PSA: Logbooks DO NOT drop from chests. They ONLY drop from Runic Monsters (big skull markers)

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 12:05 PM PDT

So many people saying things like "I opened like 20 chests and didn't get any logbooks like 50 maps in a row!" or equivalent nonsense. They only drop from runic monsters. You want a bunch of logbooks? Only target the skull markers.

    The year is 2021...

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 07:39 PM PDT

The year is 2021, you're browsing reddit spamming F5 waiting for those juicy patch notes. You refresh Twitter. Bex tweets patch notes should ready within the hour. An hour passes, no patch notes. You spam F5 some more and there you see it "3.13 Ritual League Patch Notes". You click on it so fast it triggers your RSI, but that's okay you're used to the pain by now. You start reading the notes. You get super hyped about ritual, maven and the atlas passives, they look so cool and strong and you're glad you can finally choose your endgame. You read some more, holy shit they are bringing harvest back in full force without the burden of having to manage your garden. You are now rocking back and forth in excitement thinking of all the niche builds you can finally craft items for again.

League launches and you get to maps in 4 hours because you're an alpha Chad gamer whose been playing for 5 years. You start building up your currency and completing your atlas. You incrementally progress on your League start character because we have harvest again and you don't have to worry about buying upgrades.

A week passes, you've nearly completed your atlas and unlocked most of your atlas passives. You're having a blast farming legion in New vastir, Harbingers in valdos rest, harvest in haewark hamlet, incursion temples in Glennarch Cairns, and bestiary in Lira Arathain. You beat awakener 8 and move on to maven, it takes a couple tries but you finally get her down. You feel accomplished.

2 weeks pass and you move on to juicing your maps even more and start running 100% delirious maps target farming your favorite atlas passive and obtain insane amounts of wealth. You watch Ziz die to Oshabi on his 8k life 6k ES character after mocking how bad of a boss she is. You laugh to yourself saying "haha what a noob, try to die less than I do" as you die to a yellow rat while unveiling mods in research. It's the best league ever and most fun you've ever had playing PoE.

3 weeks pass and you've been harvest crafting gear for your new build and leveling it. You're getting close to facing awakener 8 on it. After spending 150 exalts in harvest crafts you finally got that last t1 modifier on your gloves you've had in your tab for weeks. It's time to face awakener 8. It takes some time but you finally bring him down on your new build, Crit whirling blades bleed MoM Inquisitor. You're happy with yourself being able to make something crazy like this work. You log off PoE for the day excited about what builds you'll be making in the future. Life is good.

The year is 2021, It's been a rough last couple months. Everything you enjoyed doing has been nerfed. No more juiced mapping, no more juiced atlas passives, harvest has been nerfed beyond useable to make niche builds. You're browsing reddit in anticipation for the patch notes not as hyped as you once were. It's been 2 hours since the notes came out. You sigh and click the link "3.15 Expedition patch notes".

You start reading and see that all skills have been nerfed in damage by 40-60%. You keep reading and see that mana multipliers and reservations have increased by over 100%. You keep reading as your worst fears are becoming a reality, somehow they made the already bad flask system even worse. Awakened gems are now barely useful save a few. Movement speed is gutted on pretty much all utility items and ascendancies. Ailment immunities no longer exist without a good chunk of investment. Spellslinger basically got removed from the game and CoC and CWC builds are almost unplayable. You're devastated about these changes, but you still haven't given up hope just yet.

You fire up PoB telling yourself well if GGG wants me to play slow ill play slow. You start mapping yourself out a tried and true slow king HoAG Jugg. You finish the tree and move over to the skill section and put in your 6link HoAG. You notice that the mana reserve is now at 153% and think to yourself this can't be right. It's finally starting to set in that maybe the game isn't for you anymore.

League starts and you decided to try and shove it in GGGs face and go with a meta cuck build. Toxic rain raider. You get to the mud flats and die 3 times to charging Rhoas. You think to yourself this is okay the game just wants me to play slower and be more reactive. It takes you 9 hours to get to maps because you're no longer an alpha Chad gamer and your damage has been reduced by 60%. You get to maps and have an epiphany. This isn't fun. This isn't why I play the game. I don't play PoE to be slow. I play PoE to be strong and fast.

You get to yellow maps and hit a brick wall in damage even with a cluster jewel setup because those have been nerfed too. You finally say to yourself this isn't for me I can't keep doing this and log off.

    The year is 2021.

