I made a Crafting Simulator app for Path of Exile

    Posted: 08 Aug 2019 10:04 AM PDT

    Hello everyone!

I have always liked the depth and complexity of crafting in PoE so I decided to reverse engineer most of the crafting mechanics and put it into an Android application. The app allows you to pick any item base (shaper/elder included) and spend normal orbs like chaos, exalt, divine etc. You can also use fossils and essences and finish the item with master crafting and some of the meta crafting methods that come with it.

Here is an example of an item I made in the app

There are still some pieces missing but yesterday I decided to put it on the play store since it has come to a point where I am pretty happy with it and it would be fun to hear what you think. Is this a fun concept that is worth continuing on?

Here is the link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fpet.poe_clicker

    Happy crafting!

Edit: Quite a few of you have asked for iPhone support now so I'll look into it. Keep an eye out!

    Facts about Timeless Jewels

    Posted: 08 Aug 2019 01:54 AM PDT

    Facts about Timeless Jewels

Hello exiles, so let's say instead of divining all the Timeless Jewels and checking their stats, a rich collector decides to simply buy them all.

    https://i.redd.it/vv2pd80tx6f31.png

    1) How many different jewels are theoretically even possible?

We have 5 base types, each with 3 names, each with a certain seed number.

    Brutal Restraint: 3 names * 7501 variations = 22503 Brutal Restraint jewels

    Elegant Hubris: 3 names * 14001 variations = 42003 Elegant Hubris jewels

    Glorious Vanity: 3 names * 7901 variations = 23703 Glorious Vanity jewels

    Lethal Pride: 3 names * 17001 variations = 51003 Lethal Pride jewels

    Militant Faith: 3 names * 8001 variations = 24003 Militant Faith jewels

This results in a total of 163215 Timeless Jewels. (In comparison, Rebuke of the Vaal has way more different variations, with 8624000000000000 = 8.624e+15 variations and even Ventor's Gamble has 45548588736 variations.)

    2) We have 21 different sockets in the skill tree, so 3427515 possible outcomes of all Timeless Jewels.

    3) At an average price of 20 c per jewel, buying all would cost 3264300 c or 18315 exalt or 81 mirror. While this does seem a lot, it still seems possible for the richest players.

    4) Buying all 163215 jewels at a rate of 10 seconds per jewel would take 1632150 seconds, which equals to 19 days nonstop trading.

    5) Our rich collector would also have to use 1134 stash tabs or 284 quad tabs to store them all.

    So .... still sane, exile?

An Addiction Warning - Stay Safe Exiles

    Posted: 08 Aug 2019 12:13 PM PDT

I know this is probably the last thing many of you want to see. However, video game addiction can be a serious issue and in extreme cases can be very destructive to your life. I know because I experienced this myself with Path of Exile.

The purpose of this post is to bring awareness to those that may be suffering from a serious addiction to Path of Exile or another video game. There are no doubt people that play responsibly. The reality is that not everybody does. I never did.

In August of 2012, about 7 years ago, I created my Path of Exile account. At the time, I was 14 years old. I tried the game out with one of my friends after watching a YouTube video made by Kripparian. Very quickly I became obsessed with the game. Path of Exile became the only thing I wanted to do in my life. Throughout the school day I watched the clock tick until it was that glorious hour where I was able to run home and play. I didn't find joy from anything in life but video games. The earliest I legally could, at age 16, I dropped out of high school to "play Path of Exile full time." I kept sinking deeper into the hands of video games as I became more distant with every other aspect of my life. My friends, academic standing, future, education, happiness, social skills, and more, became more and more distant as I racked up more and more hours playing. I would not be surprised if I have surpassed 30,000 hours played.

Mid-way through 2015 I began to notice that I didn't get much satisfaction from playing. Yet I continued to play aggressive amounts of hours. Deep down had I feeling I wanted to quit, but on the surface I thought I was having fun and could play for years longer. I made my first attempt to quit by deleting all of my gear. Some of you may remember a guy deleting a bunch of stuff including an alt-art alpha's howl. After deleting everything, I felt a great deal of relief and was very happy with myself.

Soon I heard about the next league coming out. Being that it is free and that the only friends I now have are those that play Path of Exile, I wasn't away from Path of Exile long. I was pulled back in, and played for a few more years. It took me a while, but eventually I reached the point of selling my computer and working very hard to change my life. I had officially quit Path of Exile for good. There was a lot more that went into leading up to me quitting, but that would take a novel's worth of pages to explain. But I wish I had been able to quit much sooner. I'd be better off.

The purpose of this post isn't to convince people to delete their in-game items, sell their computer, and change their life. What I want is for those that may think they could be suffering from a problematic addiction issue to ask themselves the deep questions: What do you want out of life? Are video games preventing you from achieving what you truly want? Are you actually having fun while you play video games?

I apologize if this type of post is against the rules. Please remove and downvote if it is.

Exiles in the same instance/realm/party could go there to chill, buy a drink, gamble some orbs in a game of poker. What do you think? Too much MMO?

Pretty hyped, as I am a super casual solo self found player and rarely do I level past 70 because endgame is just so daunting but this is the first time I've actually accomplished this really novice feat but I am proud none the less.

I love this game but I'm addicted

    Posted: 08 Aug 2019 02:59 AM PDT

I've only started PoE recently but it's the same old story for me: binge gaming, messing my sleep schedule, and even when I'm not gaming I can't think of anything else besides "I've fucked up my build again how do I fix it".

My usual response would be to go cold turkey (I've dealt with different addictions and that's the easiest way), but damn... This game is awesome. I just love the atmosphere of it, it really feels like a whole world to me. And yes... I'm dumb as hell but I still want to crack it eventually!

Yet it's unhealthy for the other things in my life. Wtf am I supposed to do? Why can't I just game in moderation and not think about it all the time?
