[Angry thread] PoE performance Posted: 06 Jul 2019 08:42 AM PDT | Is that just me, or something went completely boom during 3.7? I used to play normally during synthesis, but the game is completely unplayable now. I'm talking like 0fps for several seconds during many different occations (especially legion-anything). My biggest complaint is, that uber elder stopped working for me. It lags for ~10 seconds when i enter the arena even though i set everything to low and resolution to 800x600, disable all MTX and use a full-potato config file (i get ~90fps in hideout in this potato mode). I used to farm uber elder regularly in last two leagues, why did it suddenly stop working? Why do i go from 90fps to 0fps so often? I mean, i would paint the frame faster with crayons (and it might even look better with how far i had to go settings-wise). And yes, i do have a SSD. There is a screenshot of the usual FPS of the uber elder fight. Ignore the arena, i got a facetank jugg so i managed to get through several phases even though i'm realistically not seeing a screen. https://i.redd.it/pr9shghsdp831.png submitted by /u/w3cko [link] [comments] | |
Buying 6-links is scary as a new user :( Posted: 06 Jul 2019 10:10 AM PDT I'm fairly new to PoE, and I've finally farmed enough to buy my first 6L item, but I've already ran into two scammers (one & two). Edit: for context, I was trying to buy a 6L windripper, but these two put in a non 6L. Sorry if this is post breaks any rules, I'm not a frequent poster and I was getting frustrated :( submitted by /u/Liquidangel [link] [comments] |
BETRAYAL GUIDE: HOW TO FARM SYNDICATE Posted: 06 Jul 2019 05:01 AM PDT Basics F=fortification, T=transportation, R=research, I=intervention → focus R and I - R = fled(pure stones) + vorici(pariah/prismatic)
- I = cameria (sulphite scarab) + gravicious(div scarab)
F and T only purpose is to feed R and I intelligence → you never do F & T safehouses - eg: Here F feeding intel for I(without jailing I ppl)
Rivalry > friendly > neutral R and I must be 2man squad only The board mustn't contain any jobless ppl(they fck up the board after every safehouse, so we get rid of them) Getting rid of jobless ppl is more valuable than getting red lines Once you have enough red lines, having one jobless guy is manageable, but having 2 is already too much Setting up the board The board is asynchronous → jun dont always show you the real state of your actual board - eg : you jail a r3 dude → the last turn in jail he appears already free and still r3 → but the reality is if he is free then he is already rank2 even if the board dont update live
Kick any1 until you have fled, vorici, cameria and gravicious → greed for vagan/elreon and by « kick » i mean remove from the board. How to move ppl : lets say vorici is in T and i want him in R - You start by jailing vorici everytime you see him(so he become jobless) → then you purge research(u jail any1 in there) → at some point vorici jobless will have a chance to get a job in R (jailing other jobless ppl competing with him for the job is a way to increase the chance he gets it )
eg: Here is tyty board for exemple - In some board jailing ppl is enough to set it up but in this case you would have to do a R safehouse but only after you kicked enough ppl to get fled into the board → a fresh R after a safehouse will have 2 dudes only both 1star so you can just jail the subordinate and the leader until vorici and fled are in.
- For cameria : you can leave korrel 1star and start jailing cameria til he become jobless (that will remove another jobless dude who will take his job) once and only once cameria is out of jail you can then jail korell.
In the meantime dont hesitate to get rid of all the other jobless ppl competing with all those key member and why explode the R safehouse ? → cause there's 2 rank3 dudes to jail thats gonna be 18turn at least if no1 kick themselves from the board why not explode the I safehouse and get cameria in ? Cause when there's not a lot of red lines no the board yet the only thing you can rely on is the lowest ranked subrdonate to appear here korell and cameria → so during an I it is unlikely a random rank3 from another division appear but if it does just do the safehouse and time it when cameria has 1turn left in jail but then again there will be 50% chance either vagan(if he is still jobless) and cameria get the job Also kicking ppl to get fled gonna create a lot of jobless dude so move cameria and vorici before starting to kicking anyone This part is a bit unique to every1 one there's no general explanation but i mean the principe is always the same you gonna jail a lot of ppl to make them leave the division and then let a jobless guy take the job while reducing the rng by jailing other concurent jobless dude, and sometimes you just have to explode entire safehouses to get key member but then it creates a lot more jobless ppl who gonna be annoying I can do a case by case review if you guys want(just dont send me a board full of question mark alright :D) You only start running R and I safehouses when you have no jobless ppl on the board or the bare minimum of 1jobless dude. Even if you dont setup your board like i said this guide still might be useful … maybe Strategy First why 2 man squad only ? - With a 2 man squad: when you finish lets say a R safehouse → vorici becomes leader → fled goes to jail but since my mastermind is always full he immediately get out of jail and he is jobless ... → since there were only 2 man in the division vorici(leader) has 100% chance to give fled a job back in R again ... → infinite cycle !
