State of nerfed spells in 3.7?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 01:53 AM PDT

So Legion has been out for a while and I was wondering how some of the nerfed spells are performing in 3.7? Winter Orb, Soulrend, Storm Brand etc?

I'm looking to try out some spell action after a melee frenzy. Which spells are really good right now?

Need help with finding a build (Budget 15ex)

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 08:52 PM PDT

I'm looking for a build that can clear and move fast so that I can clear entire moniliths and also be able to eventually push shaper. I have about 15exalted to get started and want a build that I can expand on. I think anything but cyclone would be nice. Thanks!

Figuring out how to gear my ED/Contagion Character

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 11:47 PM PDT

I'm working on an ED/Contagion character, but the build guide I'm looking at is a bit thin on priorities for gearing. I'm at Tier 11-12 maps, and have ~7 ex, and am just trying to figure out what upgrades to get and what upgrade path to prioritize. I've sorta been playing and not really bothering researching or upgrading gear, but it's finally time to look at it, and I'm finding myself a bit lost on what's worth what.

Here are my thoughts; but I'd appreciate some double checking:

    Primary:

Ilevel 78 Opal Wand,, bless to 42% spell damage, alt+divine to 38% Non-Ailment Chaos Damage over Time, imprint, regal, annul, then craft:

Prefix: Chaos damage 46-50%/Increased Skill Effect Duration...Or is 55-65% spell damage better? Or 45-55% chaos damage for budget option?

Prefix: 21-30% increased damage over time

    Suffix: Multimod

Suffix: 11-13% Cast speed, arcane surge on kill

    Suffix: 13-16% increased chaos damage

I know a bow is probably better, but my twitch skills are awful and I die a lot so I generally prefer to go 1 hander + shield for defenses.

    Shields:

In my shield, I see there are possible mods like Elder increased area of effect, shaper +1% max resists. Is that worth worrying about, or is it better to just prioritize Spell Damage, Life, and Resists in a search that looks like this? https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Legion/k5a8WKC5

I notice Zeel's Amplifier being pretty popular. Is the increased area of effect worth that much?

    Body Armor:

I have a pretty good rolled The Perfect Form that I'm trying to 6 link.

    Helmet:

Delve crafting a Hubris Circlet with Aberrant (-9% Enemy Chaos Resistance) and Dense (for ES mods) then craft life on it? Is it worth including Bound (for -4%-5% mana reserved) or Faceted for +1 Intelligence Gems?

What's a good Labyrinth Enchantment for ED/Contagion? Is Essence Drain Damage or Duration better? Or Contagion area of effect?

    Boots:

Atziri's Steps are popular, but I'm thinking about using the slot to fill resists, plus Temple boots still offer 10-11% dodge/spell dodge. I don't have endurance charges on this character yet, and I was wondering about endurance charges on kill via the Elder Boot mod? Are there better ways to generate endurance charges? Or should I not bother. How good are endurance charges for survivability?

Basically, I'm debating these two searches; https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Legion/pQ3m7Jt0 Or endurance charge on kill; https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/search/Legion/4bRkogu9

    Gloves:

Ilevel Fingerless Silk Gloves with Elder 13-16% non-ailment chaos damage over-time then multi-modded for life/resists? Or don't bother with Fingerless Silk Gloves due to the price premium?

    Belt:

Stygian Vise with fossil crafted chaos damage, life, resists?

    Amulet:

Temp Chains Solstice Vigil for Free Temp chains + blasphemy versus a rare; I see Elder once again offers non-ailment chaos damage over time. Also, would crafting minimum endurance charges maybe solve the endurance charge problem?

    Rings:

A shaper ring with spell damage as a suffix, then an open prefix to craft generic damage, then general life and resists?

    Jewels:

Damage over time, area damage, chaos damage, life. I see there is a 3-4% non-ailment chaos damage over time multiplier jewel mod; is that better than area damage/chaos damage?

On Abyssal jewels; I like Onslaught on Kill ; is there anything else special and unique worth looking for? Damage over time while holding a shield?

    Also, what Watcher's Eye do I want? I'm guessing the following three are the best;

+(18-22)% to Non-Ailment Chaos Damage over Time Multiplier while affected by Malevolence

(20-30)% increased Skill Effect Duration while affected by Malevolence

Damaging Ailments you inflict deal Damage (10-15)% faster while affected by Malevolence

Anyways; would love some thoughts on if this is a good gearing path towards the end game! I notice Impresence is popular, not sure why. Same with Eldritch Knowledge; what's it worth, 20-25% chaos damage? That's two damage mods, which isn't really expensive. And what are people using Intuitive Leap for? Not sure I really understand that one.

Also, build related not gear related; I went swift killer instead of prolonged pain. If I went Prolonged Pain instead, how would I generate Frenzy/Power charges? Is that why I see intuitive leap for Overcharged in some builds? What are some other good ways to generate Frenzy/Power charges for tricksters?

Mjolner Cyclone CWC Chiefton - Loving this build and just wanted to share

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 09:10 PM PDT

Hey all, after browsing through some discharge builds I came across something similar to this and it looked fun enough to try. And I can say so far that I am loving it.

