    The Road to Headhunter (A Detailed Report) - DAY THIRTEEN [Extensive comparison between Alleyways and Glacier]

    DAY THIRTEEN:

    Glacier.

    The very name spurs the depths of my emotions, conjuring up memories of struggles filled with blank, staring faces of those I have slaughtered around me. Time is only an illusion - how can one gauge the passage of time against a pure white backdrop of snow, ice, and blinding sleet? The sun never ceases to shine, however --

    My time spent there was as dark as Malachai's heart.

    But fear not - we have succeeded in conquering the barren wasteland these Exiles call 'Glacier'. Though it gave us many a challenge, the cold upon our soggy feet drove us forward, towards that which was never too far from our grip to begin with: a belt with the power to extract the very living essence from the most powerful of foes around me. And though our search through Glacier did not show a definitive answer to where this belt lies, I do know this.

    It's close.

    I can feel it.

    ------------

    GLACIER MAPS RUN: 200

    TOTAL TIME TAKEN: 3 hours, 26 minutes, 43 seconds

    AVERAGE PER MAP: 1 minute, 2 seconds (2 seconds FASTER than yesterday, we are getting better at streaming!)

    TOTAL PROFIT: 1732.48 CHAOS

    PROFIT PER HOUR: 502.85 CHAOS (pretty respectable honestly!)

    PROFIT PER MAP: 8.66 CHAOS

    NOTABLE DROPS:

    Exalted orb: 2

    Divine orb: 3

    Annulment orb: 3

    Chayula's Breachstone: 1

    Bladestorm (level 21, 23q): 1

    Maraketh Splinter: 83

    EXTRANEOUS DATA:

    Number of Non-headhunter leather belts dropped: 1

    Percentage of times Monolith spawned in Cavern: 4% (8/200)

    SUMMARY:

    We are finally complete with Glacier maps! I never thought I would live to see the day. However, the next section is going to be pretty cool! I'm going to dive deep into the comparisons between Alleyways and Glacier.

    NOTE: As we were using different builds in Alleyways and Glacier, it is not a true representation of a comparison. What WILL be a true representation is if we focus mainly on the 'chaos per map' stat. The 'chaos per hour' stat will still be quite interesting to check out but the real kicker is how much you get per map just doing Monoliths. So let's begin, shall we?

    ALLEYWAYS and GLACIER: a Detailed Comparison

    First of all, lets look at the main stat: total profit earned in 1000 maps.

    ALLEYWAYS: 9178.78 CHAOS

    Per Map: 9.18 CHAOS

    GLACIER: 8214.1 CHAOS

    Per Map: 8.21 CHAOS

    DIFFERENCE: 964.68 CHAOS (in Alleyways' favour)

    Per Map: 0.97 CHAOS (in Alleyways' favour)

    Right off the bat, we can see that Alleyways has a SUBSTANTIAL total profit earned in 1000 maps - close to a whole 1 chaos per map more! Here's the real interesting thing, however:

    The Saint's Treasure cards dropped in Alleyways (28 of them) totalled 924 CHAOS - this is EXTREMELY close to the difference between Glacier and Alleyways in the total profit! So, without Saint's Treasure cards dropped, the difference would only be 40 CHAOS!!! Out of 1000 maps, that is so very close to each other. Honestly I am so blown away at how close. But enough of that, moving on.

    Next, let's view Time Taken.

    ALLEYWAYS (TOTAL): 17 HOURS, 50 MINUTES, 21 SECONDS

    Per Map: 1 minute, 4.22 seconds

    GLACIER (TOTAL): 15 HOURS, 59 MINUTES, 51 SECONDS

    Per Map: 57.59 seconds

    DIFFERENCE: 1 HOUR, 50 MINUTES, 30 SECONDS

    Per Map: 6.63 SECONDS (in Glaciers Favour)

    This time, it has swung back around in Glacier's favour! Being 6.63 seconds faster per map really does add up, as you can see in all of this data here. Again, I will just say that as the builds were different it is not a 100% true comparison in the time it takes for the maps, but I am confident enough to say that the builds were of similar speed.

    So, what happens if we calculate Glacier to be run for the same time as Alleyways? How close will the profit be then? (this will be calculated assuming Glacier's speed per map is 58 seconds, rounded to the closest whole number).

