    SSF first footstep

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 12:10 AM PDT

So this league with ok for me so far, its was a bit harder to pull off everything but in general it was fine but my biggest issue still is trading i found trading realy hard and time consuming to the point where i spent like 80% of my session time on trades.

Now im consider give ssf a shot(not hc) and wonder which build can be good ssf starter that can acctually farm content( heists, delve and such) to make a new char and snowballing like that

*** i never crafted beside some basics crafts because im not bad at generating currency so i prefer just buy my pieces. if you guys can help with some usefull links/sites that can help with that it will be awesome.

    Thanks in advance for everyone.

How to Double your Hits using Vengeant Cascade

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 02:55 PM PDT

I shared this on the main PoE subreddit over 3 months ago, but having found it again I thought I'd share it with you guys too. Hope you find it useful. Original post - https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/n6knvl/how_to_double_your_hits_using_vengeant_cascade/

Vengeant Cascade is one of the largely forgotten (because it was largely useless) hidden passive tree notables added all the way back in Blight league. It costs 2 Golden + 1 Amber Oil. It gives -

    15% increased Projectile Speed

Attack Projectiles Return to you from final Target

    Returning Projectiles Pierce all Targets\*

    * And yes, those returning projectiles can hit targets again.

'Return' is a projectile mod that comes after all the other ones - split, pierce, fork and chain. So your projectiles won't return until they're done doing all of those, upto however many of them you've got. It also has to actually HIT another enemy in order to return - and of course that enemy only gets hit once - so it won't return after some max distance or hitting a wall. It returns back to the source of the projectile, be that you, a trap, a mine or a totem. So it basically got relegated to just being a rather meh clearspeed tool, and one that was inferior to all the others (as in order to hit the enemies again, they'd have to be in the proper position to get hit by the returning projectile - although it does go through you to hit stuff behind you as well, for what it's worth). It also doesn't work for projectiles falling from the sky, like Rain of Arrows and the like.

If you want to know how this affects all the different attack (it doesn't affect spells) projectile skills, there's both a nice old Reddit post and another vid by Woolfio both trying it out -

    https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/d7cn72/vengeant_cascade_faq/

    https://youtu.be/kk9hjcM2Qh0

But anyway, what's new? In a word, Hydrosphere. That little gem of a new skill from last league may just be Vengeant Cascades' saving grace. So how to double your hits on mobs, including bosses?

Simple. Use a projectile attack skill that can pierce (so not like Spectral Shield Throw), but doesn't inherently pierce (so not Tornado Shot). Get exactly ONE pierce on it (say, from a Penetrating Arrow Quiver). Cast your Hydrosphere behind the enemy and fire away. The projectile will go through them (using up its one pierce), hit the Hydrosphere and return to hit them again. Boom! Doubled hits.

This ends up looking like a laser when used with skills like Barrage, however the real stars here might be skills that trigger secondary effects on every hit. For example - Kinetic Blast. It'll create explosions both on passing through the enemy AND on returning to hit them again, further multiplying your damage. It's kinda like having the old Frost Wall interaction for KB back again.

So basically Vengeant Cascade is finally not just a questionable clearspeed tool - it might actually significantly boost your damage as well now. Anyway, let me know if you have any questions. Cheers!

Edit:- Video showing the interaction can be found here - https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/n82r82/path_of_exile_314_doubling_attack_projectile_hits/

Spectral Helix Slayer, hammerdin playstyle, millions of dps for under 10 ex.

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 01:21 PM PDT

    https://pastebin.com/1zYXigKQ

TLDR: 4.7k/low 5k life, 2m dps on budget, slayer overleech+vaal pact, wind dancer, acro/phase acro, 100% shock/chill/freeze avoid and stun immunity in all budget ranges.

Full conversion hatred+wrath scaling. Set up with wasps nest and most of the jewels are sword jewels for paradoxica late game. All flasks except diamond flask are disabled, gems can be pushed to awakened for more dps. Tons of room to push dps in the late game, blizzard crown with reservation or something similar, flasks, awakened gems, tailwind/elusive/onslaught boots, crit/extra curse/power charge/frenzy etc chest, bigger hatred/wrath/precision watchers eye, lots of potential. :)

This build achieves 0 second cast time for lightning warp, turning it into what is basically d2 teleport (but you can't go through walls).

There's also maybe room to go divine flesh if you've got a god tier elder stygian with chaos res+ chaos res during flask, with good chaos res jewel inside, even higher chaos res on chaos res base boots, and chaos res on cluster jewels (we're right next to the Method to the Madness wheel, to ease the budget on this).

Play the build by holding down your hammer key, and then teleporting, never letting go of your hammer key. It plays a lot more like d2 hammerdin than I expected. You can go deadeye instead for less dps but overall quicker and maybe even tankier build (tailwind and gale force stacks), but you have to use glorious vanity for overleech then, and you're forced to use kaoms roots for stun immunity, which means no evasion (and a few more points for extra ailment avoid).

