    Thoughts about the PS4 version of POE

    Hey, i thought this is a good place to talk about first impressions.

    My opinion is somewhat mixed. I havn't played the XBox Version, i imagine there are quite some similaries from what i read about it here - but thats not an excuse for delivering the game in this state. Generally, POE has the same feature set as on PC, so thats great. Its the game we love, with the same depth and replayability. But there are problems that tend to interfere with the experience.

    1) Auto Targeting in hub areas prioritizes players instead of NPCs, Stash boxes or Waypoints.

    This is a massive problem. Imagine having to go to a NPC, Stash box or Waypoint and hit X two times to get back to the road - only to see the entire game darken because the PS overlay opens. Instead of targeting the Waypoint you're in front of, your character had a other player in its target and now provides you with an option for a trade or his profile. You can circumvent that with using the right control stick - but its a mess, trying to go through 10 players that all stand around the object you try to interact with. It always throws you out of the immersion. GGG - pls fix

    2) Trading is a mess.

    You cant even search for a simple name. There are no parameters to add to your search. Are you looking for a cheap 4L/5L/6L chest to craft it into something usable? No problem - just scroll through dozens of pages with stuff. Looking for a unique? Well better know the base item because there is no search for a name or rarity. Trading still uses the invite-travel-trade mechanics of POE, but it just shows how clunky it is on PS4. I dont even want to know what its like if you want to trade for like red maps later on. Or trying to fix your resists with a ring that has 30% Fire and 40% Cold, Max Life and maybe a Dmg stat. GGG - pls add

    3) No subtitles.

    Even with maxed out Dialogue volume, its very hard to understand what NPCs are saying, especially if you are fighting and have loot drop sounds and your normal combat sound effects. Its impossible to hear the story of the Memory Fragments, all the dialogue from Betrayal or from the Izaro. The deep voice sounds great if you're using a Headset, but on a TV? Not everybody has an expensive home theater setup - the amount of bass is too much. A game shouldnt force a player to adjust his TV settings. This all would be fixed with the simple addition of subtitles and ...

    4) No log.

    While i dont need the "chat", its still a log for everything that happens around you. A lot of feedback of the game is given as a simple text line. There is no such thing on PS4. I tried to 4 socket a Goldrim i found, but i couldnt to that - it stopped at 3 despite me having Jewelers. So what happend is: the item level is too low. On PC, you get a neat line: "Item already has the maximum number of Sockets."

    5) Adding new active Skill gems are randomly messing with your binds.

    I can't reproduce the error, but sometimes when i add new skill gems, all of my Skill gem binds are mixed up. I used Flame Dash on Triangle and Circle, after adding Malevolence somehow they switched to Square and Cross, while my Square was on Circle and Malevolence was on Triangle. This happened maybe 3 times, but i cant really reproduce it, even with a new set of Skill gems (since - at least on PC - they save the button location in the gem).

    6) Loot doesnt get a key prompt when you're in a fight.

    So that may sound strange but you cant really pick up loot when there are enemies around. Even if i leave my Cross button unbound, the auto targeting will not switch so i can pick up the item in front of me. Instead i have to kill the enemy. I dont know if that happens with all abilities, it happened with Frost Blades, Bane and Soulrend. This problem is especially bad if you have any ranged skill on Cross - because the skill gets priority. Always adjusting your target with the right stick is just clunky.

    7) Crashes.

    I dont know what happened, but POE is not stable. I had 3 crashes in my first 4 hours of play. Games crashing on a console is something that should not happen - ever. I want to stress that a completely new player will probably not be resuming with the game after this amount of crashes. Not to sure what causes them, since i was still leveling without any modifiers or stuff like Betrayal.

    8) No Predictive mode.

    While this may not be the biggest issue, a LOT of players do not have a good - stable - internet connection. I know several players who enjoy the game - but cant play in Lockstep because its unplayble for them. Even small amounts of paket loss are causing huge slow downs. You all know about the frequent posts about the brazilian or european gateways. It's not entirely on the GGG servers - if the connection is bad, you cant do anything to improve it. This shouldn't be an issue. GGG - pls fix

    9) Bad button combinations.

    Sooo ... i understand that you want to stop players from accidentally deleting items. But having to press Cross and Triangle is very inconvenient. The same is true if you want to Highlight something. Pressing something on the DPad and L3? How am i supposed to do that without growing another finger. Wouldnt it be easier to change that to R3? There are a couple more that feel clunky, like trying to craft something in the Menagerie, or plan your memory nexus route ahead.

    10) MTX Store prices.

    Its a bad topic but i simply cant imagine why these are so much more expensive. Lets take the 30$ League packs. They are 30 US, or 26.65 Euro if you're buying them in the EU - but having to pay 35.99 Euro in the PS Store is a 35% markup. For the same stuff. I am well aware that PS takes a cut. But its pure digital content. Its not like the packs in the store had to be created new. Isnt it possible that GGG reduces the price to a more similar total amount? I did not check elsewhere but i guess there are other countries that will be fleeced even more (UK, Australia for example).

    So yeah ... that are my main problems with the PS4 Version right now. All of these are fixable. But has GGG the will to do it?

