Another use for Helena in Hideout

    Posted: 17 Jan 2019 10:21 AM PST

Now that Helena can be invited to your hideout and basically the only thing she's there for in the end is to change hideouts and be another npc you can sell stuff to, how about this: Maybe Helena could sell level 1 gems like Lilly does? You can basically do all other things from your hideout already except buy gems; would just be a little quality of life change for those who want to get gems and level them.

Exilence v.0.9.11 - Maps, gems, linked items and more!

    Posted: 17 Jan 2019 01:49 AM PST

    Hello,

This is a release of Exilence v.0.9.11. Since our last post (almost two months ago) we've been working extensively on improving the performance and pricing mechanics.

Primary changes since our last official release:

    • Reworked pricing completely, with added support for maps, linked items, gems and more
    • Performance and stability/reliability
      • Disconnects should now be a rare occurrence
      • Reduced the amount of RAM used by Exilence by a large amount
      • More servers than before
      • Dynamic server configuration, allowing us to add more servers as needed
    • Lots of bug fixes and generalized improvements

Preview video of Exilence (old video):

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YdWM2kS4BA&feature=youtu.be

    Coming up next

    • Racing-improvements/implementations, to support future community races in Path of Exile
    • Further pricing improvements

To see a full list of our backlog, please see https://github.com/viktorgullmark/exilence/issues

    General information

Any specifics about the platform and frameworks used can be found on github as it is all open-source. We also gladly accept pull requests to this project if you want to help with development.

If you want to know all the nitty gritty details, here is the changelog

    How does it work?

A connection is established to one of the Exilence servers, which then forwards character-data from you to the rest of the group as soon as new information is received from your client. Currently a character updates every time it enters a new zone. This makes it easy for you to inspect your friends and get updates when they change gear or loot new items.

    Important

As with any beta-release, bugs are going to be found and functionality will not always work as expected. Please be patient with these things and use the links above to submit bug-reports or comment directly in this thread. Also, feel free to use the Discord(link above) to discuss ideas and give us feedback directly.

We do not yet have a code-signing certificate for the application, which means you will receive a warning the first time you launch the .exe. To get around this, just press "More info" -> "Run anyway" when it pops up, and the warning won't be shown again. We're working on maintaining a code-signing certificate for the application.

If you experience problems validating your sessionId and accountname, make sure you have a character in Standard-league with at least one item in the first stashtab. We use this to validate you if you provide a sessionId.

    How do I update Exilence?

To receive updates, simply restart the application. If an update is available, a popup will be shown once it has been downloaded and is ready to be applied.

Let's talk Atlas Objectives, was it intended ?

Let's talk Atlas Objectives, was it intended ?

I've been enjoying the league a lot. So much so I've decided to go for 40/40 challenges.

My journey wasn't easy : frustrating at time, but often rewarding. Overall I feel the road have been very satisfying, fair and lead us to explore every aspect of the game. I had a blast.

So in no particular order I achieved :

-Killing Mastermind, in every required way

-Slayed all the hardest boss in the game, including Shaper, Uber Elder, Vall temple, Uber Atziri

    -Opened 500 Uber lab Chests

    -Reached level 100

    -Delved to 300+

-Killed every Syndicate members as captain of every division, raided dozens of safehouses

    -Completed the Atlas

Today I am 39/40 and I'm left with the realization that I need 232 more to complete the league goal. It's more than twice the amount I already did.

According to Map watcher I'm over 1k">1k) maps completed this league. And that's considering I did the daily master quests almost everyday.

    https://i.redd.it/ozg44s3w11b21.jpg

I feel like I deserve my totem.

    1. But to actually unlock it I'd have to log in everyday at most for 58 days to do the master quests. With the odd double quest sometimes, maybe 50 days ?
    2. The other solution the comunity suggested was to create several characters in different leagues and level them up to maps so we can unlock another batch of daily quests (1 per league).
    3. The last one is pretty straightforward : do enough map (60% of the map or kill the boss) so you can spawn quests randomly on the atlas. But this is very random, you can get 2 quests back to back with 1 map done or nothing in 10.

So i'm left with those 3 options if I want to unlock the last challenge.

I think I'm speaking for many people here GGG, at least many of my friends :

Was those 3 scenarios intended when you came up with this challenge ?

I'm not here to blame anyone, I'm genuinely wondering if that's what you had in mind. Now that the league is well in the way, do you feel perhaps you need to tone it down ? Or maybe increase quest spawn rate.

Katak, a bit disapointed and concerned Exile.

[Discussion] Came here from coincidence, wanted to talk to this community!

    Posted: 16 Jan 2019 06:17 PM PST

I became aware of this sub through the askreddit thread where the admins listed their favorite subs. I have never played the game (sorry), but wanted to discuss something you guys might find interesting. When i was scrolling through the thread and saw an admin mention that r/pathofexile was one of his/her favorite subs, it rang a bell.

Last Summer, I worked on a zipline tour in Alaska. Long story short, this family of three ended up being one of my tours that day. I was usually with these tour groups for about 3 hours so sometimes I would get to know people well and form relationships. Anyways, this family of three was by far the coolest group I have ever had. I was talking about Rick and Morty, traveling, reddit and other fun topics with the father. I asked him what his work life consisted of, he said he was co-founder of a game called Path of Exile (I wish i would have known what that was at the time, Im a gamer, too). So yah, the dude ended up being Brian Weissman. It was only after that I realized how popular this game was.