Absolute requirements for build to properly function:

Xoph's Blood/Call of the brotherhood/Pyre (Full conversion package)

This turns any source of damage (other than chaos) into fire damage, barely losing anything.

35% total chance to avoid element ailments on gear, we get the rest from tree.

Cluster jewels. You can grab all of these pretty cheap, you can use 2 notable large cluster jewels if on ultra budget, most important thing is 4x medium clusters with either eye to eye/ repeater or precise retaliation/basics of pain. (eye to eye/repeater is better until later on with +crit% on watchers eye and chest)

Life/Resist jewels, ias/damage bonus. This build requires so many fucking uniques that it is starving for resists.

Maligaros - It's impossible to cheaply get enough crit multi into this build without it being a glass cannon or lacking in other aspects.

Helm enchant is mandatory for 0 second cast time for lightning warp.

If you don't like the lightning warp gimmick, you can still whirling-blades at a cool 2.5+ attacks per second.

    e:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0zjenxPFf0

Here's a level 69 character doing a tier 1 map, gems are unleveled and it's only a 5L, only normal/cruel lab are done. But it should give you a pretty decent idea of playstyle of the build. Works perfectly fine with whirling blades too, it'll be like playing a hdin pre-enigma then.

    High Investment PotCG Boneshatter Jugg

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 12:49 AM PDT

Have been getting a few whispers about this so sharing my current attempt to push PotCG BS as far as it can go. Currently at lvl 95 with 9+k life, 1.6+k str, and around 7-9M conservative dps. The clear is great and I've been doing some Tropical Island Zana Delirium farming quite smoothly with it. Bossing is mediocre as it's still a melee strike skill but at least the tankiness allows for some mistakes if you are a bad mechanic player like me.

Boneshatter really needs some investment in stun duration to feel good so frankly PotCG needs a lot of help there since you are not taking the stun nodes on the tree (inefficient). However, a combination of the enchant, BS quality, ECoMS, and anomalous Ruthless gives 100% increased stun duration, which feels good enough to use. I have another 20% from the Lethal Pride as well. The stun pulses appears to chain, which results in a satisfying boom at each pack.

For the gearing choices, to move beyond the usual Iron Fortress, Abyssus, Astramentis, I've gone with the following:

    • Helmet - The Elevated Warlord accuracy mod is absolutely incredible, adding 160% crit chance and around 30% IAS from the accuracy. Elevated Elder Phys dmg taken is also a no brainer. This results in just slightly less dps then Abyssus, but Abyssus felt way too sketchy in high reds.
    • Chest: Elevated Str does a bit more on this then usual as BS's flat phys scales nicely with level. Attack Crit since PotCG has low base crit.
    • Gloves - For a long while I used a inc str implicit synth glove and just gem swapped with ancestral call. But +2 strike gloves is just a bit more convenient though less str.
    • Rings - For curses, and to fill out resist and str where possible.
    • Amulet - Astramentis is frankly a really good option that's hard to beat but I managed to get mine for cheap
    • Belt - Syth Strength is hard to beat. Mine still needs recrafting.
    • Boots - In theory, an elevated tailwind with elevated str boots would probably be BIS but they are both untagged hunter mods so no idea how to realistically craft them. In the meantime, a +1 EC Alberon is pretty darn good.

Some other "min-max" choices: pathing for split personalities, Phan Vengeance for rage, AS enchant for PotCG, double pride (+impale too expensive). I would really like to have more crit multi, but having a tough time fitting it in (Inc Crit Dmg is same dps as the current gems and ups the int req). Happy to hear tips on other ways to improve.

Overall as someone who likes true melee, Boneshatter has been a great hit with me.

POB: https://pastebin.com/k7j52iEv (Accidently left Vaal AW on, should be 8.2M DPS instead with 7 trauma stacks. POB also doesn't show the LL accurately. I have 9.2k life now. )

    Bleed damage.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 04:01 AM PDT

Im currently playing lacerate bleed glad with a 500 pdps axe and stacking phys. Just reached level 90 and dont feel like I can get alot more damage out of the build. Im doing decent damage but im struggling a little on the bosses on red tire maps. And cant really imagine going to the end game with the current setup.

Anyhow my question is. Should I stop focusing attack speed and phys dmg and rather go for phys dot multi and bleed dmg?

In my head, more phys = bigger hit and more dmg for the bleed. But I've seen alot of people going only for dot and have a axe with like 100 phys dps with amost only dot mods. Is this really more effective? Would love some imput and thought about lacerate bleed.

Its a bit hard to check on poe.ninja due to them not calculating the bleed dmg correctly on the dps.

Option three is to scrap the entire build and become meta slave for SST.