Some stay dry and others feel the pain

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 07:27 AM PDT

Damage effectiveness is the one of the main sources of build diversity and GGG is destroying it.

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 09:23 AM PDT

One of the key elements of build diversity is damage effectiveness of the skills and sadly many people don't even realise this because it's looking like a small detail.

Back in the day, we had HoWa Cobra Lash, Cold Scourge Arrow (My favorite) and many more builds with amazing playstyle and 9000 IQ setups. People were using this skills with very different damage types because they have amazing playstyles and just worked smooth like a well oiled machine.

Nerfing the damage effectiveness is a silent way of forcing people to use the skills in a "archetype" way and smart and creative ways of using this skills with an untinded route gets heavily punished with low damage numbers.

So in the end, despite the free socket system of PoE and massive skill tree, every skill almost has a single and true way of building it with 0 diversity.
In my opinion, GGG should bump those numbers up so people can start enjoying their wicked and mem style of gameplay with their favorite skills and appreciate each others unique builds.

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 03:11 AM PDT

If you try to place explosives and a potion triggers, it cancels the placement and its driving me nuts. It happens a lot on my pathfinder with "Used when charges reach full" and Nature's Boon.

Can Grace and Determination be 35% reservation just like Discipline?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 06:57 PM PDT

I don't understand why GGG is so against buffing this two severely underused aura. Evasion and armour are both defence modifiers, just like Discipline. Discipline actually gets used a lot in ES builds, meanwhile Grace and Determination are hardly ever used in evasion and armour stacking builds. 50% is way too much to commit to.

    Why nerf Inquisitor and Elementalist?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 10:02 AM PDT

Back in 3.12, there existed a problem with these Ascendancies. While I don't know the exact numbers for Inquisitor (someone who is more knowledgeable about this, please feel free to chime in and give your feedback), Elementalist was one of the absolute worst Ascendancies in the entire game. Strange, given it was the second most popular Ascendancy at the time, but this was due to the fact that 87% of all Elementalists were using Carrion Golems as their primary 6 link skill, with another 11% using Raise Zombie. The highest 'elemental' skill didn't even crack 1%. The ascendancy was only good for one single thing, and that was the fact that you could summon more Golems if you played an Elementalist. That's it.

The very next league, 3.13, the Elementalist and Inquisitor got a major rework, alongside the Deadeye, and all three were put into a much better spot than before. Build diversity began to arise with these three Ascendancies, making them fun to play. Carrion Golems for Elementalist were still popular, but a wave of new skills found themselves in relevance, while Inquisitor got new life breathed into it, and people were excited to tinker and experiment with the new tools given to these previously 'dead' Ascendancies.

This league, Inquisitor is at the very bottom of playrate in all leagues, excluding SSF HC, where it narrowly beats out Assassin. Elementalist finds itself near the bottom in all of these leagues, excluding the regular Expedition trade league, where, yet again, the builds are dominated by Golems, due to the ability to purchase Primordial jewels/chain. It's definitely in a better place than it was in 3.12, but it's regressing back towards it's previous state.

So, why in the world would there be nerfs to these two Ascendancies. Rather, why remove their ailament immunities completely, while allowing an Ascendancy, such as Raider, to at least keep 50%, on a node that already applies exposure and reduced accuracy while phasing? I'm not saying to remove the Raider's avoid ailaments all-together, but, to just remove all ailament immunity from Inquisitor and Elementalist... why?

    Best Defensive layer in PoE

Have people started using alternative support gems to what they would normally use?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 02:29 AM PDT

Outside of combatting power creep, you might recall that one of the aims of nerfing support gems that added more damage was to balance out the opportunity cost of using utility focused support gems.

From a brief look at Poe Ninja, it seems that, overwhelmingly, builds are still using damage support gems that add multiplicative bonuses as the their primary links. This begs the question: do the support gem nerfs engage the player and encourage them to use other support gems? Or, is damage maximization still the overall priority?

Have you started using other gems?

Blighted map bots are getting out of control

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 11:43 AM PDT

So I've been farming blight maps for a while, and decided to sell some in bulk (15 ish tier 14+ blighted maps). I've been constantly pmed by necromancers, all around lvl 90 ish, who whoop the maps. They all wear the same gear, no MTX, common names such as "ihasiza" or "xtempale". They come in, stand still on the waypoint, and they wait for you to trade them the maps. It's clear they're bots: they don't answer any messages, and you can mess around with them taking out the map and putting it back in the trade windows, they just accept again. I messed around with one (removing and adding the map) for around 5 minutes until i got tired.

