    [HC]Hardcore is so goddamn good.

    Posted: 02 May 2019 09:01 AM PDT

I can't get enough of hardcore. I traditionally played softcore, and even went back to it after being frustrated with a few deaths in hardcore. But that will never happen again. Everything I did on SC became so bland. I've now seen the light of HC. Items matter. Leveling gear is always worth something. Uniques that spill freely over the SC market, find value in HC where items are constantly leaving the league in body bags. Every fight is such an achievement. A flicker of the health bar sends your heart racing. Trading to get gear you need is HARD. And not because prices are ballooned infinitely, but because there's far less people, far less items. You can't just get through content by corpse slamming it. In SC it's always about completing ALL the content there is, or until you're bored. And everyone is always complaining about getting burnt out on it. I have your answer. It's death. Die. PoE is so unforgiving. You can feel so strong, so powerful, and get stat checked right to standard. Completing ALL the content is so incredibly difficult that it's not even part of the HC experience. You're just trying to survive the day. I know it's not everyone's flavor. And I bet a ton of people talk themselves out of it after one death or maybe even two, or maybe even without even trying it. But it's so friggin good it's crazy. I love it so damn much. And I want other people to share this love with me. I've made more characters in the last 6 months than I've made in the last 6 years. I've been forced to learn so much more than I normally would. And I've enjoyed myself so so so much more. I wish HC got a little bit more attention, I know we're just the fringe of the player base, but HC really feels like how the game was meant to be played. I'd love to hear how other people feel about it. Tell me why you love hardcore, or why you don't.

Even with Synthesis not going Core in 3.7 a Master overhaul is still very much needed.

    Posted: 02 May 2019 08:00 AM PDT

Before the announcement from Chris i was expecting to have a new atlas event for Synthesis in the next league and i really didn't like the idea.
The reason isn't that i dislike Synthesis, i actually think that with some tweaks it could be a great addition to the game, but that there is just too much stuff to do that is breaking the flow of the game.
There are too many events that will force you to stop what you are doing and engage with something else, like completing the incursions, capping sulphite, reaching 100% intelligence for a safehouse, capping memories (not for long).
Of course i could just ignore events i don't like but that leaves me with the sour taste of missing out.
Like /u/slipperyjim8 said in a rant a few days ago it just doesn't feel good to be forced to do something you don't feel like doing at that time because of hard caps. Now this is tolerable if there are only a small number of such interruptions but as things progress and new stuff is added to the rotation things only get worse.
Another big problem is that some of the content isn't actually good to get in small doses. I get that past content shouldn't be as prominent as the active league but still there should be ways to increase the odds if you want to farm a particular one.
Delve is actually in a decent place since you can raise the sulphite cap to a reasonable amount without too much effort and you have multiple ways to target farm sulphite (random occurrences, atlas events, scarabs and scarab rotations, prophecies) but other events like the syndicate are only gated by RNG (prophecies being the only way to get more of it and they were going for insane prices) and the events being buggy as hell didn't help one bit.
Synthesis in the worst offender so far, since you can't ignore it for too long with a limit of 10 memories and when you engage with it the time investment is huge compared to a similar event like incursions/temple.

In my opinion the best solution to reduce this cluttering of "chores" to do is to have a way of "sealing" masters on the atlas. If you seal a master you will get way less random occurrences and you won't get anymore the atlas events but in exchange you get higher chance of finding random occurrences and getting atlas events for masters you didn't seal. maybe with a diminishing return as you seal more of them: eg you get 1% extra chance of getting an atlas event for each master you seal, with zero sealed masters you have 20% (5 masters with 4% each, this is the current chance), with one sealed master you would still have 20% (4 masters with 5% each), but if you seal two masters the chance would be 18% (3 masters with 6% each), 14% if you seal 3 (2 masters with 7% each) and 8% if you only leave one active.
I think this could be alonge the lines of the alignment system that /u/TarkeCat has been suggesting for a while.

How hard do you think we will get flexed on with 4.0?

