New Guild Dads Of Exile looking for members

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 11:30 AM PDT

The other day over on https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/ someone posted a request for builds for "Casual Dads" After a few posts, I noticed there were lots of players that fit into this category . I decided to take the opportunity to see if any of these Casual Dads would be interested in starting a guild.

Just a place where casual players that might also be dads could come together, hang out, learn and play together.

There are no playtime per day or experience requirements. Just a relaxed community where we can get together, and learn from each other. Help with items and builds. Maybe if our schedules allow, get some groups going for higher end group content.

If anyone is interested, please post here, with your character name or you can message me on reddit with any questions.

    Thanks for stopping by.

My entry for the fanart contest! A Bronze Kiwi!

Another stash pro tip: You can highlight items within a range of item levels by typing ' ilvl:[X][Y-Z] ' in the search bar.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 09:37 PM PDT

As an example, I've been trying to find ilvl 83+ breach rings for the Grasping Mail recipe (don't ask, it's a nightmare ;_; ). I've been helping sellers out by telling them to type this in their search bar:

    "breach ring" ilvl:[8][3-9]

This highlights any breach rings within ilvls 83-89 in your stash.

Remember, spaces between your search text mean 'and', and a vertical slash '|' means 'or'. I could also do this for multiple bases - as an example, if I wanted to find all ilvl 86-89 steel or vermillion rings in my stash, I'd use:

    "steel ring|vermillion ring" ilvl:[8][6-9]

Hopefully this will help you sift through your countless dump tabs for rare gear you've found along the way :)

Armor feels too flask dependent relative to other defensive layers

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 04:13 AM PDT

Having a granite flask up and/or one with +100% armor is practically mandatory for armor to reach 30-50k even with lots of investment, and any less than that gets crushed hard by any larger hits.

I have like almost +200% armor, and even then I only hover at around 15k unless I pop my granite. This is a huge problem for bosses with phys components where flask charges are basically non-existent. Compare that to dodge, which is always up.

I tried swapping out my 15k (30k with flasks) armor for like a diadem that brought me down to 5-10k with flasks, but let me run flesh and stone for blind/flat mitigation, and I legit feel way tankier.

I can't see armor being useful for anyone besides Jugg who already has so much flat mitigation that they only need a little bit of armor to cap out.

thank you GGG for putting vulconus into base drop pool

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 10:17 AM PDT

After about 200 guardians (I know they don't drop it more than everything else anymore) and 9k chance/scours I am still vulconus-free. Thank you GGG, for wise decisions, as always lately !

Thank god DD2 is coming soon

My (lacking) experience with RNG-Gated League content

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 04:07 AM PDT

This is going to be a minor rant and a bit of a view back on the past Leagues, as far as I can remember them.

I would like to say that I find it a really sad choice that so much League content seems to just be inaccessible to players like me*, unless I end up being immensely lucky - and it's really just demotivating. Looking back, I've had the most fun / sense of accomplishment in Leagues where that wasn't the case (aka, Delirium & Legion).

*a filthy casual with fulltime job and family

Bestiary League: Probably the earliest League I remember. I remember the whole mess with the awkward net gameplay... and never even knew it had bosses. To this day, I haven't caught a single boss-beast, and only found out about them on reddit, many Leagues later.

Delve League: Probably one of my favorite mechanics. Never saw a single boss.

Betrayal League: Gradual progress, step by step. It was complex, but didn't feel like RNG - I actually saw the endgame boss here.

Synthesis League: I can't say much here. Due to bugs and crashes, I never got too far into it - but I enjoyed the revealing storyline. From memory, at least it felt like it had a natural progression with not too much RNG.

Legion League: Collect splinters, choose difficulty, do it at your own pace. It was exactly how it should be (except for the whole "don't do 5-ways without a headhunter" thing, but that's minor).

Blight League: A bit of a sore spot. I'm probably odd, but I liked Blight - and in the first 2 or 3 days, I dropped a few Blight maps... which all crashed. After the patch, I never saw a Blight map drop for the rest of the League.

Delirium League: I distinctly remember getting my delirium shards (I think it was 100, before they were changed to 300) and doing my 20 waves. It was the first time ever, that I had the chance to experience the League endgame and it felt damn good. And no, I didn't just "stop playing" afterwards, I wanted to do it again. The only negative here was the surprising lack of plot.

Heist League: While I didn't like Heist, it was probably one of my most played Leagues (3 characters to 90+). While I did all the quest contracts, I never dropped a single boss contract during the whole League.

Ultimatum League: As many may guessed by now, no Trialmaster yet - after weeks of playing in high tier red maps.

So, out of all the topic-relevant Leagues I could remember, only about 3 (4 if we count Synthesis) ever let me experience the endgame in a "natural" fashion, where I had a way to work towards it. That's about 30% - and I don't think it's a good thing.

I can understand reducing the frequency later on, but why during the League itself? Why can't we all experience the new League content equally? I'm not even suggesting that it should be quick - but it feels a lot better to work towards a goal (usually a counter, basically), than to hope for a x% chance for something to happen. Guess what, if the chance is in the single digits, chances are that some of us will never see that content at all.

And I realize that some cases allow to buy the content - but should that really be this necessary during the League itself?

After giving Trialmaster another shot this weekend and pretty much zooming through as many T16 maps as I could, I reached the point where I can't be bothered anymore. I realize I'm just complaining and ranting, but it would really be nice to have more systems like Delirium had :)
