I ran 500 maps to test Delirium Mirror spawn rates, here are the results:

    Posted: 27 Jul 2020 09:27 AM PDT

    Premise:

Following the sentiments shared in this sub that Delirium Mirrors were too rare and splinter drops were too low, I decided to do some testing for myself to see whether this was true. After concluding my first 100 maps however, i compared my results to Grimro's preliminary results from his own test to find that there was a moderate variance between the two, this lead me to perform another 150 map test under stricter conditions and with MORE juice, accompanied by 250 non juiced maps to have some sort of baseline to compare to.

    Methodology:

From both the Wiki and GGG directly, we have been told:

Delirium has a 5% chance to appear in a zone, from the Torched Courts) in Act 5 onwards.

In maps, each Master, league mechanic, and sextant modifier on the map increases the chance of adding a Delirium encounter to the zone.

Based on this, my approach with the first 100 maps was to use a master, a zana mod, 4 random scarabs and 4 of any sextant, however after further consideration (and running the maps) I decided this methodology was potentially flawed, as divination/cartography/celestial scarabs may not fit any of the above criteria, and additionally, some zana mods, scarabs and sextants had overlap. Additionally, due to conducting this test after midnight most nights, I found myself initially running an unsextanted map following a conqueror kill before remembering that I was collecting data, for this reason, I decided to restart the initial 100 map test with Sirus primed to spawn from Zana so that conqueror tracks would not interrupt my test.

For the 2nd test of 150 fully juiced maps, I decided it would be ideal not just to have juice for the sake of improving mirror spawns, but also to improve splinter drop rates, as such, I ran the following set up:

    1. Gilded Perandus Scarabs, cheap to bulk buy, they add a lot of packs and with Cadiro guaranteed, in the long term it would pay for itself, over the 150 maps I attained 1ex, a Shavs, 4 Atziris Foibles and 3 Perandus Manors from Cadiro, in addition to tons of small currency.
    2. Polished Breach & Harbinger Scarabs, like above, cheap to bulk buy and they add alot of extra mods. I typically would pop breaches in non delirium maps, if it wasn't a chayula breach or near a Harbinger/Legion, I likely would skip it. I did all Harbingers that spawned as that would allow me to break even/profit on both these scarabs. This resulted in 8 Ancient Orbs, 8 Annulment Orbs, 8 Exalted Shards and half a chayula breachstone. I broke even here but thats okay because they dropped maps and provided delirium juice.
    3. Rusted Legion Scarabs, more or less same as above, cheap and lots of packs. Legions also made up 4 of my 7 exalt drops throughout the 150 map test
    4. 4x Awakened Sextant mods, only including mods that add pack size. Master sextant mods were rolled over to avoid sharing space with the Master Missions available on the map device (cant run both), anything that overlapped with other juice was also rolled over for the sake of testing (legion, harbinger, breach)
    5. Alva. Alva was run on every map as a result of adding the most juice of all the masters, but I never actually completed any incursions unless inside a Delirium mirror. If you are out of Alva's I'd recommend Einhar 2nd as Jun has a bug where completing some Betrayal encounters will prematurely and suddenly end a Delirium Mirror
    6. Zana Nemesis, probably not cost effective but I wanted the chance at a HH and it adds the most juice out of the available mods without overlapping with scarab usage (namely Legion, Breach and Harby)
    7. Terror Ivory Watchstone, not actual juice as far as Delirium is concerned, however the +1 means that cluster jewels drop at ilvl 84 and numerous other bases drop at 86. I profited 4ex selling ilvl 86 rare bases and 2x ilvl 84 Aura cluster jewels over the cost of the watchstones, however this gamble probably is not worth it if you are not willing to pick up two toned/opal rings/fingerless silk and do smaller trades to sell them.

