Master mission mechanic rework - 10/10 change Posted: 11 Sep 2019 09:27 AM PDT I just wanted to say that GGG made such a good choice to re-work the master mission mechanic and let us choose when to run them. It feels so much better not to be pressured which maps to run, and to have to run them when they come up. GGG, do not take the wrong lesson from the Scrap Box! Posted: 11 Sep 2019 05:51 AM PDT Please, do not take the wrong lesson from this! We need something to do with our dupes, we have since the inception of this mystery box system. Take it from someone who upgrades the core packs to top tier and has bought a supporter pack each league - we are not running out of things to spend our points on! Being able to salvage somethign from our duplicates will not reduce spending. Points go quick,loot boxes or not. Countless suggestions have been made from your player base: "Make loot boxes unable to roll dupes!" or "Implement a points based system as in common in popular games like Overwatch!" We need something. So if the scrap box is your thing, do it right. Make the Scrap Box FREE and make it require a minimum of two items to pull the slot machine lever. You've already put in the dev work to make it a thing, lets get a consumer friendly solution out there sooner rather than later. If you need a marketing reason to implement the salvage mechanic in this way (you shouldn't a system like this should always have existed) the salvage box is incentive for players to buy more boxes that they normally would have. Knowing there is a garbage bin you can throw your dupes in and have more goodies pop out will reduce perceived risk. A safety net like this will actually likely result in an uptick of lootbox purchases. So please, think it over, now is the time to do this! I love you guys, I love the game you make and since the early days I have shown that by supporting the game monetarily. Now that you have grown beyond your roots as a small indie studio and support is perceived less like the life or death for the game to many players you need to start focusing on value add to your micro/macro transactions. Performance issues need to be addressed Posted: 11 Sep 2019 09:10 AM PDT I apologize since this probably turned into a rant somewhere down there in that wall of text. I'll just put the TL;DR up top immediately. TL;DR: There are performance issues. There aren't any real solutions. It's getting worse over time. GGG has to do something about it on their end. I've put more points into my troubleshooting tree than POE's passive tree. Now then, here's the rest. Playing since 2013. Haven't had game-breaking issues in regards to disconnections, crashes, unexpected errors or weird instability since the CoC/Discharge/EK problems in those days long forgotten. Being honest, my memory has probably conveniently voided most of the trauma. Let's also remember, there were no clientside net code options to choose from then. They instead relied on nerfing skills gems and specific creative builds to accommodate overall game stability for everyone. Not complaining, though, because this allowed people to play the game even with the limited capabilities of their servers at the time. Still, barring those few unforeseen problems, the game ran as smooth as butter for the most part and has for years. Mostly. Fast-forward to 2019 with the recently concluded Legion, and newly added Blight leagues. Despite the numerous patches and hotfixes for buggy skills and unintended interactions (which is expected with any league); despite numerous complaints of problems simply trying to log in initially from character select; despite having the best PC equipment with X GPU, Y Processor, Z SSD; despite attempting to use witchcraft formulas to improve performance that works for some but not others intermittently (delete Minimap folder, delete shader cache, use --noaudio); despite all of that, the game still tanks harder than an untethered anchor on the open sea. I don't post here often, I lurk. But every solution I see is "Get SSD" or "My game runs fine, so it must be something you're doing!" This can't be accurate. I see threads crying for a solution to these 'town crashes' or just general instability all the time since Legion/Blight leagues, and it simply can't be a user hardware issue. Yet, most of these crash-related threads go unnoticed or are filled to capacity with these get-SSD and just-you-not-me "solutions," if they can be called that. All this to ask: When will GGG finally address the problem of performance and instability on their end? When will there be a GGG-led initiative to accurately target, isolate, and address performance issues and optimization in order to remedy these very specific instance crashing/FPS dropping issues? Being frank, I'm fed up with band-aid solutions. Legion was practically unplayable for my group of friends (and apparently many others) who have not had any issue with the game in more than half a decade. Blight seems to be headed in the same direction. It's anyone's guess as to how the problem will evolve going forward, but the pattern indicates it will only get worse. Having gone from 2 crashes a week to over 100 crashes per night is just ridiculous. Every witchcraft solution suggested here on reddit, the official forums, or elsewhere have not solved any of this. I and others have likely combed though hundreds of them with no relief. But GGG remains silent. Responses go out to people saying Venom Gyre is busted, or how summoners' minions are misbehaving. But when it comes to constant crashes that have cropped up over the last few leagues and are getting worse, they are oddly silent. Repetition is key. If we scream loud enough, maybe we'll be heard. Posted: 11 Sep 2019 02:30 AM PDT - Nearby Enemies cannot die - Proximity Shields - Monsters, especially Unique Monsters, leaving the lines and charging through to the pump - Ranged monsters attacking the pump - Towers deselecting when you can upgrade the other ones - Towers overlaying the minimap - Gates spawning right next to the pump so that ranged monsters can attack it immediately - Some of the lines should be completed within the 5 minute time span. If some stupid stuff from above happens, you lose the whole map and dont get a single reward node. - Players should be able to walk through and attack through the Ice cages from the Frost Towers - ... Feel free to add Your additions in short: - Performance issues especially as performance heavy class like Summoner - Just to emphasize this further - Performance is a HUGE problem for a big part of the player base in general - Rewards are too low for the time it takes to complete the encounter - No matter the power of the character, you will not complete the encounter any faster - Visual clutter ( I'd say this issue is many different issues combined. General Performance took a huge Hit in Blight Posted: 10 Sep 2019 11:15 PM PDT And I am not talking about the unplayable mess that are blighted maps. For some reason, opening a Legion gets me down to 3 fps and dynamic resolution, something that wasn't the case in the actual Legion League. The friend I play with was able to comfortably run 5-ways with me in Legion, now he gets to sub 15 fps when opening a Breach, a Blight or if there is a general mess on the screen going on. A blighted map literally freezes his screen. Something seems to give when the performance goes down the gutter from one league to the next. [link] [comments] | ||

The new Salvage Box is plain predatory (why it's NOT for the typical player) Posted: 10 Sep 2019 06:33 PM PDT Some people might end up confused from the announcement page for the new Salvage Box, thinking they can finally recycle all their unwanted mtx for a chance at getting something they might like. You can't.
