Tip for Inquisitors: Low investment curse and reflect immunity using buffed nodes and pantheon effects

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 02:45 AM PDT

As of this patch, Inquisitors got a huge buff on the Pious Path ascendancy node:

50% increased Effect of Consecrated Ground you create

On top of the change to consecrated ground that gives 50% reduced effect of curses, this gives Inquisitors a 75% reduced effect baseline. Another new change to this patch is the Soul of Yugul pantheon, which was buffed from 20% to 30% reduced effect of curses on you. Combine these together, and it completely negates the affects of curses (Note that they still apply to you, but their effects are negated).

To top it all off, as an added benefit, the Soul of Yugul pantheon also provides 50% reduced reflected damage taken (up from 25%). This combined with the Elemental Mastery that reduces reflected elemental damage taken by 60% gives full elemental reflect immunity as well. A lot of inquisitor builds include at least one of the elemental clusters, or path close by it. These two combined opens up a TON more map mods that are able to be run, which is amazing QOL when farming up.

None of this is groundbreaking of course, but I hadn't seen any mention of it, so I figured it may help some people out, since Inquisitors seem pretty common this league!

Scorching Ray Totems + Searing Bond is actually pretty strong.

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 02:04 AM PDT

After finishing my first build and wracking my brain trying to figure out what to play next I re-read the patch notes looking for anything that popped out. The ignite changes are what prompted my first build, but the changes to Scorching Ray and Searing bond really caught my eye. Yes EE is effectively dead for these skills, and EO is literally dead (they can't hit therefore can't crit whatsoever), but their base damages were raised so enormously (exactly 58% more for both) that it doesn't even matter. In addition, no longer needing a 4l to proc both EE and EO and just straight getting almost your full damage on every monster is a huge plus.

The first manner of business was to scour poe.ninja for ideas, and that's where I came across this build that was putting out some pretty great DPS. It has a solid lifepool, but not much in the way of layered defenses, and therefore not an amazing effective hit pool according to the PoB calcs tab.

The next step was to lose some DPS but gain some tank, and for that I fit in both Determination and Defiance Banner, and switched to a Staff (Searing Touch) for the option of 2 6ls and an easier time getting higher block and spell block without Glancing Blows. Unless you have a recover on block shield and other layers of defense, I just hate Glancing Blows with a passion so that went right out the window. With a few block wheels and notables and a small cluster jewel I ended up with 64/49 Block/Spell Block with Rumi's Concoction up, while maintaining a good health pool (solidly less than before, but the massive additional armour and actual block mixed with Molten Shell actually increases our effective hit pool substantially.

The theoretical damage is very solid, sitting at right about 6.7M total dps between 6 Scorching Ray Totems, and 1 Searing Bond Totem. In order to not remove an SR totem from your pool, a Phantasmal Searing Bond with at least 10% quality is necessary.

The gear is mid-tierish, at about 5-6ex total including a 6L Soul Mantle, a 6L Searing Touch, and a Viridi's Veil. 6L armors and weapons are rather cheap this league outside of the most meta and expensive bases due to the Scourge mechanic providing a solid way to 6-link items. I paid 60c for my Searing Touch and 65c for the Soul Mantle. Viridi's was about 100c. I don't have any video yet as I'm still very early on in the endgame leveling scheme of things (level 68 so far), but I can say for sure that it was one of the absolute smoothest leveling experiences I've ever had in 8 years of playing this game.

With more investment you can quite easily achieve 10M total dps, with Awakened gems, a +2 Soul Mantle, and an Empower on your Searing Bond instead of Inspiration. An Empower 4 on the Searing Bond will bring you from a 25% more mult on your 6th link to a 103% more mult; literally more than doubling your dps just through 3 levels of the skill. That's how absurdly the skill scales with gem level.

Here's my current theorycrafted PoB, which is essentially just a modified version of ICE's original gear and character, so most of the credit goes to them ,I just made the build a bit tankier and changed up the gearing and skills a bit: https://pastebin.com/vMV3UstV

Once I'm in endgame I plan on making a full video on its performance.

