Elemental hit ballista scion wander with all 3 elements

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 05:16 PM PST

    https://pastebin.com/hSpAZeNE (edited some things)

As the league gets closer im starting to theorycraft more and more. After play testing Ele hit ballista i really wanted to make it work. Trying all kind of setups (bow/wand, deadeye/hiero/scion) i think i finally hit the spot. I dont think it's gonna be great but i think i will still go for it. The dmg with absolutly nothing is pretty respectable and i believe this build can scale really well into endgame. Some thoughts:

-I'm aware that patch notes aren't out yet but i will make changes if needed

-Crown of the inward eye might be hard to get day 1 but i believe day 2/3 should be easily accesible

-Sadly i cant take EE with this build cuz totems :<

-OK'ish defense with 7+k eHP with mediocre gear and acro+phase acro (The gear i use is super budget outside of uniques which arent expensive either)

-3 caping Wise Oak might be ass early on

If someone has any idea which uniques i could use, maybe change smth in links/gems/tree feel free to comment :>

[STD] Spellslinging EE Inquisitor, could it work?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2020 02:01 AM PST

Hi, i'm planning to build a spellslinger inquisitor in the new league, taking advantage of Spellslinger's trigger on all linked spells.

My main idea was to have an attack trigger Ball Lightning, Freezing Pulse and Magma Orb at the same time, and get EE. Since all 3 spells trigger at the same time but have different travel times, this should make all hits benefit from EE.

Of course it would need to actively avoid added elemental damage to spells or it will completely ruin EE.

    Would this idea work?

3.9 max level 72 player need suggestions on what to do

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 06:03 PM PST

Hello pretty new player here, about 102hrs playtime on steam and just pretty excited to try and see how far I can go for the upcoming league.

Taking 3 days off of work for league start as well!

Anyhow I played lacerate this league wasn't really into it that much and died quite a lot and didn't end up enjoying it as much, just saw a popular guide on youtube on it. So I feel like I should try and get some suggestions on what to do to help me progress further instead of what looks nice, like the build im eyeing right now (CoC Assassin), I've only ever played MOBAs like league and dota and always played AP casters/Mage type heroes so if that helps narrow the suggestions down. Basically I wanna try something flashy this time around while also getting things done. My realistic goal rn probably is to reach lvl 90+ so anything that can achieve that and yes my goal is to play more than what I did this league! Thank you.

    Viability of frostblink

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:35 PM PST

Is it possible to get frostblinks cool down low enough to make a decent killing skill? Like even if you still have to hit four or five enemies to refresh the whole cool down the fact that it counts enemies at both start and end points now it would make that even easier but I don't know how low yiy can get the cool down for it with some investment on the tree or enchantments.

    Build Help

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 04:26 PM PST

Hey guys, I've been working for two days to create my very first build and I want opinions on it. Despite me having close to 500 hours play time I still barely know anything I feel. My past characters are as follows:

    • Poet's Pen Arc Occultist (barely go to Oriath before quitting, poor choice of league starter) | 1day 5hrs playtime | 232 deaths | patch 3.5
    • Ice Crash Jugg | White maps | 3 days 12 hours | 283 deaths | patch 3.5
    • Bane Occultist | White maps | 1 day 19 hours | 257 deaths | patch 3.6
    • CI Summoner (the 77 minions one) | Topped out around T13 | 3 days 19 hours | 120 deaths | patch 3.8
    • CI Whispering Ice Scion | Topped out around T11 maps | 4 days | 412 deaths | 3.9
    • Ice Shot Deadeye | Finished most atlas, current gear one shots nearly any map mobs even when alched but get utterly destroyed by metas and bosses (couldn't even do uber lab on my own at lvl 90) | 4 days 14 hours | 753 deaths | patch 3.9

Some background on me. Huge RPG fan, hundreds, possibly thousands of hours in JRPGs (eg FF series), >3000 hours WoW, >2000 hours FF14, >1000 hours "ARPGs" (Grim Dawn, D3, Last Epoch, etc). All of those games are far more "active" (poor word choice, I mean they all use self cast skills) than PoE. The first time I felt successful at this game is why I played the summoner, but my god was it boring. I've seen VoDs of various mine/totem/summoner/brand builds and they all look so boring. I don't want to hide in a corner waiting on something to die. I'm not sure if what I want exists, but I would love a build that is:

    Clear Speed 6+/10 Bossing 7+/10 Survivability 8+/10

I'm so freaking tired of dying all the time but don't want to take 80min to kill Sirius like that Smite build that was posted to reddit yesterday. Anyway, without a good understand of skill gem linking or crafting, I've created a fire dmg Hierophant with several layers of defense (MoM, block, spell block, armor, es, 80 all res, immune to bleed, immune to poison (with pantheon) that I hope is obtainable. I'm going to attempt to league start this even though the wand and boots and probably other pieces aren't going to be affordable for awhile. Regardless, how does this look:

    https://pastebin.com/G9dpq5Pr

TLDR; trying to make a tanky build that can still clear and be fun, preferably with self cast. Not good with crafting or skill gem combos yet so this is uniques only for now

    Please be gentle

What league start build is good for clearing and tanky?. In my mind atm is hoag jugg. I tried summoners in 3.8 and it was afk mode all the way till Uber elder. So I won't be playing summoners.

