What if the PoE streamer were Ascendancies?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 07:06 AM PDT

    Hey,

after Twitchcon and going through all the pictures, I had a little fun and matched some people's poses to the Ascendancy images and photoshopped a few, here you go:

    https://imgur.com/a/R5uI3mr

I tried to include as many people as I could, but it's a tough task to find proper poses that match due to the poses of the Ascendancies having more dynamic poses than those you find in pictures (unless you're ziz).

EDIT: just noticed I botched the title, nice.
EDIT 2: Added Asuzara as the necromancer
EDIT 3: Added PressStartToPaws as occultist

Many systems in the game is actually good for PoE. It makes each map a unique experience.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 08:04 AM PDT

I do not want to preface this with "Unpopular Opinion" since if you look at the percentages of the votes of the posts about "Too many systems are bad for the game" you can see that many actually like this concept.

Back to the topic, I really like the idea of introducing many systems in the game. It makes each map a unique one, sometimes you find a sulphite, other times you find a temple or breach or any other league mechanics. Look at Diablo 3 for example, one of the most hated things about it is that there is no content in the game (it is either bounties or rifts), I do not want PoE to follow that and become either maps or delves.

However, I am with you that they should allow players to have higher chance to face the content they like (scarabs for example).

2 things I really want to see in the next patch.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 05:36 AM PDT

    1.) Shared sulphite.

I dont see a reason this isnt already implemented in the game, basically you can do this workaround, run map with zoomer, log in on diver, loot sulphite.
We use different characters for different purpose already. Just let us decide how we want to play the game.

    2.) Multiple atlas pages.

Give us the option to run different strategies on different pages, the drawback would be, that you have to complete the pages to the state you want to run it, so there is a time/cost investment.
At the moment if I want to run a t16/tX shaped strategy, I cant do uber elder without fucking over my atlas.
Just give us the freedom to run a shaped strat 1 hour and hunt elder/uber elder the next hour.

Patch [3.6] Made It Impossible For Me to Kill Uber Elder

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 07:45 AM PDT

    Hi,

this is going to be a somewhat longer post, but bear with me.

First, let me explain what my issue is.

Whenever I enter the Uber Elder portal, I get this very strange lag. I am playing a Cast On ignite build -- which are known to cause lag -- but this is not that kind of lag. This is not network latency, but I'd guess hardware related latency.

Because what actually happens is that my mouse suddenly starts dragging very heavily and becomes rather unresponsive -- I could best compare this to drastically reducing the mouse cursor speed in the options. This means that the mouse becomes really slow and sluggish, it feels like pulling a weight (you gamers know what I mean). I tried to make a short video that you can watch here (a crash happened at the end as well), though it's very hard to see when it's happening. In this video, you can see some mouse janking. This is me rapidly pulling the mouse. During those sections, where you can see the janking, there is in some cases a section where the mouse is barely moving and then starts janking (this is what I'm talking about! I'm in fact pulling the mouse like crazy but it doesn't move!).

Before you go on and tell me it's a hardware issue:

    • I checked my hardware. It's fine.

    • GPU/CPU are getting enough cooling -- I even ramp it up just for this fight.

    • Drivers are up-to-date.

    • I have enough RAM -- I even close certain programs despite having enough memory, just to make sure.

    • No malware on this computer.

    • EDIT: AND YES! The game runs on SSD!

    • EDIT 2: I even replaced my mouse because I thought it was the problem. Turns out my other mouse was fine and I wasted money!

This issue is unique to Uber Elder and was not there prior to 3.6.

Before you go on and tell me that the build is the problem: I have done deathless Shaper + Guardians, red Elder + Guardians, Aul, Cortex, Vaal Temple and so on. I do play a Cast On Ignite build as I previously mentioned, and I do lack some damage upgrades, but all of this doesn't matter -- even in Delve with like 20 frames per second sometimes, I never got this specific mouse lag.

This issue is so unique that it doesn't occur in any other games or any other sections of this game -- only during the Uber Elder fight. And fact is, I have been farming Uber Elder in the leagues before Synthesis. It's simply impossible for me to do it this league. It doesn't matter what build I switch to, what settings I change, the issue persists.

I have tried different and specific daytimes like playing late at night/early morning, different builds, waited days before trying again and so on. None of it helps.

Yes, I was actually so persistent that I continued to try and do it with this massive handicap -- until the last set today. It feels like playing with someone hanging from your arm, trying to pull it down.

