Harbingers hate him! Loot from 100 T15 Beachheads

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 10:31 AM PDT

Hi everyone, TLDR will be at the bottom.

Just to preface, I'm playing on hardcore delirium so I'll include both the prices I sold everything at on hardcore, and the estimated value for standard based on current prices there too.

So I ran only T15 Beachhead maps for level 99-100, it took a total of 172 maps. I noticed that these maps were only going for 10 chaos (14 chaos on standard delirium), and decided to see if there was much profit in running them. These maps took a total of 2 days to run.

    The Loot

Here is a picture of the dump tab.

The total investment in Beachheads was 1000 chaos, or 1400 chaos in standard prices. Here's just the currency:

    Loot Hardcore Price Standard Price
    357x chaos 357c 357c
    5x exalts 260c 720c
    517x horizons 129c 103c
    56x annuls 280c 224c
    84x ancients 168c 336c
    466x alterations 93c 93c
    110x fusings 36c 17c
    600x jewellers 50c 24c
    40x regals 40c 8c
    2x divines 20c 20c
    Total 1433c 1700c

So just from the currency drops alone, the profit is 433c in hardcore delirium and 300c in standard delirium.

Now let's have a look at the map drops: (Note that these Beachheads were run on a 151/154 awakening 8 atlas)

Map Tier Hardcore Price Standard Price
    47x T14 188c 141c
    44x T15 220c 176c
    51x T16 306c 255c
    11x Guardians 220c 275c
    Total 934c 847c

Add these together with the currency and we've got 1367c worth of profit on hardcore, and 1147c worth of profit on standard.

Some of the uniques, namely the shield and helmet, are worth a fair bit also, but are difficult to sell so I won't include those in the price totals. But here are the amount of each unique harbinger item sets completed:

    Item Amount Completed
    Belt 2
    Quiver 4
    Staff 4
    Shield 4
    Mask 5
    Sword 5

    Pros and Cons

    Pros

    • Extremely safe to run. Nothing in this map really does much damage, other than the occasional volatile flameblood or pack of bearers. Definitely recommend for hardcore.

    • The loot returns come in pure currency drops. These are way easier to trade in to chaos or other currency than it is to sell items.

    • Experience in the map is surprisingly good. About equivalent to chaining T16 maps.

    • Works just as well on slower builds, as the main chunk of exp and loot (the boss in the middle) requires some waiting for enemies to spawn.

    • The supply of Beachhead maps is higher than ever, with delirium dropping it and Harbinger orbs pretty often.

    Cons

    • Running Beachhead over and over again can get boring fast.

    • Not the best loot or experience. If you're after faster and more dangerous option, try the Simulacrum instead.

    • There are no big loot drops (except mirror shards) so your looting will mostly be picking up scraps.

    Some last fun facts:

    • The most amount of exalted shards from one map was 8.

    • The most amount of annulment shards from one map was 37.

    • I did get one mirror shard, but it was in one of the later maps after these 100 sadly.

    • T15 Beachhead maps have already risen to 13c on hardcore (sorry!)

    • It may be cheaper to buy Harbinger orbs and turn your red maps in to Beachheads at 1/5 chance. Check the current prices if you're not sure.

    • I finished exactly one set of 'The Endless Darkness' (9/9) for a Voidforge in these 100 maps. I'd estimate this card drop rate to be 1/9 or 1/10

    TL/DR

1000c investment on hardcore, 2367c returns on hardcore. (1367c profit)

1400c investment on standard, 2547c returns on standard. (1147c profit)

If you've got any questions, ask below.

Also if you want one of the harbinger uniques on hardcore delirium(Belt, Quiver, Staff or Sword) comment below which build you're playing that needs the item, and your character name, and i'll contact you in-game to give one to you.

I spend a lot of time exploring obscure interactions in PoE, would there be any interest in a video series highlighting some of the most interesting ones that may be worth building around?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:07 PM PDT

Every league I level a bunch of characters to maps just to test out potentially interesting interactions with new items introduced each league. I'm thinking of starting a video series detailing some of my more interesting findings to help inspire new build ideas. Would anyone be interested in watching this?

While you were stacking Heralds, I was learning about the clunkiest skill in all of POE: Stormbind

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:24 PM PDT

First things first, I don't really recommend Stormbind to anyone. If this skill didn't have the clunky 2-skill mechanic, I think it would be legitimately very good. I laughed, I cried, and I'm genuinely surprised that I ended up having a good time.

    THAT SAID,

I do "choose my build" stuff on Twitch, and almost backed down from building around Stormbind because of how clunky it felt after exploring it for an hour or so in Standard with a tabula. I talked to some people trying self-cast Trickster and a OOS-Archmage setup to bandaid the clearing, which is a very active playstyle, but not one I was willing to play. After trying some "self cast" stuff, a hybrid Spell Totem setup, and a 100% totem setup with Ancestral Bond, I settled on a build featuring the following:

    • 6 link Stormbind setup linked to spell totem, which channels "Stormbind"
    • 4 link Stormbind setup, which I use to "hand-channel" the second part of the skill, "Rune Blast"
    • The Indigon/Arcane Cloak combo
    • Ivory Tower + Prism Guardian low life
    • Skyforth for stun and power charges
    • Atziri's Foible with Tranquility annoint
    • and Doedre's Malevolence for a flat +50 to my mana costs, for Indigon and Rune Blast empowering the Stormbind runes.

