The Legend of King Arthur: How one dick joke destroyed a whole guild Posted: 30 Dec 2020 10:49 AM PST Intro / Disclaimer This post explains what happened to the 250-member guild called Mission. Made by ex-members of Mission, this post is intended to raise awareness in hopes of inciting positive change, and getting our guild back if possible. We are NOT trying to defame anyone or attack reputations, but instead trying to inform the POE community about the treachery the entire guild has been subject to. Please do not doxx / harass anyone, as it will not help and only make things worse. TL;DR: On the evening of December 25, 2020, Mission's guild leader kicked the entire guild of 200+ members, deleted the Discord server and forum recruitment thread, seized the entire guild stash, and scammed donations made to the guild that were intended for guild giveaways/events. Initially, it seemed like he lost his sanity and/or took a crude joke too seriously, but as events developed, we learned that he cleaned out most of the entire guild stash as of December 29 (links to videos of the stash during the purge vs videos of the stash now are included in the full account). The stash's total estimated value at the time, including all donated currency, items, and builds, amounted to at least 5-10 mirrors in Heist. Background Mission (guild tag MSSN) was created by KoolaidMinistries ("Koolaid") in July 2019 during Legion league. It grew and eventually averaged 200-250 members every league. Mission was a well-established community, with a Discord server of 1000+ members. It had an active player base and an excellent stash-sharing system funded by member donations. Koolaid always seemed to have the guild's best interests at heart, frequently hosting in-guild contests and giveaways. However, all of that came to an abrupt end in December 2020. What Happened On December 24, one guild officer made a NSFW joke in guild chat. Koolaid condescendingly called it out. He made a big deal out of it, and he even mislabeled the joke as "toxic" when it wasn't actually directed at anybody. The officer who made the joke had no intention of offending anyone, and he even offered to take the full blame. Two other officers and a few members who were online at the time tried to defuse the situation, saying that the joke was not made out of toxicity. Koolaid decided to give leadership to an alt account called RunItYourselves and left the guild for one night. He came back the next day and promptly kicked three officers (the one who made the joke and the two others who tried to defuse the situation). He then created an 8-minute YouTube video if other is down) shaming the officers and shared it with all Discord members via an announcement. (He later unlisted the video, but it should still be accessible.) He continued to insinuate that the guild would be better off without the officers. (In reality, they were the guild's backbone, especially during Harvest league, most of which Koolaid was absent for.) Later, Koolaid's zero-tolerance policy continued. He kicked several members for disagreeing with his original decision, including another longstanding officer. He also lied about what happened to members who were not online during the original incident. The three officers who were originally kicked decided to post on a different guild's recruitment thread. Koolaid caught wind of this and began monitoring the thread, banning anyone who posted on there. One member pointed out the unfairness of the situation and got kicked. Later, Koolaid wrongfully called him a liar and insulted him. More and more members started leaving the guild, which Koolaid laughed off as a good thing to happen before 3.13. On Christmas Day within the span of a few hours, Koolaid did the following:
All remaining officers were either kicked or demoted. In the end, only a few members remained; they had donated points to the guild and were thus unable to be kicked (due to a restriction imposed by the game itself). You can see the current guild profile here. Note that the Discord link on there is now invalid, which is more evidence that the Discord was deleted. Some of the ex-members got together and made a refugee Discord server. One ex-member reached out to a community manager from The Forbidden Trove (TFT) Discord to see if a neutral third party could help resolve the situation. When Koolaid was contacted by TFT for his side of the story, he insulted and blocked the staff member. In the end, TFT couldn't really help beyond blacklisting Koolaid from their server for egregious scamming and misconduct. Koolaid also left all three major POE discords: POE, POE Trading, and TFT (which means no mutual servers, and thus can't be contacted unless he was previously added as a friend). To date, he has continued to be uncommunicative, uncooperative, and unwilling to compromise, both in game and out of game. (Note that here, Koolaid claimed that people wanted to "take over" the guild, which was not true. He also claimed to have worked on the guild "for over 3000 hours this league", but that's equal to at least 125 days—an impossible feat given how we're only ~100 days into the league.) One ex-member also reached out to GGG support, but have yet to receive a meaningful response. Consequences / Why This Matters There were hundreds of dollars' worth of points that were donated to fund guild member slots and stash tabs. All of this is essentially going to waste. There were 250 member slots and at least 80+ stash tabs, but with all the hidden tabs that only the guild leader can see, a more realistic estimate would be 90-100+. Even conservatively speaking, with the 220 member slots and 80 stash tabs purchased, we are looking at over USD$600 in points spent. Furthermore, Koolaid still has all the items that were donated / in guild stash: maps, pure breachstones, uniques, and myriad other items intended to benefit guild members. The total value of donations is estimated to be in the thousands of exalts (~5-10+ mirrors). This includes multiple people's entire builds, donated at various points