Here's a pastebin of my current character: https://pastebin.com/AVMNpe0w

Basic overview is Mjolner with wave of conviction, cyclone with cwc purifying flame. Chiefton gives us all of our phys conversion with a healthy amount of defense and some offense.

It is super tanky with 80% max cold and lightning res, 85% fire. Lots of phys taken as fire, as well as some regular phys damage reduction. The damage is not topping any charts, but it has been good enough for everything I've done so far (up through Shaper), and I don't foresee too much of an issue going forward. Bonus points in that I get to use RF for its damage multi and not to do damage itself.

Most of the items for the build are relatively cheap, so you can put as much money into it as you want for basically just bigger life totals and more regen, and then corruption implicits (fortify on hit weapon). In your helm slot, you can get a lot more damage and survivability with a rare helmet with 'nearby enemies have -9% fire res', 'phys taken as fire', fortify effect, big life, and life regen. I went with devoto's though for the speed.

I know that I still need to optimize my attack speed for Mjolner which will help with damage. That should come from jewels. I also take the instant warcry nodes+enduring cry for charges, which is probably inefficient, but I can't bear to stop to cast it otherwise. I'm interested in other endurance charge generation methods. So if anyone has any ideas for improvement at all for the build, I'm always open.

Edit: The other thing I forgot to mention is that it is great at delving and exploring darkness. Since you have so much regen on gear and consecrated ground, just don't turn on your RF and you can tank darkness to like 50+ stacks, easily.

Looking for feedback: Saboteur + Effigon + Disintegrator

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 02:12 AM PDT

    Hi there,

Currently getting back into POE after a long break... and a disclaimer, I'm a big noob haha.

I really want to make something work with Effigon, so I was just thinking of an initial passive tree build idea revolving Saboteur, Effigon, and a 2-hander melee skill...

Saboteur + Effigon would, in effect grant us a "hits cannot be evaded" mod because

    1. Saboteur allows us to blind nearby enemies (ascendancy skill)
    2. Effigon allows "hits cannot be evaded mod" against blinded enemies

I was building my idea as reflected in my passive tree idea (link below), and would be grateful for build ideas:

    1. What would be a melee skill that would work well with the build?
    2. Since we're using Saboteur as an ascendancy, what other mines/traps could be used? Smoke mine would be an obvious choice I would think?

    Thanks for your patience :)

    Infinite ignite proliferation build ?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 04:13 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm looking for a new build for legion, something like ED/contagion.

I would like to know if it's possible to do that with ignite. So far, as I understand :

    - Ignite/elemental proliferation support only spread once after the first hit.

    - Xoph's Nurture's also is only on hit ? Not sure about this one.

    - No idea how Abberath's Hooves works with ignite, also I don't know how range interact with it.

If you know or understand how these items work, I would love to know !

How is (non-Eternity Shroud) Winter Orb this league?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 09:17 PM PDT

I'm never going to be able to play enough to make good use of Eternity Shroud, but would probably work toward 10 ex budget by the time I'm done playing. How's interaction with Monoliths?

I fired up a level 92 non-crit Elementalist on Standard and seemed fine, albeit likely would need both duration clusters for smooth clearing. I'm thinking to use the 2x Beltimbers with Unleashed Ice Spear to help with the lost in single target.

How could I improve my current character ?

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 02:54 AM PDT

Here is my character : CorpsACorps

Last night I finally killed shaper (Deathless for the first time woohooo !) and dropped a Starforge. I now have 2 choices from what I understand :

First : Respec into sword nodes and go with Starforge.

Second : Sell the starforge and get a Disfavour.

In either case i'll need to 6-link a weapon but I don't realy understand the difference between the two builds.

Other question, I dropped a lucky HH a week ago and was wondering if I needed to get a second belt for boss-clearing or if this one would be okay.

And last, I don't know how to progress further than buying a weapon, what could I do to improve my build ?

Thanks a lot for your help !

Need help with my Wild Strike build

    Posted: 25 Jun 2019 12:26 AM PDT

I thought Wild Strike would be a fun build to clear legion, and right now it feels lackluster. I initially went with a claw build, but the lack of range annoyed me so I went with swords. I feel like I'm carried by Abyssus, and need some tips with my tree. Any help would be appreciated.

Need help with defences (ED low life)

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 11:36 PM PDT

I've played ED/Contagion as my league starter and went through tons of iterations with different defences etc.

I recently transitioned into low life, and I love how much damage I do, but losing acro and phase acro I feel incredibly squishy and I've died way more times than I did before.

I've tried dropping arcane surge with contagion in favor of steelskin CWDT but it still doesn't seem like enough. Maybe I need more ES? I'm sitting at about 6.1k right now.

Here's my profile, I can post a PoB tomorrow too if you'd like to see more.

Recommend a fast legion-clearing build for burnt out cyclone player?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 11:25 PM PDT

As of endgame in poe, I am relatively new, in this league i got to the red maps at lvl 88 for more or less first time and feeling really burnt out rn with my "meta" 2h RT vaal pact cyclone slayer. Maybe am doing it wrong but i can't really fastclear legion encounters for buckets of currency, only getting rewards from one side of I'm lucky enough. With not much time to play the game at my hands, i feel like I'm missing out the most of it. Mapping in general feels ok though I'm a little bit fragile at ~4.7k hp, though getting uber lab done would probably help with that.

