    Blight Tower cheat sheet

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 08:44 AM PDT

Performance is a joke and it's getting worse with every league

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 08:42 AM PDT

I've never complained about game performance before, my game was running fine when syndicate was destroying everyone's game etc., but at this point I just can't ignore the issues anymore.

    • I've ran a Chimera map and crashed 5 (!!!!) times. 3 times to harbingers, 1 while doing Blight, and 1 when Chimera did the cloud phase (fun fact: clouds didn't render after relaunching the game, so I was running around blind trying to find him).
    • Blight encounters on juiced maps with over 6 lanes are literally unplayable, not sure how do people manage if they actually have to aim their spells.
    • Uber elder fight crashed 2 times upon various attacks/animations
    • Harbingers crashed/freezed my game EVERY single time I've encountered them, did 3 maps with zana mod for testing purposes.
    • Legion encounters either crash every time, or the game freezes for a solid 5 seconds upon opening and when the timer runs out
    • An endless list of other various crashes / freezes with different encounters and boss attacks etc.

I know this is just another angry complaint out of the hundreds out there, but if GGG doesn't do anything about game performance and stability, it will reach a point of no return, because adding extra stuff every 3 months into the game and not caring about performance is really starting to show. As suggested by many before, they should skip a league or two and use those couple of months to fix the hundreds of performance/stability/QOL issues. In the meantime, they could run some kind of a mayhem/etc event just like at the end of leagues.

If anyone wants to know my specs:

    • i5-6500
    • 16GB 2666Mhz HyperX
    • EVO 850 SSD
    • Strix GTX 1060-6GB

    3.8.1 Patch Notes

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 02:11 PM PDT

    https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2644202

    Blight Improvements

    • Increased the amount of reward chests from each lane in Blighted Maps.

    • The rewards from Blighted Maps can now include Oils.

    • Reduced the amount of monsters that spawn during Blighted Maps. The intention is to reduce the impact on performance while still retaining difficulty.

    • Reduced the chance that Blighted Monsters will create Beyond Portals on death. Blighted monsters can no longer have the Cannot Die, Shroud Walker, Soul Conduit, Fractured or Group Frenzy on Death modifiers.

    • Blighted monsters that cast Proximity Shield can no longer cast the skill if they are already inside of a Proximity Shield. Blighted monsters that have active Proximity Shields will now disable them if they become affected by another shield. This should result in far less overlap.

    • Reduced the Life of Minions spawned by Summoning Towers. Increased the amount of delay before new minions are summoned after an existing set of minions has died. Increased the life of Minions spawned by Sentinel Towers but added a short delay before they are summoned again after dying.

    • Substantially increased the damage of minions summoned by a Scout Tower.

    • Added telegraphing effects to Knucklegnaw's Slam skill.

    • The split-versions of Sporeplume now deal less damage, take more damage, and have a shorter attack range.

    • Prophecies can no longer trigger when entering Blighted Maps.

    • You can no longer use a Blighted Map as part of an Atlas Mission, as they do not work. They did not previously consume Atlas Missions because of this.

    • Hovering over a tower-building UI element now indicates that it is less effective against Blighted enemies of the same type (as shown on the Blight Portal UI).

    • Updated the names of some ring enchantments so that their name matches their effect. This doesn't affect the functionality of existing items at all.

    • The Ball Lightning skill used by Ephrexis, Blight Strider now releases additional smaller Ball Lightning projectiles as it travels.

    • Ystral, Winter Stalker now uses a more dangerous version of his Sunder skill.

    • Fixed a bug where Blight Portals could spawn too close to the Ichor Pump.

    • Fixed a bug where Rattleback, Hollow Matriarch could become immune to damage if it died while Petrified.

    • Fixed a bug which prevented Banisher of the Cleansed from spawning.

    • Fixed a bug where Blight Towers and Minions summoned by Blight Towers were benefiting from Map Modifiers.

    • Fixed a bug where an open tower building UI element would close if you had gained enough resources to upgrade a different tower.

    • Fixed a bug where Blight monsters spawned by a Minion Portal did not ignore minions spawned a Summoning Tower.

