Rog - Remove X Modifiers with the lowest levels is unnecessary complicated

This is another example how this game is unnecessary complicated and not new-player friendly sometimes.

At first glance, specially if you are a new player, you would assume that it would remove the lowest TIER modifier. (Note: you would also need to toggle an option to actually be able to see the Tier level of the item first)

But no, what this deal does is that it actually checks what is the level of that modifier, and not the tier.

Now you could say: Duuuh, its on the title, its literally written there that it removes the lowest level modifier.

And I would say: Well, you know, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.

But hold on, this one is actually on GGG, because nowhere else in the entire game you can see what is the level of a modifier, so by playing the game, you literally can't tell which modifier is going to be removed, you need to rely on third-party tools to understand what is going to happen to your item.

C'mon GGG, just add the modifier level when we hold ALT on an item, or make the NPC tell me what is going to be removed:

Its surprising how with one single patch the sentiment around PoE2 has changed within the community.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 07:08 AM PDT

If we look back at the type of replies in the last 3-4 leagues when PoE2 has been brought up it has mostly been seen in a hopeful manner and some people almost treated is it as the Holy grail and the next evolution of PoE.

"X problem is really getting out of hand in PoE, they will likely fix it when PoE2 comes out" and other similar statements were constantly thrown around in this sub, some people were always skeptical and would reply that we shouldn't get our hopes so high, but the majority seemed to see it as a positive thing and the one solution to fixing every problem exists in PoE. This was further made worse by Chris, I am not sure if it was on Baeclast or some other interview where he was asked how he would handle managing expectations of the playerbase when every seems to have to have their own opinion on what PoE 2 will fix, his reply was something along the lines of "Yes it would infact address all the problems", which only feeds into the problem of over-expecting (I am not able to find the exact podcast/interview, if someone else remembers which one it is, it would be awesome if they link it), but I digress, we aren't discussing expectation management here. But rather fact that overall community's outlook for PoE 2 has been overwhelmingly positive.

Fast forward to post-3.15 patch, I don't believe is the same anymore, the community seems extremely divided by the new changes and even if they like some of the changes they disagree with various other ones. (I personally don't see an issue with the damage nerfs, it was getting pretty stupid at the mid-high end of things, but I don't agree with the flask/ailment changes, very on the border with the movement skill changes). But due to the way this whole "nerf cycle" was pitched,Chris mentioned how these changes help gauge community reactions and they can get feedback as they can't afford to go wrong with launch on PoE 2 and how many players are perceiving it as "the road to PoE 2" with a series of nerfs and changes coming in the near future. Suddenly we have this new sentiment of "PoE 2 is just PoE with a new Act story line" or "If this is how PoE 2 is going to be, I don't want it", "PoE 2 should be a separate game"

It is honestly fascinating how drastic of a change this is in terms of sentiment, what was once seen as "Salvation" is now the "Be careful what you wish for". I think the BIGGEST problem I with the new changes is the fact that is was too pre-mature and should have been done overtime while addressing the problems these changes create, this is very different from when players "quit" due to a league being unsatisfactory, as they will very likely come back next league to try again. These are changes at a fundamental level of PoE and it is very jarring and most importantly abrupt, which might not just make players "quit" early into the league, but they might actually start sitting this one out. Some might go with the "I'll check back when PoE 2 comes out", but many have started to despise the idea of PoE 2 and those aren't really players GGG is being to get back, unless things change drastically over the next few leagues (COPIUM?). And yes I do understand that a certain demographic leaving is expected and maybe they were never meant to be the target demographic for the game, but this does effect community morale significantly. Statements like "How long do you think GGG is gonna take to change their stance again?" are rampant and I can see why that's the case, they actively encouraged Speed meta (Alva timers, Legion 4/5-ways, delirium) and then turned back and said "We don't want that". So it wouldn't surprise me if in 2-3 leagues due to players numbers/revenue/stockholder pressure they change it again.(Though I doubt it, but there is a possibility).

Honestly, I hope and pray GGG actually takes in the community feedback from this league, not just from the subreddit but whatever internal metrics they use and not just the "we will keep it in mind in the future leagues" and continue to apologize for implementing more things that the playerbase flagged as problematic (like splinters lol). I am still hopeful for PoE2 (I might be dumb to be) I think these few leagues might be the "rough patch" where GGG decides to reduce damage by 40-60% while we still don't have all gems at 6-link and other changes that PoE 2 will get. The question is, how long is this phase gonna last?