Strong build that don't require much movement skills?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 03:04 AM PDT

I have a bad internet connection and movement skills are the bane of my existence. I want builds that are similar to Elementalist BA last league when you just...run fast and kill stuff, no shield charge, no leap slam, no dash... Flame Dash is okay . Another note is that I don't like summoners. I want a little active build( not piano-level though)

Edit: I have 70 ex budget.

Converting from skeletal mages to syndicate operatives

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 03:00 AM PDT

I league-started skeletal mages and am transitioning over to SO to

    • increase end-game damage cap
    • reduce visual clutter on screen
    • reduce amount of summoning (skeles), just run and gun
    • have a faster map clear (phase run on LMB is nice!)

I had about 50ex plus already had a good wand & shield (plus the trees are similar!). Bought a helmet, boots, crafted clusters, and triad grip and now getting a feel for the playstyle.

A few questions about the transition:

    • I have a lot of 'minions deal X% dmg if you've used a minion skill recently'. Should I move away from these, or should I convo all the time? (I like phase run on LMB / using mistriss of sacr)
    • Is Call to the Slaughter on large clusters useless? Replace w/vicious bite or feasting fiends?
    • Curse: frostbite-on-hit ring + brand, frostbite-hextouch-brand, or poacher's mark + brand-just-for-EE
    • Best psuedo-6L gem selection? My +3 helm has 20 minion dmg and 20 hypo.
      • Clear: Raise spectre-vicious proj-GMP-FF
      • Boss: swap FF for signal prey or ele dmg with attacks?
    • Why don't people take the enduring bond loop for +48% more dmg? Where is that being made up?
    • Bossing seems significantly slower than mages. Is that normal?

Battlemage Cry Fanaticism Inquisitor - My solution to selfcast

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 09:31 PM PDT

Do you want to self cast? Do you want a smooth mapping playstyle? Do you want to be a hipster and play the least played ascendancy in the game - and melt map bosses in 4 seconds?! Then check out this build.

My idea was to make a selfcast character that used battlemage cry + shield charge to clear maps. You then have nearly permenant 75% more cast speed and AoE thanks to Fanaticism being up nearly permenantly. The build uses Focus for lucky crits, 32% inc cast speed and crazy life leech (vaal pact) to melt bosses fast

Currently I am using Vaal Spark as my clear linked to Battlemage Cry, and Ball Lightning as for bosses.

Not sure if this is the optimal way to do this set up - there might be stronger clearing / single target skills. Maybe ES / LL is better etc.

Spent around 10-20 ex (mostly 6L and bottled faith) and so far ive killed Sirus A4 with a couple deaths and doing fine in T16 maps. Current build is a bit squishy though and shield charge can bug out a lot which is kinda annoying

TL DR: Respec into Low Life vs level ascendent and go for Akane's indegon/agnostic build vs continue as life

I know I've totally frontloaded damage on my tree and I'm a total glass cannon, i just grabbed some cheap rare gear as soon as i killed kitava and this is it. Build served me well progression wise so far, but I'm not really following any guide in particular atm, just something hashed together off off popular poe ninja builds. I only have about 4 ex atm, but I'm wasting 6 portals and not one shotting stuff like i need to as a glass cannon, so i need to either invest or reroll. Akanes miner (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd_5ufbRA9U&ab_channel=AKANEChannel) seems really legit as far as defenses go, and I'd like to try it out eventually, but I'd like to finish out my atlas before leveling a new character. So should I reroll, invest in a 5L shavs, wand/shield and respec tree for Low life, or somehow make a life version work (and how to do that?)

I have about 5-6 exalts in raw currency + gear I could flip. Haven't gotten my initial Sirus kill yet as I've been progressing kinda slow due to irl commitments so haven't accumulated a ton of currency just yet

Edit: Playstyle wise I prefer melee builds or dot builds (Toxic Rain, Vaal Earthquake slammer and Cyclone have been my favourite characters to play)

How viable would a Faithguard + Nightgrip build be?

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 01:25 AM PDT

It seems it's possible to get about 3.5k Ward if you stack up all the ES % nodes for the added chaos damage.
I assume you'd want to play Pathfinder for the additional Ward from the ward flask or Occultist for the additional energy shield.
Closest to the concept I found is this pathfinder, however he only runs Nightgrip alone and not the Faithguard helm.
    https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds/char/zbyss/spinnymcdodgy

Would it be feasible to brainstorm a Nightgrip build with Faithguard?
I think it'd be great with a skin of the lords/loyal as well as Global Defense % modifiers, e.g. 3 White Scaeva or a Eyes of the greatwolf/other talisma/Envy auls uprising. The maximum I got to was about 3.6k Ward, which seems pretty neat.
I don't quite know what would be the best skill to use with that particular combo(would need high damage effectiveness, something akin to Replica Alberons type builds) but the concept sounds engaging.
    Thoughts, opinions?

my contribution to the FR totem discussion

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 06:17 AM PDT

I've seen a number of posts by folks asking for advice on how to make the FR totem build more durable. This is what I've been playing, and I think it's relatively tanky without sacrificing substantial damage.

    https://pastebin.com/H7vd8gRB

Essentially, I've leaned into MoM and mana regen. This is 18.5M DPS w/out flasks and roughly 7.5k effective health (life+es+mana) with significant regen. PoB reports the EHP against physical damage to be 33k w/out flasks.