throughout the league—including several min-maxed aura-stacker setups. Several ex-members have testified donating hundreds of exalts in raw currency and items. Additionally, significant amounts of guild currency were stored in Koolaid's personal stash for crafting purposes. None of these items have been returned. In the days after the mass-kicking, Koolaid cleared out most of the guild stash. We don't know his motives for sure, but this is not a good look. Here are videos of the guild stash recorded before and after Koolaid's ransacking. You can see that a lot of the more valuable stuff from the first video is now missing, such as all the red maps. Note that these are only the member-visible tabs; there are more hidden tabs that cannot be seen by members. What's Next? The situation is relatively recent, and things may change as time progresses. However, we believe that Koolaid's stance is unchangeable. It's difficult to even make contact with him. He might quit the game for good, and the guild will forever be in limbo. Our short-term goal is to find a resolution before 3.13. Retribution is not our aim. Ideally, we want to get our guild back somehow, as it would really be a shame for the 250 member slots and 80+ stash tabs to go to waste. However, we don't know if GGG would be willing to help us with this, or even if they are able to. We hope that this Reddit post can draw their attention. (We have saved in-game chat logs, videos, ex-member testimonials, and other evidence that can be provided if needed.) If restoring the guild is not possible, then perhaps it is possible to refund points that were donated to the guild. Some ex-members have already submitted requests to GGG support, but have yet to hear back. Finally, we recognize that restoring in-game currency / items is probably a lost cause. It would be insanely difficult to track who is owed what. It is also late enough in the league that these things don't really matter for most ex-members. Our long-term goal is to draw attention to the dated guild system in POE. Why is there no kicking cooldown for the leader? Why are there no additional roles, such as co-leaders? Will we ever see a meaningful guild system rework? These are just some of the features we hope GGG can implement at some point in the future. ---------------- Thank you for reading. We hope that through sharing our experience, we can incite some positive change in the POE community. If you're ever having a bad day, just remember that one time, a dick joke destroyed a whole guild. Edit: fixed link [link] [comments]

I don't want to break the hype of Ascendant Atlas, but... Posted: 29 Dec 2020 11:06 PM PST What's the bet that they will end up being like "Legion has a +5% chance to spawn" or "Legion now instead has a 10% chance to spawn two monoliths". I refuse to believe this new mechanic will just be a free scarab on your map, but instead it will either be a small bonus that is consistent, or a big but inconsistent bonus that you benefit from only occasionally. "Dance with Death" keystone on Wander Posted: 30 Dec 2020 07:11 AM PST I would like to have a discussion about the Dance with Death keystone and why nobody seems to be using it for lightning based KB/Power Siphon wanders. What Dance with Death does:
These are some hefty downsides, but hear me out, the keystone is still worth it! Every single guide on Power Siphon wanders I have read puts so much emphasis on the +2 proj helmet enchantment, and how unbelievably important it is. Well, as it turns out wearing no helmet at all and using Dance with Death gives me significantly more damage than a GG crafted helmet (this would be extremely expensive in league). And it lets me replace the Diamond Flask! This is nice for all ascendencies - Pathfinders don't want to use Diamond Flasks because they do not scale with flask effectiveness, and other ascendencies might run out of charges during bossfights, leaving them with a gimped crit chance. What is even more important than the lucky crit chance however is the second line: Your Damage with Critical Strikes is Lucky. Since this is a lightning damage stacking build, it has a huge damage variance. The GG PoB from the Queenliness Wanderfinder guide (one of the most popular wander guides) for example deals between 23k and 254k lightning damage per attack. This means that your low roll deals more than 10 times less damage than your high roll. This can feel very bad in gameplay, since sometimes you will feel like you do barely any damage, and sometimes the bosses will just evaporate. The "your damage with critical strikes is lucky" aspect of the keystone cancels out a lot of the low rolls - someone who is more gifted in math than me can surely figure out just how much it is, but trust me (and pob), it is a lot. I adjusted the GG PoB of the Queenliness Guide (it has absoultely insane items and some legacy gear) to instead use Dance with Death. While this only brings the build from 43m dps to 44m dps, it also lets me replace the Diamond Flask with a Dying Sun, which brings the damage up to 48.5m dps! While this drops the build from 5912 HP to 5669 HP the increase in damage is quite significant. Link to adjusted Queenliness PoB (don't know why the shock is set to 45%, this is how it was presented in the guide) I have leveled my wander to 95 over the last few days, and since I swapped to Dance with Death I have been enjoying it so so much more! For some reason the character does not show up on poe.ninja yet, but here is my profile (Character: PlsMakeWandsWork) and my PoB. What do you think about using the keystone with wanders? Or maybe any other builds that can use it well? [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2020 04:17 AM PST I love the new Sunder but I think it could use a bit of identity. I mean Ground Slam is better at slamming, EQ is better at bleeding, Earthshatter is better at everything, Tectonic is better at burning and Ice crash is better at icing. Maybe give sunder a vaal version or something? I promise league start 3.13 with Sunder if you do. [link] [comments]
