Glad - Bow Bleed Puncture or Lacerate Impale/Bleed?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 08:08 PM PST

I'm trying to decide my next character - which I know is going to be a glad. I have ~7ex. I've always liked melee and did a Fivrr's frostblade starter with okay success (pretty rippy in Red maps). My atlas is not very progressed.

I've thought of two options (open to others) - please let me know what you think:

    1. Mathil's Bow Puncture build
      1. Pros: Ranged, clear speed
      2. Cons: I'd have to make my own gear via fossils (never crafted before), Blink Arrow, less tanky?, Two 6Ls
    2. Esoro's Lacerate
      1. Pros: likely 6.5-7k HP, only one 6L, utilizes uniques that I can buy straight out, 2M+ dps
      2. Cons: melee, lower clear speed.

Anyone have an opinion? Any insights?

I'm really struggling with the whole "having to craft my own gear" for some reason, I don't want to waste chaos since this is the most wealthy I've been since a Mirror dropped for me in Beastiary.

    P.S. Happy New Year Exiles!

Underwhelming damage with rain of arrows

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 04:11 AM PST

Hi everyone, I don't usually do this but before giving up on my first Metamorph character, I thought I'd open the floor to any suggestions about my rain of arrows build. I feel like I'm missing something obvious because it seems to break down as early as T12-T13 maps, with metamorphs taking up to a minute and conquerors being a sad joke (5 minute long fights at my level of skill = certainly using multiple portals to cheese the fights).

On the tankiness side I still take the occasional one-shot which I'm not thrilled about.

I'd appreciate if anyone would like to take a look and offer any suggestions (passives, gems, gear or anything else). The only stipulation is that I want to stay with rain of arrows, which I've been enjoying, or at bare minimum, something that doesn't have to stack additional arrows at every opportunity.

    POB code: https://pastebin.com/dsVNLrZi

Config options: frenzy charges (blood rage is keeping them up 90% of the time on metamorphs. When I attempt bosses again, I'll have a frenzy setup to keep them active in the absence of trash mods).

Tailwind with 10 skills used recently: my ROA has 4 APS so I think this is reasonable.

Enemy is bleeding: I have 85% bleed chance, so most of the rain of arrows hits will indeed be on a bleeding target.

Appreciate any help you can offer.

    - awakener
    - hier tier blighted maps

    ??

since i got pretty lucky in ssf and have shapers touch, geofris chest, alberons booties, 2 efficcient trainings, 2 brawns, a baron, a whakachakalakamatuatittypitty shield.....just no astramentis (after 2 days of farming i can say: the polymath is a meme), i am curious how this build performs in all the hard content. it should be a good delver and also pretty good vs awakener i guess, but high tier blighted maps, uber elder, sick metamorphs?

Beginner - Advice on how to progress cyclone build appreciated

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 04:04 AM PST

New player here, I've been following Furty's Cyclone build (https://www.poe-vault.com/guides/ultimate-cyclone-slayer-build-guide) and feel like my build has plateaued. I've tried to get as much of the recommended gear as possible but found the prices are very steep. I am happy with my dps but anything about T11 maps has me sweating about how squishy the build feels.

I love the playstyle of cyclone and would like to stick with it so any advice on what upgrades I should prioritise would be much appreciated. Here is my PoB: https://pastebin.com/sqaTnQd5

I'm looking for a fast mapper build to farm t13+ maps. Don't want to play a bow or mines build. melee or ranged doesn't matter, but I prefer not to play cyclone (played this so often..need something new).

    budget something around 20 ex.

    Cremation - chieftain vs necromancer

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 09:21 PM PST

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with both and had any insight which seems to be better. It seems the chieftain version is particularly popular this league (especially with sire of shards). For what it's worth, I'm looking at it from a ssf SC perspective

Chieftain seems to have more tankiness via endurance charges and massive regen/leech coupled with huge life. Most people on poe.ninja use sire of shards (can be farmed on ssf) but I do worry about pigeon holing myself into trying to 6L a unique that can't branch out to other builds/skills like VD. Generally like 6Ling rares due to ability to get higher quality levels

Necromancer is able to sustain hybrid and MoM pretty easily (not sure how sustain life though) and also has some additional QOL in the form of offerings, built in shock with corpses, and other bonuses such as likely higher cast speed, movement speed (if use flesh offering)

So, looking for insight on how the two fare against each other specifically in a ssf context. They both don't appear too gear dependent but would be interested in seeing if anyone had experience with them. Thanks in advance

    Any advice for me?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 04:20 PM PST

Hello all I've been playing for a few leagues and felt like i was getting a grasp on mechanics etc. so i stopped following guides and started making my own builds !

