Posted: 03 May 2019 03:10 AM PDT It was the only reason I stick to a single character in Synthesis. And I hate her by now... (◡‿◡✿) https://i.imgur.com/5Zy8TMw.png It's not as much about Mastermind cycle but about connections (trust and then rivalry) between Syndicate members. Connections are most important thing that take ages to setup. And even then it's 2 months into the League, Safehouse grind is done long time ago and there are still plenty of green lines on my Syndicate board. shrugs [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 May 2019 10:13 AM PDT Take a moment and look at all the most popular complaints from this community. How many of them are about making one or more of the systems more efficient and/or more accessible? When was the last time the majority of the community argued for making something less efficient or accessible to promote longevity? One of the biggest misconceptions held by the average person is the notion that if they could simply spam or more easily access the most fun/rewarding parts of a game then it would make that game better, but the reality is almost always that the lack of scarcity devalues the content and the repetition strips away the anticipation, excitement, and fun. The average person's opinion of game design is from a self-serving perspective and not of the integrity of the game experience or what will maintain longevity. The core of a great game is that it makes players adapt to succeed while the recipe for killing once great games/brands (WoW/Diablo) is adapting the game to the player's preference. There needs to be pinnacle content that is both challenging and time consuming to access. There needs to be systems that take time to work through so that there is value for having worked through them. There needs to be opportunity cost associated with trade to set a floor and protect lower bound item values from inflation. Part of generating fun and sense of worth is having the player overcome frustration. These aspects create the sense of worth within game play that keeps people motivated. It doesn't mean there can't be improvements or that player sentiment is wrong, but GGG has gotten this far because their goal is to maintain the value and worth of content within the game rather than just appeal to the community's complaints over frustrations. tl;dr - If reddit had its way then PoE would be a dumbster fire in no time. GGG's stance on improving trading seems flawed Posted: 02 May 2019 06:39 PM PDT I feel like they are not considering just how much people interacting with it hate the current system. They seem to think they're at a point where "it's working but not great" and if they were to make it easier it would completely ruin the whole game. And i get it, once it becomes so easily accessible to obtain an item via trading it might hurt the game. But what i feel they are not considering is that the current state is so obnoxious that people right up quit the league after a few days because it's such a hassle to trade for maps, change currency, get any form of gear. I honestly feel without a doubt that an auction house would be good for this game, this is not diablo 3, there is so much more to do, and bis level gear is pretty much un-obtainable which means the market will be much more alive and active. and if that's not something GGG wants then they should at least try out a currency house. Just so salty every league the thing that burns me out the most isnt the game, but the trading and we're seeing no improvements being made in order to even attempt to fix it and now we hear nothing is being made. I just wish they would spend some resources trying stuff out, even if just for a monthly end league or something to see how people feel about it. Edit: Just adding -- And i usually dont spend that much time trading, you spam a couple of people and then you get invited. The problem is that this occur every single time you need something. lets say you're running lab for some easy cash and gamble and want some twice enchanteds > Tab down, search for an example twice enchanted, message 20 people before first response pops up, suddenly 3 people invite you as you press accept and you no longer see which people invited you other than one of them. Finnish trade, tab down, notice if you keep going down you're paying 2c more than market value and 2 people were willing to sell them cheaper, refresh, send 15 before you get a new response.. well you see where im going. by this time i basically lost 1 twice enchanted because i could've run a lab before i managed to get my hands on a few. Now next time do i even bother buying twice enchanteds? prob not, and the same logic i will apply for a lot of these buys when it comes to tedious trading. suddenly i hate the system so much i dont even want to trade. Another problem is that im just as horrible as the next guy when it comes to trading, i rarely answer, i just hate trading stuff, yet im forced to if i want to play the game. I think a big problem with trading is seeing all the people suddenly caring about 1c-2c or even 5c items when im rich. i want to sell it, but right now im in a map, i have 40ex, i dont wanna spend time selling a map worth 4c. maybe tomorrow.. or the day after that etc. Because one day ill want those 4c, but i dont wanna put everything of the market because i would be too lazy to find out it's value again. So im stuck having to get messages every 10 min for something im too lazy to sell, and even if you sell one low value item there's another one. Do i mute? no, i've got big ticket items for sale which i'd want to sell. Is this my fault? Yes and no, but everyone seems to do the same apart from russians for some reason. Point being, trading sucks in its current form, maybe some have different personalities and can accept it, but from how hot this topic is i would say its not very accepted. -- [link] [comments]
