So now that patch notes are out what are you guys league starting/ what is the meta? Posted: 14 Oct 2021 02:40 PM PDT Me personally I would love to start minions but I'm not too sure considering it doesn't seem like they got much love this patch. Strongly considering cold dot or maybe totems but I heard having good clear will be important so I'm unsure. EDIT: wow this thread blew up, tons of good discussion. As kind of an afterthought if anyone has some ideas for a fairly Tanky build that can crush blight with investments (really wanna do ravaged blight maps) abs maybe some simulacrum that would be awesome. Was kinda considering FP totems but idk if that would be Tanky enough, also was considering vortex cold DOT but kinda lacks single target. [link] [comments]

"I recommend making a character with fast clear speed" - Chris Wilson, Q&A Posted: 14 Oct 2021 12:54 PM PDT ZiggyD: "Scourge the league mechanic encourages clearing maps very fast to scourge items faster. [Like incubators. - me] But what about characters that don't clear maps fast?" Chris: "They won't have a good time with the league mechanic, that's intentional. Then again, if you build a character with slow clear, you're going to have a miserable league in general, not just in Scourge. I strongly recommend making a character with fast clear speed" Very relevant for this sub. Remember Chris' advice this week, I don't remember him saying "make sure your build for the league is..." ever before. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 10:34 PM PDT So whoever your target is linked to will cast your skills when he hits something. Well, if you both link to each other, it's basically better than cast on crit since every hit is guaranteed to trigger a spell. Just imagine 2 players with barrage triggering dozens of spells per second without needing crit. And also, this could be an awesome discharge party play. The guy that's hitting the monsters is also gathering all the charges, and at the same time triggering discharge. God I need a friend to play poe with. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 03:04 PM PDT So I know we don't have any information on it yet, but does anyone know if any good hybrid es attack builds? I was thinking Inquisitor could be nice, but I'm at a lose for what skill to use with it Edit: apparently it has spell and lightning tags, potential use of empower /enhance depending on the quality bonus Edit2:Another thing to consider is, what is the attack speed of the swords? Is it based off your existing weapons? Gotta make them fast or there is a unique sword that does the same deal without sacrificing ES Edit3: keeping in mind that the skill gem has a ln energy shield cost to it, the spirit drinker helm might be tough to use, if the swords carry through zones and hopefully towns, you'd only need to take off the helmet to cast once. Worst cast you have to take it off every zone, big pain, but not a build breaker. Here are the weapon stats, seems like it could be strong. One handed has higher crit and attack speed then Howa. Discharge Ignite Chieftain for 3.16? Posted: 14 Oct 2021 10:01 PM PDT I'm considering league starting this build. I enjoy the Chieftain ascendancy and would like to take advantage of the ignite buffs. Anyone considering this that wants to discuss? What's the clear speed like? Have never played this build so any thoughts or feedback or even warnings would be good. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 11:47 PM PDT I'm really excited about this skill because it's basically a skill I've wanted. I wanted a bonfire orb where you would hit it with fire damage, and it would create a burning ground based on this damage. I was hoping that's what flame surge would become, but instead, we got this tornado thing. Here's some ideas that are going through my head for it. Kinetic blast - KB is great for clear, but lacks single target. Could tornado be the answer? You probably want to use wandslinger so that spell damage applies to attacks too. That way, you build a nice wand, and then go all in on spell damage, projectile damage, and probably crit. It might not work with the AOE explosions though, so it's something to think about. Maybe barrage would be better? Inquisitor spellslinger with blazing salvo and fireball - Make a beefy fire wand, and go ham with projectile damage, spell damage, and then use tornado for single target. Probably pick up the first crit node, battlemage, and then go for pious path. Inquisitor fanaticism - slinger with flame wall and tornado for clear, and then do something that has a ton of projectiles like blazing salvo to feed the tornado when you need extra damage. Cremation - Cremation does projectile damage. It's not great for clear, but will tornado be better? Probably not. Poison tornado with venom gyre and whirling blades - Use venom gyre, throw down a tornado, whirling blades to shoot a bunch of projectiles all at once. Tornado should hit often. You get plaguebearer for clear also. Icicle mines + pyroclast mines + tornado - mines are typically pretty strong, and they all used to scale with the same nodes. Can you use icicle mines to clear, and then throw down a tornado and load it with projectile damage from icicle mines or pyroclast mines? Frost blades - Frost blades is great for clear, but single target drops off. Can you drop the tornado behind your target and then proc the projectiles off of the target to hit the tornado that will damage your target now? Spark - Spark has weird clear and really changes depending on the terrain. Maybe it can fully load a tornado because you build into pierce anyway. You don't worry about bouncing the sparks off walls because tornado will take care of the damage. Sire