Dual Nebulis solo build with no Purities

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 02:48 AM PST

Seen this concept here and there in comments but not anyone else who has actually tried it out so here's my sharing on my Inquisitor which, through Brass Dome, Leadership's Price and passives, hit 90% ele res to dual wield Nebulis, without PoL/PoI nor a shield, getting 1200% inc cold damage with CotB conversion.

Disclaimer: Expensive and probably not that great for the cost, but it works. Still needs more optimising.

    Build Concept:

My latest attempt to min-max something off a particular concept got a huge boost when Gwen granted me a Mageblood and I was able to try out a concept that caught my eye in the patch notes. With the new Brass Dome (up to 5% max ele res) and more passives granting max res on the tree, it is now viable to hit unbuffed 90% max ele res as a solo player. Namely, without cluster/timeless jewels, you could use corrupted Brass Dome (5+1%), max roll Leadership's Price (3%), Prismatic Skin cluster (3%), Soul of Steel (1%), Anointed Flesh (1%) and anointed Crystal Skin (1%) for a total of 15% to all max ele res.

Anyone who has been part of the Herald/Aurastacker era knows the power of Nebulis with cold conversion, and with no shield requirements I was able to wield 2 as a solo build (almost all dual Nebulis builds on poe.ninja are meant for group play with an aurabot). This makes no further investment in increased damage needed.

Leadership's Price introduces new restrictions and opportunities. While balancing stats is a pain, alt ailment conflux means getting max crit is trivial if you are able to get high Brittle stacks. So going crit was a natural progression, and crit multi became an effective but expensive secondary damage scaling.

For defences, 90% max res and high armour from Brass Dome makes armour investment pretty natural. Nonetheless, the lack of flat life on gear (due to dome and all the uniques) means that getting a high life pool is challenging. There are other options, but I chose to go Inquisitor with Corrupted Soul to have more eHP. Inquisitor also comes with really good recovery and the playstyle ends up really similar to a Guardian Aurastacker, with fantastic effective hit pool and good recovery (around 2k Life and 1k ES regen, not including Divine Shield). The recovery also make going perma RF and LL for pain attunement feel safe for a good DPS boost.

Finally, the elephant in the room: Do you need Mageblood? No you don't, but gearing to get enough res might be a bit of a pain and you will probably have trouble getting much chaos res. Also, Mageblood provides so much armour and movespeed.

    Assessment:

Pros: Build, as expected, is very tanky, with max res, high armour, recovery, crit immunity, major ailment immunity etc. No March of the Legion or friends needed.

Cons: Frankly, the DPS is mediocre for the level of investment, though I'm sure I'm not building this optimally. Arc feels nice for normal mapping but most likely the correct thing to do is to respec for brands instead. Alternatively, you could probably drop Determination and go Hatred/Wrath but I do enjoy the very forgiving tanky playstyle now.

Can you play this on a budget? Technically it's doable with just normal Brass Dome and a non-max-roll Leadership's Price if you use the cluster jewels (Prismatic Carapace) or get max res nodes on your Glorious vanity. But probably not advised.

Anyway, happy to hear suggestions on improvements!

With the announcement of the Endless Delve event coming back on December 3rd, what are the strongest delving builds this league?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 02:54 PM PST

In looking at poeninja I'm seeing these as deep delvers -

    • Stormbrand Templar
    • Vaal Lightning Strike Raider
    • Bane/ED Occultist

and a couple Saboteur's/Necro's in the top spots.

What are you thinking about rolling for the 10-day event?

Cheapest(under 50c) T16 farming Dancing Duo Occultist Guide

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 01:13 AM PST

Hi guys here is my super cheap version of Dancing Duo Occultist Build, I use this build to deal sirus A7(forgot the watchstone)with 150c budget. It only costs 5c to start, 20c to T9 and is good enough to farming T16 maps on a budget of less than 50c. And has multiple growth stages from 5c to 1~2EX to handle Sirus with 2~3M damage, has 150-200% movement speed, not bad survivability (7000EHP + 4 endurance charges + 75 all res + 9000 armour + enemy is dedalitated 20% less damage + malediction 10% less damage) but not that tankly, and as all Dancing Duo Build, can deal any map accompanied by any affix