...basically all unique items except rings/belt and a +1 lightning wand.

Short Clip , Stormbind vs Shaper phase 3 @ 50% health, trying to get a good clip of the damage.

    https://clips.twitch.tv/FrigidDependableGalagoSuperVinlin

Longer Clip , Stormbind vs Awakener level 5, by accident.

    https://www.twitch.tv/videos/593414410

This is one of the clunkiest skills in all of POE. After days of experimentation and research, including Woolfio's youtube vids which I'll link below, I want to share some tidbits with you:

    • If you take Ancestral Bond, you can kill yourself to reflect, proc Ele Overload, Leech, and proc onkill effects like Phasing/Onslaught
    • If you channel "Rune Bind" with Infused Channeling, you don't boost your damage at all. Rune Bind doesn't have the "Lightning" tag.
    • If you channel "Rune Bind", you do not trigger OOS. OOS needs a "Lightning" skill to proc the extra damage.
    • If you hand-channel "Stormbind", you gain the correct infusion buff with a lightning tag, which will increase your damage properly.
    • If you DON'T use a spell totem for Stormbind, you're playing a skill where you have to channel twice just to kill a white pack.
    • If you channel "Rune Bind" with Archmage support, it adds no damage. Archmage only supports things that hit with damage. (confirmed early on from dev notes).

So Rune Bind doesn't "deal the damage", so Archmage doesn't support it. But Rune Bind also does deal the damage, because I still kill myself to reflect when using Ancestral Bond.

The mapping is surprisingly okay, all things considered. I put down a totem for every single pack, and i get to tap Rune Bind randomly. Auto targeting is included on Runeblast to target the Stormbind runes, so that is rather straightforward. I think I have built around this clunky skill well enough that the only problem with it -- is that it's a totem skill. Not great at wave 18+ of Simulacrum.

That said, it one or two-shots most bosses.

I farmed the Mesa boss 200 times to see how favoring maps works, here's the results!

    Posted: 15 Apr 2020 11:38 PM PDT

First off, video link to my breakdown and my thoughts on these results:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FosURNsBhPU

Second off: A moment of silence for my currency tab. Okay moving on.

Third: Link to my data here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10W0SMNOxQ8GsptloO6v0OFThfrA-h9gk39cOpC8g-pc/edit#gid=0

Data was gathered on plain Mesa maps, no sextants, no scarabs, no prophecies, no conqueror influence, plain +8% zana mod.

tl;dr: 1. Triple favoring a map increases its atlas weight by about +350% +4775% (Thanks to /u/HiddenoO for pointing out a flaw in my math in my worksheet)

    1. Map bosses dropping a connected map is affected by this

    2. Map bosses seem to base drop a connected map 35% of the time, 42~43% of the time with the +8% 8/8 woke atlas bonus

    3. Want to sustain Burial Chambers T14 easier? Favorite Mesa and Toxic Sewer, then when you run out of Burial Chambers maps, Burn all your toxic sewers just killing the boss and convert them at a ratio of 10:4 into Mesa. Then unfavor Mesa and Toxic Sewer and favor Burial Chambers, and convert your pile of Mesa maps back into Burial Chambers at a 10:4 ratio. Then rinse and repeat. This should massively boost sustain. Note, this same atlas strat can be applied to any map linked to another map that is easy to rapidly speed run to the boss like Bog, Barrows, City Square, etc.

    4. This "kill the boss only" strategy nets you tonnes of master missions, Synth maps, and Guardian maps. Running those missions, Synth Maps, and Guardian maps can boost your sustain and potentially create a feedback loop

If you have questions, wanna see more content, or wanna come laugh at more of my misery as I see how well this atlas "Strat" works, come check me out at:

Thanks and I hope this was informative to some folks out there! Let me know if you have any questions!

    Alternative Trade Site

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 08:01 AM PDT

Look, we all know that the trade sites have issues due to the API that GGG provides being unstable at times. They are aware and should eventually make improvements. Aside from external issues, each trade site is subject to their own issues as well.

I don't want to force a trade site on anyone. All of you should have the ability to use whichever trade site you prefer; setting aside the fact that sometimes they don't all work properly.

I'm hoping to make you aware of some features that are available to poeapp.com. Being the 2nd trade site to be released, I wanted to expand upon the awesome site that xyz built. As an avid player (at the time), there were certain features that I wanted to use and share with the community. I am the only dev of this app, and have poured an inordinate about of time and effort into this project. In its early days, it utilized Material Design - this has no longer been the case for quite some time. Without your use and support of the site, there would be no reason for me continue development.

The majority of the features listed below were firsts.

On top of these features, you may also search by available/used modifiers:

    • [pseudo] # Prefix Modifiers
    • [pseudo] # Empty Prefix Modifiers
    • [pseudo] # Suffix Modifiers
    • [pseudo] # Empty Suffix Modifiers
    • [pseudo] # Modifiers
    • [pseudo] # Empty Modifiers

Exact prefix/suffix counts will appear alongside items too.