of shards - ball lightning? You can clear great with sire of shards, but then what about single target? Position yourself well around a tornado and you should be able to hit it a lot. This probably could work with other things, like winter orb sire of shards, EK sire of shards, magma orb, etc. Spectral shield throw - It still has great base damage. Does tornado make it easier to get going with a hit based build than before? If you use pierce, you should be able to drop the shield in front of the target and then use hydrosphere also to try to double up as much damage as possible on a hit based build. Lightning strike - It's a fun skill anyway. Does tornado make it better? Spectral helix - Good base damage. Does this make it hit more often? Kintetic bolt with pierce and volley - Good but weird clear. Does tornado solve singe target targetting issues and damage? Lancing steel - fires a ton of projectiles. It's probably good to play - tornado, lancing steel, keep going. Anyway, would love to kick around ideas. [link] [comments]
Discussion: 3.16 Corrupting Fever no longer snapshots damage Posted: 14 Oct 2021 05:45 PM PDT From the patch notes:
Let's use this thread to discuss the future of builds that use Corrupting Fever as the primary damage skill. How will you adapt to this change? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 08:51 PM PDT Ek is one of my favorite skills for quite an long time, last time i felt really good about it was abyss league with that helmet for extra stuffs, Yall think tornado could be what it's missing single target wise? Either putting EK in a juice glove or helm or the tornado since it has more tags? [link] [comments]
Which build could be better in 3.16 - Armour-stacking vs Strength-stacking Posted: 15 Oct 2021 02:45 AM PDT I am always looking for builds that are really tanky and can also deal out respectable damage. After the changes introduced in 3.16, do you think armour-stacking or strength-stacking will be better? If anyone could also provide insight on the feesibility of an 'Iron Will' strength-stacking CoC/CwC build would be great. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 07:03 PM PDT With Versatile Combatant having changed and being put on the skill tree, all you need is a measly 32% attack block chance while using Versatile Combatant and Glancing blows to cap out your spell and attack block at 50/50. The math is as follows: 32% attack block * 2 because of Glancing Blows = 64% attack block. 14% of that attack block gets converted to 28% due to Versatile Combatant, and then doubled to 56% because of Glancing Blows Getting 32 attack block is very easy to achieve and would barely use up any investment from the tree (if you're in those areas) or gear whatsoever (a shield + 1 block cluster or a staff etc.) and would free up a lot of passive points to invest in other defenses / damage. I'd love to hear thoughts on if this would be a good idea to build around, I'm already kinda thinking of a champion that uses the new willowgift and some fortify passives to get 100% spell suppression in conjunction with this neat interaction but it's still in the early days and we don't have the passive tree / mastery info yet :) Happy Theory-crafting! Edit: After doing a little extra math, 50% max attack / spell block where you take 65% of the damage from blocked hits can come to 17.5% less damage taken from attack and spell hits, which is not too shabby if you layer it with some of the other new defensive changes we're getting this league. Posted: 14 Oct 2021 10:14 PM PDT Hey all, I'm trying to figure out what I want to start off with in 3.16 (aren't we all?) and I find myself with an inclination to hit things with a proverbial big stick in some way. Problem is, I haven't looked at that part of the tree in a while, so I'm not entirely sure what good options there are. The obvious is some flavor of Slam - probably Tectonic Slam Chieftan since it's a style I know I haven't done before - but for all I know there might be a good Strike skill build that would scratch the itch better. For reference, I'd like something that I could reasonably scale up to tackle Sirus and the Maven - stuff past that like the Uncharted Realms fights or the new uber-endgame content would be nice, but it's rare I stick with a league for that long, doubly so with Endwalker coming out in the middle of this one, and if I do I'll probably be willing to build something else at that point. Thoughts on Burning Arrow League Start? Posted: 14 Oct 2021 11:35 PM PDT Wanted to play Ranger with the new changes to both Burning Arrow and the skill tree. Not sure whether I go raider or deadeye though. The whole tree part will have to wait once we get our hands on the new mastery thingy, but I think it would be a fun, safe start that can clear pretty good on minimal gear investment. (at least I hope so) [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 08:49 PM PDT According to patch notes, The following Support Gems now have a 120% Cost and Reservation Multiplier (previously 140% for Attacks, and 100% for Spells): Cast on Melee Kill, Cast on Critical Strike, Awakened Cast on Critical Strike, Cast while Channelling, and Awakened Cast while Channelling. So now spell will cost 120% higher? [link] [comments]
Was CoC nerfed again big time? Posted: 14 Oct 2021 11:28 PM PDT So it seems to me, with the change to CoC´s cost and reservation multiplier (from 100% to 120% for spells) and the passive tree rework which pretty much kills the large thread of hope placement, CoC got nerfed pretty heavy again? Chieftain strength stacking (BV fire or VD DD) for 3.16 Posted: 15 Oct 2021 01:29 AM PDT