    • Fixed a bug where Blighted Frozen Titans were not removed when failing a Blight Encounter.

    • Fixed a bug where, in Blighted Maps, Cassia did not warn you that monsters were close to the pump.

    • Fixed a bug where Blighted Maps would begin spawning monsters immediately after you had built your first tower if you had not yet completed the "Strange Growths" Blight quest.

    • Fixed a bug where the "Start Blight Encounter" button lingered for a short duration after being clicked.

    • Fixed a bug where transforming an Amulet into a Talisman removed its Anointed Notable passive.

    • Fixed a bug where casting Vaal Breach counted as opening a Breach for the sake of the "Open Breaches" challenge.

    Miscellaneous Improvements

    • Updated the Atlas Missions information panel to correctly refer to the fact that five Atlas Missions will accumulate daily, rather than two at random.

    • Updated the description text underneath Vagan, Victory's Herald on the Betrayal Board to match his new rewards.

    • Smoke Mine can no longer be re-armed.

    • Smoke Mine now has a 0.15 second delay before it can be thrown again to prevent accidentally throwing multiple in a row when you have very high mine throwing speed.

    • Burning Damage Support and Elemental Focus Support can now support Summon Skitterbots while it is also supported by Infernal Legion.

    • Improved performance when large amounts of corpses are nearby when using the Essence Glutton ascendancy passive.

    • Improved the performance of spell projectiles cast by Skeleton Mages.

    • Fixed a bug where some Atlas Missions were sometimes generated based on the percentage of monsters slain in a map, rather than when the map boss was slain. Daily missions are not affected by this fix.

    • Fixed a bug where Jun's missions granted less Favour than intended.

    • Fixed a rare bug where The Elder was sometimes able to move despite being chained up during his Unstable phase.

    • Fixed a bug where, when you had a Safehouse and Mastermind encounter ready to run, if you ran the Mastermind encounter first, your Safehouse area level would be reset. Safehouse area level is now maintained when your Betrayal board is reset.

    • Fixed a bug where the Cursed Concoction passive skill would cause Blasphemied Curses to be removed from yourself after using a Mana Flask.

    • Fixed a bug where monsters would try to attack your Mines or Traps, even though they were not able to hit them.

    • Fixed a bug where Mine Auras, Plaguebearer, Infernal Legion and the Corpse Pact "Chilled and Shocked" Auras were unable to damage Totems.

    • Fixed a bug introduced in 3.8.0 where the Primordial Might unique jewel did not make Golems Aggressive.

    • Fixed a bug where the "+X to Level of all Minion Skill Gems" modifier did not apply to Minion Attack skills.

    • Fixed a bug where projectiles that killed or destroyed a target would continue travelling (without having any behaviour modifiers that would allow them to do so).

    • Fixed a bug that allowed crafting the "Minions have x% increased Movement Speed" modifier onto an item that already had a non-crafted version of that modifier.

    • Fixed a bug where Banner Skills were not granting their associated buffs when placed.

    • Fixed a bug where ground effects and some Auras were not being applied immediately, but after a short delay.

    • Fixed a bug where, when a Minion was both Aggressive and Defensive, it was Defensive. The correct behaviour should be that the minion has default behaviour.

    • Fixed a bug introduced in 3.8.0 where Volatile Dead's targeting was very indecisive.

    • Fixed a bug where Cobra Lash could be supported by Mirage Archer Support. This change does not affect functionality as this interaction did not actually work.

    • Fixed a bug where the "Steelskin Buff can take x% increased amount of Damage" enchantment modifier also applied to Bone Armour.

    • Fixed a bug where Blink and Mirror Arrow clones could only hit a single enemy per attack, even when firing multiple projectiles.

    • Fixed a bug where Double Strike supported by Melee Splash did not play visual effects on hit.

    • Fixed a bug introduced in 3.8.0 where some monsters that used Suicide skills did not play an effect.

    • Fixed a bug introduced in 3.8.0 where the "Your Chaos Damage has 60% chance to Poison Enemies" modifier on The Consuming Dark unique Fiend Dagger did not work.

