I've never stopped playing PoE for a balance or bug issue, but "Texture Streaming" is about to convince me.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 06:11 AM PST

I've been playing this game since 2012. I've played every league since the very first ones were ever released. I've seen some shit in this game. But so far the only thing that's ever caused me to look at this game and say "this is really a step backwards, the game is actually worse now", is what's being referred to as "texture streaming".

I never had a top end multi-thousand dollar PC. I'm usually about a generation behind the curve and have mid-ranged parts. I've never had genuinely poor quality gameplay until this league. I tweaked with settings, I lowered graphics, I updated and downgraded graphics drivers... I've been a PC gamer for a long time, I've done these things before, but none of them helped.

The game crashes at least once a night. I die fairly often, not because I'm making poor gameplay decisions, but because the game doesn't allow me to because I literally cannot see anything. I recently unlocked the "harbinger reinforcement" node in Valdo's Rest and now every map in that region devolves into a brown and blue mess of color when they appear on screen. Textures fail to load, sprites get muddled together, nothing makes sense. It looks like a Jackson Pollock painting.

So many good things have happened to this game in the 8+ years I've been playing and this isn't one of them. It might be one of the best things to happen to this game some day, but it's not right now. Genuinely, for the first time in my long history with Path of Exile, I feel like the current state of the game engine is actually worse and is making my favorite game no longer fun to play. I'm begging you GGG, please, either fix it or remove it from the game engine until it's ready.

Please, make it go away. I'd rather sit at minute long load screens.

Awakened PoE Trade has been blocked by GGG and are currently investigating how to handle a lot of requests.

I'm very sad, this is hands down my favorite 3rd party tool and SnosMe is amazing, hope everything works out.

Come grab your 6L Recipe in Primeval Chamber. I'll try to stand here for a few hours.

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 11:37 AM PST

Heya, ThatYiGuy here. (Self-proclaimed expert in all things Blade Vortex :P)
I grinded out the 6L recipe and figured I'd pass it out to save people some(way too much) hassle.
I'm at work right now so might be distracted. But i'll try to invite people that whisper me.

Directions: Go into my mines, follow the glowing path down and slightly to the right and then keep follwing the light downward. Go into the chamber and check minimap. I should be standing next to the Recipe.

I wish there were more games like PoE, not ARPGs but games in general

    Posted: 26 Jan 2021 07:40 AM PST

Don't insta gib me for this, but I am not a huge fan of ARPGs, I understand the appeal but it just isn't for me. Yet in spite of that I keep returning to PoE whenever a new expansion comes out and I realized why I like it so much.

    1. Variety of content. There is so many different thing to do, each activity has it's own progression and storyline, yet they all gel and work together. You can focus only on one activity at a time or just do them all at once little by little. The grind is completely blanketed thanks to the variety and constant feel of progress.
    2. Cool and varied themes. Just like content there are so many different fantasy themes that gel so well together. You have your basic fantasy tropes, you have steampunk/technology, alchemy, corruption, eldritch and cosmic shit, flora and fauna, death and divinity, thieves and assassin's, memory and illusion. All these tropes executed so well.
    3. Lastly, this will sound weird, gameplay in/through story and lore. Everything you do in the game is explained and acknowledged in the story itself. The Atlas, the skills, the currency, the activities, hell even the grind was made into lore with the Conquerors.

The only other games that gave me this feeling are Souls games and Hollow Knight, mainly for points 2 and 3. I wish there were more devs like GGG to make games like PoE, but different genre. I wish I had more resistance to the burnout I get when I play PoE. What a game!