The point of this post was to emphasize how humble and cool this dude was. He told me that he was retired so i assumed he had big bucks due to his young age. You would have never known. He was such a down to earth dude. We connected so much that I ended up getting his contact information and we have conversed a few times. His son was such a sweet kid, I remember he sang for me and then gave me like 3 hugs at the end of the tour.

I know this might be a totally lame story, I just felt the need to share. Brian is such a great dude and I only got to know him within 3 hours. I cherished that particular tour due to the whole vibe of things, it was sad to see them go!

PSA: Using the official trade site allows you to filter by how long the items have been listed. You can avoid all the items still stuck in the API from a week ago.

    Posted: 16 Jan 2019 06:29 PM PST

There was a glitch in the API exactly a week ago and a lot of sold items are still listed, it makes trading a lot more difficult. You can filter by items listed less than 3 days or less than 1 day ago.

I'm hoping GGG is coming with a fix for this because I and I'm sure a lot of people have been getting spammed for items sold a long time ago.

Herald of Agony Raider guide/showcase from delving to 1000. Boss kills included.

    Posted: 16 Jan 2019 07:13 PM PST

    Summary

Delve video: depth 820 Kurgal, depth 869 Aul, typical delving at depth 1000.

Pros: cheap and great against bosses, fast delving w/ raider speed and phasing.

Cons: clearspeed is mediocre, bad with tilesets that have many projectile-blocking obstacles (bazaar, conservatory, any map with trees).

    Build

Herald of Agony - just a skill that requires little to be effective, so I can focus on stacking life and defenses.

Evasion - the defining feature of the build and the main reason to use Raider. Unlike dodge or block, it caps at a whopping 95%, and uses a non-RNG mechanic that guarantees even spacing between hits. With 95% evasion, I can't get hit more often than every 20th attack, which ensures time to recover from hits even while swarmed by enemies. Blind and enfeeble compensate for flask downtime in long boss fights, where I still have 87%-95% evade chance (depends on the actual order of operation between blind and Avatar of the Chase). As a bonus, I'm virtually immune to attack crits because those have to pass two evasion checks.

Dodge and spell dodge - they're capped (with a quartz flask). Without evasion I'd just be a cheap Gladiator knock-off, but evasion and dodge combined is a wonderful thing. If I dodge the 20th attack that gets through evasion, I can't get hit until the 40th, then the 60th, etc. Spell dodge is just there to cover a glaring weakness.

Fortify - the main contributor to the not-getting-one-shot plan, alongside having tons of life. If it weren't for fortify, I could be a bow build with more HoAg damage and a faster ranged attack, but 20% reduced damage taken is worth it.

Other reliable damage reduction - Soul of Lunaris for clearing and Solaris for bosses, with Tukohama as a marginally helpful minor god. Taste of Hate and Korell's veiled helm mod together provide 28% phys damage taken as elemental, which is practically ~21% less damage overall from physical hits.

    Gear

Priorities: stack dodge and spell dodge (Hinekora's Sight, Atziri's Steps), find a way to fit Grace and HoAg mana reservations, then stack life, life, and more life. Get one jewel with blind on hit.

v1.0: https://pastebin.com/d51QhEjH. Week 1 of the league, uber elder and mastermind down. Skin of the Loyal for damage and Essence Worm to fit Grace; 100% mana reserved so had to use cyclone + blood magic. Gear cost me 5ex back then but worth maybe 1.5ex by now.

v2.0: https://pastebin.com/MeLNvSTB. Ghosted uber elder down, delve to depth 900ish. A 6L, 5 off-color The Coming Calamity takes care of both damage and mana reservation. Molten strike + multistrike for more hits. Double Grace Watcher's Eye to cap evasion and dodge. Capped chaos res so I can use Forbidden Taste (and so Syndicate encounters can fuck off). Total cost ~20ex.

v3.0: https://pastebin.com/hc5Jmp73. Current gear. Replaced belt and shield with elder rares for double T1 life mods, and Atziri's Steps with an incursion rare, all just to squeeze in an extra ~600 life. Added wither totems so I can drop withering touch support for life gain on hit. Total cost ~30ex.

Possible further upgrades: a fossil crafted and multimodded claw. A life + dodge + spell dodge rare chest with Aul's Uprising (Grace) would be a side-grade, pushing even more life while losing damage from gem levels.

    Delve

Regular encounters: most aren't a problem as far as I've delved. One big exception is the graveyard encounter with ghosts that spam some sort of physical spell (EK?), which is the only spell-heavy encounter in delve. I also died multiple times at deep magma fissures that spewed hounds, because I had no DoT mitigation for the stacking burning ground they left on death... until I remembered that Soul of Aberrath existed.

Ahuatotli: uses physical spells and degens, which are the worst damage types for my build. I didn't record a fairly easy kill at depth 400some, and didn't find him again until this abomination. So yea... not gonna have a video of him.

Kurgal (depth 820): his beam's physical DoT melts me in a split second if I don't stay away, and I had to switch to blade flurry because molten strike created too much clutter for me to see him telegraphing that attack. Aside from that, just stayed clear of exploding pillars and none of his other attacks are much of a problem. The purple phase is blessedly simple - he only has autoattacks that can't hit me and ground beams that I focus all my attention on to stay clear of.

Aul (depth 869): supposedly the toughest of the three but the one my build is best suited for because he's mostly attacks, with few spells and no DoTs. His autoattacks "only" deal 7-8k damage so I'm perfectly safe against the occasional hit. His projectile slice would likely one-shot me if it ever hit, but the odds are so low that I'm favored even if he uses it 10 times over the course of a fight (but not exactly HC viable). Every other attack he does can be manually avoided, just a matter of consistent gameplay to not screw up.
