PSA: Blinding With Forbidden Rite Totems

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:29 PM PDT

Here's a great tip. Been struggling with survivability on my Forbidden Rite totems build lately. Frustrated with how I have alright life, but little to no avoidance.

For anyone else feeling the same way, small cluster jewels with "Shifting Shadow" passive have the modifier "10% to blind enemies on hit", and despite my thinking that "on hit" wouldn't work on totems, this does. It blinds enemies. And with how many projectiles we usually have hitting the enemy, this practically means if they don't die instantly they're blind instantly instead.

So if you want an easy 50% evade chance, grab it for 2 points and a gem slot. Plus, we need the dexterity it comes with anyways.

Edit: anyone else have any cool tips or interactions? If on hit mechanics work with totems (at least from clusters) what else is a good pick?

Does anybody have a build idea for this helmet's support mods? I can't think of any decent way to scale burning damage on minions since they have reduced ailment effectivity.

Sire of shards is a free +4 projectiles for eye of winter

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 03:44 PM PDT

So I was testing out stuff for eye of winter and discovered that Sire of shards gives +4 projectiles to eye of winter and doesn't change how it functions at all. It essentially gives free GMP without the loss of damage. Granted, extra projectiles aren't necessarily the best for eye of winter, I thought it was a neat mechanic. Combined with the increased projectile damage it isn't that bad of a weapon for a eye of winter build.

Thoughts on and a guide for Shield Crush.

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 08:37 AM PDT

Hello everyone. I've been playing Shield Crush as my league start character and am currently level 97. I've been receiving a lot of messages in game from people who want to know about my build, so I thought I should write some thoughts down.

Overall I have found shield crush to be an excellent league start character. It does not require much expensive gear to start clearing red maps and end game bosses, but still has enough scaling options to end up being an extremely well rounded end game character. I've cleared pretty much all content, including A9 Sirus and the Maven, deathless.

The build provides a good amount of damage while allowing for impressive defensive scaling. I currently have 7.6k hp, 64/64 block, 21k armor, and around 5% hp regen/sec. I also generate endurance charges and have a large amount of life leech. While mapping the build is very hard to kill, especially if you avoid some awful map mods, such as less life recovery rate.

I am currently working on a guide for Shield Crush which you can view here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TK_6P9C5XI-Uyr27xe31oY9ViU34mEh-ZZobuXYHEgc/edit?usp=sharing

This guide is in progress and will be updated as I continue playing my character and learning more about the new skill.

If anyone has questions about the skill or my build feel free to leave a comment and I will try to answer anything that comes up. If you are looking for a new build with great defense and solid damage, I hope you will consider giving shield crush a try.

Does anyone have any build suggestions for somethign they are finding genuinely fun?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:20 PM PDT

I've had two builds stall out in white maps (spectres and TR Raider) and I want to give it one more go before chalking it up to being just disinterested vs not feeling the build. Both those builds were preforming fine, I just wasn't enjoying it. Anyone playing anything they are finding fun? It doesn't have to be super 20m dps end game destroyer, just something that feels good in reds and maybe can push uber elder if it was feeling it.

    Please salvage my raider

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:50 AM PDT

Hi. I have a lvl 52 (act 7 start) raider with tabula and some shit yellow items. I've been playing ice shot, respected into frost blades but it all feels god damn awful to clear and rares take a minute to kill, don't even get me started with brine king. Any tips on how i can continue? I really wanna try this league but feel super unmotivated to play because of this. My tree is somewhat right sided with a bit of ele dmg, life, dodge nodes and i don't have many regrets to spend

Absolution may not be absolute zoom-zoom, but it's solid and fun...

Can you make PoB suggest crafting mods in order of dps increase? (Like with gem link suggestions)

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 05:47 PM PDT

See title, the build I'm going for is a little unorthodox and I would love to see how much any given mod (assuming T1) would add the the build, basically so I could build a best case scenario item easily and go from there

How the hell do you get defences this patch?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 09:19 PM PDT

Seriously, I'm getting popped like every other minute in red maps if I roll any damage mods. Playing Cyclone Staff Chieftain. POB: https://pastebin.com/9Ziry1MD

Build doesn't seem like it should be a glass cannon to me, but I'm dying left and right even without getting frozen/shocked/etc. Sirus mobs, runic mobs, baran mobs, literally anything taps me in t14+ and I die. Do I just not have enough damage to instakill league content before it kills me?