My attempt to compare Nugiyen (ghost dance) and Palsetron (iron reflex) poisonous concoction pathfinder for a league starter (work in progress)

    Posted: 26 Oct 2021 01:05 PM PDT

Disclaimer: i am at the brewing stage in POB. no playtesting has been done. wanted to share this attempt to assist others and generate discussion. i tried my best to do an honest side-by-side comparison. please let me know if i made any mistakes.

    I. Method

In order to create an honest side by side comparison, i had to make some changes to configuration, skills, tree, and item tabs.

    • Configuration: nugiyen has focused, poison stacks 10, wither stacks 15, and boss sirus enabled. palsteron doesn't have any configuration changes. i decided to remove focus, remove stacks, and turned off sirus since this is closer to the league start general experience of most players.
    • Skills: palsteron's version has projectiles set to 9, nugiyen has projectiles set to 5. i set projectiles to 9 on the assumption that GMP and volley are the highest DPS supports available. no other changes to skills was made except for setting the gem/gem level on poisonous concoction equal for all.
    • Items: both versions are using mostly rares. palsteron has unique gloves (DPS) and nugiyen has unique boots (spell suppress). palsteron's gear is from random drops, nugi uses POB crafted rares with high rolls. i chose palsteron's gear and removed uniques since most players will not have access to these items right away.
    • Tree/Jewels: nugiyen has level 87 and 95 trees with/without clusters. palsteron has level 78 and 87 trees with/without clusters. nugyien uses 4 high roll base jewels that boost HP/DPS by a signficant bit. a timeless jewel boosts his ST. palsteron uses 2 base jewels with medium rolls. i changed all base jewels to a single copy of a common jewel.

    II. Results

Here are the end results - no frenzy charges, no plague bearer, using baseline gear, poisonous concoction only. I was honestly pretty surprised, I wasn't expecting that pathing to the duelist side at less levels would give equal HP and more DPS, but apparently it does.

    Palsteron level 78: +DPS, +armor, + block, +attack rate, +phys reduction

    Nugiyen level 87: +suppress, +evasion/ES, +ghost dance, +mana reservation

how do you guys interpret this? it looks to me like just on paper, based on numbers the iron reflex pathing is superior. but not having played it i don't know if:

    1. there are HP/mana issues with the higher attack and lower evasion
    2. getting hit more often for less damage feels better/worse compared to getting hit less often for more damage.

so that's the results of my analysis so far, what are your thoughts? did i miss anything?

Ghost Dance (87) Iron Reflex PF (78)
    Total DPS 157k 185k
    Attack Rate 2.05 2.35
    Life 4.6k 4.6k
    ES 874 (with gear) 0
    Mana 906 704
    Evasion 24k 0
    Armour 9.8k 32k
    Block Chance 35% 52%
    Phys Reduction 62% 84%
Spell Suppress 62% (110 with gear) 39% (87 with gear)

Exiles that have reached end-game (or at least T16s)…what’s your starter build and how’s it performing?

PSA: If you've been sleeping on Life Recoup, don't, it's surprisingly good, especially with Evasion or Block

    Posted: 26 Oct 2021 08:13 AM PDT

My league starter WoC Chaos-convert Occultist isn't the tankiest char in the world, but man I tell you that even with only 70% evasion the Life Recoup from the tree (6 nodes, 50% damage recoup) feels fantastic considering I have no other sources of leech (except when atziri flask is up) or regen. I really only start dying once Scourge is ticking up to the point where they can 2 shot me without recoup having a chance to work, otherwise I'll be constantly bouncing between half HP and full during a tight scourge encounter.