In this Build, I'm using Link skills that no one else is using, so it will require some extra input, but the payoff is generous

Damage based on curses, resistance reduction, aura, flat damage, there is not much increased damage (only 170% minions damage) , so gem quailty that increased damage can give a huge boost

And depending on your preference, there are multiple versions: sacrifice some damage to get immunity to aliments; add some actions to get higher damage; no actions only movement but low damage; Sacrifice an aura buff and get about 1000 ES The other advantage is that, unlike other Dancing Duo Builds, I chose to get as many attributes as possible from the talent tree and bound equipment, and not apply any Cluster Jewel to avoid the need for specific attribute affixes, because that's really hard to get and copy, so it's a very diy friendly framework

The final version pob(With animate Guardian equipment buff and link) : https://pastebin.com/cWm1m7Zm

    Lv67 version pob for start : https://pastebin.com/0KPWn4Bi

Here is the start, As any Dancing Dervish Build, this Build needs to at a minimum of level 60 (you need level 60 to equip The Writhing Jar):

The Dancing Dervish cost 1c or use the Dancing Duo (requires Lv 65) 5c, please choose the highest DPS possible

4 Green Triad Grip cost 1c, converts all Dancing Duo damage into cold damage. At the very beginning it does not require 4 green. Use crafting table to get 2 sockets version, use 25 chroma to get 2 green, and get 3 sockets through crafting table to return 2 sockets until you hit green, then 4 green

The Writhing Jar * 3 cost 3c, at the very beginning, there is no requirement for rolling, if you get a good -20% flask used Stygian Vise belt, you can use two -20% flask per use flask to summon DD(with some trick)

Victario's Influence, cost 1c, rolling as high as possible

The Jinxed Juju, cost 1c, use +24 str and dex

So, basically, that's all we need, for 5~10c

Another equipment is Bone helmet base to get 20% minions damage, and two unset ring base to get more gem sockets(use Deafening Essence of Fear to get 28~30% minions movement speed), all you need is res and life that not too hard to catch

So why can I get pretty good damage for a very cheap price? Here is the trick: link skill is terrible, undeniable, but Intuitive Link can keep offering and long range curse drop, with Profane Bloom, curse aura, has a longer explosion range than normal DD occultist BD, clearing map is very fast

I was using Intuitive Link to trigger Assassin's mark, Punishment, Flesh Offering, link can be overwrite by other links, in the boss stage, desecrate + Intuitive Link to get buffs, as Assassin's mark (20q) gave DD 3 power charges, silverback spectre gave 3 frenzy charges and Arena master spectre gave 25% attack speed and 50% movement speed. Kingmaker (Animate Guardian) gave +50% crit multiplier is a huge damage boost and used Flame Link to get 400 Fire flat damage is 30~40% more.

And at a higher budget, you can buy some very good abyssal jewelry at 10~20c, dex/life/minions flat damage/withered -2 all res, with Moontouched Miscreation spectre -20% cold res/belt of enchantment withered -6 all res/cursed aura elemental weakness. And through Eye of malice (Animate Guardian) to increase the resistance of 50% of the enemy can make the shaper resistance reduced to -50% or more

Wave 25-30 Simulacrum Farmer for 50 ex?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 04:51 PM PST

Basically title. struggling to find a good build that's within budget and has good survivability, damage, and play style (not Cast on death-Portal/clunky gameplay).

CoC Ice Spear seems to be squishy and I've read some cautionary tales of people not enjoying their CoC at twice my budget.

CoC FR is on my radar, might be what I go with if I don't see anyone with bad experiences on it and can put together everything on my budget.

Strength stacking Occ looks great too but implicit rings are my entire budget. Not sure if they're needed for endgame.

Looking for any suggestions as i know this community is really informed and creative. (Pls no VLS). Decently played builds would be good too. I'm not the best build maker so I'd like to refer to several profiles if I can help it.

    Thanks!

Looking for a 5-10 ex tanky build focused on bossing that can scale later.

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 12:23 AM PST

First let me say Im not expecting a crazy build that can do everything while being tanky and cheap. This is just to have fun gearing and using a different character when I get tired of using my main.