Let's revisit the Trade Manifesto shall we? Posted: 02 May 2019 09:00 PM PDT GGG could do a limited auction house for consumable items and it would be entirely consistent with their trade manifesto. Limit to consumables, limit the number of trades per hour, have remove only tabs for traded items that are delivered after a short delay, etc. Would there be some side effects to this if people could more easily buy and sell essences, cards, etc.? Sure. Then the economy should adjust accordingly or they could make small adjustments to drop rates. But let's look at the trade manifesto and see how well it's aged in 18 months ( https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2025870 ):
Uh. No. They don't. Not because of easy trading. You know why people trade so few times to upgrade their build? Because upgrading their build is a pain in the ass. You upgrade your helm, now your resists are off and you've gotta change 2-3 other pieces. That's why people upgrade everything at the same time. Then when they are falling behind, they do it again. Also, trading for gear is NOT the problem. When I trade for gear, I'm trading with someone who actually took the time to identify it and then put it up for sale. Those players usually respond.
Getting items from monsters?! Lololol. This is such bullshit. The odds of getting an upgrade from a monster are 1 in a million with all the power creep items they've added. And even if you get an upgrade, it still requires you to go and trade to adjust all your other gear to use it!
Really GGG? Then put your money where your mouth is. Increase the level cap of level 20 and 21 gems to character level 90. Because that is how long it takes to actually get gems to that much experience. Instead you can just buy your level 21 skill gem at character level 72 and skip 20 levels of damage/progression!
Fine. Add an AH for consumables and decrease drop rates slightly.
This is just idiotic. How exactly? They say most players don't even trade. If that's the case, how would this make things worse for them? Also, if there was an AH it would make it much EASIER for players to engage with the AH and close the gap, not widen it. Having an AH for consumables that you don't need to interact with others and you can get your item instantly would make trading much less daunting for players that want to trade but do not.
Not if you take steps to limit trades per hour, and place short delays before sending items to remove only tabs. Bots are already rampant.
Lol. Give me a break. You aren't doing shit against botting. You know why? Because bots are the only thing keeping trade leagues alive right now. EDIT: wanted to respond to a couple things. 1) "this post was needlessly negative, GGG bashing," etc: I agree. I should have been less fired up and condescending. PoE is my favorite game of all time because of how good GGG has been over the years and how good their community communication has been. It's why I dump 100-200 dollars a year to support it. We can all do better, and I'm always willing to learn from mistakes. I don't WANT to quit or stop giving them my support. I want to keep playing and just make the game a better experience. I've been playing more and more SSF, but I do miss the trade leagues too. A consumables AH with instant buyout would reduce 99% of my trade frustrations. And while I'm not naive enough to think it would have zero effect on the economy or gear progression, I don't think it would be negative. I also think making it easier to get what you need to craft items would make that more accessible to people too. 2) with that said, I felt the one sentence on trading, and the subsequent comment did not do justice to the problems players face with trade, nor do I think they've considered a "middle ground" like a consumables AH. 3) this post could have had more focus. I'm advocating for a consumables market and wanted to show how that would fit with their trade vision. But the reason I went back to the manifesto is because they just said in the Q&A that they stand by all of it. Some of the concerns they raise about an AH contemplate an AH that includes gear. It would be nice to have a manifesto regarding a consumables AH and see if they still stand by their postion. [link] [comments]
Currency trading timelapse from an (ex)currency-trader point of view. Posted: 03 May 2019 04:01 AM PDT I started playing back in 2013, and jumped into the pool of currency trading when essence league appeared. I kept trading until Harbinger, made several mirrors per league just by mapping and doing big trades with a profit of like 1-2c per 2xx currency traded. Mostly traded with:
