EE is dead for ignite. Long live . . Scorch?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2021 02:24 AM PDT

Scorch is an Elemental Ailment associated with fire that causes the affected target to have their Elemental Resistances lowered by up to 30%, based on the Fire Damage of the Hit, for 4 seconds.

So, not quite EE levels, but still stacks with Exposure and curses like EE did.

"But you can't both scorch and ignite!"

Well, not with that attitude (or with Leadership's Price or The Interrogation). A few ways I see:

    • Rolling Flames Fireball: High base damage, can throw it in a trigger setup (arc brand, trap, mine, whatever). Get some increased non-damaging ailment effect and maybe even . . .
    • Legacy of Fury. Just for Scorch effect or as an enabler (assuming you're moving a lot) - can be boosted by it's own scorch effect and non-damaging ailment effect.
    • Situational Secrets of Suffering - basically Alternating Sceptre (melee ew) or Replica Malachai's Artifice (1-link ew). Both would be really hard to get enough Scorch effect/crit to matter.
    • Exothermic Tower Shield. Reactive, fixed amount (10%?) but it's something. Can also be boosted by non-damaging ailment effect

Any way to fit these in an existing Ignite build? Was thinking maybe Divine Ire CWC Fireball Elementalist with rolling flames and EO. But maybe there's a better way to do.

[3.15] Martyr of Innocence Vengeance Gladiator (14:45)

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 05:31 AM PDT

Looking for a build that's able to run 6 man boss carries such as pure chayula breachstones.

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 04:38 PM PDT

I did some carries a few leagues ago when I went for a level 100 char, and thinking about doing it again, but this time instead of leaving the boss I kinda want to be able to nuke the boss.

what kind of options are there for that type of stuff? i think I've seen berserker do it but I'm unsure what type fo skill they would use.

    Righteous Fire + Death's Oath?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 12:33 PM PDT

Has anyone made a build like this work, or seen someone who has done this? I am thinking with the changes to DOT this might be a reasonable thing to consider now.

Non ignite Armageddon brand? Should have a huge buff.

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 10:11 AM PDT

Armageddon brand received a huge buff to its base stats in order to compensate the ignite variant for its loss of an ignite multiplier, and while the base crit and hit rate were reduced, the numbers still look like a very significant buff to the skill. By my math, if previously you had a non crit arma brand hitting for 100 damage, it would hit 4 times in 3 seconds (cast rate of 0.75) do 400 damage. With the new numbers for the base damage and the 30% more damage to enemies the brand is attached to mod, it should now do 100 * 1.3 * 1.54 = 200.2 per hit, 3 times in 3 seconds now for 600.6 damage, about a 50% damage increase. Obviously the 1.3 more multiplier assumes lvl 21 gem and in reality the math will depend on how many more multipliers you already have, but the base damage alone more than makes up for the decrease in hit rate.

My question is, how good are existing non ignite arma brand builds? Since that is the baseline to compare with, if they are currently playable then in 3.16 they should be quite strong.

    Dark Pact league start?

    Posted: 10 Oct 2021 12:55 AM PDT

Unless patchnotes shower elemental minions with buffs, I'll most likely go with a Dark Pact approach. Consulting poe.ninja has given me the impression, that it relies heavily on crit and lifeleech for damage and survivability.

My question now is how the leveling would look like, where it's difficult to have access to either. I'd also like to spend a considerable amount of time at lvl 70 for heistfarming.

Would that work well, or would I be better served with a different build?

Can Ice shot Deadeye be League starter?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 11:23 PM PDT

Started last League with ele hit raider and finished with 600ex budget build, so want to do similar with ice shot in this league but someone told me that without voidfletcher and lioneye jew's it wont work (cant run t10 or higher) and they extremely expensive early in league. Is it truth or that person just exaggerating problem?

SST CoC Ice Spear meme build

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 02:13 PM PDT

Hi all, I wanted to give the 3.15 CoC builds a try and figured I'd make a hipster/meme build. SST is currently extremely easy to get a VERY high crit chance using an ES shield with seething fury. Similarly, Ice Spear doesn't require a particularly large investment into crit for nearly maximum crit. Build is not fully optimized.

SST can crit a LOT of times with a single throw due to SST chaining. Lioneye's armor is used for the 7th socket for more damage. Deadeye for more chaining/projectiles/mark effectiveness.

The build clears fine, but boss damage is rather pitiful (as SST only crits once per throw in this instance).

The PoB effective shaper DPS is ~813k, no flasks, all projectiles. But realistically not all projectiles will hit. Due to SST chaining, for map clear the DPS is probably much higher.

Possible improvements include synthesis rings, much better ammys, elusive boots, etc. But honestly I don't really care farm those up.

    Enjoy!

    Arakaali's Fang minion build questions

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 01:25 PM PDT

I've been messing around with Kay Gaming's Profane spider build cause it looked cool, but it seemed like it was missing some defensive layers so I tried to add that by moving some talents around and switching out some less build defining uniques. A main question I have is if Death walk from Bubonic trail boots will stop me from using desecrate to summon spiders since it pops corpses. I hoped it would pop corpses to kill writhing jar worms to summon spiders but I haven't found any definitive answers on that.

    Here's what i've got so far https://pastebin.com/09Fv1SGB

    Ignite melee for 3.16 ?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 02:44 PM PDT

I know the patchnote is not out yet, but, with the changes made by the manifesto, all skills with a big base damage% from weapon become potential skills for ignite, like bleed.

