I don't care about overpowered builds, how many splinters you get from a map, trade being slow and if the economy is crashing. I can't play the damn game. These performance issues are unreal and should be the number one priority.

Edit: every time someone posts "I don't have performance issues" it will randomly pick someone who does have them and miraculously fix it for them.

    What Happened with Purposeful Harbinger

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 05:38 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I want to take a moment to talk about a few things but in particular, the changes to the Purposeful Harbinger notable that we announced a few days ago.

If you are not in the loop, here's what happened - The Cluster Jewel system in Path of Exile: Delirium introduced 281 new notable passive skills, including one called Purposeful Harbinger. This notable grants "10% increased Effect of Aura Buffs on You for each Herald affecting you". There were two issues with this notable. Firstly, it is severely numerically overpowered. Secondly, it was broken in that it affected game mechanics that it shouldn't have — anything that was internally classified as an aura — rather than just auras from skills as intended.

Players quickly began to use the intended effects of Purposeful Harbinger in ways that were extremely strong. It became clear that builds centred around Purposeful Harbinger were the most powerful options in the game. The power level was so strong that people were skeptical that it would remain in the game in its original state, and some people avoided building around it because of this. At this time, a community member asked for clarification about whether the node would be receiving any mid-league changes. We had a look at its power level and realised it was uncomfortably strong.

However, we are aware of how mid-league nerfs affect players' enjoyment and try to avoid doing this whenever possible. So with these things in mind, we announced that we would not be nerfing its power until next league. This confirmation gave people the greenlight to start heavily investing in the build. Unfortunately at this point, we did not realise that Purposeful Harbinger was also applying to a number of mechanics that it wasn't intended to. When we confirmed that we were not intending to change it mid-league, we only had the numerical power in mind as we were not aware of the broken functionality at the time. This was very much our mistake.

At the moment that we should have really worked out that something bad was going on, our company was disrupted by the government-mandated lockdown. We moved our computers home, set up all sorts of remote-working stuff, and tried to adjust as a company to work remotely. The fire with the Purposeful Harbinger notable burned stronger in the background, with us unaware of just how broken things had become.

Once we realised what was going on, and that this passive skill had become one the most unintentionally and counterintuitively powerful mechanics to ever exist in Path of Exile, we realised that there was no option but to fix it. We also knew that this was going to cause a lot of upset.

As soon as we made the decision to fix the functionality, we announced it to give people as much notice as possible. However, this did not mitigate the time and currency that people had invested into playing this build based on our previous comment.

We made a series of errors that caused many players to waste valuable game hours at a time in the world when people most need distraction. Purposeful Harbinger should not have been released in its initial form. When it became popular, we should have taken time to investigate it more thoroughly. At minimum, when we were questioned about the build's ongoing potential we should have taken a pause to reflect as a team about this, rather than giving our default response of "no mid-league nerfs". In turn, this would have prevented us from wrongly confirming that it would not be nerfed and would have prevented people from investing in the build.

This won't happen again. We are so sorry for people's loss of time, currency and faith. Online games are supposed to be a place where you can enjoy yourself and be distracted from the woes of the real world and in this instance we have failed to provide that for some people. That really sucks. Since the announcement, we have had many discussions about what went wrong for us internally and how we can do better going forward. We are so sorry.

    Constitution passive tree

Behind my berserker tree there is suppose to be a massive chunk of life to spec into. But my Berserker tree completly blocks it. And accordning to a guide im following I should be able to go there.

Is there a way to move it or is there a new update on the tree that removed it?

GGG : Can we turn off the annoying zombie growling noise?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 12:17 PM PDT

I have to turn off the sound effects to not get a headache from the constant growling in my ears throughout the game. I cannot understand the need to put in the growling for this league. Is it a nerf? It's low priority, but please, for my sanity, I need this.

Delirium Guide v2.0 (patch 3.10.1c) (link in comment)

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:20 PM PDT

PSA: With 3.10.1c today, you should consider changing how you use your survival / absorption skill.

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 12:07 PM PDT

In the patch notes for 3.10.1c (and in the game now), GGG added this:

" Casting an instant skill that is bound to the left mouse button now also causes your character to move to where your cursor was. Previously, a single click would not cause your character to move. "

This means that you can bind something like Steelskin. Molten Shell, or Immortal Call to LMB, and it will activate on left click, with the functionality of setting "Move Only". The skill activates on cooldown, even if you are holding down LMB to move. It is a significant change that allows you to keep your survival skill up with 0 added clicking. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew about this! Try it out!

Cluster jewels are probably the best thing implemented in the game in a long time. I can play my off meta and jank builds much better than before ands its really encouraging me to stick with my characters. I just wish they weren't tied to delirium if they go core.

Glad that heralds are getting nerfed but how about we prioritize something that's objectively broken aka immortal legion monsters that cannot drop their rewards?

