As a longtime player new to the conqueror's endgame, fighting Sirus is by far the most demoralizing experience I've had ingame.

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 07:56 PM PDT

I have a little under 2k hours spent playing since ambush league, and have completed almost every singular challenge endgame has had to offer over the years. I didn't play the last two leagues, but I am now hundreds of hours playing in harvest as my first exposure to the new endgame mapping. The conquerors were all interesting fights to some extent, and felt challenging but repeated fights made them more manageable and readable, as almost every endgame encounter before them has been.

Sirus is just a completely different beast. I have made 3 characters this league, a starter, a lightspeed mapper, and now a blinged out eternity shroud bosser almost solely designed to turn conquerors inside out. And after 4 fights with sirus I cannot for the life of me see almost any of his attacks, let alone read them coming and evade them. I've gotten him to his 3rd phase consistently with most of my portals remaining, but every single death happens instantly with what seem to be no tells, and infinite screen clutter.

I realize that continuing to fight him will eventually lead to me being able to predict his moves and combat him properly. But specifically the visuals of the fight and the hazards when returning after death make this the most miserable experience I've encountered in the game, and has almost convinced me to simply ignore the mapping endgame altogether.

    Sincerely, One tilted af exile

Low level gear progression was amazing with Harvest crafting

    Posted: 07 Aug 2020 11:23 PM PDT

I decided to play a 2H SSF SC build this league and I don't think I've ever had a smoother transition playing through the acts. Using harvest crafting, I could make solid weapons (much better than the old rustic belt recipe) every 10 levels plus I actively kept my resistances updated. Normally, playing in SC, I would be just trying to rush using what ever crappy gear (why upgrade when the real fun is in maps anyway) and it really made that early part of the game annoying. This time, by engaging with the league mechanics (this is important, it wasn't "free"), I had a strong character from start to finish.

I wanted to mention this because I've seen a few posts about how great the endgame crafting is but haven't seen anything about harvest's targeted crafting being used during the story. Playing in this league reminded me of when GGG got rid of repeating acts for the current 10 act story. They tuned the exp so that you shouldn't need to farm any levels and it made the game so much better. I feel like with harvest, you get the same benefit with gear.

EDIT: I wanted to add that harvest crafting during the story did not invalidate gear drops. When I had a harvest, I'd take look at my gear + 4L/rares I had saved up and what craft options were available. A lot of the fun that came from harvest during the story was that the crafting mods were also based random drops. Harvest doesn't make gear a "solved" problem until endgame. You still have to work with what you find.

TL;DR: Using harvest league mechanics during the story lead to a nice, fun run. I hope we can get some of this new crafting system for lower levels.

Just a casual player's experience so far......

(died 5 times killing A5 Sirus btw)

So yea, thats the furthest ive ever been in POE.

    Never killed shaper/ elder before.

Literally just killed sirus, and i agree the storm mechanics are really poor game mechanics.

Have only half as much time to play as others or even less as im still serving national service in Singapore.

Started and quitted at sythesis, got back at metamorph (but continued standard cause still dk what im doing), played delirium (rippy ass mods but love cluster jewels) and now harvest (love the crafts, was never a crafter before).

I love this game, hope u guys love it as much as i do.

Good day exile, thanks for reading, may RNGesus be with u.

I know its nothing super special, but I am really proud of this craft and it cost me less than 10ex to make!

How do you combat reroll-itis? Question from a relatively new player.

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 10:09 AM PDT

I started playing PoE 3 or 4 months ago. And for 3 or 4 months now I've been trying to fight my obsessive tendencies to reroll. I typically get characters somewhere in the range of level 40 - 60 and then my ADD is like "Hey bro, this is fun, but you know what would be more fun? Playing that other build you wanted to try."

To be fair, I have this problem in virtually every RPG I play that has deep character customization with lots of classes and skill trees.

One huge improvement Sirus has over Uber Elder

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 03:08 AM PDT

    Free entry.

To give an idea of how much I play, I usually hit level 91-92 with 2-3 characters each league and run characters with a 5ex budget.

In past leagues, I would never even attempt Uber Elder or shaper, because there was always a high chance of bricking the fight, especially when you had never learnt the mechanics. When sets could easily cost 20% of the budget for a new character, it was always more worth it to sell the fragments.

With Sirus however, you get free access to the endgame encounter, just by running maps. I've bricked multiple Sirus fights, but I've never felt overly bad that I've wasted a bunch of currency when it happens.

I hope GGG continues this method of gating endgame encounters going forward

Spent 3 hours giving low level uniques to people in Lioneye's, and i think Templar starting melee is the most ill-conceived thing for actual new players

    Posted: 08 Aug 2020 02:42 AM PDT

He could do storm call with an Elemental mace or something that gets a templar started, i think last i saw a glacial hammer build was 2 years ago

edit:started giving some stuff to Templars.Every single new player has a broken wooden door as a shield and the mace still in place at level 2-18, i feel bad for them.Turns out they refuse to take wands and scepters that they actually need.Someone just told me that this is useless to them, and they need a hammer or a mace, bless his poor heart