Had like 5000 stacks of each, and the rest I would either use to recolor-6L gear or trade it to chaos-exalts to upgrade my gear. I could do like 1 trade per map, 2 was pretty rare, but I had fun, made profit, met a lot of people, made friends that I've played with until now, helped them craft-recolor-6L-6S (back then when there were the old master benchs) for free, but stopped doing it at Harbinger. What changed then? The trade manifesto happened. It hit 1 month before harbinger ended. The amount of trading bots increased tenfold when the next league started (abyss). There was a small banwave on week1 of the league, but they came back pretty quickly. The previous fact made the currency trading barely bearable, even with tools as mercury or others, they are online 24/7 and make their profit by setting a ridiculous (even non-existent sometimes) margin, to hoard currency and inflate the market. That rode me (and several other players that used to trade currency) out of the way. Bestiary didn't have a big impact since that league was pretty much hated by the community (in a fashion similar to Synthesis), but feel free to search messages here in reddit about the currency trading aspect in that league. The alch bug back then, made it even worse. Leaving that aside, the low affluence of players and the rampaging spread of trade bots killed the remaining non-automated currency traders. But why would bots amass that big ammounts of currency? Not just to inflate the price of the top-tier currencies, but to force a big chunk of players to purchase exalts/mirrors at their webs, that is, RMT. Finally, the motherload of bots. Incursion league. Remember the inflation in that league until the big banwave? The humongous amount of trading bots has been maintained constant until now. This can be looked upon here, I'll post an image too https://i.imgur.com/CJuLj5k.png The bot's didn't ease the trading, they destroyed it. And with it, one of the funniest aspects of the game. An action house (at least a currency version) would not only not hurt the trading, but would drive the fuck out of bots from our beloved game, and with it, a big part of the RMT. edit: Since people focus on "but AH makes bots easier to manipulate the market", I'll clarify the theme of the thread: Bots hurted the players that traded, and people barely trade several currencies anymore. It's on GGG's hand to ban the bots, not to balance the trading around their existence. [link] [comments]
The player agency issue and how GGG doesn't answer it. Posted: 03 May 2019 11:18 AM PDT When most players say "I want to ignore some content" they don't mean "I will never ever do it in my life", they mean "I don't want to do it right now but eventually, I'd like to do it later" and they say that because right now they want to do some other content. If I had agency on what content I would meet here's how I would personally use it :
I'd be running Uber lab at some point to get enchants and if Bestiary hadn't been lobotomized, I'd eventually do it at some point too to target farm the result of a recipe (e.g. a 6 link astral plate). Nobody wants to do everything at the same time; it's exhausting and not fun. Moving toward my current goal is fun, everything else is an annoyance for the time being. On the other hand, the encounters by themselves can be fun regardless of what they provide ; I might want to encounter beasts just for the sake of it. What matters is that what I choose to do is what is fun not what I'm forced to do. Someone else will choose to do something else because we don't share the same taste and it's perfectly fine. If we have fun, we play the game more. Currently (beside beasts and intervention) I can ignore a mechanic by "walk[ing] around the object that triggers it", sure. But then I'm not sustaining maps. Since I need to sustain maps to experience endgame content, I cannot ignore said mechanic. I don't have the choice. And as GGG said, I feel bad because I'm missing on something. I'd rather have it not spawn in the first place so that I wouldn't have to ignore it. "Because people tend not to play content that doesn't have map drops, we picked the option where league content drops maps" and then nerfed map drops in the atlas so that the players have to do said content to sustain even if they don't find it fun. I guess the situation is fine. Just buy scarabs. People are fed up with the current way the game is and their answer is "we made this choice because we cannot give players the incentive to do content besides feeding them maps, it turned into a bigger issue, you may not like the result but we'll stand by it because we don't know how we could do otherwise". It baffles me since there are plenty of solutions. I'll give two as an example :
I don't find any reason to keep the game in its current state and not work on a solution. Scarabs aren't a solution. They won't solve the force-feeding that we suffer. If you know any, please tell me. N.B. Regarding Bestiary (unrelated to the main issue): They removed the importance of yellow beasts and most of the recipes red beasts being the only thing that matters. I would have done the opposite. All recipes being a combination of three or four specific yellow beasts, red beasts being only jokers that can fit two categories (since they have two beasts affixes) Edit: Someone on the forum rightfully said that the invite/expulsion of masters in my solution would bring two issues. It's annoying if you want to switch to another character that focus on another mechanic. It's annoying when you want to buy decorations. Masters would all be in your hideout and you would select which master you wanna encounter or not by talking to them on a character basis. This would fix both issues. Posted: 02 May 2019 05:49 PM PDT Or at the very least a serious rework. There are a million ways they could be done better but in their current state they're clunky and shit. Hell, just giving them the pathing AI of elemental explosion would be a massive improvement.