Make the Enkindling/Instilling orb effects available at the crafting bench, Menagerie, or vendors

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 01:22 AM PDT

I assume that the flask effect orbs are GGG's solution to flask nerfs but they are hard to accumulate unless you farm them or get really lucky: my guess would be that it takes 15-20 to get the desired effect per flask. So for 3 or 4 utility flasks you'd need ~80-100 of them to get your flasks set up exactly the way you want- at least that has been my experience.

Instead of dropping, or in addition to drops at current rates, maybe they could be on the crafting bench, in the menagerie, or sold by Weylam for ~3 glassblower's baubles each. What do you think?

PS- I am actually enjoying the league- this is not a complaint

Remember when GGG embraced crazy and insane mechanics in their own video spotlights? That was a fun time and a fun game

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 01:08 PM PDT

It's been over four years since the AoE scaling rework and the design space still hasn't been used.

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 08:31 AM PDT

holy shit how has it been four years

A couple items like Carcass Jack got compensatory buffs and some skills got base radius, but there was never an across-the-board buff to individual sources to accompany stacked sources being less effective. PotCG is still sitting at 1% per 20 intelligence, increased AoE gems are a drop in the bucket, influenced affixes are maybe one point of radius max, et cetera.

I would be a lot more confident in the fate of a nerfed PoE if GGG's track record showed that systemic nerfs consistently paved the way for systemic improvements, but I'm not seeing it. AoE isn't the only mechanic to get hit (remember when you could use Block, and I don't mean the Glancing Blows kind, on classes other than Gladiator?), but it's still striking to me that the best way to deal area of effect damage right now is almost always projectiles because AoE scaling still hasn't been fixed.

Why are orbs of annulment so rare?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 09:23 AM PDT

This might be a dumb question, but why are orbs of annulment so rare compared to chaos or vaal orbs? If GGG wants people to craft more items, why are orbs of annulment locked behind harbingers? Would it be overpowered for really smart crafters? I would love to randomly throw an orb of annulment on some rares to try and fix them to be usable.

A Casual Standard Players thoughts on 3.15 patch

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:55 AM PDT

I know standard isnt what everyone plays and this post isnt for everyone but I feel my opinion is just as valid as a league players. I have been playing this game since Talisman and it's the only video game I play. If a league looks good I'll run a character to 80ish and call it a day. Due to my IRL obligations I enjoy standard because I can continue to improve a character without feeling like I lost my progress. Regardless of league nerfs I was able to work around and build on my chars with each new update.

Mind you I'm not a rich standard player, this is not someone with mirrors stacked up complaining. I'm just a normal player who likes to craft his own gear and has been working towards my goals.

I have 2 characters I've been working on for years. A Blast Rain Ranger and a Flicker Strike Fire conv Raider. I've worked to save and be able to buy used mirrored weapons for each char (again I've played for years) My gear isnt perfect but it should he more than adequate.

Today I played about 8 hours trying to figure If I could save each build. I couldnt even out dps shapers regen. Ik I play niche builds but god damn what a kick in the dick to my years of progression. Each build lost around 70% dps. That's including the now legacy flaks.

My wife watched me fooling around on POB and said wow your game looks really boring. I'm genuinely sad about this game. It's like spending years of free time working towards something just to have GGG cut that shit in half and say start over.

TLDR: Non rich standard players are suffering too

Ignite = Arctic armour prevents ignites

Shock = Arcane clock prevents shock

Freeze = Molten shell grants immunity to chill and freeze

Bleed = Steel skin reduces bleed duration or grants immunity

How would you reform the Acting? (player survey)

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:24 AM PDT

Before you vote read this please.

(Edit: Please upvote the post too if u voted to more ppl see it.)

Before you vote "yeah just skip that shit, i hate it" think about what would make the game better, because skipping the whole act at league start would be a problem. (leveling, gear, gems, bandits, trial, etc).

Keep in mind that GGG probably dont let us skip acts (or i think this is the reason) because they want u to quit the game and dont test out all the builds in one league cuz they want u to come back next league and dont be bored.

Tell us what you think would be the solution?

After your vote please write down what you voted for and why.

Finally 40challenges and some feelings about this league

To be honest, I didn't like this league just because of the balance. The environment right now is not friendly and I don't see any "Diversity". Not a lot of people can play many hours in a day and GGG just did some poor changes in this league. If you want people to play more different builds, then you shouldn't nerf the support gems since it is a "global" change and it only increases the difficulties to do all the end-game contents, as a result, the people just play the "OP" builds.