- You can do whatever you want and go for 3 man, 4 man or even 5man in R or I the guide still might be useful but you gonna quicly understand why 2man is the best setup
In the 2 man division, you want every1 to be rank3(expect vorici sometimes if pariah is good enough) The less ranked subordinate will always show up during a division encounter, with enough red line → enough ppl will appear along side him → he will be ranked up easily Once you find the leader you jail him so the rank3 subordiante become leader → when the old-leader is out of jail you rank him up too... - eg: fled/vorici turn x → turn x+1
- here i greed for 3star but thats because of the state of prismatic eclipse right now normally i gladly just take a immediately from vorici.
If the 2 ppl are exactly who you want forcing one or other being leader is useless - pariah and stones are on the same lvl this league (prismatic are better but its gated behind rng whereas pariah are guaranteed)
- sulphite and div scarab are on the same page too so gravicious or cameria being leader doesnt matter
If you encounter a leader but the subordinate isnt rank 3 yet just rank him up instead and next time you see him, he will be guaranteed rank3 cause leader never appear alone(so thats a rank up guaranteed) - eg: trying to jail gravicious here, if gravicious appear in R or F, we will lose the I encounter so we need to check if he gonna appear in I first.
- eg(2): Here vagan offer to fill up R intel, we have 36+16+16+16=84 so if we jail vorici(for +5 per turn when we see him) 84+15=99 and then all we need to do is rank up vorici without fulfilling the safehouse.
- The max you can do is 3 turn in foothills: part 1 → part 2
- This happened cause gravicious appeared at the second ecounter of the map and i could make a turn pass with the choice the last guy was giving
After blowing a safehouse, if your mastermind is full, you only need one foothills to reset the division In case of a double rank up start by the leader first so that if the subordinate change option he will appear the next encounter guaranteed anyway ← leaders are hard to find so its easier this way Frame farming Opening a zone display a certain frame rate Opening a zone for the first time always display higher a frame rate Opening the same zone over and over again display roughly the same ping UNLESS there's a master mission in there... Alva and syndicate are the 2 highest frame you will get High frame rate but no syndicate ? - Huge layout maps tends to spike in frame even when there's no alva or syndicate (eg : ivory), → checking em all just in case
- In legion, a general inside the monolith will rise the frame rate too
- Essences, abyss, breach, darkshrine, vaal side areas, rogue exiles and lab trial can raise it too
How to spawn I first ? → waiting some time help, tp in and out of the map help, being in fight help, tight layout and corner force them to spawn i believe - Intervention dance1, Intervention dance2
- eg: If you have 99% I intel you absolutly wanna spawn it first and you dont want cameria or gravicious to appear in other encounter → if you get them first you can lock the saefehouse in one turn and the fact that they wont be appearing in other encounter is like benching 2ppl thus reducing the rng and having more chance to spawn R members
Spike difference is hard to see sometimes, predictive mode help Reset Jun daily Mapping The game will always try to prioritize spawning I and R first and then either F or T Most of the time you dont wanna do F or T first, so try to scout out the map and avoid the encounter if you can, R and I are 2man division, if one is in jail the encounter wont spawn - eg : here i jailed vorici to make him easier to rank up but he still has 2 turn left in jail → thats basicly 2 foothills to run to free him
- you select elreon first cause you want his rings
/!\ Dont do R and I simultaneously, → the 2 guys sent in jail might swap out division at their release /!\ Dont instatnly do safehouses when they ready - eg: Here R is ready to go but notice cameria is jailed for 2turn → doing a safehouse make a turn pass and you need another turn to get vorici out of jail, → this means there will be 50% chance for them to swap (cameria go to research and vorici to go to intervention)
- also this will happen cause cameria is only 1star so she become jobless normally and automaticly go back to I, cause a leader(gravicious) cant be alone if she was 2star or more then all of this wont matter and we will do the safehouses instant without having to make 2turn pass in foothills.