If you got a similar issue or have had this previously, please be kind enough to share what info you have or maybe you can even help me resolve this. I'm far beyond frustrated and actually need a break.

    Thanks for reading.

Armor feels so weak for some time now

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 04:35 AM PDT

Just like the title says. Except for THICC Juggs there are no armor based characters in PoE. Taking a look at the top builds almost all of them use Acrobatics or Phase Acro. The overall pattern looks like this:

    • Acro + Phase Acro
    • MoM
    • a million ES
    • block (rarer now)

There must be a way to make armor more viable, its so hard to stack it because you need to get HP or ES at the same time in high amounts. Also, even with 90% phys red while mapping you still don't that "tanky" feel, you need high regen to compensate. Also, there are so many ways of getting different phys reduction through endurance charges and what not that armor stackingis not that much needed to get to the cap.

    My suggestions:

    • Improve the armor values on each item (implicits)
    • better armour nodes
    • increase phys red cap to 95% but make it armor related (you can only get that extra 5% by having a lot of armor)
    • link armor to regen, perhaps create a mod with reflect damage equal to #% of your armor
    • link armor to max hp (gain HP from a percentage of armor)

Why I don't want Synthesis to go Core

    Posted: 17 Apr 2019 06:17 PM PDT

Don't get me wrong, I'm usually a GGG shill and I actually enjoy the Synthesis content itself.

Having said that, I don't personally want Synthesis to go core. To be more specific, I don't want Synthesis crafting to go core, at least not in it's current state. Let's ignore the fact that it's a vast amount of power creep to the top end of crafting, power which is completely and utterly unnecessary for the current difficulty level of the game. Power is fun, and fun is good when it's a chase at the top end.

My issue with Synthesis crafting is the absolutely painful gathering and sorting system it has. In the base game, you can pick up a rare and know intuitively what is good or not if you've played the game for a while. Synthesis' system of often connecting bad base fractured mods to good implicit mods is immensely unintuitive - my eyes look at "light radius" on an item and have been trained for years to disregard the item immediately as trash, but on a fractured item this is a good mod. There is nothing to tell me that this is a good mod, that it's valuable or at all desirable. I have to look at a third party site for every single T1 fractured mod on my items to figure out whether they are good or not, and it honestly makes the Synthesis crafting so painful to interact with when I have to spend sometimes hours interacting with a website to figure out what items are valuable.

To the people that argue that you can just learn what fractured mods are valuable - I ask you, do you honestly want to learn another mod system connected to some 10,000 mods on items that already exist? At what point do we have too much complexity, and too much information that we know and need to memorise? Can I memorise another set of item modifiers that are valuable? Can I make a spreadsheet with all valuable mods for me to cross-check against? Sure I can, but is that enjoyable in a video game? Absolutely not.

And since this subreddit has a habit of only complaining and offering no solutions, I offer some solutions. Bear in mind I don't come from a background of game design nor programming, so these might not be elegant solutions for GGG to craft, these are only qualitative solutions I can think of.

Make fractured items drop ID-ed and make them Filterable, so we can set up filters to show us only good/valuable/mods we want on fractured items. This makes the gathering system a lot more streamlined, since we have to figure out what mods we want once, rather than having to do it every time we look at a fractured item.

Give us an in-game system that tells us what the mods do. Having the Synthesising system be an adventure is good and fun in theory, but absolutely frustrating in practice. Rather than having to look at a third-party site for information, give us a system where we can put a fractured item in a "bench" and have it tell us what implicit mods it can roll. At least this way, it's much faster to identify which items are actually valuable.

Those are my two cents on the current Synthesis crafting system. Do I think it's a fun alternative to Shaper/Elder rares? Absolutely. But in it's current state, Synthesis crafting can only be of detriment to the core game if implemented as is, and I really hope GGG takes a while to keep it in the background and work on the system rather than put it in the core game right away - if they do at all.

Jun encounters could give us a tradable fragment type of item (containing investigation update) that we use later on whatever map we want.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2019 11:56 AM PDT

Everybody is happy seeing Nico on maps even though his "mission" requires total 3 mouse clicks. It would be even better if sulphite was tradable, but at least we can buy and sell scarabs. The point is, we can delve as much as we want if we are prepared to invest some currency. It would be great if we could do that also with betrayal content. And people that dislike it, or their builds are too squishy, could just sell those items for some nice profit.
