How to set up a perfectly legal currency farming bot using self-farmed seeds

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 02:39 AM PDT

    1. Aquire a like-minded girlfriend (if you are having trouble at this step, skip to 6)
    2. Explain your plan to her and get her consent.
    3. Plant your seeds in her Garden using any approach you prefer. Remember that Fun > Efficiency. There is a lot of trial and error in this step, but don't get discouraged.
    4. If successful, wait approximately 9 months for your seeds to grow and harvest them. Harvesting this particular seed requires some finesse so I recommend consulting a professional. These 9 months are not impacted by Harvest league ending.
    5. Nurture your newly harvested bot-ling with love (and potentially also food) until it grows to the level of sofistication your build requires. At least 4-5 years to avoid frustration with step 9.
    6. Alternatively, most countries allow purchase of pre-grown bot-lings if you meet certain conditions. If you are struggling with steps 1-3, consider this faster but less fun alternative.
    7. Create a build that will be unkillable in Blood Aqueducts - stack Regen, Life/ES on Block, etc. The less buttons your build requires, the better. I recommend starting with something like Righteous Fire.
    8. Set up a specific filter that only shows Currency (the bot will not be efficient in stashing/selling anything else).
    9. Put your bot in Standby and run through the zone several times, making sure to illustrate picking up items and creating new zones (this is where a lot of bots fail).
    10. If done correctly, your bot will come preconfigured with machine learning algorithms and become more efficient as it learns the farming route.
    11. Watch the bot farm for a bit and tweak it for maximum efficiency.
    12. Profit!

To avoid any GGG suspicion and to avoid damage to the bot, only run your bot for short periods of time each day.

The Racing Gauntlet Begins Tomorrow! $15500 Pool

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 07:48 AM PDT

    Hey Everyone!

Racing Gauntlet begins tomorrow at 3:00PM BST (10:00 AM EST) Countdown: https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/gaming?iso=20200822T10&p0=179&msg=SSFHC+Points+Event&font=serif

You can find full information here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wGc9g090-QVxSwf94gEL3Mx8BDQ7l4U27PCLKRwljuk/edit?usp=sharing

Essentially the event is a race for points that you obtain from leveling and from boss kills. The top 20 players will receive a portion of the prize pool or MTX supplied by GGG. The league has every damage mod you can have on Private Leagues and is HCSSF Harvest.

The community has come together to crowdfund the private league AND the prize pool. So far we have eclipsed $15500, you can see the prize pool here: https://www.paypal.com/pools/c/8rlGnvr3rZ

Originally when talking with Viyro we had the expectation that we'd raise something like $5000, some-how the community came together and donated over $15500. This is absolutely insane and I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who donated and the community for making all of this happen. I'm completely at a loss for words from the support from the community and community streamers.

I hope everyone tunes in tomorrow to watch the race unfold on Twitch. There are quite a few people participating like Alkaizerx, Mathil, RaizQT , Ventrua, Nugiyen, Ds Lily, Datmodz, Steelmage, Guccipradas, Karvarousku many other community streamers and tons of racers who will not be streaming as well! You can view standings on https://poe-racing.com/ the entire time of the event including who has killed which boss for points!

Don't forget to check out ZiggyD's Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/ZiggyDGaming where he will be doing News Recaps on the event alongside Brittleknee (https://www.twitch.tv/brittleknee)

We now have a pretty massive Racing Discord people can join here: https://discord.gg/z6HxsPa there are tons of very helpful people helping people get better at POE if that is your thing, there are also tons of practice leagues etc as well as a way to become a "Qualified Racer". So far the Discord has gone from 600 or so members to over 3000 with this Event. I plan on doing many more events with Viyro in the future and hope you guys join in on the fun <3.

The private league itself was crowdfunded in under 24 hours and the league filled within 30 minutes of it being public for people to join. I know the 2000 player cap sucks but hopefully that can be remedied in the future. Good luck to everyone participating and I hope you guys enjoy watching <3.

A different kind of Harvest discussion

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 09:57 AM PDT

Last year, Chris Wilson presented a talk at GDC about Designing Path of Exile to be Played Forever. I'd love to talk to people about it because the whole thing is very relevant to most aspects of PoE discussions. However, it's an hour long so I'm going to steal some points from it and use them to hopefully start a discussion beyond harvest good/bad/in/out.

PvE games tend to not grow their playerbase because they are usually solvable. Beat it once and most of the magic is gone, something they learned by playing other arpg games themselves. Ladder resets in D2 always had players flocking back, but never as many as there were before. Early PoE leagues were trial and error on almost anything they could control, size of release, duration, teasers, and more. Eventually, they settled on large expansions coupled with consistent leagues. This is best covered in minutes ~7:25-18 of the talk, alternatively this TLDW of the lessons. And yes, he admits Krip taught him that last lesson (minutes 18-20).

It took years before the league system shook out and we ended up with the hype train every three months. In hindsight, it's an obvious solution but at the time, it wasn't clear.

