The Road to Headhunter (A Detailed Report) - DAY ONE

    Posted: 16 Jul 2019 08:26 AM PDT

    THE RULES:

    • to farm Alleyways for Monoliths, running every map until the monolith has been fully cleared
    • Use Neversink's 'Uber Strict' filter, with slight alterations - No Karui, Vaal, or Empire Splinters
    • Pick up that which is of value and isn't out of the way
    • Tallying all time spent, not only in maps, but outside of maps dumping and inputting new maps
    • Use 'Exilence' to tally growth each day
    • Keep Farming until enough currency has been gained purely through this method to outright purchase a Headhunter
    • Use already existing currency exclusively to roll maps, and nothing else
    • Maps are rolled to rare, no quality, and using chaos orbs to reroll over physical and elemental reflect, no more
    • Use all incubators found (I like the anticipation!)

    DAY ONE:

I started today with 20 Alleyway maps, a mug of coffee, and 2 hours to kill before bed. It took me a while to get into the rhythm of running these maps, and I feel I can improve my efficiency as the days go on. Nevertheless, the details of today are as follows:

    MAPS RUN: 100

TOTAL TIME TAKEN: 1 hour, 58 minutes, 8 seconds

AVERAGE TIME PER MAP: 1 minute, 11 seconds

    TOTAL PROFIT: 897.5 CHAOS

    PROFIT PER HOUR: 455.84 CHAOS

Chaos left until Headhunter Purchasable (according to Poe.Ninja as of 1:06am AEST, 17/07/19):

    26209.6 CHAOS

Estimated number of maps remaining: 2920.23

Estimated time remaining: 57 hours, 30 minutes

    NOTABLE DROPS:

    Exalted orb: 1

    The Saint's Treasure: 3

    Timeless Maraketh Splinters: 27

    Orb of Annulment: 2

    Serrated Fossil: 1

    Temporal Chains gem (level 21, 23q): 1 (estimated 186.79c)

    SUMMARY:

Honestly, the drops felt slow today. Earlier in the league I had run around 500 Alleyways maps and this 100 maps seemed a little lower than average. However, that's how RNG works! 3 Saints treasure seems about average.

One time-lost Incubator was used, and a Berek's grip was dropped.

I feel that I can cut off some time from each map, hopefully making it to a sub 1 minute average, though In alleyways, the Monolith spawns in the first section of the map only around 85-90% of the time, making it take a fair while longer to reach the monolith those 10-15% of times.

Maps were sustained with an excess of 9 maps over the period of 100 maps.

All in all, a solid first day (although short), and am ready for the rest!

    FAQ:

Why don't you just run Glaciers you silly boy?

Honestly, I just like the layout better of Alleyways - more pleasing colour pallet, and the ability to drop The Saint's Treasure divination card. That's pretty much it.

Why don't you just sell off your incubators? It's more consistent income than running them. I saw it on Reddit earlier.

As briefly stated above, I enjoy the anticipation of Incubators, and the idea of a potential nice drop from them that can spike the profits up (I'm all about that gambling, baby)

    What build are you using?

I'm using my self-made Raider QotF Spin Spin Fast Fast build (Cyclone). You can find the Pastebin here:
    https://pastebin.com/5q9C3npk

It just revolves around getting a large Cyclone radius (at the moment, 51) while hitting high movement speed (367%). Damage is more than enough.

Zana Quests, Incursion and Legion Encounter should have separate timer displays

    Posted: 16 Jul 2019 08:56 AM PDT

Right now they all share the same display at centre top of the screen. It's really annoying when you are doing Incursion in the timed Zana mission and only one gets displayed.

    Y'all seen this shit??

    Posted: 16 Jul 2019 01:19 AM PDT

Can Monoliths please have the faction emblems show up as it's opening so people bad at differentiating colours aren't losing out on loot to the timer?

    Posted: 16 Jul 2019 12:06 AM PDT

Fact is I'm just having a hell of a time telling them apart. I'm not colourblind, I'm not old, my eyes are fairly good and healthy. I guess I just can't process the subtle colour differences while playing at a fast pace (which is sort of set by the pressure of having a timer). Obviously this is less of an issue for insta-clear builds like ED/Contagion but that's not how everyone plays the game. I'm lucky if I can get all the loot pinatas from one legion depending on the map let alone the whole thing.

All I'd like is a quick indicator that can't be misinterpreted. Having faction emblems show up on either side of the monolith as it's opening would be awesome. That way if you're looking for a specific set of splinters you know which legion to clear first.

Reddit's unveiling woes and a possible solution

    Posted: 16 Jul 2019 05:06 AM PDT

So I see posts a lot about how people do not enjoy the grind or rng aspects of the unveiling system.

A possible solution would to perhaps somehow incorporate rogue exiles into this system. Certain rogue exiles could be affiliated with some of the syndicate members and when you kill them they have a chance to drop a veiled item or maybe even the odd scarab.

Not only would this make the anarchy zana mod a attractive option but it would also make those rogue exile prophecies exciting again.

Buff the crap out of the rogue exiles first though so that there is at least a little risk for the reward.

It doesn't really fix the rng aspect of it but at least now you can actively farm rogue exiles and get your crafts quicker if that is what you need plus it brings outdated content back into the game.
