Is low level farming going to be the trend moving forward?

    Posted: 24 Jan 2019 05:32 AM PST

I disregarded it for the longest time because I didn't want to partake in it. However, I do like currency. I first started with low level fossil farming. I tuned my ranger into a 275+ move speed low level fossil farmer (didn't cost much, maybe 4ex) . The results were insane. I tracked the first 40-50 hours and averaged approx 325c per hour fossil farming. I figured since that was profitable I better try out syndicate farming. I did that for 20 hours, it was around 350c an hour, but it wasn't fun to me. I spent some more currency in my fossil farmer and got it up to 350c over the next 20-25 hours or so. I then did 300 t7 Arcade maps with the same build (added some MF) and it was around 310c per hour.. I was doing t16 elder burials previously. Even with lucky Doctor drop rates it doesn't come close to the chaos/per hour that low level farming does.

I'm not a fan of it, but it does make sense when you chase currency like me. I'm wondering if this is just going to continue.

How do you all feel about it?

    Discussion: Labyrinth Improvement Ideas

    Posted: 24 Jan 2019 09:19 AM PST

Lab is coming up on 3 years old and I think it's due for some small facelifts/tweaks to bring it into the modern era. One of GGG's original stated aims for Lab was for it to provide an alternate end game activity to mapping (and now Delve, breachstones, etc.) Currently it falls short in some respects and I think with small changes it could be more successful, something that is in line with GGG's philosophy of content reuse and attempting to provide maximum new gameplay with minimum development effort.

I'm aware that some players just hate hate hate Lab and wish it would go away. Give this topic a pass. I'm also not going to go too much into Lab enchantments because that's also something I think everyone realizes is increasingly a problem and a topic that has been pretty well covered by others recently.

Some ideas or topics for discussion:

    • The "no traps in Aspirant's Trial" darkshrine probably shouldn't spawn in Normal lab. It's useless and is probably also confusing to new players.
    • Since Silver Chests were revamped and we no longer have the regular appearance of a chest that always drops a Lab unique, the Lab uniques are much rarer. I feel like being able to more reliably build around something like Xirgil's Crank or Izaro's Dilemma was better -- possible solution here could be Izaro having a higher chance to drop them (maybe 10% of all uniques dropped by Izaro are lab uniques, etc.), a new darkshrine that results in Izaro dropping specifically a lab unique, putting a lab unique chest back in the silver chest mix, or adding a lab unique divination card.
    • The isolation of Lab from trading, especially for people who don't speed run 3-4 minute Labs, is becoming more of a problem as we have more endgame play options and basically none of them have a 10-20 minute lockout of not being able to trade.
    • Remove Enchantment as an option in the crafting bench (maybe costing a scour or regret or whatever) would be a nice small QoL option, especially for low level leveling gear which gets a much higher required level via enchanting.
    • Probably non-tier-1 maps should be allowed to drop in Lab outside Izaro's chests. At the time of Lab's original implementation, GGG was taking a hardline stance that tier 2 and higher maps could only drop in maps. But now they drop in Breachlord domains, Bestiary boss domains, Delves, Safehouses, etc. etc. etc. Basically every part of the endgame but Lab now has maps dropping. It's not going to break the game if someone who runs a lot of Uber Lab ends up with a giant bucket of tier 8 maps instead of all tier 1s.
    • Lab exclusion from league content should probably also be revisited where relevant. I'd be happy as a clam if I could randomly find a big bucket of Perandus or silver coins or Breachstone shards or a Sulphite chest while running Lab.
    • Daily Ladders badly need to be rethought. At the time of Lab's introduction I thought a daily competition to be the fastest was a great idea and part of the racing heritage of the game. At this point, the same dude wins all four difficulty races for both league softcore normal and SSF basically every day, and second place isn't even close, often a minute or more behind. I'm not sure how he does it, and more power to him for figuring out how to consistently murder everyone else's time, but this isn't an incentive to compete anymore, it's basically just a way for one person to print a mirror's worth of unique jewels every day since there's literally no competition in the market for them. Additionally, all the best times across all leagues are consistently Pathfinders which I have to think was not the original vision either.
    • Crazy idea: What if there was a 5th "Challenge Labyrinth" or "Insanity Labyrinth" available each day? It could have monster/Izaro difficulty in line with Uber/Eternal or could be harder. It would also have random mobs, one set of fixed mods per day just as Lab has a fixed layout per day. These would be extremely hard/obnoxious mods that would force players to adapt and run differently and would likely mean that not all characters would be capable of running every Challenge Lab. Some examples of mods: Blood Magic, Elemental or Physical Reflect, No Leech, No Regen, No Flasks, Chest Armour Disabled, Speed Limit (max x% increased move speed no matter what), No Movement Skills, Monsters Avoid X% of Projectiles, Monsters Avoid X% of Area Skills, Monsters Leave No Corpses, Monsters Hits Can't Be Evaded, Ascendancy Benefits Disabled, Added Elemental or Chaos Damage to Traps, Traps Have Additional Stun Duration, Exiles Everywhere, Area Contains Grandmasters, Rare and Unique Monsters are Possessed, Izaro And His Sidekicks Have Phylacteral Link, Traps Have Nullifier, Totems/Traps/Mines Disabled, Argus Can't Die and is everywhere, Each Darkshrine Touched Also Applies a -20% Life/ES debuff, etc. Challenge Lab rewards would either be only marginally better than Uber (maybe +1 treasure key or choice among enchantments or the couple least desirable Izaro and Silver chests pulled out of the possible pool) or limited to 1 completion per day to avoid totally replacing Uber lab and reducing the sting of days your build(s) just absolutely cannot run it. No Ascendancy points or unique Enchantments or unique items not available elsewhere would be tied to it, so it's just a fun/challenge reuse of existing content without requiring people to build for it.

