    Soulrend/Bane CI Occultist ideas?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 07:34 PM PST

Really want to try out the new chaos skills, and take advantage of the inherent energy leech of soulrend. Unfortunately I have never played with chaos spells or CI before so I could use some advice on which wheels I should try to get on the skill tree, along with possible unique options.

EDIT: here is my first pass at a passive tree https://pastebin.com/ErGsh5Vv. Thinking about running it with despair aura and temp chains + enfeeble linked to Bane in a 'cast socketed spell on skill use' wand

Build guides like Enki's Arc Witch?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 07:02 PM PST

Loved playing Enki's Arc Witch. Was the best and easiest build I've ever played, and I'm bad at PoE! My gear was pretty trash and I still had little issue staying alive. The guide is so greatly detailed but not difficult to understand. Looking for a new build for the Synth [3.6] league, and I would like to find another fun/cheap build with an easy to follow guide. Any class/skill other than Arc is fine.

Looking for a spark build [3.6]

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 01:31 AM PST

Hi exiles, for the upcoming league, I want to play with spark. In the past (some years ago) I had played a chaos spark conversion build. I started my search for 3.6, and I found different approach (inquisitor or occultist) I do not really know where to go.

I wonder if it could be interesting to play ES to use the new mechanics of leech?

In addition, if you have any build links (PoB, PoE Forum or Youtube) or suggestions, feel free to share.

3.6 HC Shrapnel Shot stun all content Deadeye

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 01:57 AM PST

    Hello everyone,

so since 3.6 is coming out I wanted to share my plan to actually do most of the content with as well as start the league cheap and with a blast! Tips on how to improve are always welcome.

Enough fluff, lets get to the build.

    PoB (lv 100 - 900k dps, avg hit 278k): https://pastebin.com/YTRxTC5S

    PoB (lv 93 - 760k dps, avg hit 272k): https://pastebin.com/2YtxWHwi

    How this build works:

    • Total reduced stun threshold: 109% (49% stun gem + 25% quiver + 10% boots + 15% belt + 10% passive)
      • Total effective stun thresh: 89.6% (min dmg to stun 1.04% life (from poe wiki))
    • Shaper health: ‎18 328 731
    • Min dmg needed to stun Shaper: 195k = 18328731 * 0.0106 (1.06%)
    • Average hit dmg with Bow 6L (boss) setup: 270k+

    DPS (Shaper):

    • 900k+ Shaper dps with our main dps skill (5l + stun support)

Defense layers (one tanky son of a breach):

    • 5497 Life with Hyrri's Ire, can use Kaoms for 6927 Life
    • 75% all res
    • 8K Evasion (evade chance 41%)
    • 3k Armor (Granite Flask (24% phys reduction))
    • 50% attack dodge, 40% spell dodge (75%, 74% respectively with Vaal Grace)
    • 13% less phys dmg taken (Arctic armor)
    • 10% less dmg dealt by enemies when taunted (Decoy totem)
    • Enfeeble + blasphemy aura
    • CWDT + immortal call
    • Taste of hate
    • The wise oak
    • Stun everything!

    Key unique and rare items:

    • Chin sol (for that 50% more dmg at close range)
    • Craghead -> Cragfall (need that max stun threshold roll + vaal for extra arrow)
    • Redblade tramplers (need that max stun threshold roll)
    • Rare belt with max (15%) reduced stun threshold roll
    • Collateral damage x2 threshold jewels

    Other unique and rare items:

    • Hyrri's Ire (insane damage boost, dodge and evasion is always welcome)
    • Kaoms Heart (LIFE! if you feel squishy with Hyrri's Ire)
    • The Wise Oak flask
    • Taste of Hate flask
    • Diamond flask
    • All other rare items need: life + res + stats (int and str)

    Gem setup:

    Main:

    • Bow 6L (Boss): Shrap Shot + Stun + EDwA(WED) + Ice Bite + Conc. effect + Hypothermia/Added cold dmg
    • Bow 6L (Aoe clear if lacking): same as boss just swap Conc. effect to inc AoE
    • Gloves 4L: Herald of Ash, Arctic Armour, Enfeeble + Blashphemy
    • Boots 4L: Blink arrow + Blood magic, Decoy Totem, Frost Bomb
    • Helm 4L: CWDT + Immortal call + Inc Duration + Vaal Grace
    • Swap leveling: Added cold damage (better deeps if using Kaoms than Hypothermia)

Additional Aoe Clear if not using Kaoms:

    • Body 6L: Shrap Shot + Mirage Archer + EDwA + GMP + Ice Bite + Hypothermia (175K arrow DPS, 350K cone dps)

That is it folks, any suggestions/tips/comments are welcome!