I think this gear is good but not unreasonable--the belt is by far the most expensive item. Rare items are meant to fill out life/mana/res (unreserved mana should be roughly 0.66*Life). The important influenced mods are +1 totems (Shaper Shield) and Assassin's Mark (Shaper Ring). While blind is nice to have, it's nowhere near as important as taunt (on a medium cluster jewel). I don't think Blind has ever saved me, but taunt certainly has.

See the Notes page for some other minor details.

Help me improve defense of this build (bv poison occultist)

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 04:23 AM PDT

    https://pastebin.com/nSZwrNye

Hello, here is pob my a build I created and is rly enjoyable to play, however it has an issue. I created it with clear and expedition in mind and it rly excels in expeditions, for general clearing and telegraphed bosses. When it comes to non-telegraphed bosses like metamorphs or projectile packs in corridors like Baran mobs, it randomly flops due to being caster melee and 8k es, perma fortify, +3 all res, chaos, bleed, stun, freeze immunity, all is useless, because many of these attacks are unpredictable (or have no solution in situations like corridor baran maps), hidden in poe visual clutter or too fast for human to react due to random mods or auras affecting them.

Anybody has any suggestions, how to improve passive defenses to avoid these inpredictable instakills? I was thinking about getting block, but due to being poison and es focused, its hard to change the tree. With some investment, I could probably get 1-2 endu charges, but not sure if that helps anything.

This build farms t16s smoothly, its super fun, just the random instakills make me want to quit so hard. Any suggestions are welcome or if you see even a non-defense fail, feel free to point it out. Thanks.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 04:12 AM PDT

hello, some of you may know this build from past leagues so let me get my sources out of the way because this is by no means "my build"

    sources:

original idea (afaik) from neato https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygdp_py_EHw
further polishing in this thread from heist league https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/krdymw/corpsewalker_cyclone_cwc_detonate_dead/

    my current pob:
    https://pastebin.com/Bdqm1Ng5

All in all i can recommend this build , i think it can stand its ground in the current version of the game and enabled me to do red maps and bosses.

I would really like to hear from you how to improve it even further. Maybe different clusters? different tree pathing, .. ?

Things i am aware of and not sure if they are worth it:

    • red nightmare jewel for higher block and endurance charge generation
    • transcendent mind cobald jewel for more dmg over time
    • dps focused anoint
    • wither totem setup
    • discipline watchers eye (30 es on hit maybe?)
    • div. tempest shield for higher block chance (+ enhance + div. plague bearerer ? see below)

current problems of the build i would like to solve

    • porcupine's , though with vaal grace and / or vaal discipline (and rumis) its "ok"
    • auto trigger bone offering (only option i can think of is trigger on focus in helmet) , though the current setup with increased duration is "ok"
    • onslaught (dont have any) and speed in general (but not going full investment like harbringer belt for action speed)
    • min max in general

    things i am thinking about

    • adding enhance to div. plague bearer for more dot multi
    • ditching yoke for something else (mainly because of the reduced duration)
    • ditching the high dex. and go below 155 (and thus lose high level dex gems like vaal grace) but free up item and affix slots
    • increasing str for higher inc. duration and adding steelskin as guard skill

personal taste stuff you can ignore / neglect

    • using vaal haste for backtracking and general map clear

    looking forward to your input!

    Good Bossing Build for Marauder

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 04:10 AM PDT

    Hey all,

Right now I'm having a blast grinding maps with a staff chieftain cyclone. I'm playing with my friends, and we're all running builds that have good clear but pretty bad bossing.

I'd like to make a switch to a bossing build as we get to more endgame content and we get more currency. Any suggestions? I'd still like to have decent clear. I'm pretty lazy with leveling, so respeccing my marauder is a much more preferable option. Unless there's a build that you guys are really enjoying then let me know! Thanks!

    Secrets of Suffering Question

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 04:10 AM PDT

So I'm debating playing around with Secrets of Suffering alternate ailments for some attack bow builds. My question is: does the application of Brittle/Sap on bosses work similar to Shock - ie if my hits are too small, I won't gain much from them?

For example, would Storm Rain be really bad for this because it stacks many small hits and thus will never gain much ailment effect? Or can I mitigate this somewhat with % increased ailment effect somehow?