Chieftain deserve better endurance charge generation than the worse on kill he has now Posted: 03 May 2019 02:48 AM PDT I always wondered, why is it not like "10% chance to gain an endurance charge when you ignite an enemy" Or at least rare/unique enemy and on kill, as it has been solved in simillar situations. Its not like chieftain is very popular or crazy strong, I think he deserve this QoL. Its not cool having a quite noticeable buff to endurance charges with no way to generate them on bosses [link] [comments]

Make Masters available as Zana mods Posted: 03 May 2019 11:21 AM PDT Taken from the Q&A Part 1; I strongly disagree on that^ I believe many people want to do delve, temples or whatever as they want to do, and not only maps and maps and hoping to get the master you want inside a map. My solution/suggestion to this would be by adding every single Master to the Zana mods list along with all the regular ones, beyond, habringer etc. At least i think all the content will be much more accessible without hoping for the RNG. What do you guys think about this? [link] [comments]
Unique Loot from 500 Tul Breachstones / Statistics Posted: 03 May 2019 07:43 AM PDT Since i saw that the Tul breachstone prices were really low and the amulet was still at 3 ex (SSC) i decided to run a few breachstones to see what the drop chances are for the amulet, to be able to tell if farming them will be worth it in future leagues and to see how much money they bring atm. Screenshot of all the unique loot(Tell me if thats the best solution for phone users please) Now lets look at the statistics:
30 amulets for 3 ex (ex was at 165c at the time) is 14.850 chaos. I paid 6724 for stones so i made 8126 Chaos profit. The more interesting part is how much money that is per hour, one run took me roughly 3:30 so i was able to run ~17 stones per hour. Each run made 16,25 chaos on average so i got 276 chaos per hour. Which is pretty solid for a map that can be done by nearly every build in the same time except for the boss kill maybe. Also i did not count the small currency into this statistics, but to give you an idea i got ~800 T3-T4 maps and i would guess something arround 2-3c per run in small currency. Tldr: Its worth to farm them at the moment if you struggle with making money and you should always keep an eye out to see if they are worth it in future leagues (Keep in mind you should only do this if you have the money to do a lot of them, a small amount could actually lose you money if you are unlucky). Posted: 03 May 2019 07:55 AM PDT From the QA
The gamepedia wiki is a great resource, but gamepedia has lots of ads (plenty of posts about currency trading sites in these ads) and is not friendly to the users and content creators. They are a business and treat the knowledge as the means to get page views. Would this be a good time to develop an official wiki or find a better host? Edit: I understand GGG has made previous statements about this requires resources and people to accomplish. The way this game is growing and is relying upon a wiki to educate and inform about previous league mechanics and current mechanics makes a wiki a mandatory part of the game. Is it time to acknowledge that the game has grown to a point where it is needed to spend some resources on this type of feature? [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 May 2019 09:39 AM PDT Disclaimer: This might be common knowledge, but when i googled "ahk steamplay" or "poe ahk linux proton" i couldn't find anything relevant. English is not my first language, so I'd appreciate, if you point out my mistakes, so i can edit the guide to make it is less painful to read. I don't have a lot desktop Linux knowledge, so i might use some inappropriate language to call UI elements or some other Linux specific stuff. I'm running Manjaro 18.0.4 XFCE Editon. You might run into issues, if you use different distro, desktop environment or even window manager. This guide assumes that you already have Path of Exile installed through SteamPlay aka proton.
If any of you guys know any ahk script with chat scanner that has Mercury Trade functionality, let me know. I know there is POE-Trades-Companion but it's clunky and isn't as robust as Mercury Trade. [link] [comments]