    Layers:

    5.1k life

    fortify with leap slam

    regular leech

    +50% life recovery when hit

    15% phys taken as fire

    5% life regen/s

3 end charges + cwdt immortal call

    50/50 block w glancing blows

    13% chaos res

    Unwavering stance

Is there something else I should realistically be doing? Seems like there's little room for me to add defences to this build. Maybe a timeless jewel? I have like 300c

    Raider or Glad for SST

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:44 AM PDT

    Hello Exiles,

I started as a toxic rain got to lvl 80 and out of the blue I got bored af. I saw that everyone is playing sst right now and I was wondering if it's worth it to respec my raider to sst or if starting again as a gladiator would be better.

Any suggestions? Btw, why is everyone playing sst right now? Does something changed? Sst wasn't new?

Are Lab Runner Builds still a thing?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 07:12 PM PDT

I've never made a lab runner myself, looking for something completely new to do so I don't stop playing. Is there decent currency to be made since the changes to the amount of enchants you get? Any suggestions on a decent budget friendly build?

Champion Blade Trap works, and it's hella fun

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 06:44 AM PDT

So lately I had been theory crafting a champion blade trap build and I thought I would put together a simplicity post on how I put mine together so others are aware. Currently I am Non-crit and still gearing this character but the base concept works and it has been a blast to play with.

Required Items: The at most minimum to play this build is a Sunblast, and an extra 20% reduced trap duration, from other sources. Whether it be a unique jewel, or trap/mine cluster jewel. Now my current variation uses 6 cluster jewels. 2x sword/axe Large, and 4x trap/mine medium cluster jewels. This nets me 100% reduced trap duration, 48% aoe, 40% trap throwing speed, and 20% movement speed for throwing a trap. A large downside of this build is the inability to get regen, because we're champion. We mostly just take alot of reduced damage from hits. The other downside is that AoE skills destroy your traps, Namely damage over time degen like Blight from monsters. This can easily be fixed with an annoint on the passive tree of clever construction if you chose to but its mostly not needed. Now I also use Varunastra in this build. The reason for this, is because Large cluster jewels still apply the old way for varunastra and we double dip on all of the small nodes = 24% damage per small node, and much larger when you get perfect rolled clusters, your ideal cluster for large jewels should have Run Through, Smite the Weak, Vicious Skewering. You medium cluster jewels should all have, Guerrila Tactics, and Set and Forget. With these cluster jewels and passives on the tree you can drop the impale game outright because of other passives, and use a stronger damage link. There are things that do not work with this build in the champion ascendancy that you have to manually proc. NAMELY the Armour from impaling an enemy recently, I have bypassed this just by using whirling blades and linking impale to it so I always impale with my movement skill.

Now I dont have a full indepth build guide for this build yet but I plan on making one as a fully flesh out the gear I just wanted to get it out there that this style of build is a little bit on the gear needed side but you can totally do it with minimal investment, but I currently play it in HC trade league and heres a link to my profile to see my current gearing. It is very low right now and I'm still scaling and have had thoughts of going paradoxica late game and going crit. |https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/ttv_koree Here is a pastebin of my current character as it stands as well| https://pastebin.com/eMSyakiJ | If you have any questions you can also stop by my stream I would be happy to answer them and also talk about other theorycrafting behind blade trap to make it better. | https://www.twitch.tv/koree |

Help transitioning from Spectral Helix Raider

    NEW Spectre Unearthed Runecaster!

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 12:37 PM PDT

Since reaper is pretty bad right now and I'm just sitting around waiting for it to get a buff, I've been messing around with new spectres from Expedition and came across this guy.

He's a fire based spellcaster that has some pretty solid base damage and two spells that are fairly spamable.