I have a juiced mapper which Im using to farm and gear it even more (CA/DO), just beaten Sirus A8. Ive just sold my PC gear (hate the playstyle, it feels so clunky) and want to use the currency on a decent build to play when Im tired of farming/running around like Michael Schumacher. I dont care if this build is the worst mapper ever, I just want to use it to smack the shit out of sirus when Im tired of doing content with my main. What I want from the build:

    • Tanky, will play this character when Im doing call shifts in my work, most of the time I have nothing to do but I need to pay attention to a few things that distract me from the game a few seconds and maybe I miss a mechanic or dont pop a flask isntantly, so playing a glasscannon build is not the best idea.
    • Boss killer is a priority, Im not looking for a crazy mapper with insane tankyness for 10 ex, I know this doesnt exist (unless you play PC/TR :3), rest is secondary.
    • Preffer to be melee, I really like Cyclone builds and dislike minions.
    • Want to scale later on, when I finish crafting my +3 bow and some endgame clusters for my main I will dump money here, but I want the build to be decent and usable with less investment.

Have a lvl 90 necro, lvl 89 pathfinder and lvl 74 inquisitor that I dont play so it is a plus reusing them, but I dont really mind leveling a character if needed, in fact I enjoy leveling.

Any suggestions for a melee build with high dps and defense?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 07:52 PM PST

I currently play TR champion, and am just unhappy with the playstyle of DoT and mana flask charge reliance. So, when I say high defense, I'm looking for something in that ballpark of defensive layering if possible. I've tried the basic cyclone build but I seemed to die instantly in things I shouldnt. Tried cyclone champion with high armor/evasion and it was alright but just didnt have the damage i'd like. Also, it is probably worth noting that I prefer builds that don't require a college degree to pilot. I'm open to any ascendancy and would like to push aspirational content. My current budget ranged 15-20 ex.

    Workshopping my Generals Cry Berserker

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 03:30 AM PST

I've been following Path of Matth's recent General's Cry Berserker build, and I've got it to a respectable place around 50-60ex investment, level 89 so most of his example tree is filled out. This is my current build:

    https://pastebin.com/qY8sjxMX

I've been able to squeak out a bit more HP and block chance than PoM had in his example too.

But I am getting absolutely smoked in Wave 17-20 Simulacrums while my TR Champion (at about 1/4 the investment) is routinely getting to Wave 25.

I know that with Abyssus and Aspect of Carnage I'm a glass cannon, but PoM claims to be able to do Wave 30 Simulacrums on even cheaper gear (presumably by just killing stuff so fast it can't get to him), so I feel like I should be able to delete a typical wave 18 pack before they can totally surround me, and it's just not happening. It's still taking a couple seconds for a pack to disappear and those are crucial seconds for a glass cannon.

Am I missing something? I thought I had my warcry/attack speed balanced so my generals cry could complete all stacks of the blade flurry but maybe I messed it up? Same with mana, pretty sure I had it balanced so it's not my rate limiting DPS factor but maybe I'm wrong? I know my totems are a major factor in my DPS but I can't always replace them mid-wave since placement speed is so slow, I'll get overwhelmed by mobs if I try.

Am I just bad at simulacrums? Any input welcome.

I think the only things you might have to change in POB are that I use all medium cluster notable passives, I have fully upgraded Lunaris and Ryslatha pantheons (I should probably change out Ryslatha for simulacrums since keeping charges is rarely a problem), and totems are only up for the first part of a wave.

Any advice welcome, even if it's "git gud."

Maw of Mischief Golemancer Ignite - Herald of Purity died for this

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 12:09 PM PST

I had a bit of traction for this build when commenting about it in the recent "off-meta builds" thread, so I wanted to share.

tl;dr: 9 ish ignite dps - Decent clear speed with Berek's Respite - Golem minion AI is super clunky.

    Sirus kill: https://streamable.com/od6c7v

    The longer story:

Some of you might recall that Herald of Purity was hit with a whopping 40% less life nerf.

This was to balance out the buffs to the ignite buffs, which gave ignite 150% more damage.

That is, HoP was previously used for their base maximum life along with Maw of Mischief for some big ignites, as showcased here.

However, Stone Golems actually have even more maximum base life than (pre-nerf) HoP.

The problem is that golems take a long time to summon (6 second cooldown, 1 second cast time).