Last league in blight i had a disgustingly untouchable cobra lash ascendant that i was very happy with for budget.

This league i started with this lacerate and it felt really bad leveling but picked up quickly once i got maps but anyways https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/wbrunooo/characters

Is the link and I'm hoping anyone can give me some tips to help move my char in the next direction , I'm currently clearing t15 max qual vaaled rare maps with nemesis mods deathless but i actually used all 6 portals on mastermind so my clear is good but my single target could use some buffs thanks all

Looking for a jugg cyclone build with some wishes :>

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 12:49 AM PST

Hi guys, I'm a bit lost into the look of all these cyclone builds and am looking for a bit of help :D

Kinda a newbie on the game still. I decided to start the game with a starter build, budget friendly molten strike juggernaut. I'm now lvl 88, doing around tier 10 stuff but from the moment I was like lvl 50, I started to feel I don't like playing molten strike at all. I kept pushing the leveling to discover the game mechanics and farm some currencies to respec any day and now I'm there !

I saved like ~8-10 exalts to get couple core items of a new build, thought at first I'd go on a zombomancer jugg but it seems really sophisticated to play at first sight then I changed my mind for a cyclone build. I just would like to have a decent AOE range. I saw some build with wide-screen aoe range ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW9BuOLoD80 ) but this one seems tricky to play even if it seems awesome. Am more like looking for something you could play brain-offline but still a good build I could upgrade while farming more currencies. Since I'm jugg I guess I'll be tanky any way, then I'll just put a point on an average build in terms of range/clearing speed/bossing.... thanks for future answers and HAPPY 2020 bois <3

    Looking for boss killing build

    Posted: 01 Jan 2020 12:37 AM PST

Hello, I'm currently playing enki's arc build for 3.9 I'm not really enjoying how much I'm dying but I do enjoy the damage. My character is close to 1 mill damage currently and now I am wanting to try something new. I am looking for a new build, I have some currency saved up and could probably have around 20 ex to spend on a new build. I'm looking for something that is a boss killer. I'm currently running T14 maps and completing my atlas which is going good but I'm just dying way too much and I don't want to spend more currency on this arc character. The only things I don't want to play are mines/summoner builds. Not a fan and am looking for something that has some really good dps and can map fairly decent. I don't care too much for clear speed.

Looking for a SSF blight map build.

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 08:31 PM PST

I already have a bane occultist for mapping and skelly necro for awakener/bosses, but my bane occultist can't do blighted maps for shit and I don't wanna fail the few I get.

Any idea of a build that can tackle blighted maps decently and can be made in ssf?

I have a few six links (short bow and carnal armour) avaible, the decent uniques I found so far are flamability impresence, xoph's nurture, haemophilia gloves and that's it everything else is normal uniques that drop everywhere.

I'd rather not do a miner if possible, I know they are strong but my hands hurt and spamming a key constantly doesn't sound fun...

Need help setting up PoB: Necro Flame Surge fueled by massive cast speed from CwDT spell loop

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 08:01 PM PST

    PoB: https://pastebin.com/dJet8b76

Hi everyone ! I always wanted to try a build using spellcast loops for maximum memes and power and tried to build my own one. So I opened PoB and played around for a while, and came up with this. I was wondering about how to improve more on it. Thing is, I need advice to push it even further beyond. Right now it sits at 1.6+mio shaper dps, 4.6k es+life (armour and boots are there for life and res. You could probably get much better ones.).