    If Glacier was run for 1 hour, 50 minutes, and 30 seconds longer, we can assume that 113.92 more maps could be run. This means that 935.28 CHAOS extra would be earned.

    Hang on, that makes is so extremely close together! In fact, if they were run for the same amount of time, there would only be a difference of:

    29.4 CHAOS! OVER 1000 MAPS!

    This is absolutely crazy. I could not have guessed how close this would be in a million years. That's the stats everyone, hope you enjoyed it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    GRAND TOTAL STATS:
    GRAND TOTAL MAPS RUN: 2000
    GRAND TOTAL PROFIT: 17392.88 CHAOS
    GRAND TOTAL PROFIT PER MAP: 8.7 CHAOS
    GRAND TOTAL TIME SPENT: 33 HOURS, 50 MINUTES, 12 SECONDS (including selling and buying time)
    GRAND TOTAL PROFIT PER HOUR: 514.02 CHAOS
    GRAND TOTAL TIME PER MAP: 1 minute, 0.9 seconds (again, we are now 0.1 seconds slower than yesterdays average.)
    Chaos left until Headhunter Purchasable (according to Poe.Ninja as of 3:24am AEST, 30/07/19):
    6711.22 CHAOS
    We are 1792.38 chaos closer than we were yesterday! What a good day.
    ESTIMATED MAPS REMAINING: ~ 771 (206 less than yesterday)
    ESTIMATED TIME REMAINING: 13 hours, 3 minutes, 51 seconds
    This was a crazy day. Crazy times. Check me on Twitch! I'm gonna be streaming tomorrow and making a new build for the next leg!!!!
    Badger out.
    Completely addicted to opening chests...
    Posted: 29 Jul 2019 09:24 AM PDT
    I think I need help. I'm a broke casual standard player who has a few characters in red maps. I know I should be plowing through maps at high speed, but I cannot help but open every single chest I see. I tell myself it is a waste of time, and to ignore them, but I click on all of them. I don't think I've ever found anything above a vaal orb inside one, but I tell myself "maybe this one will drop an exalt" and I click away, only to hate myself after.
    If you don't mind, please either point me towards a 'chest opening addictions group', or flame me into realizing I'm a silly noob, and that I should be racing through maps as fast as possible.
    Which skill from another ARPG would you like to see in Path of Exile but with a "PoE twist"?
    Posted: 29 Jul 2019 01:34 AM PDT
    The twist would be that it could actually work with a certain amount of support gems.
    Crazy idea: Get rid of Chisels and apply a base quantity/rarity to tiers of maps
    Posted: 29 Jul 2019 02:05 AM PDT
    So, I had this idea which may or may not be stupid. But I think we could remove Chisels from the game and instead apply a base rarity/quantity bonus to maps based on their tier. It could start low and incrementally increase up to T16.
    Right now, there doesn't seem to be enough incentive for running higher tier maps besides xp gain. This way, if T16 maps say had a 30% quantity/rarity bonus built in, it would help to equal out the loot distribution compared to alch/go on lower tiers. Also, there would be extra reward/incentive for shaping the lower tier farming maps such as Burial Chambers, UGS, Glacier, etc.
    I don't know if this has been suggested before, but I personally haven't seen it. This seems like a better system than currently exists, imo. What do you guys think?
    NA League HC Aurabot looking for leveling pals next league
    Posted: 29 Jul 2019 10:26 AM PDT
    Hey everyone,
    I made a post a few weeks back looking to make some friends. I did indeed making some friends. However, a lot of them are SC and aren't interested in leveling HC.
    I've been playing with one person on HC, who I probably will level with next league, but I'd like to make some other friends and he's much more HC experienced than I and will probably level faster / I don't think he'd say no to having a larger group.
    I intend on making an aura bot, probably guardian. I'd like to level aura bot from the go rather than have to respec at the start of the league so that means you're dealing the damage during leveling.
    I'm fairly experienced in path, I switched to HC a few weeks ago and I'm in the mid 80s right now with an ED trickster. I lost a lot at first and died in the 80s a few times but I'm working on getting my "first timer" mistakes out of the way.
    Thanks in advance!