    Question regarding picking starting build/class

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 08:26 AM PST

So I was looking at all the new mana skills they revealed yesterday and I'm pretty interested in dabbling in those this league. I also work quite a bit and often have some limited playtime. I'm hoping to start with a tried and true skill that can build currency quickly and hopefully transitioning into a new skill as long as they are viable.

My question is mostly what skills would you recommend starting with as well as what class would be good so that I can respect later without having to level a new character.

Spellslinger + Bladefall+ Bladeblast (Can i make this work?) Advice needed

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 03:28 PM PST

The idea is I want to make a build utilizing the bladeblast.
Best idea ive gotten so far is using spellsllinger to trigger it.
    Link would look like

Bladefall - Spellslinger - Bladeblast - Spell Cascade - Conc effect - Unleash.
Does reddit think this would be viable?
What should i scale for this, phys or spell damage?
Ideas on what ascendency would fit?

    Bladestorm gladiator starter?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 06:17 PM PST

Was thinking of going dual wield bladestorm gladiator as a starter with the goal of having max block at the end when I can start crafting sword with block on them. Would the idea actually work as a starter tho? Goal isn't going for day 1 uner elder or anything like thst, just something chill and tanky with decent damage.

    SSFHC - Cyclone

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:53 PM PST

    Hi all,

    https://pastebin.com/yfB5P61J

I'm going to be playing SSFHC in delirium, I'm also trying to learn how to make my own builds. I've decided to go for a ngahamas cyclone chieftain knockoff version if it's possible.

My goal is to just make it to yellow maps, be tanky and not die.

Im betting I won't get ngahamas so I'm converting my physical to fire using avatar of fire and the chieftain ascendancy and using a high physical axe.

I'm not sure if this will work or not, but if you guys could take a look at my build and give me tips on the build it self I'd appreciate it a lot.

When I get home from work I'm going to try a practice run.

    Thankyou all :)

League starter. Storm brand Assassin or Inquisitor?

Can someone suggest a gladiator starter?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 10:44 AM PST

I really like my sst bleed gladiator, but I think it would be stupid to actually start this next league.

I am looking for something that uses the attack block as spell block nodes, arena challenger for super speed, and then either blood in the eyes with haemophilia gloves, or the frenzy and endurance charge thing. It can be a sword and shield build because I'll probably have enduring cry anyway.

I'm just having trouble choosing something.

I kind of like projectiles. Is max block spectral throw impale gladiator with a claw stupid?

What about hit based cobra lash?

I'm kinda looking at lacerate, but it's kind of slow and clunky. Maybe with challenger charges it feels ok?

Maybe rain of arrows impale with a red nightmare and rear guard?

Maybe charged dash any weapon? Can look towards a paradoxica and inpulsa for my first big upgrades, and use a shield with movement speed and anything useful. It should be fast with challenger charges. Maybe get enough chance to bleed and use haemophilia anyway.

    Any advice is appreciated.

    Triple Herald BV Elementalist

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 08:31 PM PST

Hello - I'm a relatively new player (Started around 1/2 way through blight) and have had a special place in my heart for Blade Vortex ever since I first tried it. This league, I plan on making at least a few builds playing around with it with various characters and ascendancies, and the first one I've drafted up a POB for is this one. I know it's nowhere near optimal and it's a pretty strange build, but I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'm not sure how to adjust the number of power charges used in POB calculations which should increase the DPS rather drastically, even if it'd still be relatively low. I guess I'm mainly looking for advice on how to get that DPS up - I don't think I'll have too big a problem with squishiness, as I'll be using a bunch of rares to cap resists and pump up my EHP, but am just worried that it still won't be high. Note that this won't be my league start so I don't mind if it gets a bit pricey as long as it's nothing obscene. Thanks in advance, hope it's at least something worth working with.

Help me decide a league starter please

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 06:39 PM PST

So in this new league I've been killing myself over what type of league starter I should run but gladly I've narrowed it down to 2 options

    Miner And Essence Drain

What are the pros and cons between the 2 and if miner is better, what type of mines? Pyroclast, icicle, arc, etc

    Good deep-Delver build?

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 12:38 PM PST

I heard they are glass cannons kind of builds. For this league I want to set myself into building one but I don't know which build follow without mindlessly trying to follow some PoB-warrior's guide.