    • Fixed a rare bug where Legion Generals could sometimes be invisible.

    • Fixed a bug where Piety could create Burning or Chilling Portals in unwalkable locations.

    • Fixed a bug where The Cursed King in the Dark Forest Map could sometimes cast his Wolf Transform skill immediately after finishing his Wolf Barrage skill.

    • Fixed a bug where Plague Bearer's visual effect covered up the effects of Ringmaster Aura Effect.

    • Fixed a bug where Celestial Raised Zombies did not submerge after dying.

    • Fixed an instance crash that could occur when using Wave of Conviction supported by Unleash Support.

    • Fixed a client crash that could occur with the "Exception Present" error message.

    • Fixed a buffer overflow disconnect that could occur at deep Delve depths.

144 hours of playtime this league, not a single silver oil. How long am I supposed to keep farming???

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 04:03 AM PDT

My main char has 6 days+ ingame playtime now, thats 144 hours, im level 96 in HC, 153 completion.

Lets say you play a healthy way, unlike me, lets say 6 hours a day maybe, thats 24 days, lets say thats 3 weeks.

So basically i played 3 weeks and didnt get a SINGLE silver oil after upgrading all the ones i have. The highest oil drop ive seen so far is black oil, got 2 of those, other than that only lower tier oil.

To put that into perspective, in this 144 hours of playtime i crafted 3 6links myself and farmed a shavronnes through cards and beat every boss in the game, finished the zana quest and so on, I am basically done, but my oil progression is basically 0.

Considering I want at least one GOLDEN oil and I need 3 silver oils to get that, I would have to play 9 weeks+ to farm myself ONE golden oil to enchant a SINGLE character.

Not even considering I dont even have a silver oil yet lol and you need 2 for the really good stuff.

    What were they thinking?

Why can i still find the absolut lowest tier oil in T16 maps?

Why do oils not drop in blighted maps?

I chisel and alch my maps and then find chisels and alchs in maps, so why would it be so bad to find oils in blighted maps?

Last leagues endgame encounter was only doable by the <1% headhunter guys. This leagues endgame rewards is again only obtainable by the <1% through insane amounts of currency or 100days of playtime.

so 99% of us are fucked basically.

I feel like this league went from anointing to annoying real quick, the goal is so far away I really dont care anymore.

Heads up, if you've been running a lot of Einhar missions then he might be holding a lot of chaos for you

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 03:28 AM PDT

You can check beast prices here https://poe.ninja/challenge/beasts

I had 2 Craicic Chimerals and 1 Fenumal Plauged Arachnid.

To check if you have anything open up the Bestiary ('H' or talk to Einhar) and click on the bottom tab and use the search bar in the bottom.

To capture the beast take a chaos to Einhar in the Menagerie and purchase the bestiary orb then open up the bestiary again and use the orb on the creature you want to sell. The orb should get the name and the mods and you can sell it normally.

DOCTOR and SAINTS TREASURE in ACT 4 POG!

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 10:43 AM PDT

    Dying sucks, here's why.

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 01:58 AM PDT

Everyone's talking about how this league is the worst for HC, and they're right, what's missing however is how bad HC is to begin with. I've been playing this game since Beta and frequently browse this subreddit and I among all the deaths I've seen most of them are just dumb luck, maybe it's biased because dumb luck deaths will be the most predominantly posted, but it's not like my experience is any better.

Yes if you become better at the game you can avoid a great chunk of deaths and I've been dying less and less from league to league, but with the game as it is there's a good percentage of deaths that are unavoidable, where it was impossible for you to react quickly enough to what's going on.

The game is too fast, just look at how many people run their Steelskin/Immortal Call on CwDT rather than self cast, even at instant cast time you can rarely see the hits you need to "block" and there's so much going on that it's a pointless endeavor to do so.

There's too much going on(and this was before the last two leagues which just clutter the game even more), and most of it isn't clear to the player, the worst example of this is the Malachai fight. The fight is in an arena that's all red, Malachai throws red projectiles at you, and casts spells with red vfx, and red AoEs while red worms are squirming around and red monsters are attacking you, it's insane.