    Divine Ire Trickster

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 02:10 PM PST

I am a sucker for new stuff, and I've always enjoyed trickster in the past. With trickster changes and some new channeling support in the game, here is what I am thinking.

We definitely want full conversion. Given that divine ire is 50% conversion, the easiest way to finish it is a physical to lightning support.

When it comes to the ascendancy nodes, harness the void is friendly with conversion, as the bonus gets applied at each step. Seems like a no-brainer.

Swift killer is also an easy choice for charge generation, especially now that you get charges for channeling. Sweet.

The last two nodes to pick are the tougher ones, and I think is going to be determined by your choice of defense. Weave the arcane and patient reaper support a MoM build well. Ghost dance and escape artist will support a life based evasion character with an energy shield buffer.

Looking at the new ghost dance, my thought is that you want pumped evasion, and 'just enough' energy shield so that consuming ghost shrouds fills up your energy shield. The goal is to use energy shield as kind of a ping-ponging buffer that gets drained and filled as you get hit. Using 'out of my ass' math, maybe you want 10% to 15% of your total evasion as maximum ES? I think that trying to make this a pure energy shield character would be rough. It isn't like we have vile bastion here.

I figure a lot of the ES will come from the hat and body armor. Actual body armor probably wants to be a high evasion elder rare with life and +% spell crit. Something like the vertex, the gull, or a good high es rare for a hat.

For rings, maybe a warlord's mark and mark of the shaper. Standard spell kit.

Here is my first stab at a tree. It is hard to pick an exact standin for divine ire, and none of the other skill gems have the same properties. I am sure that once we get more gem info and PoB has support, things will change.
    https://pastebin.com/tr9XTrRk

I figure if divine ire ends up sucking, I can always switch into an ele conversion EK nova build.

Eldritch Battery and new ES leech

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 09:57 PM PST

After looking at the new ES leech support gems, I wondering how it would impact on my potential Lightning trap Tinkerskin and Eldritch battery I use ES instead of mana so I think I will always spend ES which will procs the 39% more spell damage in the gem right ? Moreover, if the leech is so good, should I go with other body armor or Tinkerskin is still good in this type.

    P/s: demi lightning trap btw

    Divine Ire Crit Questions

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 03:47 AM PST

So I'm going Crit. I have a few questions.

Say I have 100% chance to crit, should I still use Assassin's Mark for the Crit Multi, or should I use Conductivity?

Should I go with 100% Crit Chance and 550% Crit Multi, or 60% Crit Chance with 825% Crit Multi?

I figure 100% Crit chance would be really nice vs bosses and the final blast, but the extra 200+ Crit Multi sounds juicy, but it's 40% less crit.

    Spell-centric builds for Marauder/Duelist/Ranger in 3.6?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 11:55 PM PST

I consider it a creative challenge to find a decent build for these 3 classes in 3.6 that are not simply attack builds from previous leagues, seeing as they didn't receive any changes in their half of the passive tree. By decent build, I mean one where every node synergizes, with no passive tree node bonuses left to waste.

In particular, Berserker, Slayer, and Raider, of their respective classes, all have more than one node tied to attack damage bonuses, making pure spell-casting builds on them much harder to theorycraft.

I would love if there was an item that was spell-attack analog of Crown of Eyes, where you gain bonuses to spell damage based on increases to Attack Damage. Unfortunately, without this item, you have these choices:

    1. Make a spell-heavy build that takes advantage of 3.6 changes, knowing that you have wasted stats. Who knows? you may find a build that is strong enough that the pros outweigh the wasted stats.
    2. Ignore the 3.6 changes and play an attack-heavy class, simply because you like their playstyle.

