I found out something REALLY cool about Desecrate + Spectres + Detonate Dead. Take a look. Posted: 12 Sep 2019 06:52 AM PDT (Spreadsheet of this information at this link!) I've had a pretty slow start to the league (internet troubles *shakes fist*), but when I could, I have been slowly playing and making my way through the acts. I decided on making a self-cast Desecrate+Detonate Dead character, due to the recent Necro buffs in max life increases from the ascendancy, as well as corpse generation + desecrate cooldown removed. Due to me wanting to be interesting/maybe dumb, I decided on focussing increasing just the initial 6% max life of corpse explosion (meaning no spell damage modifiers affect it - only the max life of corpses + fire, elemental, area, and flat increased damage). Naturally, when I decided on a theory-crafted build without consulting any previous builds/guides, during most of my waking hours and work hours I begin to ponder on certain intricacies with my build. Today, on a fairly slow day at work, something struck me. My current build uses Self-Cast Detonate Dead linked to Unleash and Spell Cascade - meaning that for each cast of Detonate Dead, I can clear 9/10 of the mobs for each Spell Echo + Desecrate made. So, if corpses from the Spectres I summon also appear, I can summon extremely high life Spectres and thus, increase the explosion damage on Detonate Dead. I did some initial testing, and it seems that this works. However, this only lead me down an even more interesting train of thought, and eventually, data-analysis. Get ready. Desecrate adds the current spectre you have into your summon pool - this thing most people know - meaning that if I have a Solar Guard (just as an example, these guys have pretty poor life compared to some other summons) as a summon, I will also be able to desecrate that Solar Guard in any zone I am in. But I began to wonder - does the number of Spectres you summon affect the amount of non-generic monsters spawned by desecrate? I began with an initial test of 100 sets of desecrate cap of 10 (spell echo+desecrate) initially with one Spectre summoned, and then two spectres, calculating the amount of Spectre corpses spawned per desecrate cap. The results are as shown: 1 Spectre Summoned: 0.9 per Desecrate Cap 2 Spectres Summoned: 0.76 per Desecrate Cap As you can see, there is a little amount of variation. In fact, it hinted at the opposite of what I originally hypothesised. However, as this was only over a sample size of 100, these values aren't truly accurate - keep this in mind. I wasn't convinced that there was any difference - and honestly, why would there be? It doesn't really make sense from a programming standpoint. So thus, the conclusion was drawn. CONCLUSION: NUMBER OF SPECTRES SUMMONED DOES NOT INCREASE NON-GENERIC MINION SPAWN ON DESECRATE Thanks everyone for readi -- Wait. There is no way I could leave this there. We didn't find any juicy information! I began to ponder. Hard. Sure, it seems that the spectre number summoned of the same spectre doesn't affect the pool. But... Do multiple different spectres each have self-contained spawn rates when Desecrated? Meaning, if I have three different monster types summoned as spectres, will they all share the same average per Desecrate cap summon, or will they all function on their own different spawn rate? To do this, I ran two more samples, then used this formula - (Average Spectre monster per Desecrate cap * flat life total) + (average non-Spectre monster per Desecrate cap * flat life total) With this, I was able to run these samples through my little test: 2 spectres of different kinds; and 3 spectres of different kinds. And what I found... well. Here's the data (also in a spreadsheet at the top of the post). I have assumed certain things, such as base monster life of generic monsters spawned by desecrate, and I also consulted poedb.tw for this. IF ASSUMED: Average Desecrate monster life: 1.3x base life Monster life just for the purpose of testing): 10,000 THEN: Total monster life for Desecrate cap: 130,000 1 SPECTRE SUMMONED: Spectre average per Desecrate cap: 0.77 Spectre life total (Enhanced Vaal Fallen monster): 4.5x base life Flat life total: 45,000 THEN: Total monster life for Desecrate cap: 154,640 % increase total life from original Desecrate: 19% ¬ 2 SPECTRES SUMMONED: Spectre average per Desecrate cap: 1.54 Spectre life total average (Enhanced Vaal Fallen + Sandworn Slaves): 4.45x base life Flat life total: 44,500 THEN: Total monster life for Desecrate cap: 178,510 % increase total life from original Desecrate: 37% ¬ 3 SPECTRES SUMMONED: Spectre average per Desecrate cap: 2.31 Spectre life total average (Enhanced Vaal Fallen + Sandworn Slaves + Rattling Condemned): 4.333x base life Flat life total: 43,333.33 THEN: Total monster life for Desecrate cap: 200,069.23 % increase total life from original Desecrate: 54% ---------------------------- HOLY GUACAMOLE, EXILES. From this small test, we can gain some EXTREMELY interesting information. Basically, with three different types of spectres summoned, we can effectively INCREASE OUR DETONATE DEAD INITIAL DAMAGE BY 50% (or more)!!! This is a really crazy find. I think. I hope I've done my math right. We can also extract from this that there is an average damage increase of 16% PER DIFFERENT SPECTRE SUMMONED, provided the average spectre monster life hovers around 4.43x base monster life. However, there may be diminishing returns on this, and I only have access to 3 spectres as of right now - so I cannot test 4, 5 or more. However, I plan to do so. THIS IS A BUFF. Badger, out. Chris Wilson can we please have a community look into your DevOps team and how operations works? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 07:00 AM PDT As a lead DevOps engineer myself I am constantly watching your development blogs and game design videos. The last few notable videos were your presentation at GDC 2019, and Legion development video with Jonathan? Your lead Dev? He went on to explain how the engine processed diagonal projectiles (freezing pulse and doorways haha) and how they fixed it and other great technical issues they ran into for legion. Those videos were awesome and gives me massive hope for the tech industry and companies like yours. BUT! With the constant community backlash on performance I would like to propose having an interview with your DevOps team. I would also love to write or ask questions if possible. I feel DevOps is one of the most forgotten and behind the scenes departments; yet we are quite important when it comes to scaling a business technically and with social finesse. I really hope you read this as it would mean the world to me to at least socialize in this area. [link] [comments]