To alleviate this, we use Liege of the Primordial, which resummons our golems every 4 second.

Additionally, Maw of Mischief allows us to only pop one golem at a time, by tapping it quickly.

With 5 golems, this means that we get around 1 pop every second, which is decent enough for clear, when combined with ignite spreading from Bereks Respite.

The rest is history. Stack gem levels on golems for more maximum life, and otherwise scale ignite damage.

    PoB for the curious: https://pastebin.com/8pVPDyHb.

    Ignite is busted this league..

Cant decide what build to start with

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 06:56 PM PST

So I wanna make it to the end game for the first time this league, and I don't know what build I should play. Im torn between (Blade Fall Blade Blast....Toxic Rain Raider....Righteous fire Inquisitor) Which one would be the easiest most fun build to play? Blade fall blade blast seems awesome but seems like it would be slow at end game mapping, and righteous fire seems kind of slow at mapping as well since you walk around and then some enemy's survive your righteous fire and then you shoot them with your fire beam, and that's seems kind of slow, at least from the videos I saw, and I don't know much about toxic rain. So which one of these builds would be the best most fun build to start with as a new player like me?

Need help making my general cry more tanky

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 05:06 AM PST

Hello all, I've been using path of matth general's cry Blade Flurry build, it deals a lot of damage and I'm enjoying it, but I die a lot , I have 4.2k life and 81% resistances and around 50% physical damage reduction but for some reason I die a lot, now I took some time to figure things out and I think this is due to the body armor and the helmet, the body armor takes down around 400 life and the helmet lets me take 40% increased damage, I need some alternatives or a way to deal with it, thanks in advance

Tanky and insane single target dps Poisonous Concoction Pathfinder showcase. Help me minmax my already powerful character.

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 01:03 PM PST

    Hi everyone

My PC PF was my league starter and I had a blast progressively upgrading this character, my single target (probably the build's weakest point at the start) is now by far the build's strongest point, and comparing my first Sirus to Sirus now is always a fun time.

Sirus kill A9 (old, got some upgrades since then) - https://streamable.com/xtpmve - kinda forgot to Vaal Blight

Maven kill - https://streamable.com/yyoiq4 - excuse me for being bad, the fireball blocked my view of the beam. Also got a bit unlucky with Tailwind proccing late and not getting full frenzy charges

With that said, I am looking for upgrades to the build in all shapes and forms, but I'd prefer to prioritize tankiness over damage at this point. It is a tanky character, Iron Reflexes + 77% ele res + 85% chaos res with Divine Flesh, 50% block 39% spell block, shock immune, 100% spell suppression, (could/should have a lot more life though...). One of the tankiest characters I have played, but I still.... die. I'd like to die less :D

I am not an experienced theorycrafter at all, so I am hoping there are some really obvious changes I could make that would help out. Expensive upgrades are fine, got a lot of ex saved up. This was the first league I fully tried to make my own path with my build, of course I took inspiration from multiple content creators poe.ninja etc., but I didn't just follow 1 guy blindly so undoubtedly there are really obvious "mistakes" in my character that can be improved on. I have a feeling that my passive tree could be way way way better than it is right now

I have 2 setups: one for more single target dps and one for more tankiness/mapping. For Simulacrum Wave 30 I do a hybrid between both. Sometimes I even drop the Quicksilver for a Jade Flask during certain content.

    Here are the PoBs:

    Single Target DPS - https://pastebin.com/ksvY0nUs

Tankiness - https://pastebin.com/15rXVWxQ (by default using Quicksilver, but sometimes swap to Jade flask w Curse Immune)

(differences tldr: malevolence gets swapped with Determination, inc AoE on Plague Bearer gets swapped with Vaal Blight, Phasing on Kill jewel gets swapped with Blind on Hit for accuracy, Quicksilver Flask gets swapped with Silver Flask with attack speed suffix - this flask is massive for single target).