Moving on from these 3, it's clear that the other 6 ascendancies in their classes have a much easier time incorporating spell builds:

    • Chieftain has natural synergies with totems and fire spells.
    • Juggernaut has many nodes offering general defensive power, and the Unyielding node has an area of effect bonus that affects most skills changed in 3.6
    • Gladiator may be left with attack speed nodes, but its global physical damage nodes makes CoC with physical damage spells a possibility.
    • Champion has a Fortify node that is strong no matter which build is considered. Alternatively, the taunt nodes give damage bonuses for any build as well.
    • Deadeye has a lot of projectile bonuses and interactions for possible Magma Orb/Fireball/etc. spells.
    • Pathfinder has flask effects that benefit any build and can choose to go for elemental or chaos spells with minimal stat waste.

I am interested to read thoughts on builds for these 3 classes. Is the pay-off of creating an "alternative" build for these more attack-inclined classes worth the effort?

    BrainDead Build for BrainDead Player

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 03:35 AM PST

    Hey ya !

First i didn't wanna play Synthesis, but finally i changed my mind and today i want to play it for the 36-Challenges-Reward. But i'm kinda tired. I played Betrayal, Delve, Incusrio, Bestiary, NON STOP.

Today, i'm looking for a braindead build, to rush the challenges for the rewards, and stop the league until the next. I need a build HYPER Safe &or HYPER Tank &or that can OS the all world. I don't want to argue myself. Just leveling, do the challenges, and stop. I need something ultra easy to play & to build.

    I don't have a prefered class btw, i played them all :)

    Thank's guys !

Getting started in as chaos witch/occ in 3.6

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 03:25 AM PST

This will be my first league start, so I have no idea how to get started more or less quickly.

    My idea is:

    - using classic leveling gems such as explosive trap, freezing pulse etc first

    - switching to ED/contagion or bane/soulrend as soon as possible

    - going CI when in lategame

I built a tree and allocated 46 points so far. It's just about getting started at first.

    Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/f8mX1c75

Do you have some advices on getting started in a new league? All kind of help is appredicated! Especially when it's about the 3L/4L link setups.

Chaos Based Uber Lab Occultist Options? Herald of Agony? ED?

    Posted: 06 Mar 2019 09:06 PM PST

I wanted to try out lab running this league as it's something I've never really focused on before. With this being the ES meta, I'm curious if there are any chaos damage ES Occultist builds that are preferred for easy/quick lab running. Most of the build guides I looked at seemed like they could easily kill Uber Izaro on budgety gear, but I'm curious if one has advantage with labbing.

The two main build types I was looking at were ED/Contagion or a Herald of Agony Rain of Arrows build. ED/Contagion seems superior for mapping ES regen and I might even try out Soulrend with ES Leech support just to see how it fares. HoA with Quill Rain and Rain of Arrows seems a little more interesting and has big damage, but doesn't seem to have consistent enough survivability to face tank.

I'd love build recommendations, including other options if there's something I'm unaware of. I know there are totem, trap and Pathfinder builds that do great on Uber Lab, but I'd love to try something chaos and ES focused.

I am thinking of starting out as a witch (like most leagues recently) and want to try out the new elemental spells as well as the buffed fireball before maybe transitioning to Chaos Occultist later? Do you think Elementalist is still a solid choice when it comes to Ele spells or is she going to be outclassed by Inquis and Trickster?

    CI/LL Crit WO Trickster

    Posted: 07 Mar 2019 02:19 AM PST

I kinda wanted to try out a crit based CI or LL trickster build with the ghost shroud defenses (and free charge generation), but I am struggling to get good dps in POB.

I went all in with the evasion using a grace aura and discipline aura, with leech from the tree and frostbite + enfeeble blasphemy, as well as planning to use the new spell aura that gives a bit of crit also (currently using wrath in the build as substitute). I plan on using the new channeling support as well as the supported more multiplier just seems too good to pass up on, and not as conditional as hypothermia (though to be honest I think this will chill anything all the time anyways).

Anyone else good some good ideas for trickster WO? Or maybe trickster is really only best for DoT? LL Inquisitor or CI Occultist should also be easy builds to do WO, but Trickster just seems more fun if I can get some alright numbers.

The Enfeeble setup could be scrapped entirely saving a bunch of nodes on the skill tree. Or run an extra elemental weakness in its place. I just like the idea of less accuracy (and damage) combined with the high evasion.

    Edit the POB ofc: https://pastebin.com/L2c31r0S