From announcement page - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2635457 The new box is almost specifically designed for those who've bought way too many mystery boxes already, rather than the general player. Thankfully I'm not one of those people. I don't even have enough duplicates to pump into it to make purchasing it worth it. And btw, you can STILL get a duplicate of something you already have back. I am kinda sad that you can't just dump any mtxes you don't want (or at least the ones you got from mystery boxes) into it. I do have a fair number of those, which would make purchasing at least 1-2 of these boxes worthwhile, but nope. It just HAS to be duplicates, not merely unwanted mtxes. I'm afraid this comes across as just predatory on the very people who GGG is already milking the most, which is why it gets a thumbs down from me. For everyone else, be careful - ONLY buy this box if you're already swimming in duplicate mtxes (that you got from other mystery boxes). It's not designed for anyone else. EDIT: It seems the negative reaction had an effect. The boxes have been cancelled! It's possible they'll return in future, but likely with changes that hopefully make them far more palatable. And yes, I'm sure some will claim GGG planned all this in order to make the actually intended salvage box more positively received thanks to the whole 'listening to community feedback' thing, but hey as long as we end up with a good deal for handling duplicates (remains to be seen), I'd say we're still benefiting regardless of any PR shenanigans. Loot from Blight mechanic needs major buff Posted: 11 Sep 2019 07:00 AM PDT i did a 30 Tier 15 map test, and the loot is incredibly mediocre, i got the oil node 4 times, which net me about 30c, and about 80c from pure currency. I did got 12 stacked deck so it's better than usual, but this is incredibly terrible considering how hard the encounter is , and how long it is to finish them, as opposed to finishing the map or doing anything else From the mobs themselves, the encounter did gave me 3 t16 ( from 30 encounter) map from the loot explosion in the middle I'm currently going infinite in ashen wood, take me about 40 second per map, and if i were to do the blighted encounter it goes up to 1 min 10 sec per map, and the average loot i got from a blighted mechanic in white map is about 1-3 chaos worth total, which is not worth it when it almost takes close to double the time i need to finish the map, which i can get more master missions, more Jun, more legion monolith. Also in white map, the only loot that's going to be worth something would be oil and currency nodes, everything else almost never give anything, aside from the armor nodes very rarely gives 1-2 fusing Coming from legion, which each monolith net atleast 10c, this is 1:5 of how good legion used to be, and they are much much slower to finish than legion as well i will admit, the league mechanic is really fun, really challenging even if it's tier 3 or tier 15, however when you coming out of legion, and then putting all those hard work to defend that pump just to get nothing in the end, it kinda defeats the purpose can't really say anything about blighted maps because i haven't run alot of them, but from hearing from some streamers they seem to have the same loot caliber as in the normal blighted encounter, just alot more of it, so i don't expect much from it Edit : before i did this 30 map test, i also did about 100 encounter in white maps, and there were not a single tier 1 currency dropped, including the 30 map test as well, which is crazy considering how much they were dropping in legion [link] [comments] | ||

Is GGG going in the right direction? Posted: 11 Sep 2019 01:43 AM PDT I love the game, I love you GGG and I always will no matter. But please give the following a thought. In the past couple of leagues you have constantly improved yourself in regards of content and visuals. Rewards were plenty (legion) and you listen to the feedback of your community and adapt league mechanics to our needs. However there is something that bothers me since a couple of years. With every league the game performance gets worse. While you constantly improve the game as well I feel overall we are on a downhill spiral in regards of performance. Its kind of a difficult situation. I can fully understand the wish to create always new visuals and more impressive stuff, give out more loot and generally try to always make it better then the previous league. Understandably that´s part of your success so naturally I would assume you follow that path. But if you look at your game right now. - I enter a city and my FPS drop dramatically. I would guess its because of the heavy MTX load and the players in general but in no league before has it been that bad as in this league - You have created one of my all time favorite leagues with Tower Defense as core and I couldn´t wait to play the harder defenses just to notice that its close to impossible to have decent performance once a lot of portals spawn. And even with the 20 portal limit I doubt the performance will be constantly good Performance is such a big topic. People who only play POE might not even notice it that much but since I switched from WoW Classic or D3 to POE I feel it on every corner. The drops, the hick ups, the studdering, the minor freezing when a legion encounter pops up oder if you have beyond on your map and a lot of stuff spawns. I have tried everything, with every graphic setting on lowest and highest and I literally can´t make your game run on 60 fps constantly with a decent to good PC (not the best, but still should be viable enough for PoE or other games in that kind). Performance is the only thing that I constantly have as a negative side to your game. I wish in the future of PoE that we will have a time where I can run with a 5 party group all with CWDT setups and only spells and I have 120fps on max settings. I mean, dreaming is allowed, isn´t it? :) [link] [comments] | ||