So, I'm looking for the best way to farm currency, namely legion encounters efficiently, with any duelist build, great if it also has lategame bossing potential. Surfed this sub and poebuilds for a while and just can't wrap my head around which one will be effective enough

    ones i was contemplating:

    - going for a lot of tweaking/drastically different cyclone build. rn I'm using https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1894126 , thought about going for 1h crit or something like that

    - frost blades since i used it last league and it was fun. not sure tho how it handles legion generals and rares, and if i could go for it with duelist

    - lacerate - used it at league start pre-cyclone and it didn't feel satisfying, probably bc low level, no gear and no right links

    - scourge arrow, or anything bow related idk, scourge looks kind of boring but people say it's fine for legions so idk

    - spectral shield throw oh boy it sounds fun but has exact issues as frost blades iirc

or levelling entirely new character, I've got some twink gear and currency so it should be fine too

no real budget limitations, I'm not broke nor wealthy but can always save more

I plea for your help reddit!

Help my rain of arrows impale build

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 08:54 PM PDT

    Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/HSuzWMRf

My single target damage is really low but I love the dmg it has for everything else. I designed it to be super fast zoom zoom and farm monoliths in t16's. It does that fine but actually doing guardians or other similar bosses feels pretty bad. Ignore the rigwalds quiver because I was using tornado shot first (terrible idea) and am going to replace it. The empty jewel slot is also a maraketh jewel giving me 5% attack speed, 25% crit, 20% proj dmg, a ton of dex and 5% to blind. I'm thinking since I am using mirage archer I can maybe swap vicious proj out with conc effect which will shotgun more and significantly increase single target. But I'm wondering if there is anything else that stands out to more experienced bow builds (this is my third ever, the other full conversion lightning arrow way back in the day--which is one of my favorite builds ever, and the other being cold scourge arrow which is what I was doing before this. Unfortunately that seemed like the better build but I got bored so I'm trying this now)

    DPS? I don't know how?

    Posted: 24 Jun 2019 07:57 PM PDT

Hi guys. In 2012, I played PoE when it was first released, 1.0. I beat Dominus and then kind of quit the game. But then when Incursion League started, I decided to give PoE a try and messed around a little. Since then I've played Betrayal, Syndicate and now Legion. I've followed a few builds and gotten to end game pretty easily. Every league but Incursion I got to at least low tier red maps, though Betrayal I was pretty squishy and died a lot. This league I followed a build for Frostblade Assassin and managed a t10 elder kill. However, I didn't like how the build felt squishy and decided to try and build my own character with more base HP, which is something I wanted to do instead of going for evasion stacking and also stuff like Phase Acrobatics. My problem specifically is that bossing started to become quite hard as I got 1 shot a lot, and Legion/Incursion/Betrayal became quite rippy. It became impossible to progress and in the last week I've leveled only from 89-91. I could easily be level 93 or 94 now if I didn't died though.

Anyways, I wanted to do another ice-based build, since I like freezing/shattering things. I decided on Ice Crash Inquisitor. Ice Crash looks fucking sick as heck. Now, I really have no idea why, but in PoB, I'm not sure how to get this guys DPS anyways close to my Assassin. My assassin PoB guide has 1,000,000 damage on Frost Blades, plus Vaal Double Strike, Plus Vaal Ancestral Warchief. Its an absolutely brutal amount of DPS and I can clear trash mobs on basically any map. The problem is I keep getting 1 shot, especially by Legion mechanics. Bossing also becomes really stressful if I don't kill the boss by the time Vaal Double Strike is over. Actually, my reliance on Vaal Double Strike in general kind of makes me want to reroll in general since it makes doing bosses like Shaper/Elder much harder.

I have a level 88 Inquisitor in PoB now, it has 6.29k life (196% from tree). Overcapped res. 2.9k armor. Great! But my damage is awful. Total DPS is 258314.4 at level 88. And that's WITH concentrated effect, which I don't want to map with, only boss with. Basically, this guy is slightly tankier (about 1k more life and 1k more armor) but 4 levels lower and does 1/4 the damage of my assassin. Its very frustrating.

Is Ice Crash just a trash skill? That's certainly one of my problems with PoE is that I am unable to tell what skills are "good enough" to beat high end content. I know in a game like this not all skills are actually going to be good, but I also know just because something is unpopular doesn't mean its bad. Lots of streamers have created some rather unique looking builds for instance.

Here is the pastebin for my Inquisitor with Ice Crash: https://pastebin.com/JxT2Eq20

Here is the pastebin for the guide-based Assassin. My gear is slightly different (I ended up going for more armor, so not Starkonya's hood), but my passive skill tree is 100% the same: https://pastebin.com/HDhHzr9N

So I guess what I'm asking is, how do I make builds in PoB that can give me 6k life and 1million damage? Especially using Elemental skills or spells.