Ironically they've been getting better at communicating these things but it's still confusing as shit, because while the vfx are clearer now it's hard to tell how dangerous or damaging a skill is or in some cases it's like the Elder circle aoe thing I coulnd't tell the first time whether I should be on the inner circle or outer circle, and that confusion might have erased hundreds of hours of progress if I was on HC. Speaking of Elder, he has the same problem as the Malachai fight except this time it's grey on grey rather than red on red, grey projectiles, grey tentacles, grey mobs; no contrast whatsoever.

Defense is mostly about stat checking rather than positioning and mechanical play, people love to show how "complex" the game is with the passive tree but once you understand how it works pathing becomes trivial, you just stack as many defensive nodes as you can while picking up the most efficient offensive nodes. Granted this is a puzzle in and of itself as more options are available but it's nowhere near as complex as it first seems. Defense is all about stacking as many layers as you can and doing your best to avoid damage.

And now on top of all that, on top of all the clutter of skill vfx and things you have to pay attention to, the game has the gall to let monsters Crit you, as if damage needed to be even less predictable.

So in conclusion the choice between SC and HC has nothing to do with whether you want a more challenging game but whether you want a more punishing game, the two are not the same. If you play HC you get to experience less content, and move at a much slower pace through content, because the game is so random and callous that you can and will die through no fault of your own.

HC does not offer an alternative game mode but simply a worse version of an existing one, and I can't imagine why you'd want to play it.

Legion droprates would have been perfect for Blight and vice versa, here is why.

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 07:09 AM PDT

It is no secret that droprates have been toned down by a lot after Legion, it well reflected in the trade market.

I would call myself a seasoned player, usually not having much trouble acquiring currency to pour into trading, crafting, mapping or investing into "endgame" content. I also play with a group, mixed with other seasoned players and some less seasoned people and we all are having a "hard" time with the market, especially in regards of crafting because it takes so much more effort now for a single piece of gear. The last time where i felt it was as difficult to earn things was when i started out for the first time during Incursion.

Legion droprates would have been perfect for Blight because apparently there is no Glacier equivalent or anything that comes closes to it, especially because everyone takes the same amount of time for the encounter. It closed the gap between all the zoom builds and more casual or slower builds to the point where i would say that both play styles have never been as balanced as they are now, you only have to be able to finish the encounter.

If Legion never allowed for 40 seconds monolith popping builds that completed several hundred maps a day currency wouldn't have been as abundant as it was.

What Legion and it's droprated did tho was keeping me engaged. With the available currency i was able craft a lot for alternative gear pieces, buy unique alternatives and tinker around with them, etc. I also did this with three different characters that in the end, though being my most powerful characters so far, had some form of versatility and i could pick different playstyles depending on situation or my mood.

With Blight it is totally different. The encounters are way more joyful than Legion was but are super unrewarding. So is mapping in general.

I actually would like to play a summoner that is super versatile, or a miner, or even both- but i won't. I could use budget options and eventually some currency would come by so i can upgrade but this would feel like a lot of tedious work and a lot of hours grinding and grinding and i am not willing to do that in the current economy.

As a result of that i will also skip out on the mtx's for miners and summoners. Although celestial stuff becomes a bit boring i like the summoner pack and i really love the miner mtx's but since i will not play those, i am not gonna spend money for possible future characters.

Anyways, enough of my rant but i really would like to suggest using the droptable from Legion for Blight.

There most likely will be the most efficent map and Layout that lets you start the encounter, clear the map and come back but "who cares". People who have to knowledge will get rich anyways but slower paced and more casual players will never have access to crafting and such.

Also i would also like to suggest to up the number of Blighted map drops, especially if the portal distance issue can't be fixed. People wouldn't complain as much about losing a map to this if it wasn't the only map they had after several days.

Blight is fun but is only one of many parts of this game. Allow people to enjoy all aspects of it, not only the unrewarding map encounters.

Cheers, good luck and stay safe.

