new I don't dislike it :).

Earthquake Skill tree and build need some help

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 01:02 AM PDT

Greetings. I am fairly new at melee builds and i want to try EQ this league. I think the skill has the biggest base damage and i can play around the "more damage" things with some duration maybe. Honestly didn't play EQ before what you guys think?

I am thinking Slayer with headsman (20more dmg) and Impact (15moredmg) and thats all.

Gems | no idea actually maybe fortify ? and impale. Also how much i need Less duration? is it important too much?

anyway guys, waiting your responses, about future of this skill and what can i manage with that. Also if you have time maybe some POB links. Thanks in advance!

Noob trying to understand the difference between these 2 lightning trap builds

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 10:39 PM PDT

    demi: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2187283/page/1

    pob: https://pastebin.com/WS6MuVgT

    vs

    tarkecat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKwWrUTNt8o

    pob: https://pastebin.com/0CSdZkyT

As a noob I'm trying to understand the builds I play a bit more since I've only followed builds without any question before, the game is very overwhelming to take in. This would be my league starter for legion.

So, a couple interactions I'm not familiar with, demis uses eldritch battery, since there is 96% mana reserved, is the intention to be able to use some of ES for when you use up all your mana? Or does it override mana and you have none with it and only spend es for abilities?

Secondly, on tarkes build he uses blood magic from the helm which seems straightforward, you can use health instead of mana since I guess there may be mana issues otherwise?

So is the intention for eldritch battery and blood magic here so that it's easier to sustain throwing traps without running out of "mana"?

So taking a look at the builds I realized in the past that a lot of people like to put max gear on things to make their pob numbers look higher than others, so when I look at all these jewels on demis I'm assuming it's going to take a while to get those jewels, and therefore it seems tarkes is more realistic as a league starter. But I could also just ignore the jewels for now and get other stuff instead. Anyone know how expensive tinkers is vs malachais awakening? I'm not exactly an economy pro so would not like something that expensive... But it seems both these builds should be cheap overall so I'm not worried.

The last main thing that stands out to me is how I saw that master sapper apparently got moved and it's harder to get now which is why tarke skipped it but it seems demi just left it. It looks kinda out of the way there, maybe if I need more dex I should go for it? What's your opinion on which to take?

Lastly, I don't really know what items to fill in for tarkes build other than aiming for max reses, looking for essence on gloves, move speed, and the stygian belt. To max dps I could just move around different items in pob with different stats and aim for whatever is affordable? Any idea what to replace immortal call with since that changed recently? Guess I'll find out once playing a bit more.

Anyways, any other tips or pointers that seem like big differences in these builds or in general? Does one of these builds look way better than the other? I would imagine not, but I am not experienced enough to tell. Would really appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

    Melee characters for SSF?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 03:58 PM PDT

I'm a newer SSF player, semi-casual, and I'd like to get through maps and maybe try Uber Elder. With the 3.7 hitting, I was wondering if there are any good melee SSF characters that can progress at a consistent pace. I don't need to race to the end-game in 1 day, but I don't want to get stuck somewhere for a long time either. Ideally, it's a true melee character centered around physical damage, but I'd welcome any other suggestions too :).

I took a look at the true blue 80/80, but it looks like the only physical-focused character was the Lacerate Gladiator and the build creator had some questions about it. I don't have a good sense for what gear I can practically expect to get playing SSF, so I don't know if being able to use rares will take it up to par.

    Which cyclone starter build?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 02:49 AM PDT

    Hello!

I would love to play cyclone this league. Which build / guide would you recommend as a cyclone starter, which also scales well with currency in the "late game".

    Thanks a lot!

I have a tree and want to know your opinion.

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 02:48 AM PDT

    Tree is for Lacerate/Cleave/Bladestorm.

Going to use swords, heavy invest in phys gems/items while keeping ability to use ToH, Atziri's, Sin's flasks. 100% impale with support and Banner.

    https://i.imgur.com/CirE14e.png
Crimson dance only for lacerate, probably should swap Vigour to Dismembering crit nodes.

Looking alright for me, wanna know your opinion because I haven't made builds myself for years.

    Glacial Hammer Rage Berserker

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 02:06 PM PDT

I've decided it's time to attempt my first build for league start. I enjoy speedy boys and herald of ice explosions, so I though I'd give Berserker a try with Glacial Hammer. I borrowed a few ideas from Mathil's Delve Glacial Hammer Champion.

New skills aren't in POB yet, I'll probably be inserting Rage Support for Cold Pen and then adding Berserk as a DPS burst for single target.

Wondering if you guys have any suggestions, things I've overlooked.

    What's wrong with smite?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 03:52 AM PDT

So smite has now got a nice base damage, nice radius/aoe, a nice added lightning buff and it seems that with the new melee changes and gems such as pulverised and shock wave and all these delicious new melee nodes for damage attack speed and aoe that it should be a perfectly solid choice for a melee build. I was thinking of even going brainrattler and using slayers nice 8% base crit node. But when I brought this up to someone on YouTube I'm apparently an idiot and choosing a dead end build and I just can't see why.

