    Pre-Announcement Info

    ------Countdown to Announcement------

    Hey all! We're all excited for the new league and the mod team is busy stocking up on a healthy supply of f5 keys right along with you! If you wanted to give your keyboard a quick rest though we've got a bit of info we wanted to get out there before anything gets too hectic.

    1) PoE has a Discord server!

    For anyone who doesn't know, Discord is a text and voice messaging app designed specifically for gaming. It's free, can be used in browser and on mobile. Want to discuss your build ideas? Chat about <new league>'s mechanics? Get notified for POE news the minute it goes out? This is the place for you. It's a great tool to pick up anywhere r/pathofexile leaves off. We've picked up a lot of new subs recently so just making sure no one's missing out on a great resource!

    2) Rule 10 Trial!

    In case anyone missed the previous sticky or the sticky before that we're starting a trial of a new rule, regarding Item Showcases.

    [Potential] Rule 10: Item Showcases must have an explanation from the Original Poster. Explanations should be in the form of a comment in the thread.

    Provide background information whenever you post a video or screenshot. Explain what you want users to look at in a comment. Your comment must be descriptive and explanatory - simply referencing the title is not enough, even if the title is adequately explanatory on its own.

    Images/video of crafted items or the results of game play should explain what you did to create or obtain it. The subreddit is for discussing Path of Exile and its mechanics. While we all enjoy celebrating luck, the sub isn't only a place to show off. Give the sub a reason to be interested!

    Over the last few days we've stuck to simply warning offending posts, but now we're moving to the real deal and will be removing offending posts (that have been up for little bit) citing this rule. Please at least make an attempt at an explanatory comment even if it all seems dreadfully obvious to you, there are plenty of exiles here that may want to know how you made, where you got it, or even simply why it's good!

    We're almost done with a bot that will be doing checks on Item Showcase posts for a comment from OP that will first warn then auto-remove if a comment is still not found, but this is not the case currently.

    3) MS Paint builds

    It's that time again! Last league we tried moving off MS paint builds into the normal info sticky since a) the info sticky usually was sparse for comments anyway and b) MS paint builds were literally the entire frontpage at times in the previous league. We feel that didn't work out too well, so MS paint builds posts are good to go again!

    There is that inevitable 'but' though. If MS paint builds are making up the vast majority of the front page we may cull a few of the older MS paint posts in an effort to keep the reddit flowing. Good chance of it not being needed but just wanted to be transparent here and give a heads up.

    That's all folks. We'll be seeing you on the 3.8 hypetrain! The normal league start info one-stop-shop sticky will be replacing this thread shortly, don't worry!

    From 20 chaos to 0 chaos : Player's reflection & all the methods I used

    I lvl up and get 2 chaos then when finish act 10 go maps. U get more chaos from maps. But then maps get harder on higher lvl (I struggel on map tier 3) by this time I have 20 chaos but need mor dmg.. Then trade 10 chaos for 20 fusing but no 6link only 4link. But still have more chaos I buy more fusing and try agan but now only 3link and no chaos

    I did two articles -- a preview and an interview with Chris Wilson. Obviously, I can't say much until a bit later.

    Problem? It's 2:30 am here. Darn it!

    I'd usually have to make sure that:

    • The article's good to go and will go live at the correct time.
    • The scheduled YouTube vids will go live at the correct time.
    • No dead links because of scheduling problems.
    • I could post/submit the articles here.
    • Since I tend to go a bit in-depth with coverage, I could opt to answer a few questions if need be.

    Ah well, what's up? Everyone waiting for the official announcement?

    PS: While waiting, I'm finishing my Man of Medan review. Already did a couple of playthroughs to get the best ending. I was thinking of doing another playthrough now just to add more notes for the walkthrough guide I'm doing... but you don't play horror games in the middle of the night. That's just silly.

    This isn't a complaint, just an observation - normally there would be a TON more hype when an expansion is announced, Bex would be toying with us about the name of the expansion.

    This expansion there wasn't any talk at all, I'm pretty shocked that's it's actually being announced today to be honest.

    Late last night I decided to buy a lvl 4 empower at 2.8ex, I decided to be nice and just give him 3ex. Thought it was completed and he says 'I've got no chaos' and I say 'nah all good'. Leave, realised he cancelled, go back and he tries to drop a lvl 3 in there. Beware folks!

    Edit: Ended up reporting via [support@grindinggear.com](mailto:support@grindinggear.com) and got a response saying they are now building profiles around players based on reports. They encourage anyone to send through info and evidence to help build these profiles and ban if necessary. I'll post the email instead of this comment if he says I can. So maybe we can stop with the "GGG doesn't care about scammers" vibe a little bit going forward.. especially after recent ban waves.

    Thanks for contacting Support about this issue.

    I've taken a note of the account in question, and will be flagging it to keep an eye on. When players report others for any kind of behaviour, from scamming, to real world trading, to abusing a bug, this goes on their record. If they accumulate an extremely bad reputation then we will look at taking things further or finding other ways to resolve these issues. It frequently occurs that players who have bad reputations are often committing more serious and ban-able offenses.

    These reports are extremely helpful to us in that it helps us to build a profile around players, and helps us towards making decisions about how to deal with these people in future. The more reports we get on a player means that we will have a more detailed case when investigating players, the more flexibility we would have when choosing to remove offending accounts.

    I hope this helps. I would like to encourage you to send reports to us. These do not go ignored or wasted.

    Is it only me or there is almost no pre-hype for the next announcement?

    Usually, there are some red (GGG) posts around this time. Also, for some leagues we would know its colors before the announcement and sometimes some hints about its name.

    For me, it does not seem there is an announcement in less than 12 hours.

    The uniques created in Synthesis were amazing and opened up so many options for players. This was probably the strongest part of Synthesis and was probably the best class of uniques released in a league.

    Just to highlight a few;

    Bottled Faith - Created a consecrated ground with triple aoe that made enemies more vulnerable.

    Herald Rings - Rings that provided unique benefits to heralds. I highlighted Circle of Nostalgia, because having an Agony Crawler on steriods was fun to watch.

    Maloney's Mechanism - Introduced the first socketed quiver, which also had a cast on attack. I used a 3L Scourge Arrow with my TR build that was a nice bump in DPS.

    Garb of the Ephemeral - Ya know... if you wanted to go super sayian.

    I'm sure you guys are working on a way to incorporate Synthesis with core despite it being an overall disliked league, similar to Bestiary. If there could be a way for us to gain access to these uniques before the integration of that, at the very least, I would be very appreciative.
