    BV Bladeblast is ridiculously weak

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 11:18 AM PDT

Bladefall creates 5 lingering blades by default, and it can be supported by Spell Cascade to create 15 (with Awakened gem, 25) blades. Even with penalty for Triggering, it's 7 (12) blades per cast. Blade Vortex creates one blade, has a cap of 10 blades and has no options to boost that number that Bladefall does not also have.

At the moment, BV interaction with Bladeblast and Animate Weapon is a pointless and sometimes annoying gimmick. It requires a significant buff, or removal from the game.

Yet the second you go AFK to poop or even grab some water. You get a ton of whispers. Then you come back and no one hits you up again.

Request Feedback for a WIP website to find the most profitable/less expensive option in a given situation (e.g. Apex of Ascension, Divination for jewel challenge)

Request Feedback for a WIP website to find the most profitable/less expensive option in a given situation (e.g. Apex of Ascension, Divination for jewel challenge)

    Hello,

During this league, I found myself regularly checking what was the most profitable option for the apex of ascension and it was pretty tedious. Also, the less expensive option of some challenge is subject to change when a guide is released and everyone follows it.

The website I'm currently developing aims at fetching prices regularly (every 10 min atm) from poe.ninja and constantly update the prices/profit of different recipes (check the screenshot below).

An example of the table for fated item upgrade

You can temporarily access a development version of this website at this address: http://37.187.121.37:3000/challenge

Do you think this website could be useful? If nobody intends to use it or if there is a better alternative there's no reason for me to develop it further and buy a domain name and a dedicated server for it.

Assuming you find it useful/promising, do you have any features you would like to be added? I plan on adding as many recipes as possible, it will just take some time, I'll prioritize according to your requests.

Thank you for any feedback you could provide.

    GL & HF exile.

TL/DR: New website in development, temporarily accessible here: http://37.187.121.37:3000/challenge, check it and send feedback. Ty.

Harvest is my favourite league ever

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 11:37 AM PDT

I've been playing PoE since Beyond, and Harvest gave me the best experience of any league since then. For context, I usually get at least one character to mid-90s, clear all major league content, and accumulate somewhere between 20 to 50ex net worth.

This is the first time I've been able to experience getting truly GG gear, and the best part was that I made it all myself. I didn't even buy or sell harvest crafts, I just played the game (sometimes target farming seeds), and made my items as the crafts became available. It's also the first time I got a level 100 character, and 40/40 challenges to boot. My net worth is also much higher than usual, probably around 400 or 500ex. All of this came off the back of Harvest's fantastic deterministic crafting mechanics. ...And perhaps some extra gaming time in quarantine.

To be frank, I don't know if I'll even want to play next league if harvest crafting isn't included in some form. It just feels so rewarding to plan out a complex crafting plan for an item that's perfect for my build, and then build it out while playing the rest of the game. That's a much better experience than farming currency and buying the item I want. Crafting items is SO MUCH FUN, and previously it just wasn't viable for any players below the top 0.001% to do a lot of your own major crafting projects. The way the PoE economy tends to progress over the course of a league typically made it even worse, since as the bleeding edge players upgraded items and sold their old gear, or found a niche and mass crafted something, buying those items became a more economical choice over crafting them yourself.

That said, Harvest certainly does have its flaws. None of what I mention here is going to be some new insight that hasn't already been discussed, but I want to include it anyways to paint a fair picture of the league. The actual gardening mechanic was not great. Setting up a garden was a pain in the ass. Lifeforce storage was horrendous. Managing and planting seeds is annoying. Worst of all, the mechanic implicitly encouraged people to buy and sell crafts (which as I mentioned earlier, I stayed away from, very intentionally). Trading crafts relied upon 3rd party sites, getting started early to build up vouches, and opened up buyers and sellers alike to scams.

Another problem is how easy it is to get incredibly rare mods like explode chests. I think it was OK for this league and actually pretty cool that these things became accessible to the average player. However, if we want this mechanic to go core, I believe it would be better to find a solution to all those cases where a single aug can guarantee you a historically extremely valuable and rare mod, like elusive / tailwind on boots. I'd still like it to be possible to target craft those sorts of things, but they certainly shouldn't be easier and cheaper to get than something like T1 life or mana. Speaking of mana, I played a mana based character and nearly all of my crafts were about figuring out how to get high tiers of one or more mana type stats, while also being able to plant craft on all the other typical stuff a good item has. I believe this was a good thing, because it's much less interesting if you can easily target craft every affix on your item.

Despite all the issues I've talked about, Harvest still allowed me to experience PoE crafting at a significant scale for the first time ever, and it was a truly fantastic experience. Here's to hoping the crafting goes core in some form, or at least shows up again in PoE 2! And thanks to GGG for a great league!

Vivid T4 is pretty bullshit encounter tbh

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 04:01 AM PDT

I was doing vivid boss seeds and kept dying because the ground effect it spawns under you slows you AND disables your movement abilities. AKA you can't leap slam/dash to dodge and are an open target.
This is so random and feels so unintuitive. There's nothing in the game like this, maybe old vaal rain of arrows from canyon boss, but that was telegraphed.
One thing is to have debuffs or obstacles that invalidate certain abilities, like slows, obstacles or lab traps, another is to simply disable your ability without any warning or windup. I really hope we won't see more of such things.

    EDIT:
tone of my post might've diverted attention from disliking the concept of disabling your abilities to me venting over a death? It's just there to give context to my initial experience with the mechanic. This move doesn't jive well with one's expectation of PoE mechanics and especially doesn't fit with how garden fights are set up. Everything about harvest incentivizes you to fill gardens, higher tier seeds also need adjacent high tier seeds, it only feels natural to set up a full garden. If fought standalone, this move is an annoying novelty, but with adds it is epitome of bullshit.
