Tips and Tricks/General guidelines on how to beat new Uber bosses

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 08:03 AM PDT

I haven't seen a thread to this effect, but rather than "play seismic traps" or something, can we produce some generalized knowledge on killing the Uber bosses? What has led to success and what are people's estimated minimums?

Just to throw out some thoughts:

It feels like either max res or 100% spell suppression is close to required without GG level DPS. I have had a lot better time since getting both.

DPS minimums feel pretty high. Like probably 10M unless you are insanely good at managing degen effects.

Order of difficulty for me so far (easiest to hardest): Eater, Elder, Shaper, Cortex.... (I haven't tried other 4). Cortex has different mods I think, and the list I got was nuts.

Scourge arrow Herald of ice/fire build

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 05:15 PM PDT

I really love heralds, and I want to make a bow build, scourge arrow gameplay looks fun to me but I am still new to build making. I see that scourge arrow convert 60% physical into chaos, I really don't know how can I scale this as fire OR cold damage. Any tips or ideas ?

I haven't played since scourge league because I'm a casual and I played earthshatter berserker with war crys from Quantrik, i loved it. However, I don't see anything about that build anymore, has it been nerfed? Would you still recommend it??

    Alternate EA Ballista Options

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 03:57 PM PDT

So, I was playing around with my EA Ballista. It felt lackluster and I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with it. Took a look at the top EA Ballista Elementalist builds on Poe.Ninja that also use Mageblood and couldn't figure out why it just didn't feel right.

I realized that no one I could find in the top list was using Impossible Escape, but I figured it would open up some options for me, allowing me to manual spec Hired Killer and saving all the points on the chain to Watchtowers as I could now anoint it.

While fixing that, I took a quick look at my ascendancies to see if I should consider removing Bastion of Elements in favor of Shaper of Storms. That's when I realized when I was experimenting with Occultist last week when I specced back to Elementalist, I had accidentally bricked my build, by doing Shaper of Winter instead of Shaper of Flames. I'm an idiot.

That being fixed, all of a sudden I'm a god.

I'm curious if anyone has any good suggestions for replacement on my last medium cluster jewel. Currently using Cremator and Circle of Oblivion.

    POB:

    https://pastebin.com/1qC2zJTY

And of course, any thought in general on my Impossible Escape and next upgrade options. Only thing I can really come up with other than a better helm is maybe more powerful Eater or Exarch mods.

[SSFHC viable] Critical Discharge Inquisitor 800K DPS with "Basic" Gear !

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 08:54 AM PDT

Hello Exiles, I found a broken mechanic from Jungroan, traps can work with mines, so when you detonate a mine, you will launch trap if linked with a trap, but you will say "wtf why you talking about traps and mines with Discharge" ?

Let's me explain my idea, since you can generate frenzy/power charge with traps/mines from Charged Traps or Charged Mines support, I instantly thought about Discharge

So, what is the best way to scale Discharge when you can cast this spell each 2s ? The answer is Ignite or full Crit, the problem with Ignite is that you are be able to cast Discharge each 2s when Ignite is 4s, so you will refresh your Ignite each 2s for NOTHING

So I think Crit Discharge is the best if you can constantly cast the spell each 2s, so let's explain how I get that massive charge generation

First, you will generate 15 trap per ~0.56s since my Mine Throwing is 0.56s, but there are a hidden OP thing, Swift Assembly proc for Trap AND Mine, so basically you generate 5 mine with Minefield, you can generate 6, 7, 8 mine depend the Swift Assembly rolling.

Now the second hidden OP thing, you will generate 3 Trap per Mine with Cluster Traps, let's make some math.

Let's say the average mine generated is 6, you will generate 6*3 = 18 Trap per Mine detonate, each 0.56s

So in 1s, you will generate 32 Trap, each Trap have 30% chance to generate Power or Frenzy Charge

So you can generate Power or Frenzy Charge at each "roll" from Trap, one Trap can generate Power AND Frenzy in one "roll", so

((30/100) * 32) * 2 = 19.2 charge per Second, my build has 9 charge (5 Power and 4 Frenzy), so I can HIGHLY sustain that, that's like 38 charge per 2 Second in theory, let's say even "roll" are unlucky, I can generate easily those 9

So I have the charge generator and clear spell 6L (Trap Mine), and the bossing spell 6L (Discharge Crit)

Since you generate lots of Power Charge, you will easily reach 100% crit chance to be able to crit each cast, so Inquisitor is obviously the best since you will penetrate elemental resistance, so you can invest on defensive layer on your tree !