One word Chris Wilson keeps using around items is weight(minutes 4:40-7:20) and Harvest does mess with items' perceived weight. Harvest is great at letting you create more items to lord over your friends or to inspire them to get their own. Harvest lets everyone go on a crafting journey for every item if they want to, and its wonderful. It doesn't fit right now though. Harvest crafting makes the path to complete gear clear at the cost of most gear in between. Loot clutter feels even more worthless as most gear from the ground is improved within a few chaos rolls in the garden. At roughly 28:45 in the talk, Chris shows a list of criteria that is supposed to be met each league. Notably, item rewards is on that list. To me, harvest bungled item rewards and crafting by making them the same thing. If you want a solution, I don't have that. I can only point to the other crafting in leagues as evidence that crafting balance is difficult. Synthesis saw its crafting as too gated, delve was too powerful, betrayal was too drawn out, and harvest amplifies the existing issues around loot and crafting as a whole. Personally, I want more Harvest, but there are other problems that need to be fixed alongside it for crafting that powerful to stick around.

I expect Harvest pushed the envelope past the expectations of GGG and so any plans or ideas for it need to be revisited.Anyone remember delve league and GGG's guess that 3k was the limit?

Path of Exile is an evolving game, let's talk.

*Edit to clarify: Let's talk less about harvest as a league, and more about it as an exploratory test of extreme determinism in crafting that will be learned from.

TLDR/W: IF NOTHING ELSE PLEASE WATCH THREE MINUTES FROM THIS TIMESTAMP. These ideas are what PoE is founded on. Harvest is intentionally imbalanced to help know where too far is. Items are meant to be special, and deterministic crafting in this form and quantity removes a lot of their specialty. As they learned how to properly set up leagues through things like onslaught, torment, and darkshrine, now Harvest is being used to gauge crafting.

    Stay sane exiles.

    A Newb's 222 Hour Retrospective

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 08:09 AM PDT

Steam shows I've played POE for a little over 222 hours now. I started right around when Harvest launched, and I thought it might be fun to take a little walk down memory lane, sharing my thoughts and experiences.

After all is said and done, my overarching though is that Poe is brutal! Not so much the game mechanics (although 5 flask and 10 potential spells is a lot to micromanage), but the actual game concepts. In pretty much any other game I've played, the longer you play, the better your character gets. RPGs especially. POE is the exact opposite, where you can actually make your character worse and worse. Which i did. Several times.

I started on standard league because I had no idea what "leagues" were and didn't want to be ranked and lose progress afterwards. I just assumed leagues were ranked/timed/etc. There should definitely be a popup saying "League's are new content, and you'll get to keep everything on your account when the league is over, and it's not even ranked, etc!"

Anywho, I jump into standard and start playing a Marauder. Things are fun, I'm exploring every nook and cranny, whacking things with my club, getting tons of loot. The skill tree is huge, so I just pick good/interesting looking nodes on the way, assuming respec would be easy later on... By level 14 I'm not doing any damage and keep getting killed. Ut oh! After some googling, I learn that I did everything wrong. No easy respecs, ALL early gear sucks, you need the right spells to level, etc.

Oh ok, no problem! I see I need to follow a guide. Off I go with a new ranger. I try harder not to pick stuff up and explore less, but it's still pretty hard not to check out all this stuff that keeps dropping in front of me! Leveling is easier, but I'm still not grasping much of "what will make this easier for me", mostly just sticking the the guide and hoping it works... Which it doesn't. Turns out it was a little older, and not necessarily a "league starter", so I was having a hard time getting past level 40.

Ah, so I need more research! Read some more, look at more guides, try a few new characters. I end up with six characters in standard, none of them getting above level 45 (I think I killed Kitava the first with one of them and that's as far as I got).

By this time I've read quite a few guides, watched a lot of videos. I see summoners are hot! Finally realize it's ok to be in Harvest league and people are getting insane gear. Jump in with a summoner and boom! I actually make it to maps! WoohoO!!!#@! But I keep dying... Can't seem to level up, all the gear in the guide is way to expensive, I have no money... Oh but specter summoners are even better! Maybe that's the problem! I'm pretty good at leveling now. Barely picking up anything, just trying to zoom through. get to level 43, realize specters cost a ton to speck out as well, *facepalm*.

I see a video of Zizaran leveling a summoner with arc and spell slinger as a league starter. Get pumped and try it out. The smoothest leveling experience I've had so far! Arc is just melting faces, and it's a lot of fun! Make it to maps, make it to level 71, BAM, hit another wall. Apparently I suck at transitioning to maps... I keep dying super fast, so I can't level. I WANT HEALTH! Try a spicy Marauder bladestorm build i saw wrecking things in blood aqueduct. Get to level 65 easy enough, but my damage isn't there. Go look at that guys gear, it's 50ex+ *facepalm*.

I'm finally starting to understand the core mechanics of health, res, damage, gear, etc. Go ham with a Heirophant totem build because I wanted arc totem madness and survivability. Arc everything in the face and get to level 85! But i seem to hit another wall. Damage is starting to wane, and I'm feeling less tanky. Blarg. In hindsight I can probably convert this guy to a ball lightning totem setup and still do decent, but the build just started feeling so slowwwwww.