They don't buy the maps in bulk apparently, maybe they do one and then buy another, I don't know. I am yet to see a REAL player buying blighted maps. This is absolutely insane. How is there no way to report this shit in game?

Struggling to survive vs expeditions, and have open gem slots? Try counter attacks + life gain on hit

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 07:50 AM PDT

Say there's 20 monsters in front of you spawned in a pile, who are hitting you. 20/20 lgoh is 49 hp, say you have some on gear, we'll round to 50 for simplicity. So if you hit 20 enemies for 50 life each, that's an instant 1000 heal. Not bad.

    There are 3 counter options:

Reckoning - on block with shield, .4 sec cooldown, cone shape

Vengeance- chance on getting hit, 1.2 sec cooldown, circular aoe

Riposte- on block with dual wield, .8 sec cooldown, strike one enemy

Going off of these, obviously if you can't block, vengeance is the only option. However, it is by far the worst of the set- Long cooldown, and circular aoe around the player, instead of into the enemies. Middle of the pack is reckoning. Very short cooldown, can make shield builds incredibly tanky. The best however is riposte. Link it to ancestral call melee splash(Noted that ancestral call doesn't work on triggered skills. Guess this is only decent if you have the glove mod or +1 strike notable), and suddenly you're not hitting 20 enemies, but 60. Instant 3000 heal? Hardly able to overlook that.

If you have a decent amount of damage, it may cap out leech rate, which typically takes a moment to get going again after you lose health.

Obviously this all only works if you can hit things, so you need to be using a melee weapon and have a good chance to hit. If you have a claw, this gets even better, since it will use it and heal with it based on enemies hit.

If you want people to use utility gems, isn't it possible to make them a bit more useful?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 06:34 AM PDT

If you want to slow down the game so that we don't one shot everything, how about giving us some crowd control capabilities, that people could use on their secondary skills (instead of boosting their main's damage) and perhaps even on main skill links in the future?

I didn't take any time to think of the following are balanced but just as an example:

-Knockback also roots enemies in place for 0.5 seconds at the end of the knockback.

-Mana leech also increases enemy ability cooldown by 100% as long as the leech occurs. 50% less effect on unique enemies.

-Blind also decreases enemy attack/cast range and chance to block by 50%.

-Life/Energy leech also decreases enemy regeneration by 75% as long as the leech occurs.

-Chance to flee also hinders normal enemies by 75%, magic by 50% and rare/unique by 25%. Increases duration of debuffs on enemies by the same amount.

-"Unknown utility gem" also causes enemies to have 90% less critical strike chance and multiplier for 2 seconds.

-Major bosses that were immune to some effects (e.g. taunt, knockback) are now immune only if they were affected by them recently and these effects have 50% less duration and effect on them.

Transcendence Exsanguinate MTX doesn't match advertised video in game

Did anyone else buy this MTX and notice it really looks different, we aren't just talking lighting, it has almost no ground effects compared to the showcase video, limited or no fun lightning squiggly on the ground, the flowers almost look like completely different flowers they look more flat in the video but are kinda basic looking more 3D ones in game.

I tried swapping between renders and changing any and all of the graphics settings with no real improvement. turned bloom down and up as well.

it truly looks like the video is showcasing a different edit/version of what we ended up with

Guess what kind of damage I deal

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 06:32 PM PDT

Um, GGG, why did you change ctrl + shift buying at Lani?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 08:08 PM PDT

I honestly don't know why this changed, guess it's another weird bug that this league seems to be riddled of.

You used to be able to hold ctrl + shift to buy a full stack of a currency from Lani, and if you couldn't buy a full stack, she'd sell you as many as you could afford in one go.

Now, for some reason, you can only buy a whole full stack, otherwise you get a "you don't have enough currency" message.

"Emblematic" atlas passive doesn't work correct with stacked splinters after 3.15?

    Posted: 05 Aug 2021 11:34 AM PDT

Previously, when you kill a general from legion encounter, it dropped around 8 splinters and each splinter had a 1% chance to drop as full emblem, but after 3.15 patch they stack, and the "Emblematic" passive now makes that whole stack has 1% to become an emblem. So, if it does drop as full emblem, there is no splinters dropping from a general, only 1 full emblem. Is it supposed to work like that or is it a bad coding?