If you're not aware of the mechanic, there are 6 nodes on the tree that give you "Damage recouped as life", up to a maximum of 50%. As far as I know (feel free to correct me) this is only from hits, so DoTs won't trigger this. The damage is regained as life over the course of 4 seconds, and it appears to be post-mitigation. So if you take 1000 damage from a bunch of hits around you, 50% of that is gained back over 4 seconds so you've suddenly got 125 hp/s life regen. This may not sound like much, but it stacks. As you're regenerating, more hits come in, more damage is recouped as life, and it keeps going.

As any evasion-based character knows, being able to avoid hits while regenning (previous via leech/lgoh/lgok mostly) is a big part of the survivability as you know you won't get hit much but when you do, it hurts. I wanted to see what it was like if I dropped those 6 nodes and previously when I could run 100 stacks in a tier 10 map without concern, I was dying on my first or second scourge shift consistently, even with Atziri flask up giving me some solid life leech.

So if you're on the top side of the tree, getting some evasion (via Grace + a little reservation efficiency, mostly) and life recoup feels fantastic. Block would also work, too, I imagine.

    EDIT: Updated math

    Chains of Command build idea

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 02:12 AM PDT

Hey guys, correct me if im wrong but I think Chains of Command might be hidden op this league. Usually the pain with this item was actually getting those minions, that's why u were going for Scion with Pathfinder ascendancy and 3-4 worm bottles. With new gloves - Gravebind, ur Animate guardian spawns those like crazy on basically every minion kill, which makes using 1 perfectly fine and viable. U stack abyss jewel for some dmg and minions move speed, add feeding frenzy and here u go - zooming 24 weapons around u. Dps of animate weapon was always really good without investment, we can also just go for Voidforge.
I theorycrafted a little in pob, but since im a total ape when it comes to that.
    What do You guys think?

    General's Cry vs. Rage Vortex

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 04:24 AM PDT

Currently running my own okayish cyclone berserker leaguestarter. Starting to farm some currency and I want to respec into a build that can take on bosses pretty well. Right now I'm torn between general's cry and rage vortex. Both look pretty fun to me.

I'm wondering if any of you guys have an opinion on which one is superior or just more fun to play. Don't have much of a budget now but that's not a huge factor because I'm fine with farming for a while before transitioning. If anyone has any POBs to their recommended builds too, I'd love to see them.

Also, it appears that shield crush was nerfed, but to what extent I don't really know. So, if you recommend general's cry, do you recommend the shield crush version? Or maybe blade flurry?

    Any help is much appreciated.

Looking for a tanky build to transition into from my berserker league starter

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 03:07 AM PDT

This is my 2nd league and i started with a Slamming berserker. It works really good but i want something tankier. My goal would be to run any Heist without a chance of dying, optimally with decent dps. Is there any build you can recommend? Changing ascendancies is possible in this game right? I was thinking of some juggernaut variant

What is my best bet for Cyclone Shockwave?

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 02:57 AM PDT

Hi guys, I really wanna play Cyclone Shockwave but I'm unsure of what Ascendancy to go for

I've seen an Occultist variant with STR stacking but that's way out of my budget, then I see Chieftains, Champions and Slayers but I'm not sure which would be the safest bet for endgame.

If you have any experience with it, I appreciate your help :)

What are the strong looking builds for end game farming?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2021 06:10 AM PDT

I'm looking to liquidate my TS Occ and build something that can live through end game farming. I'm about 400 deaths deep and I've just had enough lol. Awakener 8 down, shaper, Elder, all that with the build so I cant say that it was a bad starter, just really really hate how squishy it feels. Has anyone had any luck with a tankier build so far this league? Have about 20 ex to work with if I liquidate.

Theorycrafting a Dancing Dervish Guardian.. Scaling Flame Link. Hear me out.

    Posted: 26 Oct 2021 04:39 PM PDT

Just want to go full hypster to see if I can enjoy this league.

The idea is to stack respectable life to scale Flame Link flat added damage, and take advantage of Dancing Dervish's ability to never die while being damageable (for the purposes of link mastery), so you don't blow yourself when/if they expire.