Prophecies were not used due to their inconsistencies and also because personally I do not enjoy micro-managing them when mapping. During the 150 map test, I decided to run only Promenade, as not only was this map very easy to Horizon Orb into from other T16s, but it is also one of the best maps for splinter drop rates as of 3.11. In my experience, the best maps usually range between 60-100 splinters (if you farm these alot on the same map, you will notice high variance even if your juice and performance is identical), Promenade's lowest yield was 73 and highest yield was a whopping 151 splinters from a single map, the highest I know of ever having dropped from a single map. (I have heard claims of 163 but haven't even see a screenshot of this)

Here are some screenshots from the runs: 151, 123, 113 Splinters

Pictured Here is 220 of the 250 maps, as they were prepared prior to the runs.

Lastly, it's worth noting that for these tests I dedicated my garden entirely to Delirium. I uprooted most storage and had 9 collectors of each type, although this proved unsustainable and I downgraded to 5 of each, this number seemed to be enough to still hit 7/5/3/1 rewards without forcing me to buy seeds. The 151 splinter drop occurred during a 15 garden run, not the earlier 27 garden runs.

    Data:

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/18P6LgYyvsfQwaaI-giFcH_ulr13GwkhDLb9UZxCptEw/edit?usp=sharing

The TL;DR of the data, is that Juiced Promenades yielded 1 Simulacrum roughly every 24 maps, whereas running random maps without juice or a focus on the garden yielded 1 Simulacrum roughly every 170 maps. Whilst juicing maps roughly more than doubled the frequency of mirror spawns, the juice itself and the map choice were also large factors as far as splinter drop rates were concerned.

I encountered delirium mirrors once every 8.6 juiced maps and once every 19.2 unjuiced maps and splinter drop rates were approximately tripled in juiced Promenades vs unjuiced random maps. In other words, juicing your map seems to give roughly 7x as many splinters overall, and this is for a build capable of consistently full clearing a map.

    Conclusions:

Juicing your maps cheaply with the intention of driving up Delirium rewards is most definitely worth while. I got 433 Red maps back from 250 during the juiced test, even after removing all those maps AND div cards from my quad tabs, Exilence still priced these tabs at 7400c total (roughly 53 ex), this included 12 raw exalts, 13 ancient orbs, 8 simulacrums and numerous other things. I also sold all my excess T2 seeds for a few ex.

Personally I think map type influences Delirium reward outcomes too heavily, I did some non-recorded testing of Pen to find fully juiced Pens yield approx 30 splinters which imo is way too low. I'd like to see rewards normalized across maps, the logarithmic reward scaling helps to keep HH builds in check a great deal but I feel that there is something wrong when Promenade gives you half a simulacrum in one go and Pen requires 10 maps under the exact same conditions. Introducing Delirium as a Zana Mod next league (as is recent tradition) would be a huge mistake without nerfs. As much as I love the delirium mechanic more than anything else in the game, even if were priced at 20c, being able to run 2-3 maps and then in return receive up to 20 simulacrum waves worth of rewards is going to be even worse for the trade economy than 5 Orb Maps currently are proving to be.

Finally, I wanted to give a shout out to Grimro, he's currently engaging in more or less the exact same test and will probably be putting a video out on it that anyone reading this should go watch when it comes out. At the least, I hope this initial data set informs the playerbase better with regards to interacting with Delirium efficiently, I won't make a judgment as to whether the mirrors are too rare or not, but after compiling this data, I no longer think a straight buff is the answer either.

TL;DR: Juicing maps is still worth it, especially so for farming Delirium rewards.

I've Started Rage Quitting PoE And I Want To Share Why (4.8k Hours Played)

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 07:49 PM PDT

With many hours played, I have only recently, in the last couple of leagues, started rage quitting.

The reason, as you might expect, is dying.

I play softcore, so realistically, dying isn't THAT big of a deal. You respawn in town, you lose a bit of XP, you have to use a portal, you have to run back to wherever you were in the map to continue.

But I find myself just quitting out in anger because of the following reason :

With 4.8k hours played, I STILL cannot confidently identify what is killing me.

When I go from full HP to dead in a split second, it's very frustrating. But maybe, I could WORK TOWARD something to avoid that happening in the future? But the question is : what am I LACKING in my build? Or more specifically, what am I weak against that I need to look out for?