Reminder that Item Pickup need improvement. Couldn't pick that map there (imagine if it would've been a mirror).

So can we get an update on splinter drops?

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 04:48 PM PDT

Couple friends were acting like i was nuts when i told them the amount of splinters ive gotten from maps no matter what i did.

So set up my stream, and ran a completely juiced up ivory temple map, full sextants, chiseled/alch'd vaal'd (not greatest quantity/packsize) but okay. Added full scarabs + beyond zana + einhar master mission) with 1 delirium orb... and got TWO splinters. Entire map 2 splinters only from the boss at end....

Ran another one and thought i would give slightly better info....

    https://i.imgur.com/muXCxwc.png

    - T14 Tropical Island map.

    - 31% packsize

    - 102% quant

    - Gilded Harby scarab, polished ambush, polished breach scarabs.

    - Sextants were all added packs. Poison/lightning/corrupt/convert.

    - 1 delirium orb added. 8 and 8 rewards at end (Millimeter from 9).

    - Beyond zana added to map

    - Einhar master mission

TONS of mobs killed, was pretty fun map, lots of loots, cards, etc etc like normal map. Every pumpkin/nest looking thing hit on ground and 100% fully cleared.

    11 splinters dropped...

This is not an oddity or something with bad RNG. Every map i have ever ran is like this. Regardless of layout, how much i clear, delirium orbed or not.

A normal chisel'd alched map t14+ with decent quant/pack nets me like 2-9 splinters for ALMOST full clearing. Usually i hit 3/4 of a map or a bit more depending on layout and such. Yet ppl talk about averages of 30, 40, 50, 70, 100, 125+ on full juiced ones etc etc.

There is obviously something broken and going on, and it has been days and days and days with no response at all on whether something is even wrong or bugged. I think it is time for at least an announcement to let us know what is going on, if its a bug, if it's being looked at, that they know of the problem, etc etc.

Would be more than happy to stream/record video to show anyone in GGG that something is clearly wrong.

On Sirus, the Conqueror That Was Not

    Posted: 01 Apr 2020 04:03 AM PDT

Patch 3.9, Conquerors of the Atlas introduced a new epilogue storyline to replace the Shaper and Elder quest sequence, and came in tow with five entirely new endgame encounters. The Warlord, Hunter, Redeemer, and Crusader leapt out to players with impressive visual designs, musical accompaniment, and personality to spare. Meant to be representations of the heroes who had bravely pushed back the elder countless times (and yes, the madness of constantly grinding away at the atlas), these characters felt like worthy replacements for the voiceless guardians of Shaper and Elder.

I in no way mean to say that these fights are perfect, by any means. The Vexillium Immortalis banners feel terrible if you don't have enough damage, and Al Hezmin might as well just be a questionnaire asking how you feel about chaos damage. But even still, the combination of art direction and fight design has enough satisfying moments that I enjoy the process of spawning each of them and taking them on one more time. I smile whenever Al Hezmin says "Out, Strike," or Veritania screams that I'm repugnant. It feels good to leap away from the Hand of Justice, or watch Baran slam into his arena and lay down mana runes.

One of the things they do right as bosses, comes before you even enter the arena with them. To some extent, an aspect of their mechanics can be seen in the monsters spawned from the influence on the atlas. The mana squares show players what happens when they encounter them during Baran's fight, the banners present a strong defensive buff that is even more powerful alongside Drox, Al-Hezmin is joined by an entire nest of snakes*, and Veritania uses empowered versions of attacks used by her minions. Without needing to do research or watch a guide, players are given opportunities to know what's going to happen when they face off against these bosses, and how they can respond to these moves.

Sirus does none of these things.

Before I devolve into a frustrated rant about the things I don't like in Sirus' fight, I will attempt to be fair and say that there are some gems buried inside it. The voice and personality of Sirus is well directed, along with the other conquerors. His lines are filled with snark, even as he's destroying Oriath around you. He extends the astral motif of Shaper and Elder, raining stars and meteors down instead of black holes. He also has pretty good taste in love interests, with his major crush on Zana.

These things, however, do not excuse the issues that exist in the Sirus encounter. If a player makes the unfortunate mistake of dying once, they are forced to walk a deadly tightrope between storms while being bombarded by lasers and told to die. The maze Sirus throws you into regardless of any player action may just open up into a storm, or any other red ground effect that happens to be in that fight. Aside from the spinning negation beam, Sirus does not invoke fear or a sense of accomplishment when I interact with his mechanics - merely frustration.

I am perfectly willing to accept the possibility that I'm just not getting what makes this a masterpiece of a boss fight, and my own weakness as a player is coloring my perception of this encounter. I just have felt incredibly frustrated each and every time I go through the dance of spawning him, and want to talk with anyone about it.

*Astute players will point out that the snakes summoned by Al Hezmin are invulnerable despite using the model of the tunneling asps that you can damage from his influence