I read there is one with Flicker Strike and it's a skill I've been wanting to play for a while. Any chance someone can link it? Or any other, really.

    Ignite Armageddon Brand Trickster

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 06:12 PM PST

Anyone able to get decent ignite dps out of this skill?

The new Archmage support screams Trickster to me, so I'm trying to maximize mana, life and burn damage, but am really not able to get decent amounts of anything.

Aiming for at least 150% inc. life, 150% inc. mana, and decent ignite dps.

is that too much to ask for??

    Necro Poison Wander w/ Spellslinging

    Posted: 05 Mar 2020 09:44 AM PST

I wanted to try out a build that focuses on poison stacking with wands and spellslinging some corpse related spells in addition to upkeeping the three main offering spells.

    Here's the PoB link: https://pastebin.com/8D6PWmtd

A couple of things to note:

This build makes use of the spirit offerings "gain phys as extra chaos" by trying to stack physical damage. Therefore, we try to use a high phys wand and take advantage of other sources of gain phys as extra chaos. This includes, our shield, which gives us 8%, and unholy might on block, for another 30%. Spirit offering should be 21%, and our passive gives up 4, which should total to 63% of physical damage added as Chaos.

Also, since we're going necro, I wanted to take advantage of the corpse pact ascendancy node by trying to fit in as many corpse consuming skills. This is mainly the volatile dead and bodyswap for movement. We also need our corpse generator that will be Spellslinger, Desecrate, and spell cascade.

It might seem a bit of a struggle to fit in three corpse spells, desecrate, and the three offerings, but that's where some of our items come in play.

The corpse spells aren't going to be supported by anything other than spellslinger, so their mana reservation will be 15% base. With 5% reduced mana on our helmet, along with a level 3 enlighten, we should be able to get that reservation down to 13% each, totaling 26%.

Our desecrate spell is supported by spell cascade, which would bring it up to 21% reservation, but with the 5% of the helm, it should drop it to 20%.

We will be taking a Herald of Agony, and buffing it up with supports. The Supports I've chosen would bring him up to 50% mana reservation, but with a Circle of Nostalgia ring with at least 35% reduced reservation, it should bring his reservation to 30%.

That means, we'll have 13+13+20+30, or 76% mana reservation. However, we still need to fit in our Offerings.

In order to fit in our offerings, we're going to use a rare wand with the bench craft "Cast a socked spell when you attack with this weapon". Unfortunately, the mod has an internal cooldown of 5 seconds, so we'll need to try to make our offerings last at least 15 seconds in order to upkeep all three at one time. We also need to worry about the leash of oblation's 50% reduced duration. So, we take the 45% increased skill duration nodes near the Scion's starting area, and we take both of them for 90% increased skill duration. Then, with our 40% from the ascendancy, we're at 130% increased duration. If we subtract the 50% reduced from our belt, we're left with 80%. If we assume that each offering will consume their max of 5 corpses, we should be able to have each offering last 18 seconds, which gives up a little leeway and should allow us to upkeep all three with little trouble.

A few other things to note as well:

    • PoB is for a level 90 character. I always make builds that limit to that level since it's easy to achieve.

    • The items in the PoB are terrible and are only there to show the mods I would want on the items. The dps could be higher, but I left a lot of stuff blank or unoptimized because PoB lacks the supports and interactions needed to show the real dps.

    • a Lethal Pride of Kilova allows us to take elemental equilibrium to double our block chance. Since we're using bone offering that caps our attack block and gives us 50% spell block.

    • Don't forget that Spellslinger adds the damage of the wand to the spell, so even though bodyswap and volatile dead are fire based spells, the will have added physical damage.

    • I thought about using physical spells to take advantage of the added chaos, but then I wouldn't have a movement skill, nor would the node Corpse Pact be as good. We should see a lot of added attack speed from the corpse consumption.

    • Ideally, you'd want a Bone Helmet crafting with Bound/Aberrant for +3 minion/5% reduced mana reserved/-9% chaos resistance.

    • A curse on hit despair corruption on gloves or a wand crafted with corroded/aberrant would be ideal, but you really want high physical dps and 60% chance to deal double poison damage on your wand, with an open suffix to craft the cast socketed spell on attack.

    • You don't need to have enlighten on your volatile dead setup. You could replace it with cremation for even more corpse explosions, but you'd be sitting at 95% mana reservation, so unless Kinetic bolt has a low man multiplier, and you have -mana cost invested on your items, then it might not be viable.

    • You can "league start" this build since you're playing a necromancer, you should just play a basic necro until you have the currency to buy the gear you want, then respec and swap over.

Thee's probably a few other things I'm missing, and I'm not 100% sure how good this build can be since I don't have a lot of experience crafting my own builds. Anyway, I'd love some feedback! Thanks for reading!