The first spell is a projectile so it can be supported by GMP and pierce support which is what I've been using for clearing.

The second spell creates a fairly large circle that explodes after a second or two and supposedly has a 6sec cool down but it seems less than that with how often it's casted. This also has a 15% added chance to ignite.

I've never played a fire based minion so I if anyone has tips on any support gems, auras, uniques, etc. that would scale well that would be great!

Whats an op build right now?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 05:45 PM PDT

I got about 25ex to blow and I dont wanna build my ice trap sabo anymore. It's a glass cannon that doesn't even freeze end game bosses enough to make it worth it. I just want something comfortable that eat hits all day, map comfortably, and be able to do bosses without feeling like one unlucky hit and ill waste a portal.

4 Mil Dps Tri Ele Hit Ascendant with Piscators

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 10:52 AM PDT

Recently ran a tri-ele ele hit wander elementalist in Standard, did not enjoy the slow attack speed.

Revived this concept to create a tri-ele ele hit scion with similar average hit, but much more attack speed and QoL.

    https://pastebin.com/NKpTjVba

Will build this after I get 32 watchstones on my BV Assassin, let me know what can be improved.

Ailment Calculations are done with 140% increased ailment effect and the assumption that we crit.

    A savage loop

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 01:40 AM PDT

    Edit: doesn't work

So I theorised this new (to me) cast when damage taken loop and it works as follows. (Theoristed NOT tested)

    THE LOOP

Step one: To start it, you use your Forbidden taste flask. This fully heals you and then causes you to take 25% of max life as chaos damage.

Step two: This chaos self harm will cause you to trigger a 6-link cwdt rather big mana cost cast.

Step three: Scold's bridle will cause you to take a big hit on your life. This needs to big a Savage Hit meaning more than 15% of max life.

Back to step one: A use when you take a savage hit enchant on our Forbidden taste takes us back to step one.

    TWEAKING

    What are our limitations?

Life, mana, savage hit proccing, flask charges trigger frequency.

Flask charges is straightforward, more gained, less used, chance not to cost etc. Perhaps even a Traitor keystone.

Life and savage hits. More life gives more chaos damage per second taken, making for faster triggering. This also raises the bar for how much damage a savage hit is. There's probably some optimum here depending on which spell you wish to cast. If the bridle damage turns out to be way to high, we get more Physical mitigation.

To proc faster you can add in some lower level cwdt setups to self harm you some more. Mind that these do not proc the flask they just fill up the damage counter for our six link faster. They may also cast something useful while at it. You may also lower your chaos resistance to take more damage from the flask. Or up your chaos resistance if you want to slow down because flask charges or mana can't keep up.

Mana, we'll need it. Damage taken recouped as mana should be a big part of it. Beyond that, clarity and increased regeneration I guess.

SO, WHO CAN SHOW ME THIS IN ACTION?

I'm a slow leveler with limited time and don't have a flask finder character at hand.

Artillery Ballista, how many times overlap?

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 04:37 PM PDT

Help Make Forbidden Rite Totems Tankier

    Posted: 01 Aug 2021 10:21 AM PDT

Loving the build so far, but it's so squishy. Playing on Hiero, MoM, etc. Wondering if anyone has a good PoB to keep the damage strong, but have a tankier version of the build.

LF tanky build with chaos/poison damage

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 01:00 AM PDT

With 3.15 i'm getting OS everywhere and can't go over T9 yellow maps, this is frustrating and not fun. I have difficulty to farm currency/gear and whenever I play I usually rage quit after 2-3 maps.

I'm currently playing forbidden rite self cast, the base (tree + mechanic) is from an old build of mine from 3.13, a dark pact poison build. Was working pretty well and even as a starter. my current build : https://pastebin.com/JmzzJyXw (contain old and actual gear)

So, I was wondering if there is some of you with build chaos/poison that are tanky. I don't mind the clear speed, I just want to have fun playing the game on my feet not from the ground

    cheers

PS : I know that forbidden rite totem seems meta, idk if I want to give a try.