- After 2 foothills we can do it
If leader is rank 2(this means you not jailing him next time you see him but rather ranking him up) → you can then jail his subordinate just to go faster on the intel → pass turn in foothills - notice how last turn dont instantly make a turn pass unless i interact with vagan.
How to find leader (this only become a bottleneck and a problem once you have you board rdy and start farming) To increase the chance of see the leader of R or I, lock either F or T but dont go out of your way to do so, → just accept flat intel from F or T members At some point what you do is you always have either F or T locked so you only play 3 division at a given time ← this imply you already have a bunch of red lines across F and T - Dont do this when you try to grow lines in the board
Dont need to lock anything when both leader in R and I are rank 3 already F and T are the fuel of this engine, take time to do some foothills to rank them up - Here we need to do foothills to rank T members up F and T appear in priority in foothills it looks like (opposite of map)
Before mapping i usually do foothills for a chance to get flat intel for F and or T Remember dont lock both at the same time, we only need to bench 5 ppl to increase the chance but we still need ppl to jail (ppl thats arent from R or I) There's no need to do this when both leader of R and I are rank 3 already Syndicate bugs Beside jorgin being truly immortal i havent witness any syndicate bugs → if you get 2 or even only 1 encounter in maps there's always a logical reason why : safehouses ready, jailed ppl, one man division You cant just look at your board and try to figure out why an encounter didnt happen, → cause as i said earlier the board is asynchronous which mean jun show you the updated version of the board which might not explain why encounter didnt proc → You need to plan ahead and anticipate encounter loss before it even happen ! - eg: a division that only had the leader and bunch of jobless ppl, wont appear but then show you a 2man division once you complete any other encounter. Leader automaticly recrute a random jobless dude but their need a turn for it …
Doing maps makes 3 turns passes which is just « too fast » sometimes → most of the time you wanna slow it down and thats where you need to do foothills or any other zone passed act 9 to play it turn by turn Loots Veiled stuff: to check the veiled mod press alt and hover the item - Stuff that sells: it that fled's weapons, rin's boots, leo's rings and belts, elereon's rings/amulets and vagan's weapons(any but mostly 1H).
Vorici: pariah always sell for double the price you bought it at … expect when it dont, thats why im doing more and more prismatic Fled: chayulas tanked hard at the begining of the league, thats why im doing uul-netol Cameria: had to wait a month before his scarab start being good money Gravicious: wasnt good money early, had to wait a month before ppl start Mfing i guess - Once you bulk reach a critical mass, you can do whatever you want with your price
Should get a HH when stuff sale, dont wanna sale the mirror for it List of things not to do Dont rush encounter for exemple here, i want to start with R cause i know for sure whevener i see vorici he will get jailed (pariah price is only 1ex profit and are tedious to buy so we gonna unrank him so he become rank3 faster) - If i jail him in another encounter other than R then i my R will be locked cause only fled will be in there
Dont waste encounter ! - eg: here i jail korrel for +12 intel to R(at 72%) during the first encounter (this mean atleast 1 or 2 turn will pass during the map), all you need for the last turn to pass is to do a foothills
- if you greedy or dont care and keep spamming maps, → the next syndicate encouter wont spawn a R cause it will be full.