The build can have some ajustment, in general you can play this build in SSFHC but you will have to play with a Staff for the Crit for Spells nodes, in early you need Critical Strike support since you don't have 100% crit chance, near lvl 85/90~ you will be able to replace Critical Strike for other damage support, you can replace Concentrated Effect with other damage support for more AOE to be able to play in "long range" vs Boss, dont forget Discharge scale AOE with Charge

If you asking, I took Trap Trigger Area of Effect since that will help for Bossing because all Traps has to detonate !

The build is tanky, 160% life, 78% ES, perma Consecrated Ground for life/es regen, 20k Armor with M. Shell (I included trash stats in Custom Modifiers to simulate the gear, you can even use a Tabula and get those stats)

Tooltips is 800k~ DPS with Discharge (1M7 per Discharge each 2s) vs Boss setup, even without the Trap/Mine setup that will add probably 100/200k DPS since each Projectile hit for 15k

Hope you will enjoy that Build

Any low budget map farming builds?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 12:12 PM PDT

As the title says, I want a low budget map farming build to get some currency for my next build, my budget is not too high, maybe 10ex if I can sell everything.

I just want something else than Death's Oath Occultist, just tried and didn't like it at all. Played CF champ before, it is an option that I'm considering but I kinda want to try something different.

    Open to suggestions, thanks!

    Question on champ builds

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 04:31 PM PDT

I am rerolling my level 90 champ and am trying to decide between aura stacker or ea ballista. I have 24 ex and around 700 c and wanted to know if with that budget you could get a good aura stacker going. My buddy has a ls champ and I play with him most of the time.

Any other suggestions did be ok also. Just trying to get a good tanky build with good enough dps. I started with seismic sab and have tried ele helix champ, a home brew ele now ascendant and boneahatter slayer so I have all those to choose from.

I would rather not roll a whole new toon.

Suggestions for transitioning to a smoother mapper.

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 02:16 PM PDT

I've reached level 99 as LS zerker this league, farmed up a mageblood and have enjoyed it quite a bit so far but I think I'd like to change things up now. I've started to get a bit of tendonitis in my hands due to all of the buttons LS needs to press and I want to give my hands a bit of a rest while still being able to enjoy the game.

I'm looking for a suggestion on what builds I could easily transition to without much liquid currency (10-15ex) that would fulfill the following critera:

    1. Take advantage of my Mageblood (selling it is also an option).
    2. Provide less strain on my wrists - as few buttons as possible would be ideal.
    3. Tanky enough to not have to worry about dying while playing with limited wrist movement or possibly even a controller.
    4. The ability to run optional MF gear for deli farming.

I've looked into RF and it seems like a bit of a last resort if I can't find anything else more interesting to play. Does anyone have any input on how BV feels APM-wise? Or any other suggestions for builds that would fit the above criteria? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks.

Is a General's Cry Inquisitor worth pursuing?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 04:15 PM PDT

Basically the title, but I'll add a bit more of the thinking since I'm not familiar enough with either mechanic to make a call on whether or not it's worth leveling a new character since the Corpsewalker boots just dropped for me in SSF.

Now, poe.ninja and most posts suggest that General's Cry is pretty much played 98%+ as Berserker because of War Bringer. I mean, I get it. It's a 50% more tag... but that's kinda all Berserker brings to the table in addition to Aspect of Carnage should you choose to take 10% more damage.

Yet to me, while Inquisitor appears to not be synergistic with General's Cry on the surface, there are two benefits I think are on par with Berserker if not better in the Archnemisis environment.

    1) Inevitable Judgement is a clear more multiplier allowing you to ignore all of the various +XX% to monster elemental resists, not need penetration, and free up various mechanical additions you'd normally grab (exposure, resist reduction, etc.) for more damage. Is it on par with a 50% more? Probably depends on the investment. Berserker no doubt has a higher ceiling, but Inquisitor seems smoother here assuming you crit often enough.