Late Heist PSA: Blueprint Reveal Costs go up after ANY reveal Posted: 30 Dec 2020 10:10 AM PST This may have already made the rounds, but I recently worked to finish the blueprint reveal challenge and only just now realized each reveal increases the cost of revealing anything on the entire blueprint. The challenge-completion guides I ran into only seemed to mention the Area Level in regards to reducing marker costs. The general point: Each Room OR Wing reveal increases the cost of ALL reveals Implications: -If you reveal more wings (e.g. Wing 2), the cost to reveal rooms in previous wings (e.g. Wing 1) will go up substantially. -Reverse is also true (revealing more rooms in Wing 1 increases the cost to reveal Wing 2). -To finish the room-reveal challenge, the most rogue-marker effective method is to just reveal all the rooms in Wing 1 for each Blueprint (Even at level 83, each reveal should be between 500-1100 markers. Revealing rooms in Wing 2 are almost double the costs of revealing rooms in Wing 1, and it gets worse each reveal. -Considering high level blueprints are cheap to trade for, I realized I wasted a heck-ton of tokens doing 4-wing Grand Heists earlier in the league (even if I was selective on what I revealed) Not sure if anyone already did math on efficient "revealing" processes (e.g. If revealing everything in Wing 1, do you reveal the escape route first or last.) I wasnt logging any of my observations so I have no raw data to provide. [link] [comments]

Suggestions for an Improved Boss Battle HUD Posted: 30 Dec 2020 11:55 AM PST Hey GGG, This is the best time I have to sit down and write suggestions so hopefully suggestions don't get thrown into the wind while so many GGG staff are on break. (Thanks everyone that is working throughout the break!) One thing I wish PoE always had was a health bar that was permanently displayed during boss encounters. Sometimes it's hard to see the boss the information I want during a battle (what mods it has, which debuffs are currently applied to it, and even the simple fact of how much health the boss has left). Sometimes the screen is too busy, sometimes the boss moves too fast, sometimes my build isn't even made to face the boss. Having a permanent health bar displayed would be AMAZING. (For encounters with multiple bosses I'd be fine with all three (or however many) bosses being displayed above even though it makes the screen a little busier.) Another thing I feel boss battles need is a HUD "pop-up" (or whatever they're called) that tells you that you've killed the boss of the map. Sure, some maps are obvious, but other maps are not. And honestly, more often than I'd like to admit, I've forgotten if I've killed the map boss or not. Having confirmation would be great. Even a "check-list" in the quest tracker would be awesome. Anyway, just a couple things that I think would really improve the general everyday mapping experience. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year GGG! Thanks for your time. [link] [comments]

You guys think they will improve multiplayer? Posted: 30 Dec 2020 02:53 AM PST I wish you'd see players more often in open world like Diablo 4 is planning, and also in "dungeons", only issue with PoE is that you clear the maps so fast alone so I guess there will never be any good multiplayer experience? This is the only reason I can't get into this game :-/ [link] [comments]

A proposal for a map mod UI overhaul, and why the current system is clunky for complex maps Posted: 29 Dec 2020 05:25 PM PST Hey all. After seeing posts like this one and encountering this myself, I wanted to write up a proposal (because GGG tends to react to long feedback posts) for a better way to show map mods, in a both visually clearer way, and a more "professional" way than just having them listed on the edge of the screen. Section 1 - The issueCurrently, the way map mods are shown is by having them all enumerated out in a grand list on the side of the screen when you press tab (to bring up the fullscreen map). The list isn't sorted by any way I can discern (I'm sure there is a sorting system, but it's not alphabetic or anything obvious), so it can be hard to find a specific mod you're checking for. How many times did you not notice reflect mods until it's too late? As shown in the linked post earlier, these can also take up screen space (it takes up a 4th of their screen!) and can make it hard to see what's going on while you have the fullscreen map open. Since the map is transparent, many players will still be moving with it open. Having a huge list of purple text on a near-opaque black background blocks vision. Section 2 - The proposed new system and UISo instead of doing it the way it is now, I propose having a dedicated window for showing map mods, that you could bring up like you'd bring up your inventory or cosmetics or what-have-you. It could also be a permanent button on the screen. Upon opening this window, map mods would be sorted into collapsible categories, based on the overarching "purpose/effect" of the mod. Map mods that are especially dangerous would be highlighted in red text (such as reflect mods), and mods that have purely positive benefits in green. For an example of how this could work, I used This means you can collapse away mods you don't care about, like most builds can collapse the "area is inhabited by" mods. There could also be a search function at the top of the window. To again use the linked screenshot (linking it again), stuff could be sorted like this: Area is inhabited by/contains monsters:
Encounters:
Unique Boss
Player Buffs/Debuffs
Monster buffs/debuffs
Misc/Map effects
Yes, I manually transcribed these from the image, you better be welcome! Each of these categories could be collapsed and searched, so you only see the things you care about. If GGG wanted to be extra fancy, they could do dynamic highlighting based on things detected from your build, for example only highlighting physical reflect in red if you actually deal physical with your build. Thoughts? Further feedback? Let me know. [link] [comments]