For the gear, Martyre of innocence for massive damage, scold's Bridle to get CwDT going along with Doedre's Malevolence, Eye of innocence to get even more damage taken, two ngamahu's sign to self heal a lot. Leash of oblation let me use all 3 offering to buff myself and consume corpses. With this setup, the only slots for rares are boots and body armour, which need to get a massive amount of resists to be useful (which doesn't matter because I like the shiny orange borders around the uniques)

Skills used: Flame surge as dps CwDT firestorm to ignite everything in sight and apply combustion (and the ignite buffs massively flame surge's damage) CwDT unearth with max projectile (GMP and new Greater Volley for 9 projectiles...) CwDT Desecrate with spell cascade CwDT with all 3 offerings (Bone, Flesh, Spirit) Flame dash with arcane surge for movement skill and spell damage Anger and Herald of Ash as Auras Vaal Righteous fire as secondary buff for bosses (not active in PoB given).

Skill tree goes a bit everywhere to get the most damage and life. We also take a bit of mana. I was actually also thinking about MoM. I don't know if sustain is an issue with it.

Now, I was worried about two things. First is: With this setup, do I sustain life and ES ? I think I should thanks to the spirit offering but I'm not sure. And if I can, could I sustain RF too ? It would be a huge dps boost. and Second: Do I sustain mana with this setup ? Is essence glutton with the amount of corpses I consume every second sufficient?

I'm taking any advice you could give me on this setup. Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for your time.

    Whispering Ice Ascendant stuck!

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 02:01 PM PST

Howdy! ive been playing Whispering Ice Ascendant this league after league starting as a necro, but it seems I've hit a bit of a wall. Im capable of farming T16 at at least awakener level 4 but its a bit iffy. Not really sure what I can be doing differently, currently im farming sulphite to fossil craft new gear, working on the weakest piece at the time of crafting but its been slow (Aside from that helm, got lucky there)

    Heres the PoB: https://pastebin.com/BknMdd4s

Any advice is welcome, never really made it this far into the endgame so im lost lol.

    Viper Strike/Flicker Strike Build

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 03:21 PM PST

So to start things off I'm pretty new to the game. I just got to mapping on my first character not too long ago, mostly due to me playing HC leagues w/o having any idea what I'm doing and I'd RIP pretty early into maybe act 3 (just got scion this year, after a long break).

Anywho, I wanted to know if there was a build focused on using VS as a single target and then using flicker for clear? I've seen some flicker builds that use DS as a single target but no Chaos/DoT damage.

Is there a way to even reliably build this to make it work into end game (mapping/delve)? Or would the PoB to get enough chaos damage to do work, severely hinder the flicker or visa versa?

What is the best Delve build for 10ex or less?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 03:48 PM PST

Delve is something I've never really bothered to try. But, I'm not really feeling the atlas change this league (seriously, having to do every map twice to get your bonus sighs) so I'm looking to mix things up and try something different that is just as rewarding so I'm ready to give Delving an honest try. Since I've never really looked into it and the information I find is confusing and overwhelming, what is a good Delving build with an emphasis on speed and survivabilty? I'm not looking at delving to crazy depths just something that I can farm reasonably for good money. I believe you're suppose to stop at like 350 or so? I'm not sure.

    Thanks for the help.

I'm aware the dps will never be up there but i'm aiming for a lot of survivability and barely enough damage for the whole content.

Help with class choice for CoC DD

    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 09:25 AM PST

Mathil made a nice CoC DD build last league as necro....however after changes he said elementalist or assassin with dagger/shield would be a better choice than the previous necro with 2h exquisite blade. I began looking and recently found a build someone posted from the current league who is running this build as a necromancer (dagger/shield) with inpulsas..... So, I plugged in his build to PoB and when compared to elementalist, the elementalist proved to be better. Also, when i compared mathils elementalist to his assassin (starter build templates), the elementalist pulled out ahead yet again. I messaged the OP with the necro build on YouTube and he replied that necro would simply just be better overall and i just can't see where this is justified. Would anyone be willing to weigh in on this and help me decide the best class to choose to try this build....because as of now im sold on the elementalist. I will add a link to the dudes necro build and the links to mathils versions can be found in his 3.9 starter build video description.

    Thanks for any insights.
