Over a million views on the Official Trailer for PoE 2. A big congratulations to GGG and the playerbase!

    Thank You.

For many months, I nervously anticipated the moment where I would say "We're really proud to finally reveal Path of Exile 4.0.0" before playing the Path of Exile 2 trailer. As you can see in the recording of the keynote, I was barely holding it together as I said those words on Saturday. I purposefully remained on the side of the stage while the trailer played so I could see the audience reactions, and I can't describe the feelings I felt watching the audience experience Path of Exile 2 for the first time. Every small reveal, from the character selection hanging scene, to the caravan town, to the werewolf form and finally to the Path of Exile 2 name reveal caused the audience to gasp. By the time the trailer had finished, I was very close to tears, and it was difficult to hold it together long enough to carry on the presentation. Afterwards, people told me they cried in the audience. This was the proudest moment of my life.

Path of Exile 2, Conquerors of the Atlas, the Metamorph challenge league, Path of Exile: Mobile and the ExileCon convention itself were the work of hundreds of talented people behind the scenes. While it may have been me on stage, my contributions were both creatively and technically tiny compared to the hard work and passion from the actual developers who created these amazing products.

To everyone on the Grinding Gear Games team: I would like to thank you for your incredible hard work preparing for this event. The amount of polish that went into the trailers and demos was clearly appreciated by our community, and I am so proud of what we have achieved together. You are an amazing family, and I couldn't ask for better people to work with.

I would like to thank everyone behind the scenes at ExileCon who worked so hard to keep the event running. There were a hundred moving pieces, and it all ran seamlessly. Your clear communication, careful contingency planning and high quality standards paid off with an incredible event. Your energy levels and passion for our game were contagious. Attendees frequently told me they loved the high level of staff and player engagement at the event.

I would also like to specifically thank Rebb Ford from Digital Extremes for sharing the wisdom learned from their TennoCon Warframe events. This saved us from making a lot of mistakes.

I would like to thank everyone who could make it out to New Zealand to attend ExileCon in person. It was amazing to meet everyone, hear their stories, and finally put faces to the names I have seen in our community for years. Many of our developers have told me that meeting fans and hearing praise for their work was the highlight of the show for them. I hope you really enjoyed the ExileCon card game, and I'd like to congratulate the 49 people who managed to defeat The Shaper. I'll never forget the cheer that erupted when a Headhunter dropped for one of you.

I would like to thank everyone who watched our ExileCon stream online. We had hundreds of thousands of viewers during the keynote, it was seen by over a million unique people last time I checked. I'm super sorry that the way we're awarding the Twitch Drops from the weekend has been taking a while. It backlogged up to 24 hours and is still awarding them. This caused a lot of people to be upset that they didn't win anything when they're actually in the queue to receive awards. Awards should be given out today though. We are sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this caused!

ExileCon was the best weekend of my life, it made the last thirteen years incredibly worthwhile. It has been an amazing journey, one I am proud to have been on with you. I can't wait to share future news about these expansions, starting with Conquerors of the Atlas and the Metamorph league, which you'll be playing in less than a month!

Everyone is talking about 4.0, but 3.9 is looking PRETTY DAMN SICK!!!!

Drops are now finished being handed out.

With 4.0 coming, please PLEASE consider adding an option to preview multiple MTX together

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 07:41 AM PST

I don't even care if it's on the website or in-game, just some official way to preview any MTX together, so you can see if you actually want to buy it or not. I've made an extremely beautiful paint UI for that

Can we get a round of applause for ZiggyD

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 12:00 AM PST

Dude was amazing in the kind of MC role at Exilecon. Has he done stuff like this before? He seemed like such a pro out there.

Really, all the streamer stuff was pretty fantastic. Even if it's too much of a logistical nightmare for GGG to do one of these every year, it would be cool to at least see the major streamers get together and do interviews and new content demos every year or so.

Can we get the ability to turn off "'RacerxXx' was the first to enter 'spoiler area'" before PoE2 (or even 3.9 for new players)?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 04:07 AM PST

You might get the story line spoiled, or you might get your favorite tv-show/book/etc spoiled, when people name their characters stuff that give away endings.