Fine. That's well known... but here's what I think has been missed in the discussion and where I need some help from more experienced players:

    2) Instruments of Virtue, the node that gives up to 30% more attack damage (seem familiar?) so long as you've cast 3 non-instant spells in the last 8 seconds. Well, a warcry is not a spell and General's Cry will be instant cast regardless... but you know what's also a spell? Dash. Dash has a cast time of 0.15 seconds. And since you're using it pretty much all the time, you always have 30% more damage to General's Cry.

So now we have a base of damage to rival the Berserker, assuming an elemental skill like Charged Dash or Consecrated Path depending on the Berserker's investment in Ele pen... but I think it's the last part that makes this idea interesting:

    3) Instruments of Virtue comes with Battlemage. Of course, we're not using damaging spells, so who cares, right? Well, Herald of Ice and Herald of Thunder + crit chance addition from Inc. Crit. Support both support Battlemage. UPDATE: they do not. :( And General's Cry mirages trigger those effects (to my knowledge, it appears to be an exception that works).

Alright, so here's where my knowledge falls short since I've never done an autobomber before: Is it worth attempting to also scale a herald or two to make some kind of wacky, but reasonable Inquisitor-based General's Cry character or, even after reading all of the above, are you, the experienced builder, thinking, "Just go Berserker, you adorable dolt."?

Clearly, any scaling would be generic crit, ele, etc. and not attack/weapon specific (though crown of eyes and strength scaling shenanigans w/ Iron Will + an appropriate weapon like Brutus's Lead Sprinkler are an option EDIT: scratch this last parenthetical option... forgot heralds do not scale w/ spell damage)

Given additional info in comments below, looks like you can get the extra 30% atk damage vs Berserker 80% (50% plus Berserk and atk speed on top if not CD limited) and you get the ele resist ignore... but after that not much else. Perhaps still worth it with a triggered 6L spell from Betrayal... going to have to think on it.

In your opinions, what are currently the best builds?

    Posted: 05 Jun 2022 09:38 PM PDT

Define best: Builds that are currently capable of everything, farming anything. Uber bosses, check. 100% triple beyond maps? Check. Legion farming on Glacier, good to go. Doesn't fall over when a mob looks at you funny either.

What do builds do you think fit this criteria best?

Giga Inquisitor - Spell options and general discussion

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 08:08 AM PDT

Thinking of trying my hands at a giga inquisitor following the recent post by u/JRockBC19 here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/v3odwg/gigainquis_or_how_to_tank_and_still_shred_content/

I want to explore options before I commit to a setup. Looking for a sweet spot between something that clears maps well and does decent damage when bossing, with mapping probably a higher priority because that's what I spend most of my time doing.

I think spark is the most popular option here and I'm not ruling it out, but I'd like to see what else can be used. Ball Lightning looks good to me so far, does it map well?

So here a few things I'd like to open up for discussion:

    • Those of you who tried it or are in the process of doing so, what spells are you going with (and why?) and would you mind sharing your POB?
    • What are the best 6-link setups and swapping options with your preferred spell?
    • If running Ball Lightning I think we want to run wrath (it seems like a big DPS boost?). What are some good ways of fitting wrath in this setup? Thinking of an Aul Uprising maybe?
    • I'd like to hear more about this build in general if any of you have general comments about your experience with it and how well it's going (or not?)

    Int-Stacking Wander Crafting Guide

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 06:22 PM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I'm posting here because I asked last week for some advice with crafting an int-stacking wander. Unfortunately, the post did not receive much attention but in the last week, I have crafted the build myself.

It's nothing exceptional, but I have hit some pretty great thresholds with under 100 ex invested:

    10.2k ES

    1760 int

    20m Sdps

4m KB DPS (obviously much higher with overlapping explosions)

    Level 96

    Here is the pastebin: https://pastebin.com/gJtNzDiV

I guess I'll just dive right in to the crafting steps

    Wand:

    1. Alteration spam Shaper imbued wand for 1 to 6 lightning damage per 10 intelligence mod and a suffix that is not a shaper mod
    2. Alteration spam any hunter wand for 1% increased spell damage per 16 intelligence and a suffix that is not a hunter mod
    3. Awakener's orb the two items together. Unfortunately in my two tries I did not get an open prefix, but hit t5 spell damage and called it good. If you want to keep going to get the proper prefix situation here, you can sell the wand for net profit at this point.
    4. Craft prefixes cannot be changed, veiled chaos orb
    5. Unveil either Str/Int + crit chance or Dex/Int + attack speed
    6. Bench craft the other