Is there a world where an ignite melee build with an Oro's sacrifice works?
Oro's sacrifice have very big base damage for a unique, with only fire damage, it's a two-handed weapon, it gives the opportunity to have potentially 2 6L ,One bossing skill (like heavy strike? 313% attack damage) and one clearing skill.

What is your opinion on this?

    Flicker Strike Questions

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 03:36 PM PDT

    Hello all.

I have been playing PoE since Heist league so I am rather new and do not know that much about the game and builds, etc, etc.

I always league start TR Raider and then transition into whatever flavor of the patch raider build is dominating Poeninja. However I want to switch it up for 3.16 and do flicker strike instead.

My main question is; Can you league start flicker strike under normal league settings?

Now before you get your pitchforks out and yell at me to wait for patch notes, I am mainly curious about if a build revolving around flicker strike can carry you through acts and deep into maps with relatively low investment.

To some, the answer may be obvious but for me it is not as I don't know what makes flicker strike so good or if you need 10ex+ worth of gear to kill anything.

Looking for one mechanic-focused cheap-ass builds for 3.16

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 04:59 AM PDT

    Hey guys :)
3.16 is coming, and I'm looking for some ideas for builds that can farm mechanics on a small or medium budget. The two are blight and simulacrum. (Looking for a separate build for each one).

For blight my thoughts are on some cheap summoners like maybe cold skellies (takes <10 ex to complete the whole build, even less now when you dont want to get kingmaker for ag), worked well for me with tower annoints and proper tower placing. Maybe there is something more cost-efficient.
Simulacrum: here is where it gets a lot more tricky.
In 3.15 I had a death's oath / ca occu. It was bad. Clear is basically provided via profane bloom explosions, and its good, but whenever I got w19-w20 kosis I knew I was fucked.
The TR-champ pob from darkee that gets posted looks really good & tanky, but i wonder if the damage/clear with TR will be enough to get at least 5 stack of rewards on each wave? Maybe there are some guys that can suggest different skill that can be played while keeping the same defensive "architecture" of the build? I'm no build creator so cant really come up with something myself.
(Also still waiting for uber-simulacrum getting revealed, if its being added).

Taking all suggestiongs. (Except minion builds like so/aura-stack so for simulacrum, this shit costs too much to be good)

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 06:29 PM PDT

    How is it for clearing?

Considering it as league starter for 3.16 but not sure how the clear will be.

Any build good in STD with legacy explode chests?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 05:14 PM PDT

Hello, so I am done with league, have been for a month now or so, but I feel like playing. A lot of my builds in STD are all scuffed because of all of the changes that have come the past few leagues now. I have a heap ton of currency and a bunch of legacy items. One of them is an additional curse/explode chest with high ES and all 6 white sockets.

I was wondering if there is a way to find out what good builds that could work with a chest like that in STD. I made it for a HH BV build a few leagues ago that was self curse, but now, from all the changes it doesn't work anymore. So I was wondering what are some current builds that can make some use out of it.

    Any ideas would be great!

Simple relaxed build 1-3 buttons max

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 04:31 PM PDT

    Hi all,

Just looking to play casually since learning to play Poe.

What are some builds that have an easy playstyle with limited keybinds meaning no "piano" key playing playstyle. The build should be quite survivable and DPS enough to help clear maps and bosses

Basically I just want something easy, smooth and relaxing to farm end game stuff.

    Thanks

3.16 theorycraft - Ele Hit Snipe ignite. 5m dps with low-mid investment.

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 04:19 PM PDT

    https://pastebin.com/dRh99nQ3

The stats: 4.7m ignite dps, 7200 life + elementalist's Bastion of Elements

The premise: Elemental hit remains relatively unchanged in 3.16, but ignite damage has been buffed 2.5x stronger. Even though elemental equilibrium is toast, elemental hit is one of the few remaining skills that can benefit from elemental overload.

The playstyle: Ele Hit socketed in the bow for map clearing. Snipe from Assailum helmet for single target. Snipe has about 5.5 aps in this build, so it will take about 1 second for a full channel. It should be possible to keep up Ele Overload with Snipe alone, but you can also use the ele hit socketed in bow to proc it.

The investment: The build functions on multiple dirt cheap uniques. At the end of week 1 of Expedition, each of these uniques were <20 chaos. This build doesn't even need a 6 link for single target.

    • Assailum
    • Pyre
    • Dyadian Dawn
    • Combat Focus jewels
    • Kaom's Heart
    • Ngamahu Tiki

The cluster jewels will cost you a bit more. However, many of the mods on medium cluster jewels now provide very similar levels of dps to the build, so they are not too difficult to roll an acceptable modifier. Even if you are just using medium clusters with only 1 notable, you will only lose about 10% dps.

The weapon is literally just a bow with attack speed + dot multiplier, then craft on %ele damage with attacks. A +3 skills bow is optional, and will only increase your map clearspeed!

I would consider league starting with fireball ignite, then transitioning to ele hit ignite once you can afford assailum , pyre, dyadian dawn, and combat focus x2.

    Could VD be viable again?

    Posted: 09 Oct 2021 03:47 PM PDT

VD was the first build I ever played and had an itch to play it again but 3.15 kind of gutted everything about the build. With the new mana efficiency changes that affect spellslinger I wonder if it's viable again. Damage would probably be low still.