Scion Champion seems really good for a League Starter

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 03:02 PM PDT

Here is a Cyclone Scion Champion for which I've theorycrafted a tree. From only one, relatively easy to obtain piece of gear (the Gluttony belt) and it's interaction with Charging Offensive, the build has the following buffs going for it:

    • Onslaught

    • Fortify/Blind on Hit (with Cyclone's attack speed making this almost always permanent)

    • Perma Frenzy and Endurance charges

    • Intimidate

    • Impale

    • Taunt for 10% more damage

    • Culling Strike

    • Dodge/Spell Dodge

    • 200% life

    • Tons of life + mana on hit

Until the new gems are in PoB, I'm not going to guess the damage, but the supports for Cyclone would probably be:

    • Brutality

    • Melee Physical

    • Infused Channeling

    • Impale

    • Pulverize

    • (Shockwave or Close Combat might be better)

The Raider subclass could be replaced with Berserker, Juggernaut, or Pathfinder depending on your preference. Auras would be Pride, Blood and Sand, and Dread Banner (Poacher's Mark should cover the mana issues, but a -mana cost ring may be necessary to run all three without hiccups).

Gearing is wide open. Want Rampage? Wear a Wyrmsign! The only item you'll absolutely need (besides Gluttony) is a good physical weapon. Once you acquire a good endgame weapon, you can spec into the corresponding damage nodes, but for the most part this tree works for all two handed weapons equally.

Hopefully this helps someone trying to decide what to play.

Brutus' Lead Sprinkler Tectonic Slam Chieftan

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 03:31 AM PDT

I'm looking to league start with a chieftan using tectonic slam, probably following this guide.

    https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2503553

However, I'm wondering if switching from using high phys damage swords to dual BLS would be effective?

I like the idea of a strength stacking chieftan, but I assume I would need avatar of fire and the ascendancy point to convert 100% to fire?

Also BLS has very low phys damage so I'm not sure if I would just be making it more difficult for myself?

    Essence Drain:Contagion or Bane?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 02:38 AM PDT

Not Sure what to pick from these 2 options...

Sources claim contagion is best, other state Bane. I've never played the build before, so if you did and have done some theory crafting for 3.7 can you please elaborate on the differences with respect to:

    1. As a leveling league starter.
    2. As a map farming choice.
    3. As endgame boss farming. (after investing currency and items on the build).

    Ngamahu's flame cyclone CwC

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 02:04 AM PDT

I'm thinking of maybe starting with Ngamahu's Flame this league and combining it with cyclone in a cast when channeling setup. Good thing is you can use 6 links for Ngamahu's molten burst setup, and also have a 6L available for a cyclone cwc setup.

This could results in a lot of spells and a lot of damage. Thinking of using firestorm on the CwC setup (could use any spell though basically, blade vortex could also be interesting). On the tree, go for spell damage, spell crit, attack speed. Could play as chieftain, trickster for easy charges, or maybe elementalist.

One of the problems I see is that you wan high attack speed for triggering molten burst, but don't need that for CwC.

    What do you guys think?

    Berserker Terminus Est flicker

    Posted: 07 Jun 2019 01:29 AM PDT

I know this isn't going to get much traction but i'd really appreciate some thoughts/criticism. Here's the passive tree i came up with:

    http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAABAECAORR137BB2MXG6pQRxQg7w49_IzP9kgb-iXfpBlHfmVNvTZYr1hjGJG8nxRN_EvyRf4K_o864aZXNZJN49i9xti4R18_W6_UUhfcBqJ0oAYghO-fiem5I-q95j7PWhoshcMzTZKNfSP2UUck_edU_96plKkneHpyAeWzfTs9PuXPmG-SfdwjtfKpbg48eA3AGjboFHH46_cyOlKGYOoYGlWE2QHnwQS-pw2NIWAwfEz_iO3uevoY4e-jivzFTirawXlo7g5DMWEhBS107Xrvh3ZnoEp945-tjXasz36_CPhfp23g2JhXX9D4uXO-lwjcjJMPAAAAAA==

My biggest concern is whether it's a sufficient tree for maintaining good crit/blitz ratio and attack speed since i only got 50ish % on a tree.

Links are going to be as follows, in order of importance: flicker>multistrike>melee physical>fortify. From this point there are possible supports which i'm going to settle with when i get to see them in action. Melee splash might be a quality of life for legion encounters, impale best single target swap-in, rage and close combat are honorable mentions, and ruthless and brutality are the last ones on the list.

    What do you guys think?

How to make a One-Swing Wonder? (2H, as much damage in one strike as possible)

    Posted: 06 Jun 2019 01:24 PM PDT

I'm entirely new to melee builds, but I've had this concept since seeing the new league; a character wielding a 2h weapon, doing a big swing (cleave?) and hitting as many enemies for as much damage as possible with one hit. Basically, maximizing Pulverize Support. Thing is, there are so many melee skills that sound awesome but I don't know how practical they are (cleave, heavy strike, consecrated path, dominating blow) or what class to play them with.