I'll separate DPS and Tankiness in two sections because this thread is already a wall of text, if you want to skip over DPS that seems like a great idea because getting tanky is what I want to improve the most on :). If you're here to take a look at the build, then enjoy! (ofc if someone sees some obvious dps upgrade let me know)

    My DPS:

Right now, I am able to achieve 32 mil boss dps on "perfect" circumstances (Blood Rage, 3 Frenzy Charges, Tailwind, Totem, Focus, Vaal Blight, 15 Wither stacks). I normally frown upon "PoB padding" but given the nature of most boss fights (with lots of intermissions etc.) I feel like pre-placing your Totem and having Focus ready is not unrealistic at all. Anomalous Herald of Agony helps us get to 15 Wither Stacks asap.

Without Focus/Tailwind/Frenzy Charges/Vaal blight, ST dps is about 15 mil

Disclaimer: I never bothered testing how many projectile overlaps I get. I have a lot of inc aoe and just eyeballing it does look like all 11 hit. Definitely no less than 9 hit, though, in which case dps would be 26mil

Honestly when I crafted the boots I thought I had made a big mistake because tailwind wasn't up nearly as much as I thought it would. I thought 11 projectiles would make it proc a lot even with low crit chance, but apparently that's not how the game works (either they all crit or none crit!). That said, getting the crit % lab enchant seems to have fixed that. These boots are a MASSIVE boost to single target damage, way more than simply turning on Tailwind on PoB, and here's why: Procc Tailwind early with increased effect + Onslaught flask with increased effect = we attack really fast = we get the 3 Frenzy Charges through Anomalous Blood Rage really fast. I felt an absurd damage increase when I got this lab enchant simply because I get to 3 frenzy charges so fast now, and I feel like the added attack speed is a big part of it.

Blind on hit Jewel + Stibnite Flask (Witchfire Brew) give us a little bit of accuracy for bosses. I swap the jewel for phasing during mapping. Been trying to get accuracy during onslaught belt enchant both farming it myself and asking ppl for services and it's been rough lol.

    ----------------------

    My tankiness:

This is the one thing I'd love to improve above all. 4.3k life (kinda low), Iron Reflexes, 100% spell suppression, 77% ele res 85% chaos res with divine flesh. 56% block 39% spell block, endurance charges (not on bosses). Shock and Freeze immunity, and Ignite is never really scary. Curse immunity or very close to curse immunity when 5th flask (Jade/Quicksilver) is up, which is always. Crit immunity against poisoned targets. 10K Molten Shell on M1, Elusive (high uptime during mapping since I never use Withering Step, whereas during bosses I spam it).

Determination + Vaal Grace + Alchemist's Basalt Flask + Stibnite Flask + Jade Flask sometimes (if I dont mind sacrificing Quicksilver for whatever content I am doing at the moment)

Also my flask sustain is really good, and my life flask is so insane that I can outheal Shaper beams if I use it when I am below <50% hp for the extra healing from Pantheon.

I've tried swapping out Ancestral Protector for a CWDT setup for Molten Shell, which helps a bit... I think? maybe?

The most obvious weakness is physical DoT, since none of these defensive layers help with that apart from Endurance Charges, (which we get during mapping via Annoint, but not during bosses), but I only ever die to that if I am like scratching my nose and don't press my life flask fast enough. I don't think there are many DoTs in the game that my life flask can't outheal.

But I still get one shot sometimes :(. I know that's the game, but I feel like it should happen less than it does, and would love if you guys could help me find the hole in my build. Looking at EHP, physical hits seem to be the bigger problem, how would we go about fixing that?

Random Question: What are people's opinions on Iron Reflexes vs pure Evasion? I personally am not a big fan of Evasion builds in general, but while I was playing this build on a Low Budget I realized a massive weakness: Attacks that do Elemental Damage. Maps with Phys as extra Fire/Cold/Lightning were unbelievably rippy, which I would assume is not the case for pure Evasion. This issue got fixed with Divine Flesh, but yea.

Closing thoughts: I made this thread to get help from the community, but if you're someone who is also playing this build and I can help in any way, let me know!

    What’s better for bossing?

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 04:16 AM PST

I consider to play either concentrated path totem or the classic warchief totem version.

Im starving currency because the very little amount I found is invested in my skele mage that can run t16. (I hadn't even a ex drop yet)

Im looking for something that is a little bit tanky and deals a ridiculous amount of damage, but I'm no fan of pc or traps or toxic rain.

I found a Brutus sprinkler so I thought a totem build would be nice.

