Path of Building v1.4.132: 3.6 Skill Additions and Changes

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 04:52 AM PST

The 1.4.132 update for Path of Building is now available, containing the new and updated skills for 3.6.

This update also adds more 3.6 uniques, plus updates to item mods and crafting.

There are still some changes remaining for 3.6, including unique changes; I'll try to get those done soon.

For existing users, the update is available via the usual update system; click "Check for Update" at the bottom left if the update hasn't already been downloaded.
For anyone interested in trying the program for the first time, head to the releases page to get the installer.

If you'd like to give me something more tangible than energy, I have a Patreon page.

Fighting Kitava A10 in Softcore be like

7,000 hours later... still my biggest problem.

As is tradition, the league mechanic needs some work.

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 06:46 AM PST

Don't get me wrong, the new league is super fun. But! There's a lot to improve. What I've noticed so far:
    1. Decay speed and mosters are kinda overtuned in the beginning. That's ok as a softcore player since it's a learning experience and it feels nice to start clearing the memories, but as a HC player I would be pissed.
    2. Monsters shooting from 3 screens away with fast and deadly projectiles - this is just insane, especially for slower characters early on.
    3. Monsters waiting for you right at the start. Nothing is more fun than starting a level and instantly seeing 500 mobs and projectiles fly in your face.
    4. Fast decay, instant slowdown. Decay seems to sometimes spawn right on top of you, giving you no time to react due to the instant slow. This is especially frustrating combined with 2 and 3.
    5. Random decay, unclear pathing, unclear directions. It is enormously frustrating to run through several carefully planned memory tiles only to have your goal tile be ruined by shitty RNG: Running to A, seeing the path blocked, running back, seeing the path blocked, pathing around, seeing the path blocked, flamedashing over it, running to B - dead end, running to C - dead end - looking at the map like "where the hell am I supposed to go?!" - running to D - time is out and apart from a few minor drops on the way, you just wasted your time and tiles.

Maybe they buffed spells because of the new sick twohanded weapon.

Performance is really bad in Synthesis

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 04:34 AM PST

Performance was pretty bad in PoE ever since 3.0, but it is getting much much worse every single patch, Synthesis is no exception, my frames are all over the place when there is very little happening, I have turned most of my settings down but the game is running really bad still. Betrayal was okayish, the only real performance drops were from the Betrayal encounters, but in Synthesis the overall performance is so bad.

Anyone else disliking the new memory mechanics?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2019 10:09 AM PST

(Please, do not go full rage fan boy mode. Be civil.)

It's not explained very well. Very easy to lose items within memory. If you have a decayed area that has the four chest (1 run left), it doesnt explain that you dont have to find it first. You can search around, or the opposite. Find the chest first, but if you open them, go out and get touched by the decay all is lost? wtf. Explain this better. Just saying.

Most of all, low tier or leveling synth drops have been so underwhelming. And most times, when you actually do find 3 of a kind lol, it synthesizes into a worse item.

People complained about betrayal league, damage and ambushes etc. But for leveling, it was quite smooth and you found much more items that were of use. It was easier to figure out and fun to do it, this has been quite the opposite. If you think about it objectively.

I think this league is beautiful, and idea is awesome. Lore is super cool too. But...

(Art, writing and let us not forget music is great! Good work my GGG dudes)

    Generally speaking of course

Unleash's fundamental design is a massive success.

    Posted: 08 Mar 2019 11:57 PM PST

Unleash feels amazing. It's the best implementation of the 'hit slowly, but hit HARD' archetype in any ARPG. Being able to blast out 4 casts of a spell in the time it normally takes to cast 1.3 of them feels great. And seeing enemy health explode during your cast is awesome too.

The fundamental design is a huge success. I'm assuming it will scale well with 3 or 4 sets of spells in the lategame too, which will redefine shaper/elder items that have a bunch of built in supports. But on the off chance that it doesn't scale properly right now, numbers tweaks can be made.

I'm just so excited for this addition to the game. It's the most comprehensive new playstyle since Herald of Agony.

And you can use ANY SPELL IN THE GAME with it! This is EXACTLY what everyone has been asking for - support gems that are more than just number changes. There's so many new builds we'll be able to make with this. I love Path of Exile so much.

So congratulations GGG! Unleash is a huge success, and if you can move in this direction for future support gems, the game will only benefit! I spent about a thousand dollars on PoE over a period of 4 years, and then stopped buying anything because of how much the meta stagnated a year and a half or so ago. I'm gonna go buy a supporter pack for the first time since then.
