For the forbidden rite totem players - try this setup if you are struggling!

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 07:20 PM PDT

So I have experimented with a few different PoB's.

Started off with non-crit version, (using 2 large clusters). damage was quite good, survivability was garbage.

Swapped to crit version with 2 larges. better damage, still bad survivability.

Tried the fyregrass "tanky" version - quite good but still not the best as my current.

I talked to a few totem conisseurs and came across this guide: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3155643

Basically the big difference here is using Zerphi's heart and hypothermia in your links.

This is BY far the best way to play fr totems. Especially for clear (soul eater is absolutely awesome).

I have barely died with this, running rippy maps and juiced up mods and now have cleared every boss and invitation. this build is also capable of running 100% although i wouldnt recommend it.

The main takeways are - do not use coward's legacy!!! it is absolutely not worth it for the price. You do not need that much damage it is just superfluous at this point.

If you are interested here is my pob: https://pastebin.com/SrAU2bek this is 40ex investment. and for the price i paid to put this together i am much more than happy with how it is performing as i have tried multiple builds and different versions for a similar price range and they didnt come close to this setup.

If you are interested here is a clip of a hunter map with a terrible layout and only level 88 at the time of recording.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cA9z8DeDPvg

Please give it an honest try if youre not happy with the way your current FR totems is operating. You will fall in love with soul eater.

Only downside is you will need much more stats on tree and gear if you can to meet the Zerphi's heart stat increase but it is 100% worth it.

Let me know if you have any questions!

TL;DR: GET PROJ SPEED!!!!!!!! on wands + helm enchant if you can. YOU DO NOT NEED +1 TOTEM SHIELD. OR THE 15EX BELT or an extremely large amount of extra proj if your proj speed is dogshit (that is one of the main reason people are dying). try zerphis heart its like a very budget head hunter :D

Transcendence applies armour to BOTH physical damage and elemental damage

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 05:23 PM PDT

EDIT: It looks like it may only apply to self-inflicted physical damage, as a commenter below posted clear evidence of Transcendence blocking armour from applying to enemy physical hits.

Thanks to Boneshatter I've discovered that armour is still applying to physical damage taken. Tested on Kuduku with 66% base PDR from end charges etc, and took the same Trauma damage with and without Transcendence allocated, while having around 50k armour. Should have been taking 3-4x more Trauma damage with Transcendence compared to without it.

This is obviously a bug, and I've submitted a bug report on the forums that GGG didn't see from what I can tell. You may have time to make a build abusing this before GGG gets around to fixing it.

Also it turns out some guy knew about it back in January and GGG still hasn't touched it. Kind of hope this post gets their attention though since it's a super OP bug.

How do melee strike skills feel?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 08:30 PM PDT

Currently bored with Necro and sitting on like 20-25 EX and kinda feel like playing something more active. Was wondering if anyone had success with anything?

Just got a void battery in ssf, what can I do with it?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 03:37 AM PDT

I'm pretty early on SSF so not much gear at all lol. Looking mostly for good clear speed but decent single target.

    On SSFHC

Saw the new winter skill but didn't like it...

SO spectre necromancer. Should I transition into Aura stacking summoner?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 01:11 AM PDT

I'm currently following a forum guide by Deadandlivin on POE forums.

    His Guide: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3077446

    MY CURRENT POB: https://pastebin.com/YCVQBDej

I'm somewhere in between his low budget and medium budget build atm. My DPS is good enough to clear red maps, but tends to be a bit rippy and was looking at poe.ninja and saw a few aura stacking summoners and I'm REALLLL interested.

My question is, how smooth is the transition and just how much investment would be required for an aura stacking spectre build to really feel comfortable? I'm looking to really just map. I will kill the occasional boss/ sirus when needed, but my main focus is mapping atm. Especially clearing that damn atlas. I have roughly 5ex worth of investment in my character(s) and about 3 ex of currency saved up.

Is it worth it for me to transition into aura stacking? Or should I just stick with my build until I build up more currency

Edit: I just removed Mistress of Sacrifice and specced into Bone Barrier. I overlooked this before. I am a little bit worried about the descrease in skill duration now though

Edit ADDITIONAL QUESTION!: I know minion gem levels scale their hp, but does it scale their base DMG as well?

Doedre's (new) elixir build. Help needed.

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 02:17 AM PDT

I looted a Doedre's Elixir a while back and the moment I realised the changes, I knew I wanted to make a build out of it. So... Here's the idea.

Step 1. Get HP really high. High enough that we can have a reasonable chaos resistance of 0% and the 50% of HP dmg we take from the elixir is just enough to trigger a level 20 CWDT gem.

Step 2. Realise that's a ton of damage, but it fills up your endurance charges to max (if properly rolled). Get an Eternal Apple. We can now use that to, upon using the flask, immediately trigger Enduring Cry. This will give us 2k hp, plus 10% of our max hp, nearly off-setting the flask all on its own.

Step 3. Fix mana concerns. This is also achieved already. We allocate Battle Rouse and Dynamo, with a CWDT Steelskin that'll trigger at the start of flask activation, which should mean we never, ever have mana issues. For extra spice, we can throw in a Rallying cry in The Eternal Apple and get Spirited Response.