    Chest:

    1. Purchase fractured int vaal regalia (approx. 40c for t2, 1 ex for t1)
    2. Dense fossil spam until reasonable amount of ES
    3. At this point, you can either eldritch influence and eldritch exalt for another suffix, or leave as is and craft % attributes

    Boots:

    1. If you have the patience, recombine any int base boots until you get the Sentinel added lightning mod. Data shows that receiving these new mods are about 1/35-1/40. Note, however, that your best chances are combining single-suffix magic items together. Then, if recombining adds a mod, it can only be a prefix.
    2. Craft prefixes cannot be changed, aisling slam for a 1/2 chance of hitting veiled prefix.
    3. If veiled prefix, unveil MS+____, in my case I got lucky and got onslaught.
    4. Eldritch influence the item and eldritch exalt + annul until hitting a decent int roll.
    5. Eldritch exalt again to try to get a resistance.
    6. Craft Ailment avoidance or attributes or res, depending on whether you're running purity or not.

    Belt:

    1. purchase synth base with % int
    2. Craft with deafening essence of spite until hitting a healthy amount of resistances as well
    3. Craft prefix of your choice

    Ring 1 (curse)

    1. Purchase fractured conductivity-on-hit ring (approx 100c-2ex depending on base)
    2. Deafening essence of scorn until t2-t1 int
    3. Craft ES or -mana cost

    Ring 2

    1. Purchase fractured t1 int ring (~1 ex depending on base)
    2. scorn until crit multi + res
    3. Craft ES or -mana cost

    Amulet

    1. Purchase synth base with % int
    2. Deafening essence of scorn until t2-t1 int
    3. Craft prefix of your choice
    4. Anoint Tranquility

    Cluster (Large)

    1. Chaos spam or purchase large cluster with 10-12 passives granting damage while holding a shield for t1 int and either + attributes or + all res
    2. Reforge prefixes keep suffixes looking for Veteran Defender (ONLY IF YOU NEED FOR RES CAP) or ES if you do not

    Arakaali's fang upgrade path

    Posted: 06 Jun 2022 09:36 AM PDT

Hello, I've been reading a lot of arakaali posts and see all different arakaali experts claiming different things about certain uniques, jewels, etc... I don't play too often and don't have too much currency to spend but I'm struggling a bit with my build. I've transitioned into the aegis variant but am feeling forced to spec into glancing blows to make it feel effective. The uptime of the offerings from the queens hunger feel too inconsistent in high red maps. But even after speccing into it, it feels a bit squishy at time (mostly due to some DoT stuff without a life flask). My damage is also fine for map bosses, but even when doing a guardian map, it takes quite some time...

    PoB: https://pastebin.com/ENPHvHXz

What would be my best upgrade path / things to change to increase my damage and survivability a bit? My gear is mostly still shit (amulet eg), but I'm not sure if buying something like an Amanamu's Gaze would increase my damage by a lot and therefore be worth it short term. I've read about some uniques being a bait and debates about which uniques are BiS, so I'm lost on what to upgrade. Currently, have about 5ex to put into upgrades.

My goal is to comfortably farm sentinel'ed red maps and doing some easy boss kills (no uber / sim stuff). I'm aware this will likely cost me more then 5ex, so some idea into larger upgrades are really helpfull as well!

    Thanks for reading :-)

(To calculate DPS please read notes in the pob)

After 3 weeks of optimizing and playing this build, i can say with much confidence: This is one of the strongest boss killing characters I have ever seen in this game. In the video i kill Uber Eater in under 3 seconds.

I can recommend this build for everyone that likes multiple button builds. Uber pinnacle bosses feel like map bosses, even with 2-4 player hp, it's absolutely incredible.

While the ceiling of this build is great as most attribute stackers (my current version has around 450 mio max dps and can definitely reach 1 billion with more investment), you can get it started for maybe around 30-50 ex (Very hard to tell as i crafted most of the items myself). This is by no means though a budget build, so be aware of that.