Other thoughts? What would refresh/update Lab for 2019, ideally without a massive design/development effort?

Praise for "Trigger a socketed spell when you use a skill" weapon craft

    Posted: 24 Jan 2019 06:51 AM PST

I'm doing a more defensive take on Magma Orb this league (self-cast, non-crit Deadeye with Elemental Overload and lots of life regen and Acro/Phase Acro), and it felt just ok... until I crafted "Trigger a socketed spell when you use a skill" on my sceptre. This was the game-changer I didn't know I needed.

Having consistent access (once every four seconds?) to auto frenzy charges (Cold Snap), Warlord's Mark for that much-needed caster leech and bonus physical damage reduction, or defenses like Molten Shell / Immortal Call (I prefer the former in this setup with Acro) / Orb of Storms + Blind etc. is just what I needed, paired with steady gear upgrades, to get me to the highest level maps without fumbling over a silly amount of button pushes. The MVP, though? Armageddon Brand. With this in my weapon, even without damage supports, my clear speed feels much slicker.

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the changes to crafting (where's the Blood Magic staff craft?) and this league in general, but this particular craft is an affordable (3 Chaos) godsend!

Imagine if GGG introduced MTX Armour Racks. You can equip your armour MTX on it.

You could show which Armour Sets from Supporter Packs you have and generally which Armour MTX you have in your Hideout.

This would really help people who received duplicate armor from Mystery Box!!! They would put this duplicate on Armour Rack.

I think people would start buying all MTX armour sets in order to have a large Collection. Of course you need to be a true collector.

Many players already have a lot of MTX sets that they are no longer use. And it would be cool to put them in your Hideout so that other players could see them.

    I hope it was interesting!

Make Unique enemies easier to locate.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2019 08:08 AM PST

As title, I don't understand why blue packs and rare enemies are highlighted so hard that you see them from 2 screens away, while a random Chayula is hard to distinguish in the middle of a pack of white mobs. It would really help to be able to see the unique enemy from far away and move accordingly. thanks.

Please GGG, all I ask is that Neko be as consistent as all of the other masters. All we're asking for is consistency.

Apparently, if you have a lot of something. You are automatically a price fixer.

    Posted: 24 Jan 2019 10:08 AM PST

I've got (for cold hard currency, ex and c) most of my fossils from a guy on my friend list for crafting, and having crafted 2x 800es vaal regalia's I figure I should call it a day and stop so I listed my extra fossils for sale.

listing is 5 ex for 25 sanctified. which roughly translate to 30c per fossil (at 180c for 1 ex). I personally believe this is a fair price. (If it's not let me know)

    Then this: https://imgur.com/a/82wx1cu

The whole exchange just have me scratching my head.