Posted: 14 Oct 2021 05:32 PM PDT i kind of want to do ignite hexblast with blackflame but i know it's ritual locked item so it might be a little before i can acquire it, so i'm wondering if i could start hexblast and just swap over to it once i get the ring, thank you [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 05:49 PM PDT Havent run one of these before but if always wanted to try. just wondering if it will still be viable this league? Obs might need to wait for more info on the reworked tree but anyone have initial thoughts? [link] [comments]
Theory: Energy Blade Trickster Posted: 15 Oct 2021 04:20 AM PDT Everyone's head is probably spinning, like mine, trying to come up with the next interesting thing after having watched the reveal yesterday. Where did my head spin to? Energy Blade Cyclone Trickster
So how and why is this build potentially bad? Well... with the deletion of Dodge survivability may be an issue but I think with the changes to Evasion the build will still have an opportunity to be somewhat tanky with a reasonable investment into defenses. The build should certainly sustain well, at least while clearing, but bossing may be an issue and, as with most evasion/dodge based builds, it will likely be prone to one-shots. Even with the large number of unknowns I think this is where I've settled and what I'll be rolling with. I look for any and all opportunities to make builds around Harness the Void and Energy Blade certainly seems like a great reason to pursue such a build yet again. Thoughts on what we know already that I could implement to improve the versatility or scaling of this build concept? [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 10:10 PM PDT As someone who loves to play with friends but doesn't want to dedicate an entire character to supporting, the new Intuitive Link gem has definitely caught my attention! I would love to run a character next league that can map quickly by itself, and also be able to run Intuitive Link when I group up with a friend. Note that I am in no way a build maker and my ideas should be taken as random thoughts with absolutely no validity to them. So my thought is just to run a spell and self cast it when I'm solo, and just gemswap to Intuitive Link when I'm grouping up. I'm not terribly concerned with this being a mega-efficient build, it's really the playstyle I'm concerned about. One idea we had is for me to link Frost Bolt to my friend who will be casting Ice Nova, to help automate the combo. I had my eye on a Bloodslinger as a league starter and linking Exsanguinate seems fun. No clue if it is viable or not, but it just seems fun to have exsanguinates shooting out of my buddy as he runs around. So with that being said I would love to know what some more experienced players and build makers think about this gem, and some potential ways to take advantage of it. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Oct 2021 10:01 PM PDT I really wanna try and make lightning warp totems work for my 3.16 league starter. I've been theory-crafting it for the past couple of days but I can't seem to push the damage past around 500K Shaper DPS without completely dumping my defensive stats. I know there is gonna be a passive tree rework coming with the new league so the hope is whatever I come up with here will at least kinda translate. I'm also banking on the hybrid ES/Armor nodes we get really coming through in terms of overall survivability because otherwise this guy is gonna be Wraeclast's favorite punching bag. Here's a link to the Pastebin of what I've got so far: https://pastebin.com/0aYKMvtv [link] [comments]
Are there any Spark build outside of aurastackers archetype? Posted: 15 Oct 2021 03:55 AM PDT I know the carries in duo also use spark. But are there any viable solo builds that use sparks? [link] [comments]
Looking for a build that can do simulacrums easy, and doesn’t cost too much Posted: 14 Oct 2021 04:28 PM PDT I spent about 120ex on my TR pathfinder, most content in the games isn't too hard. For some reason I keep getting wrecked between wave 19-20. My build isn't really that tanky but I have vaal haste up a lot to cap my dodge but I get one tapped a lot in last 2 waves constantly. I tried using HH, torrents reclamation, different combination of things and I just can't survive enough. So I am looking for a build that can easily survive them but have enough damage that can get +5 rewards at least. I tried max block builds in the past and they are great for surviving them but the damage always falls flat to get enough stacks of rewards for it to be worth it. I really enjoy running them in between leagues in std because they are very rewarding, a lot of monsters, can throw in some music and just go to town for hours. For me it's one of the funnest content in the game besides running blights. Any recommendations would be much appreciated. I'm looking for something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg but both cheap and expensive options are fine, but preferably something under 100ex [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Oct 2021 03:21 AM PDT With chain that makes it so you can barrage the tornado with lightning arrow, hitting the boss twice for every arrow (three times if you also add hydrosphere) + you charge the tornado too Dunno how possible that is but maybe it's even possible to squeeze an archmage on the tornado as it's a skill you cast only every now and then, allowing for the mana to regen I just really want GGG to release the tree data to start messing around in PoB [link] [comments]
Posted: 15 Oct 2021 03:07 AM PDT I'm struggling to find all the sources of reduced/less buff/debuff duration. Does anyone know if it'll be possible to do this now that we have a source of 100% less debuff duration? [link] [comments] |