I wanna go fast! Time for a cast on crit assassin! Yes fast, yes fun, yes expensive. Mostly know what I'm doing now. Still haven't crafted a single good thing from Harvest. When leveling everything I just kept trying to get to maps so I could farm "the good stuff". Currently level 64 on my assassin, and I'm going to try to stick him out until league end, don't think I can level another character :) I really hope I can make it farther into endgame and farm some harvest stuff. I love the idea of crafting something awesome, but fear I won't have enough time.

So in the end I have 6 characters in standard, highest level is 45. 8 Characters in Harvest, 5 of which I got to Oriath, with my Heirophant being the highest at 85. I've also spent tens of hours reading and watching videos so I can stop dying and map it up. Not to mention all the crafting, league mechanics, gardening setup, delve guides, metamorph guides, etc. that I've read through.

If you've made it this far and you're new to this game, keep this in mind: It's okay to start over, don't pick up a lot of stuff, and find a really popular "league starter" build guide. I would highly recommend a totem heirophant build because it's super safe, but you do you.

Oh yeah, I also scraped together 20 bucks for some stash tabs, and that was like a drop in the ocean. I thought, hey I have a little space, so I can try to save and sell some good stuff! Because who doesn't want to keep price checking and changing options and leaving a level to sell only to have it be a bot, or the person already bought it from someone else because you didn't respond in 2 seconds, all for an orb of alchemy, ahhhhhhh....

Anywho, here's to making it past mid-tier maps! If you want to throw some currency or equipment or tabs my way to help out I'll give you a big fat digital hug! I could really use a cinderswallow flask :) Thanks for reading this way-to-long post, have fun out there exile!

Harvest further exposed an outdated game mechanic---> Sextants

    Posted: 20 Aug 2020 09:06 PM PDT

For the purpose of this discussion I hope you are aware of "the" farming method of the league with fracture fossiling maps with a fractured beyond mod, 5x deli orbs, 35% quant from betrayal AND the biggest thing, the harvest craft "sextant mods are not consumed"

The last thing is imho what really broke it. Removing the consumption of sextants literally gave you double beyond 100% of the time and it should be a given how powerful this was and how much better this method was simply because of the fact you would not have to invest a fuckton for good sextant mods. I don't wanna claim that copying the maps with 1 fractured beyond mod wouldnt have been just good enough, but this singel craft gives SO much value long term it is mindbogglig honestly.

I did it a bit myself until I was sick and tired of deli every map (the all grey really gets on my nerfes after a while) and I could see the appeal, but if anything literally my biggest thought was "jeez thats some qol to not care about sextants".

For normal mapping it feels tedious and still neccesary because lets be real, some maps are literally empty without. I don't think the concept of sextants is really fitting for an ARPG. I ofc get the idea of juicing maps, but maps should not be so empty without. I honestly believe ALOT of the playerbases does not grasp how crucial and big as a core gameplay element sextants truly are and I believe it should not be case to this extend. I mean look at Port. Arguably one of the best maps when you go full juice, utter empty trash that takes way to long traveling through as is.

Having to reapply them every 3 maps feels just tedious, but okay. Having the map density literally be balanced around the fact they exist seems ...a bit much. Imho they should be way more rare, keep on for liek..10 maps and just focus on empowering other stuff you do with scarabs/zana/prohecy. Dont make me spam sextants just to have monster in my maps.

If they wanna keep the system as is, then pls for the love of god, dont give any way to make the best sextant mods useable infinite amount of times because that is straight up broken.

    POE wrist injury

    I'm after some advice.

I have injured my wrist after a big POE session last weekend.

What preventative action do other players take to ensure they don't hurt them self's while playing this game. I have reluctantly stopped playing the league until I get some strength back.

I feel like an idiot and maybe I'm starting to show my age a little bit now (I'm only 29)

How to use up "remove non-x add-x"

    Posted: 21 Aug 2020 07:16 AM PDT

How to use up "remove non-x add-x"

Theses crafts are actually quite useful, Heres one example.

    1. Grab a i86 hunter stygian Vise ( works with other items, but we'll use this for example )
    2. Craft your prefix's, I like to use weta seeds multiple life mods until I hit T1 Flat and % life, If you hit T1 of just one, you can remove non life add life to attempt to add another T1. If you hit double T1 life rolls and another bad life prefix, you can beast craft remove prefix add suffix.

Now heres where using many of your other remove non-x add-x come in.

    1. Hunter belts have no lightning, cold, caster, or fire prefix's. So if your belt has 6 mods ( IT MUST HAVE 6 MODS, otherwise it could remove a prefix) lets say, fire resistance, cold resistance and a caster mod, you can remove non light add light for a new lightning resistance suffix.

    2. lets say you removed the caster mod, now you can remove non caster add caster etc. You can continue this process of use remove-non x add x of the missing mod until you hit a desirable mod or 2 ( preferably a T1 resistance )

I know this method is fairly known already, just another useful example.

Made this belt almost entirely with cheap crafts, + 1 aug, 1 add remove phys, 1 aug crit. ~3.5 ex cost including base. They are ~11-30 ex on Trade site.