I'd love to be able to have chat turned on but those announcements turned off.

Anyone else getting some D2 vibes from the new Hunting Grounds music?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 06:48 AM PST

In my opinion, the new tabula should have a mod "Socketed skills have 5 white sockets" to keep it's original flavor.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2019 08:03 PM PST

Getting an extra skill slot doesn't seem as helpful as having access to an early 6 link to me, as we'll have access to 9 active skills from level 1 and that's more than most builds use early game, when tabula shines today.

Just my $0.02. Super stoked for PoE2!

For those who missed it, they announced Tabula Rasa would have 3 white sockets in PoE 2, compared to today where it has 6 white linked sockets. This means you could use 3 active skills, but does not give you any 6Ls.

A simple way to balance melee and ranged physical damage.

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 05:15 AM PST

Considering next patch is about bow skills I propose a simple way to balance melee vs ranged attacks. And I know bow users will really hate it and downvote this topic to oblivion, but I think this change makes a lot of sense from both balance and logical points of view. The idea is simple: make accuracy scale negatively with distance, i.e. the further the target the more accuracy you need to hit it. At the same time make base monster evasion lower.

+ Buffs melee, as they will need very little investment in accuracy and can invest in defence instead

+ On the other hand characters who want to kill monsters off-screen will have to invest heavily in accuracy, as a trade-off for safety.

P.S. "Hits cannot be evaded" should probably have to be changed to only work within certain distance, i.e. "Hits againt nearby targets cannot be evaded".

With the introduction of shape shifting, I would like to see a lich transformation

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 11:36 AM PST

As a summoner player and fan of the Necromancer archetype, I would definitely like to see a lich transformation. Possibly worked into a new ascendency or into the existing Necromancer.

Servers in South Africa (or anywhere in Africa, really)

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 03:51 AM PST

First, thank you GGG for the absolutely amazing Exilecon and all the incredible announcements!

Given the continuing focus on telegraphed attacks, and intricate gameplay that's going to get more sensitive to latency, our ~200ms ping here in South Africa is only going to become more problematic as time goes on.

Seems a good time to remind you guys that there are many players in SA, hungry for a seamless connection to your servers. :)

GGG really did something unique with Exile Con and streamers.

    Posted: 17 Nov 2019 03:19 PM PST

So I think GGG did something really unique with Exile Con in that they let the streamers give the context while still letting them be themselves.

Fitlrst, instead of having the usual corporate "talking heads" from PR and Marketing they had actual designers and developers on stage like Johathan and Neon. Now was it awkward? Maybe a little bit sometimes but they knew what they were talking about and were honest and genuine in their responses. Even talking about what they don't like about the current game and the mistakes they made.

On top of that they flew most of the big streamers in. Instead of paying 1 or 2 of the most known ones, turning them into basically a marketing tool, they flew in different streamers and let them run the interviews and playthroughs. Most importantly they let them be THEMSELVES as streamers. This way you get an honest reaction from the streamer you trust instead of a corportate shill that's never going to badmouth the playable demo.

GGG basically just said: "Here it is, this is our vision and you the community, can judge for yourselves through streamer impressions. No hyped up vague marketing speak, just a rough cinematic and then on to gameplay and systems.

I think they knocked it out of the park with respecting their playerbase, making something they themselves are a 100% proud of and all around being honest, humble, awkward, genuine and at times, adorable :)

Can't wait for new supporter packs

    Posted: 18 Nov 2019 04:27 AM PST

With the announcement of the Metamorph league this past weekend, one of the things I am most excited for are the new supporter packs for the league. The whole visual design is so different to other things in the game and think there is some amazing design space, so can't wait for GGG to show these off.

[PoE2] The top three rows are a mock-up I made to improve skill identity and visibility for color-blind people. For the skill icons I took inspiration from the mobile UI... I shouldn't have said that...

Nobody thought to ask about Pantheon in 4.0

    Posted: 17 Nov 2019 07:35 PM PST

Because nobody cares about the Pantheon. If we aren't killing gods throughout the campaign it doesn't make sense to steal their powers. I think the system is going to get axed or transformed rather than reworked like we thought. What do y'all think?
