MS Paint Megathread + Patch 3.6 Compiled Information Thread

    Posted: 01 Mar 2019 02:33 PM PST

Reddit only allows us two stickies, so this is now two threads in one! Please post your MSPaint builds as comments here — new threads made for them will be removed and redirected to this thread. The compiled 3.6 info below is also still being updated, and I'll keep updating it until we know everything.

    Reworked/Updated Skill & Support Gems

    • Storm Barrier Support (teased in the announcement page but no details yet)

    New Divination Cards

    Passive Tree Changes

    Fractured Items

    • Fractured items are a new type of item with mods that are locked in place. These mods cannot be changed by crafting. For an example, see here. They also look pretty cool.

    • At this time the assumption is that fractured mods will just be drawn from the same mod pool as normal mods. As such, I'm not going to list all the fractured mods we've seen.

    • Fractured items can have up to three fixed mods

    Synthesised Items

Three fractured items can be combined to create a synthesised item, which has a new implicit mod (and also looks pretty cool). Apparently we will be able to control what mods the item has by synthesising the correct fractured items, though we will have to figure out how on our own. Here is a list of the new synthesised implicits we've seen.

    Chris Wilson Baeclast Summary

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 01:29 AM PST

    -Random notes

Nugi asks the longest and most confusing questions ever

Blessed orbs will reroll synthesis implicits

Chris worried about synthesis being too complicated for the community(The nets are eating my alchemy orbs)

Bullshit talking about how the marketing is working(asking if they do a good job explaining the league mechanic)

Chris also noted that we are getting a new kind of stash tab made for collectors in the upcoming week.

Confirmed atlas shuffling will be a every league thing

Private leagues will get more mods etc in the future. Stuff like a durability system

Changes how forums work to allow X-box and Playstation to see them selves in forums, and more importantly, allow forums to work when servers go down.

    -sythensis mechanic

10 puzzle pieces in inventory, up to 25 placed

    stacking global modifiers in chains

sounds like you can branch out all over the place and collect rewards(maybe boss fights) while also stacking long chains with good modifiers

have to activate the piece at least once to "lock" it in

have to avoid the "blue wall" at all costs, may be lethal but could also TP you out of the instance

40% of the size of a map each puzzle piece

"interesting" story driven content inside the synthesis mechanic? (including bosses)

Puzzle pieces are based off of lvl of the zone you find it in. (maps are the monster level of the map) subject to change

Bosses in Synthesis will be less gated by RNG like delve. They'll only spawn in highish tier maps at a decent rate. Downside to having bosses more common means some of them may not drop guaranteed uniques

    -synthesis side map zones

designed to be completed by anyone, but more connections on the piece means more difficult

have to complete tasks to unlock extra connections???(not sure)

-where does GGG value a dropped item vs a crafted item?

we want to make people pick up rare items

crafting is valuable and will always create the most powerful items

Chris hates that there are so many items on the ground

Can't really change it at this point

Trade makes it too easy to get the best items

    -Nugi asks about power creep!!!!

Chris explains that it is all a process to get all the combinations of power creep on an item, makes it harder and rarer to obtain

Trying to make the power creep interesting and more like making choices rather than one playstyle being the best

    -Melee questions

    3.7 is melee patch

chris doesnt know if any melee changes are in synthesis patch

explains how the community tries to shift the focus of what they want all the time(complaints change, GGG cant fix it before it gets foregotten)

Can't make huge sweeping changes or the game will just disintegrate(slower clear speed, less item drops, etc)

In order to fix some skills they have to be completley reworked (3.7 could be a lot of melee reworks) reworks take more testing(blahblahblah)

    -Archetypes

    Straight forward, easy to play

started a few leagues ago, never advertised

I see these as being the new "build of the week"(more like build of the league)

New skills are always designed to be good(they dont want to have to rework a skill immeditaley) Dont want "noob trap" skills

Holy & Chaos, Cold DoT stuff etc are 1: A marketing tool and 2: a way to advertise to players builds they can choose to play and be relatively strong

-Whats spells are you most excited about?

excited about not having build guides to rely on becuase all the skills are new again

just wants variety(Tornado shot here we come)

    -Any movement skills changes?

No changes to "movement" skills that chris is aware of

He doesnt think "movement" skills are wrecking the game but htey are keeping an eye on it

They are always working on new movement skills, they dont always work

-Will you turn off old league mechanics?

Chris doesnt think they need to retire anythign at this point

They could decide to turn any league off at any point they feel it is necassary

They want leagues mechanics to stick around but they dont always fit correctly(can always come back and add it back in later, beastiary)

Don't really talk about it before the league if it will stay, they decide near the end

-League specific items??? (So many ways to get them now)

Reward creep, same idea as power creep (it's all a balance)

compares it to reliquary keys and why they dont include them in every league

    -Exilecon

    ~1500 people

    $200ish tickets

VIP tickets for developer dinners and other things

Going to be streamed for free

    Single MTX for live attendees

    4.0.0 & 3.9.0(December Expansion) Announcements

-thoughts on larger actions bars? more skill slots?

they'd like to add more but havent had the time

    -fossil stacking?

its on the list of things to do

-balance manifest on tuesday about aoe????