Am I too susceptible to crits? Am I taking large amounts of physical, or elemental damage? Am I dying fast to extremely strong DoTs?

This has been asked for in the past and I am sure it's a programming challenge, but honestly, the bottom line is this : If I knew what specifically killed me (ie the type of damage, the amount, if it was a crit, if it was a spell or a physical attack etc) I could think to myself "Well, I need to build more physical resistance" or "I need to counteract DoT damage". I could create a goal for my build to work toward.

Right now, I walk into a room, I blow up and I rage quit. You might say "build more defense". That's exactly my point though : WHAT DEFENSE SPECIFICALLY SHOULD I IMPROVE? I have no idea where my weaknesses ARE because I DON'T KNOW WHAT DAMAGE I AM TAKING MORE OF THAN OTHER DAMAGE.

Maybe I'm virtually immune to phyiscal damage, but spells are the problem? Maybe it's damage over time that's deleting me, but I just don't know it? Maybe it's a sleeper map mod that I am ignoring and it's killing me.

Anyway, GGG, that is why a longtime player is playing less and less. I am getting super frustrated by dying, not because I want the game to be easy, but because I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IS DELETING ME SO QUICKLY.

TL;DR : Put in some kind of indicator of the type of damage being dealt to you when you die to help you figure out what type of defenses you are lacking.

UPDATE: My biggest post ever on Reddit, I appreciate the discussion and just wanted to put in one last thought that I wanted to share :

Why is it so damn easy to get millions of DPS and trivialize bosses/content, but so damn hard to just be immortal? As many have pointed out, you can have ridiculous, ridiculous defenses and STILL be one shot, yet people are deleting bosses in shapers per second?

What i like about PoE versus other ARPG's is there isn't really 'infinite' scaling content (outside of Delve). You get super powerful : you get to steamroll the game. I can't see a reason why, given enough time, gear and dedication, ANY BUILD could just get to the point where it 'beats' the game and you almost NEVER die.

    Anyway, cheers guys.

Hey hey Exiles, my friend got really lucky this league and yolo'ed his 4 House of mirrors into 9. He quitted the league and now asked if I wanted to keep it. Since I also quitted the league I asked if he wanted some reddit karma but he doesn't even have a reddit account so I guess I'll take it off his hands. I'll be using reddit's random sorting algorithm to choose the winner in 48h (12PM 29/7 - GMT +7).

As a side note, can you guys give us a comment on your favourite build this league and what are the pros and cons of it, we might need build ideas for next league, lol.

P/S: I'll disqualify anyone who comments multiple times.

    Good luck exiles.

    Chaos Counter

    Chaos Counter

    Hi there!

I have been working on a tool to help you keep track of your trades. By taking a screenshot and using computer vision to interpret the items in the trade window, the program sums up all detected currency next to your trade window. Full stacks are marked green, other stack sizes yellow, red indicates not included currency (sorry Portal Scrolls) or otherwise unsupported items.

    How it works

Due to the fact that it is using highly optimized libraries and benefits from more than one CPU core, it runs fast unless you spam "Ctrl-E" all the time. I hope that this tool does not violate any of the terms and conditions of Path of Exile, but if I understood correctly, it should be fine since at no time data from PoE is used. (You can run the program outside of PoE, just don't expect any reasonable results)

You can find the very early release here: https://github.com/FTrygg/ChaosCounter

Right now only 1080p with Windowed Fullscreen mode is supported. Please note, that if you have colour correction or similar running on your computer, the program might get confused as well.

Currently, I need help to improve my tool, as I am too bad of a player to have stacks of all the currency in the game. More details can be found on the GitHub page.

I will try to keep this updated and fix as many issues as possible, but please be aware that I am a student doing this in his free time.

Finally, I am also a long time lurker, first time poster, so sorry in advance if I messed something up, I did not do it intentionally.

TL;DR Made a tool that counts trade items for you, without accessing memory. Feedback and help appreciated :)

Update: Apparently the majority thinks it is crucial to see the code. Likely I was biased because I am the one uploading it. I am working on making it available right now. You can see the full code on github now and create an executable yourself.