But which one? Or are there any other suggestions for bossing on low budget?

    Mortal Convitcion uses

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 03:51 AM PST

    Hey all. Relative newb.

So i'm trying out a Berserker and i've grabbed the Mortal Conviction talent along with Hatred. It was supposed to be Frostblades (which i leveled as) but now i'm just doing Dual Strike since the tree i built has no elemental dmg. Just defenses, speed, and crit to help with Blitz. Lvl 85, but my dmg ramps from 38k to 235k using Dual Stikes - Life gain on hit - faster attacks - multistrike - melee splash - Ice Bite. Everything is ramp, but i love the speed. I have no idea the dmg i'm supposed to be doing by this point.

But the Hungry Loop recently dropped.

What kind've super aura can i build since mana reservation is not an issue?

Only thing i've got right now is:

    • Hatred (Classic) + Arrogance (already in effect) + ?
    • Vulnerability + Blasphemy + Arrogance + Swift Affliction + Efficacy (This work?)
    • Herald of Purity + Culling Strike + Faster Attacks + Item Rarity + Item Quantity
    • Herald of Purity + Culling Strike + Faster Attacks + Feeding Frenzy + Meat Shield
    • Herald of Purity + Impale + Maim + Melee Physical + Minion Damage
    • Herald of Purity + Summon Phantasm + Meat Shield + Blind + Culling Strike

I don't really know much else. Thoughts (and maybe math?) would be appreciated.

    MF Chieftain Build

    Posted: 19 Nov 2021 12:04 AM PST

    Hi guys,

I've made a MF chieftain build and would like suggestions on how to make it better. Currently it is able to do T3 tower maps reaching 250+ scourge stacks no problem and even 300 when I juice the maps enough. I play around 3 hours a day but by no means am I a min-maxer in terms of atlas passives, scarabs, sextants etc. however I do like the builds I play to be enjoyable while at the same time relatively low effort to play.

    Background:

I had League started with a Tectonic slam Chieftain but realised that the investment needed to make it fun was too high for me. I then switched to a Cold DOT occultist, which was fun and cleared as far into endgame as I was happy with (still have a lot to do though). Throughout the league I kept seeing T3 Tower farming with the Bow Build as highly profitable but I really dont enjoy levelling and doing the acts and 2 times in 1 league is more than enough for me so I decided to convert my chieftain to an MF build.

I have never made a build in my life, ever, luckily with MF almost all the items are fixed so the only bit of theorycrafting and POB fiddling possible is with 2 items, skills and Passive tree.

    The Build:

    Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/tGLDVaYs

Limitations and reasons for some of the decisions:

    1. I chose claw because:
      1. I've never used one before
      2. nightblade and the whole elusive stuff seemed fun+ its a new mechanic for me
    2. I did not want to do Lab again to switch ascendancy
    3. Gear is pretty fixed cos of MF.
    4. I had tried to go all the way to the 2 additional frenzy charges and chaos resist cluster but it spent too many passives travelling and found the current tree to give more DPS and defensives.
    5. wanted to cap ele resistances without endurance charges even though I use enduring cry on left click.. just in case.
    6. I had tried with molten strike but found it too clunky and slow in clearing so switched to flicker because it really is one of my favourite skills in the game!
    7. I am fiddling with manually casting withering step vs trigger socketed skill craft on Main-Hand.

Upgrades/changes I am going to make:

    1. Elegant Hubris noteable I am looking for is actually the one that gives frenzy charge on hit for more consistent generation.
    2. Switch rings to ventors gambles for more quant and resistances so I can move out of those in the tree.
    3. Switch anoint to added frenzy charge when I get my next exalt for the tainted oil.

Any suggestions/criticisms would be appreciated. My end goal would be the ability to be able to do the highest tier tower maps with as much MF as possible.

    Thanks for reading!

EDIT: changed the POB to add onslaught on Kill, updated POB put.

Give up on The Squire price chasing , any solid 100ex build that can farm 30waves ?

    Posted: 18 Nov 2021 11:47 PM PST

Farmed for 3 weeks as a minion build and the shield price jump 100% , thinking is it worth it to keep chasing (current around 100ex net worth) or just start a new solid build with this budget and try some end game mechanics (I finished altas & Uber blighted map)