Posted: 12 Sep 2019 07:27 AM PDT Just lost another T14 blighted map again because there was a spawn right on the middle. It was less than one step for the mobs to reach the middle. As a zombie summoner, this is pretty much the only way I can lose a blighted map, I can even do them without any towers. But with a spawn like this, even while the mobs die almost instantly, a rare might survive 0.2 seconds and that is enough time to hit the cocoon. It really sucks to lose expensive blighted maps to some shit like this... [link] [comments]

Should blight bosses do 25% damage to the pump instead of 100%? Posted: 12 Sep 2019 06:50 AM PDT You cannot see what is going on in a blight map very easily, so when a boss shows up, normally I notice when he is within half the screens distance from the pump. Maybe to even the playing field, they shouldn't instantly kill the pump in one swing. Thoughts? EDIT: Just wanted to clarify, that I love how hectic the blight maps are. They keep you on your toes to clear everything as fast as possible. Just make us aware that a big boss is coming down the lane. I just wish I had more chances to complete them as the drop rate is so low on them. [link] [comments]

Masters should use their portal MTX when opening Atlas missions Posted: 12 Sep 2019 10:51 AM PDT Each master has their own unique portal, it'd be a nice touch if they used it when opening their atlas mission. EDIT: Maybe they don't use it if you're using a portal MTX, but they do if you're using the default portal. [link] [comments]

Level 92 Miner HCBL - Mines and Traps are EXACTLY the same now. Posted: 12 Sep 2019 05:16 AM PDT At first I was skeptical of the new mines changes, but while leveling I actually had a blast. This comes from someone who plays at least 1 miner or trapper every league. It was one of my fastest, and easiest runs through to maps. But getting into endgame content, and investing in mine throwing speed, and arming speed, I have to say there's no reason to distinguish traps and mines anymore as they function exactly the same way. You throw them and they detonate instantly; or you throw many of them at a boss before they are no longer are invulnerable and it dies instantly, both exactly the same for traps and mines. The only distinguishable difference between mines and traps now is that my index finger hurts because of smashing the default 'D' detonate button. Auras are cool, however you don't actually see them, and offer nothing more than damage reduction and increased damage. The theme is there, but the flavor is not. I like the new mines, and don't want to revert back to old mines now. I think its time to either rethink traps/mines or mash both traps and mines together, because its silly differentiating the two at the moment. Rest of the league is cool though, except for the oils, please allow for at least mid-tier oils to drop 1/10th of the time in red maps. [link] [comments]
PSA: Aggressive + Defensive AI do not cancel each other out -- defensive AI takes priority. Posted: 12 Sep 2019 12:13 PM PDT From the Necromancer gem reveals:
This is actually not the case. Minions supported by both of these gems are ONLY defensive. This can be easily observed by casting far away from you without any supports in while in hideout - minions will go where you cast. But with meat shield + feeding frenzy, even though feeding frenzy should cancel out the defensive AI, they stay next to you. (And yes, I've tested in mapping as well, it's the case there too, and they only attack monsters close to you) Not sure if I prefer it like this or not, actually. It has it's advantages, I suppose.