Dont lock encounter safehouse by mistake do the quick maths before : 43+16+16+16=91 so jailing korell wont lock the safehouse Dont do catarina Dont click on the «remove rivalry» button How long does it takes? - Depends on how fast and efficient you are at resetting zone
Is it fun ? Only thing i enjoy doing in the game right now... if you have any question, please feel free to ask ! submitted by /u/TriHard_from_france [link] [comments] |

Due to currency being more readily available I've actually ran Zana mods for the first time ever, and it's great. Posted: 06 Jul 2019 12:10 PM PDT I've been playing for some time, but was never comfortable (rich enough) to actually spend money on Zana's map mods, however, due to the abundance of currency this league I was like "sure why not" and boy have I been missing out! [PSA] You might trade with someone busy on different levels, /whois exists and you should use it. Posted: 06 Jul 2019 03:36 AM PDT /whois CharacterName allows you to see if the person you're trying to contact is busy and how busy he is. It shows class, level, league and area the person is currently in. If you PM someone and /whois tells you he's on a character that is in another league, he might not be that interested in the trade. If the guy is in the labyrinth, chances are he'll take some time to trade, if he's level 2, chances are he's a bot. #TradersArePeopleToo(sometimes) I find connecting with the person prior to their answer has me trading more often because i can clearly see what he's doing and state if i'm interested in waiting for him to finish w/e he's doing whether it's a map or something else. After pasting your trade copypasta, simply press enter again (this will open @CharacterName) and replace the @ with /whois . Hoping to make trade feels less terrible than it currently is for some people out there ! submitted by /u/ZiggyZobby [link] [comments] |

[Discussion] Finished act 10 for the first time - my thoughts as a new player Posted: 05 Jul 2019 07:19 PM PDT I finished the main story (act 10) a few days ago. Since most of the subreddit discussions are focused around end game content, I thought it would be interesting to write up my thoughts on the first run through the early game while it was still fresh in my head. Part 1 Part 1 for me was fairly mediocre. It had a good start and end, but the middle section was pretty tedious, with some pretty poor difficulty balancing and plot development. I think a major problem in term of story in overall is there was no clear overall goal. In Diablo 2 for example you are chasing after diablo. Here though you are an exile with no purpose, and the plot develops through coincidences in sub quests. Act 1 was a good start to the game. Starting on the beach, fighting towards Lioneye's watch. I also found the difficulty level here good as an introduction while you have no gear. It also had a decent reason why you were progressing (to open up a safe passage to the western forest). Act 2 was honestly terrible, by far the worst act in any arpg I've played. The difficulty was far too low, being much easier than act 1 (which wasn't that hard to begin with). There was no real overarching goal for the character, apart from unlocking the route back to act 1. The story was also aimless, built entirely on a set of coincidences: - You are asked to kill 3 bandit lords, who happen to be wearing some amulets, which when combined create the apex
- You investigate the chamber of sins, where you rescue Helen and get the "Baleful gem"
- You are asked by helen to investigate some Vaal ruins, which are blocked by some roots.
- You are asked to retrieve Silks spear. You do so, but he lets you keep it (why did he ask for it in the first place??)
- Now you can get past the roots as it turns out you needed silks spear to do so
- Your path in through the ruins is blocked by a seal, which can just so happens can be activated with the apex
- This triggers the darkness. Most NPC's criticise you for this. I get what the writers were attempting here, but it doesn't work in an act made up entirely of coincidences.
- You kill the vaal oversoul. This fixes the darkness, and happens to open a path to Sarn (why???).
This act nearly drove me away from the game. Thankfully the next acts got better Act 3 was partly an improvement. The plot still had problems, mainly because by this point there had been so many different plot concepts introduced in lore writings (vaal empire, eternal empire, karui, dominus, piety, Malachai, gemling queen) that it was hard to know what was going on. Piety was the only recognisable boss, but she was a bit too easy to take down. The final boss of Dominus was a fun fight though, and the difficulty of this act was improved over act 2. Act 4 improved again. A goal for the act (killing the beast), quests mostly consistent with this goal. Meeting Piety again, and the three way fight with Piety/Malachai/yourself was fun, as was the final boss. The azurite mine is also my favourite master mission, which was introduced here Act 5 was better again. The square where citizens were running away from blackguards was fun. The fight with Innocence was great (the first fight which killed me more than once). I wish though that deadly lightning attack "looked" more dangerous - compared to his other attacks, I underestimated the damage of those small lightning bolts. Kitava was also great, the way the boss grew more dangerous until it completely overwhelmed the innocence artifact. Part 2 Part 2 was a vast improvement over part 1. It is clear the POE devs got better at making acts, based on the quality of acts 4 and 5. This continued with part 2. Also, I think the existence of an overall goal (killing Kitava), a interesting yet simple plot device (killing the beast awoke the old gods), and common allies (Sin, Lilly, Weylam) made the whole of part 2 much more compelling than part 1. Act 6 Nessa's transformation and warnings about the brine king gave a good reason to progress through the areas. The brine king fight was also great, the way the boss area shrunk with the water arena. Act 7 Much better than act 2, the three parts of this (Killing the possessed Greust, Maligaro and Arakaali) were all good. The part where after damaging Arakaali enough, it ate Silk, and came back with more life was awesome. Act 8 was my favourite act out of any arpg I've played. The battle between the Sun and the moon was a great concept (especially in a story about the awakening of old gods). The way half the act was in the day, and the other half in the night worked well. The bridge was great, transitioning between day and night as you walked across it, which both factions fighting in the centre. The Lunaris Temple was stunning as well. The final boss fight, the way Solaris and Lunaris when summoned, completely ignored you and started fighting each other made perfect sense, yet still caught me by surprise. Act 9 okay, but I was finding fighting the "depraved trinity" again a bit repetitive. Still, it was great being rescued by Lilly and Weylam, tying up the subplot between them ready for the final act. Act 10 was short but good. The final battle with Kitava, fighting with Sin and Innocence tied up the story well and was difficult enough I think (I bought a very good sword near the end of act 8, which made difficulty a bit difficult to judge after that since it increased my DPS 5 fold). All in all, very good so far. I'm now liking the maps, especially how you can just do a map if you have a spare 5 minutes. The ability to choose a map which guarantees a master on it is also great. Things I wish I knew earlier This is all probably common knowledge to most users, but are things that took me far too long to discover - You can identify many items at once by right clicking a stack of scrolls of wisdom, then shift left clicking all the items you want to identify.