    Syndicate Cheat Sheet and Script

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 12:11 AM PDT

    Blank Cheatsheet

After seeing a thread the other day for a syndicate cheat sheet, there still seemed to be some desire for a less compact version. Everyone also seems to have a hard time agreeing on what they want to prioritize so I made a simple python script that lets you prioritize what you want. It provides an interface where you click each of the cells to change its the colour, then you just screenshot the page and you're good to go. You can easily customize the colours, text, and swap out images. So going forward anyone can easily update it for patches/mistakes.

If your not interested in trying the script, I have included an example below without any cells highlighted if you like the format. I based the design mostly on the images floating around Reddit (credit to whoever made those such as). If you notice any mistakes or have any feedback lemme know. Also I can only confirm it works on windows, OSX doesn't because of some RGBA problem with tkinter; I'm not sure about linux. If you have a screen smaller than 1920x1080 the script currently wont fit in your screen but their are scroll bars so you can stitch screenshots together if you want. I plan on improving it going forward, I just wanted to get a stable version working so I could get back to farming :).

*Edit* If anyone want's a custom one today that cant/doesn't want to run the script ping me in comments with a formatted list like BRBBGY..... for each row... with the capital letter representing the colour (Black, Red, Yellow, Green) from top left, left to right. Or just which cells to set to non default, some form thats easy to understand, I'll see what I can do.

*Edit2* Added save option for anyone interested. Cntrl+s to save or save when closing the window.

    Github Repo

Example Cheatsheet - No these are not my suggestions ;)

    Setup Instructions

    • Download python 3.7+ (otherwise you need to install tkinter separately). Ensure to click option to add to path during installation otherwise you will have to add manually.
    • If either of the commands below don't run and say like cant find pip or python you will need to add the python folder and the sub folder scripts to your system path (Python 3 default location should be somewhere in your appdata folder)
    • install pillow via command line with "pip install pillow".
    • Download or Clone the Github repo
    • Run via command line with "python core_gui.py" or double click the file in windows
    • Click boxes to change colours
    • Screenshot window and save picture for your own personal cheat sheet

The mystery of the dense fossil buyer

    Posted: 17 Sep 2019 06:10 PM PDT

During the past couple leagues, I have noticed one person whispering me to buy some dense fossils. The message always looks like this:

Hi, I would like to buy your Dense Fossil in Blight (stash tab "x"; position: left y, top z)

    1-c

    need 100

And if you try to ask him what he is trying to craft, he will respond with something like

    sorry no english only russian

So my initial thought is, alright this man is just trying to make some profit from fossil crafting, perhaps vaal regalias or something. I recalled a website someone mentioned on this subreddit previously where you could look up someones public stash tab using the API so I decided to check it out.

At the time of this post he has 800+ dense fossils sitting in his currency tab in Blight SC.
    Link
    Screenshot

Even more odd however, is that he has 70,000 dense fossils in a currency tab in standard. So now I have more questions than I had started with.
    Link
    Screenshot

EDIT: Likely solved. Seems like he wants to collect 1 million dense fossils in standard. u/ExiledDude whispered him in game and got this response. Also looks like he made a reddit account to try and respond to this thread using google translate here. Although that doesn't explain why he is selling dense fossils for 4.5c each on standard like u/erne33 found here.

You don't realise how many Unique Item's are in the game until you play SSF for the first time

    Posted: 18 Sep 2019 03:35 AM PDT

So this league I decided to play SSF and go as Necro (started playing properly in Breach league), I saw that you can build a very strong character with next to no uniques. Which is very true.

So I'm now level 92 and have been upgrading the gear as i go, the last thing I need is a Victario's Charity, will it drop?...WILL IT HELL!!!

Everytime I hear that noise from the neversink look filter my anticipation grows and I'm inevitably dissapointed. I must have chanced 200+ bases now, added rarity to my gear as much as I can, rarity support as 6th link on my tabula, used more unique scarabs...and I just can't get the damn thing to drop.

So going back to my original point...there are so many uniques in this game, I've saved pretty much all of them, I have 2 normal and 2 quad tabs full of them. When I played trade league I just used to do a quick price check and vendor most of the time. It's not until you play SSF that you can appreciate how many there actually are.

P.S. Despite this I'm actually loving playing SSF and I intend to play this from no on in all new leagues.