    -lab enchants

they don't want to kill lab farming, can't make enchants too easy to get

possibly add enchants for different gear slots?

potentially add an item to "move" the enchant to an item you want

    -unique rebalancing?

    just small rebalancing

waiting to see what happens with the new skill rebalances

Delve early progression should be a lot faster

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 02:28 AM PST

I will start by saying - perhaps this will be addressed in Synthesis patch, but perhaps not, so while there is some time left to make some tweaks I wanted to discuss this early progression.

Delve is really cool piece of content but the main problem with it is that it lags heavily behind in content level compared to your character progression.

Lets focus on average player type who plays a build to ~lvl 90 and then rolls a new build, because let's be frank, only very small chunk of people push towards the 100 - thus I will use that average player archetype for this comparison.

So basically - you play your first league character and by the time you are lvl 90 and you probably pushed into red map teritory, the delve is only like mlvl (mob level) 73 or so (T5 equivalent). You roll a second character - and progression on 2nd one is even faster because you have map pool already, by the time you hit 90 with this one - you probably are into killing Shaper/uber elder teritory (so end-game map content) but in delve it will be smth like mlvl 76-77 (Tier 8-9 map) so you are still far from end-game delve pushing.

So basically early progression is way too slow and feels like a very long grind thru boring content that feels way too easy for your character for way too long.

I understand the part of top reward gating, but that starts at depths equivalent to mlvl 80+ (so T12+ territory). It's totally fine to be slower on more time consuming past that point.

I think delve should have a lot faster progression till you reach T10 level of content, so mob level 78. In matter of fact - this is the only piece of content that lags so much with mob level compared to your character progression and level of other pieces of content - which imho doesn't feel neither fun or right.

We don't know if it's being addressed or not, but I guess it should and I think now it's time to worry, not when the league starts.

Sneak peek at the collectors tab

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 02:37 AM PST

    Such an amazing, helpful community.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 11:10 AM PST

I just came here to say how insanely helpful the path of exile community has been on my first night playing.

I've been meaning to give it a try, so last night I streamed the game with a title that said I was new. And right away I had people giving me pointer, tips for addons, and near the end of stream someone actually traded me a ton of items that will actually last me through endgame. I was so grateful, and just blown back by the community. It's hard to find any games anymore that aren't saturated with toxic players.

Buy supporter pack with massive hideout, get half way though decorating before getting trolled by GGG.

So that's how I play Hc mode.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2019 11:02 PM PST

Now that the league is almost over, I must say that there was sooooo much effort put into the voices from the syndicate this league.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2019 07:35 PM PST

Today, I actually noticed how many lines each syndicate member has for almost every specific situation (for instance, I have never even heard the quote "Course ye need me help ya meatheaded wanker." before!). This actually got me to look into how many voice lines there actually are for Betrayal, and damn... GGG has done such a great job with this!

How Poe helped me out and how Haku was there for me when I needed it.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2019 01:34 AM PST

    Hi,

I'm feeling a bit uneasy writing this as it is something a bit personal that I haven't shared yet with anyone, and I feel it might sound ridiculous.

A few years back, I dropped out of college. I had no idea what to do with my life, and felt I couldn't achieve anything.

I realized that having a dual citizenship, I could move away from the shame and pressure I felt at the time. Not only in another country, but another continent. So I did. And lo and behold, I pictured it as a self-inflicted Exile.

After a few month of small jobs (construction, security, you name it), and making no new friend in a country in which I was alone, a friend from back home told me about Path of Exile. All I could think was «Eh, how fitting!», and so I dived into it in the middle of Perandus league. And when I say dived, it was my only activity beside work and sleep for the next 8 months. I even took a 2 months break in between two jobs during which I was playing 10 to 12h a day (rookie numbers, I know), eating once a day, and just going from maps to maps, not trying to git gud or get rich or anything, that was a pure dive into Wraeclast just going builds after builds after builds.

Fast forward to the point I recognized that I was going nowhere in my life and decided to get back home; I got back to motherland (not Russia), and moved back to my parents place for a while ( you can imagine what it's like to do that after taking care of yourself and being financially independent for a year) where I stayed unemployed for 5 months. All the while, PoE. Found a unpaid internship in a big company that was looking for a «Fresh look, unburdened by college education» on a project, which gave me excellent references instead of a job. During that time, I had gotten back with my girlfriend and stayed at her place as much as I could, feeling like a squatter. All the while, PoE is still on the background.

A week after my internship, I applied to an engineer position in a cool small company and was taken on the spot (at that point it was a pure wtf moment for me, I didn't even expect an answer when I applied) .

Stayed at gf place for a few weeks and then got my own place

And then it happened. From the start of college to this point, I had felt like an useless shit unable to achieve anything, but that day, I was at my place, steady in my new job, in a happy relationship and I logged to Standard to see I could level Haku to lvl8. So I did. And the speech he gave upon reaching level 8 is as follow:

Tukohama has blessed you, warrior, made you his brother in blood and spirit. I can see it now in your eyes, your stature, your presence.

I would carve into your visage the marks of Blood, the greatest honour the Karui can bestow. For you, the path of the warrior has come to an end.

The time has come for you to lead, to forge a new path, so that all that come after may learn and prosper from your example.

It as as that moment I felt all the relief I should have felt gradually; I was doing ok, I didn't need to struggle to stay alive anymore. I can't express exactly how I felt other than redirecting you to that «It's finally over» meme of Frodo.

Anyway, my point is: I'm really glad GGG put a Hipster haircut to new Haku because I was afraid I'd feel guilty killing him after the story I told you. But with that haircut, I really don't.

    Stay sane Exile