Alright. Now we have a lot of HP, good HP sustain and excellent mana sustain. This is all great. The question then becomes... where do we get our damage? This is where I'm kind of getting stuck. Ideally, we'd want something that the Apple could boost with its warcries.

This gives us melee stuff with the obvious melee warcries. Minions with Rallying Cry, which we already use. Or fire spells with Infernal Cry to add tasty explosions.

Another concern is flask uptime and cooldowns. Even if we cut the cooldowns of our warcries down somewhat, we don't really gain anything from pressing the flask beyond trigger a bunch of spells, and having Power and Frenzy Charges I can't figure out how to make use of left-over.

We can get away from flask worries by quite simply cutting out the flask entirely. Instead, we can use Forbidden Rite to achieve the same self-damage. We still suffer from the issues of synergy with the warcries, though, and the fact that we can only cast every so often unless we want to absolutely wreck ourselves. If Unleash doesn't cause multiple instances of damage, there is a certain synergy there. Even more so if we can trigger all the chaos DOT spells. This even gives us regen from Essence Drain.

TLDR: I have some interesting synergies, but I can't really piece them together into a build and I hoping that ya'll had some ideas to fix the last pieces.

Is HoWA raider Doryani's Prototype still strong?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 11:58 PM PDT

I heard that it's quite strong last league, but with how the build mainly focus on defensive aspect, is the damage enough to clear the entire game? There are only two people playing it on poe ninja so I want to ask here if anybody try it this league, and if possible, some PoB or guide. For the budget, I have around 25-30 ex.

    Thanks in advance.

Interest for build guides with videos

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 01:20 AM PDT

    Hello!

I have been playing PoE for about 6 years now and every league I end up with 5-10 characters with builds I make on my own, usually focused on new skills or uniques.

Would people be interested in me making build guides for these, with video coverage to highlight the builds strength and weaknesses? Regardless of the builds success?

What do you want to be included in a build guide? What are things you dont like in build guides? Do you like them to be short or in depth?

Thanks for reading, hopefully my first build guide will get released after this weekend.

One Way of (situationally) Cancelling out Curses

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 04:44 AM PDT

Anomalous Holy Flame Totem + Divergent Knockback + Enhance.

Holy Flame Totem grants curse immunity while within its consecrated ground area (which is admittedly rather small). To help keep both it and you safe, use Divergent Knockback (which gives more knockback distance) as well as Enhance, which also effectively gives you LMP if you use Anomalous Holy Flame Totem (grants additional projectiles). Can also toss in a Blind gem as well, albeit a blinding Animate Guardian (just equip him with a Redeemer chestpiece) is probably better.

This isn't really a practical way of dealing with map mod curses, but it works for enemies who curse. Most importantly, it works with any class/ascendancy, and leaves your ring slots untouched, while also providing some additional defense besides just the curse immunity. And also some nice life regen too!

Just a simple question, why does he have more than 10 times damage i do? We have basically the same gear (you can input a 6-link and set gems to level 20, doesnt do much)

after failing the feared twice on boneshatter I have to ask: what non meta builds can do the feared currently?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 04:21 PM PDT

    Hello everyone

Attempted the feared twice this league and it was super hard for me using a strike skill. I'll revert back to my original plans (before new gem reveals) of playing scorching ray + searing bond (2m dps with nerfs). However, before signing on with this plan, gotta ask the community: what non meta builds can do the feared?

Not looking for builds that cheese their way with millions of DPS, but builds that can sustain around 4 to 5 million DPS. Expecting to struggle doing the feared but not having an impossible time around it.

Will be surprised if you guys recommend builds that have to stand still to dps.

How are cold dot builds this league?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 08:00 AM PDT

    Hi,

Ive been playing glacial hammer slayer this league and it has been going pretty smooth. Problem is, its very click heavy with the way i built it and my rsi is flaring up. Wanted to ask how cold dot builds are doing with all these changes? Im considering making one.

Also, is it possible to use cold snap as my main skill instead of vortex?

    Thank you in advance.

    SSF Unarmed Builds

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 07:25 PM PDT

So, while playing in a small group private league (like 5 people) we've managed to have a Facebreakers and a Rigwald's Curse drop between us. I feel like unarmed in what is essentially SSF is too hilarious a time to pass up, and am looking for viable builds that use both. My preference is for an actual melee build over a totems build - I was looking at maybe a Frenzy Raider but I'm not sure how viable it'll be without Hollow Palm.

Suggest a fast clear budget build to enjoy white maps 3.13 style

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 03:52 AM PDT

    Hey guys,

I was enjoying the Expedition so far. Now I decided to start playing the league and I want a flameslinger style clear build: budget fast clear. I don't care if that hits a yellow maps ceiling, just should be mindless fast clear. I want to be able to do blighted maps, legions, fast chain maps. What would you suggest?

Stuck on getting more damage for SOs, is the big upgrades the only way left?

    Posted: 06 Aug 2021 03:49 AM PDT

Anyway for me to get more dmg in before I have to start doing the big upgrades? e.g +1spectre chest, awakened gems, 10ex wand

I can kill things fine in end game for now, but its still kinda slow and ideally id like more dmg without sacrificing my current defences