The added damage is insane. Since PoB doesn't support link skills yet, I emulated it on the belt:

You and nearby allies deal 229 to 343 additional Fire Damage with Attacks (lv 22 gem) + You and nearby allies deal 425 to 425 additional Fire Damage with Attacks (5% of 8.5k HP)

It seems pretty good in theory. Reached ~4M DPS and 8.5k HP with 1k regen and some block.

Would love to collect some inputs and/or improvements to this. I hope the gameplay isn't janky.

    Strongest bossing builds this/last league?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2021 09:23 PM PDT

Looking to start planning my second build now that I have farmed around 25ex worth of items. I missed out on the last couple leagues so I really have no idea what the meta was like, but I am looking for a build that is capable to clearing all bosses in the game. Budget is not too much of a problem since I won't be rerolling for a bit longer and I plan to farm up more currency in the meantime and in the future. What were the strongest bossing builds last league or this league that are still strong?

Edit: My current build I am playing is a storm brand inquisitor (lvl 89 atm). I like the brans playstyle so I also wanna see if theres any strong brand builds for bossing since I've heard that storm brand is not great for it.

Question regarding arakalis fang and scaling the damage

    Posted: 27 Oct 2021 03:07 AM PDT

Outside of the new shield to link more gems to the skill. How do you scale arakalis? I assume plus 1 minions don't do anything as it's not a gem. So the only option is generic minion dmg I assume? If that's the case what dmg numbers are reliable to be hit?

Looking for general improvement suggestions for my Ele Hit Raider!

    Posted: 26 Oct 2021 10:41 PM PDT

Hi guys! So I kinda went offroad for the first time this league, not really using a guide, just kinda piecing together what I can from poe.ninja builds with a similar approach. As it is now I do alright in whites/low yellow maps, clear very quickly, don't die too often, but my boss DPS is a bit lacking, and I do tend to get oneshot, so I haven't tried pushing maps too hard yet, and I'm just wondering if there's any suggestions as to good improvements to make.

Obviously things like 6 linking my weapon and chest are a priority, and I also want to get Asenath's Chant at some point, but outside of that, looking for maybe some passive tree fixing, or suggestions for other pieces of gear to look into.

I'm unsure whether to go for a 6L Death's Opus or try to get a +3 bow, and chest I'm unsure on, thinking maybe Daresso's Defiance, but not sure if that's the best option.

As for auras and things, I have quite a few, but can only really run Precision and Skitterbots because of mana constraints, Vaal Grace is my only real defensive aside from 6 portal meta, so dunno if there's a CWDT I should try to fit in.

Anyway, yeah, that's about it, any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!

Anyone have a ice nova CoC build that is modified for 3.16?

    Posted: 26 Oct 2021 03:45 PM PDT

My 2 other friends are playing cyclone builds, 1 is doing impale/crit and the other is lightning coc, i want to jump in with them and spin to win but do ice nova/cold coc. Does anyone have some good build plan that is 3.16 modified that is all good to go for the most part? 90% of the builds i do myself don't turn out to be remotely functional towards mid game, so looking for something that actually will get me to red maps (i'm casual so that's a goal of mine) and possibly beyond.

So here i'm, i would love to have the pros and cons of the autobomber/ walking simulator you know and how they feel in endgame with dps, defences, mapping and bossing.

(I'm mostly thinking about HoT and Death Aura since they do explosion and stuff, but still can't decide)

my league starter did well, i cleared the atlas, got all maven points, sirus 8 down, even did cortex deathless.

played as bane/ed occu and it's time for the next build. i want something a little faster (doesn't need to be super zoom) with an all around clear/boss dps. something i can bring to ~10 mill dps with investment.

    don't wants: mine/traps minions

someone has experience this league with hollow palm, either raider/zerker ice crash/ground slam?

budget wise i have some room, 3 raw ex in stash, liquidate occu gear maybe another 4 ex + a house of mirros in stash (hi stacked decks)