- Most of the areas you don't need many healing flasks. Using quicksilver flasks lets you progress much quicker
- If you like a certain microtransaction pack, but don't want to spend all that money straight away, you can just purchase a either a point pack or a cheaper pack in the same category. E.g. if like the assassin supporter armour, but not sure about spending $100 straight away, you can purchase a smaller pack (e.g. a 200 point pack for $20). Then you can later upgrade it to the assassin supporter pack for $100 - $20 = $80. Or you could buy the $60 pit fighter supporter pack for $60, and upgrade it to the assassin pack for another $40 (each later pack contains all of the previous). The only restriction is the previous purchases must be less than 80% of the full purchase cost (so you will always have to pay at least $20 for the assassin supporter pack for example). This is all described in the pack purchase page under supporter pack notes but I didn't read that closely enough previously.
- Stash sales happen once 3 weeks Friday to Monday. See [https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/Daily_Deals#Super_Stash_Sale](the super stash sale history).
- Gems are very cheap, so it is easy to experiment with many skill combinations. I was always worried about picking the wrong gems, but it really doesn't matter. In this way, even though POE doesn't have many respecs, you can still do a lot of experimentation for each character. I never followed a build guide, and while my DPS is a bit low, I didn't have any problem beating the main story. All gems are available at the end of act 4 for sale, but it is easier to wait until act 6 since you can find all the gems from a single seller (Lilly)
- All global sources of "increased X" stack additively. E.g. if you do 100 damage with a one handed sword with cyclone, and have 10% increased sword damage, 10% increase one handed damage, and 10% increased channelling damage, you will have a 30% damage increase, doing 130 damage. However sources of "more X" stack multiplicatively. E.g. if you had 20% more damage due to challenger charges, and 30% more damage due to an Ancestoral warchief totem, you will do 100 * 1.2 * 1.3 = 156 damage (which is greater than 100 + 50%). This makes a big difference once you have a lot of increased damage values.
poe.ninja builds make it very easy to search for a build you want based on skills, weapons, skills, classes, items. You can show a heatmap of the passive tree for a given search to see the most popular passives. You can then import a build into Path of Building, which shows you how they are getting their high DPS values for example. Path of Building is also very useful when building your own character, as it shows the impact each node has on your stats. *The process of buying an item off another player is: - Find the item on pathofexile trade or poe.trade, in the right league
- Put the right currency in your inventory, and space to store the new item.
- Copy the whisper of the item you want to buy, and paste into chat
- Wait at least 3 minutes for a party invite by the seller, or a message from them. If no reply by then, look for another item.
- After the party invite, visit the sellers hideout (right click their party portrait)
- When in their hideout, wait for a trade request
- Put the currency in, check the item is what you want then accept
- Thank them, leave their hideout, and leave the party.
POE-Trades-Companion is useful for tracking purchases and sales, but doesn't work for Korean players (their chat history isn't allowed to be logged) POE-TradeMacro is really useful for evaluating the cost of items in game. Make sure to quit this after you have finished playing, as it slows down copy pasting (as it intercepts the clipboard) Things I wish were changed - Why do area maps reset? It is a pain to have to go back to an old area to find another exit, and have to re-explore the map again to find it. I don't mind the monsters respawning, I just want the game to remember where I have been. This is especially true when a path is blocked, and you need some item to unblock it.
- It would be nice if you could track when an item was put in a premium stash tab for sale. Then have a search rule to highlight items that have been there for more than X days. Would make cleaning up tabs much easier.
- For vaal skills that are just more powerful versions of the regular skills, I wish you could configure it so if the vaal skill doesn't have enough souls, the regular version is cast instead. Don't have enough hotkey slots to have both skills available.