    We all know trade is a fundamental part of the ARPG genre. Coming from a D2 background, I have lived through the era of D2 bot hosted Baal (Boss) Runs. I have gone through the process of making trade lobby's advertising my wares from said runs. Sometimes PvP would break out randomly just outside of town (eRm Bring Back Battle Royale ErM). So when Blizzard (now more commonly known as Activison) announced their Auction House I was elated.

    You may have heard players say that the 1st few months of D3 were the best, the loot was insanely hard to come by making every single item in the last 2 acts of difficulty insanely valuable. The monsters were dialed up to eleven making the gear hurdle feel even more profound. This wasn't Hardcore or SSF, it was HELL mode. Possibly more important, the RMAH wasn't Live the first few months of D3's launch; only the Gold Auction House was running during those glorious 90 days. Of course, Chinese gold sellers/botters do what they do and alot of real money was funneled through shady gold seller sites. So here's the crux: Blizzard's RMAH was plugging a market leak; although we know in today's loot box infested market Activision's core actions are disingenuous when it comes to their player base, securing their transactions seemed like a good move towards 'securing' their players real life money. Of course, it could easily be interpreted as a traditional cash grab/money run today.

    So why bring this repetitive topic up once again and how does it relate to the current state of PoE? Well, D3 could be a very different game today if it only had the Gold Auction House as a conduit for player trade and held the player's interests at heart, not it's investors. PoE can accomplish the same feat in regards to player trade. Simply stating in a development manifesto that getting in the way of progression is the best solution is completely counterproductive to the essence of humanity (not to sound melodramatic). We are living in a world where electric vehicles became relevant 9 years ago and in another 9 years we plan on driving them on Mars, where AI is currently scraping every bit of information and robotics are using that data to accomplish and surpass limits of the human body and intellectual processes but we still can't compromise on advancing trade.

    For the sake of progression, maybe we can meet in the middle? All details are open for iteration and improvement.

    - Imagine Cadiro in your hideout with his Perandus Chest(s).

    Potential Player Browsing Your Linked Public Trade Tab

    - To link your Trade Tab to Cadiro's Chest(s) just use the same drop down menu used to make the stash public and select 'PH: Cadiro Chest 1'

    - The UI for purchasing from Cadiro already exists. I was leaning towards allowing the player to set the currency type for their wares (i.e. Exalts, Chaos, Alcs) but if players feel this could be a good Perandus Coin sink, i'm open to it (it's just not my 1st choice).

    Ex: Player Buying A Headhunter From Another Player's Public Stash

    There obviously needs to be ground rules to allow a system such as this to work for players and not break the economy and the game along with it.

    - A system like this greatly improves players mapping experiences instead of spamming 20 traders to take their time for a 1 alc trade

    - Player's who play across multiple leagues could have 1 Cadiro Public Chest in Standard while also playing the temp league and having a Cadiro Public Chest there as well

    - The Guild Stash already accomplishes this in essence, all that's needed is meshing the Cadiro 'locked item' feature

    Additional Information On Cadiro Public Chests (community feedback/suggestions welcome):

    - Currency cannot be sold in public chests to prevent auto currency flipping

    - Similar to current Public Stash Tabs, Cadiro's Public Chest's would only list the items when the seller is online

    - the amount/size of Cadiro Chests or their Art could vary from the size of a single stash tab or a quad tab

    - GGG can make MTX's for Cadiro's Chests netting them more loot in their pockets too

    Likely more revisions to come.

    PSA:SSC exalts are passing 150c, but poe trade sorts by price based on them being ~100c

    If you're buying an item in the 100c+ range always check the offers listed later than ones listed in exalts, they may be much cheaper.

    Loot from 500 Endgame Labyrinth Chests.

    Just finished this Endgame Grind. Did it over the recent three days. We had good Layouts so it did not take too long.

    It took about 10 hours of playing to complete the 75 Labyrinths I required. That means I got 6.66 Keys per run. I always grabbed 6 Keys and got a few from the occasional Darkshrine on the way or Chest at the end. I did not do Silver Chests and skipped Darkshrines if they were not on my way and did not go for Labyrinth Troves. I also did not buy Twice Enchanted prophecies.

    Here is a breakdown of what was in my tab at the end:

    I sold all gems to vendors/players (whichever was better) and sold the Enchantments I got (exclusively ilvl86 Hubris Circlet). There were three Enchants that I sold for around 1 Exalted each and I dropped 3 Exalted while running. The rest of the pure Chaos is from Divination Cards or Uniques that I sold. Nothing here is very much notable (no more than 1 Exalted per item). I only used 35 Offerings because I got so many from the chests and the cost is already included in the table.

    This totals to 2584 Chaos or 18 Exalted. That is 0.24 Exalted per run or 35 Chaos. Considering it took me around 10 hours to complete this (including some selling and buying stuff) it means that it took me 8 minutes per run, which means that I made roughly 263 Chaos per hour. Of course this does not include the time to price and sell the items but the real value is well above 200 Chaos/hour for sure. I paid 2 Exalted for my character (because I wanted a good Starforge). No 6 links required, no other expensive gear required.

    Leap Slam has 4.58 Attacks per Second with this build. It is insanely fast and also really funny.