    Posted: 02 May 2019 08:12 AM PDT

i heard Chris say that 4.0 is supposed to compete with the theoretical Diablo4(rip)

im not gonna get my expectations too high and think that the quality of the graphics, animations and combat would reach something like Lost Arks(maybe the only competition PoE will have?), but GGG are nuts so who knows lol.

Wanna start a new Char but Winter Orb spoiled me. Everything else just looks worse compared. Any ideas?

    Posted: 02 May 2019 07:25 AM PDT

Haven't played in a month or so and I feel like a wanna level and gear up a new char. The thing is that all the guides that i check out seem super interesting but when i get to some YouTube gameplay I always think "wow this is so much slower/ much weaker/much complicated than WO" and I straight away drop my interest.

I have to mention that this is my second league and I have tried maybe 5 different builds so far.

What are your thoughts? I feel like Winter Orbs advantages are hard to reach with any of other skills.

Can you give me some input on what other builds are comparable in terms of clear speed and simplicity?

    Cheers

Just had the best experience so far in Path of Exile and it cost me 100C

    Posted: 01 May 2019 09:59 PM PDT

So I'm (pretty) new to this game (I mean it's all relative right?). I played breach a few years ago but I didn't get very far into the league (84 or so, didn't even buy a premium tab and I hadn't played since), but I've been super into this league. I googled a really simple build to play since I still felt super new to the game and didn't trust my ability to play a build that relied on being able to dodge anything so I'm playing a molten strike juggernaut. I got a super lucky drop in the beginning of the league (elder helmet with literally every mod [mind u with low rolls] that is suggested) and I've been grinding and trying to learn as I go. I'm coming from Diablo 3 so the amount of end game content is somewhat overwhelming but I'm learning the mechanics as I go. Over the course of this league I say I've farmed/sold (finally dipped my toe into selling stuff but haven't made a ton) and I'd say I've made (or found) a total of 10 exalts this league (4 drops and the rest selling).

The absolute highlight of this league though was tonight when I was accidentally in global chat and saw some guy ask if anyone could explain to him how to trade since he just hit 70 and felt like he should probably figure it out. I hit him up and asked if anyone had explained shit to him and they hadn't so I did what I could (mostly linked him youtube videos I had used to learn). Then I thought, fuck it, I'll invite him and throw him 100c since I was sitting on about 400 and my buddy had helped me. Then I see he is the same build as me!! I don't know why but I felt such a shared experience in that moment I was like, hold up dude, lemme give u my old elder helm I was trying to sell for two exalts and buy you a Kaom's Heart with the currency I just gave you.

I'm not trying to share this so people are wowed by my generosity or anything (and I realize this was probably peanuts to what some of y'all might give away or whatever), I just wanted to share this because the guy was super grateful and it's honestly the most rewarding moment I've had in the game. I literally just downed shaper for the first time and that was nothing compared to helping this guy out. He was super grateful and I told him that the best way he could thank me was getting his character to 90. I dunno, it was just a moment that felt right and I wanted to share it with y'all, I guess in the hopes that you spread the love. I just put myself in his shoes when he sent that question about trading out into the ether and if he hadn't gotten a response, I dunno, maybe he wouldn't continue with the game? I was lucky enough to have a buddy to walk me through a lot of shit in this game, so I just wanted this guy to have the same, even if I'm far from the best mentor because I'm still figuring out a lot. Thanks for reading if u got here, take care folks.

TLDR: Did a good thing, hope I helped the community, love this game even though I'm new to it.

How would you feel about a 4-month league schedule vs. the current 3-month?

    Posted: 02 May 2019 08:39 AM PDT

I saw so many comments on Chris' last post about how they need to overwork their employees to have a good product to sell. And people were outraged that Chris didn't explain how he plans on running his business while giving their employees only 40hr work weeks.

I personally think they can make a good product and easing the stress by reducing their crunch times.

A lot of their problems can be avoided by pushing back releases a few weeks. I personally don't care if a league lasts 4 months instead of 3. I'd rather have 3 polished leagues than 4 crappier ones. They're gonna keep my business either way. I'm still gonna buy the same amount of MTX, etc etc

I stopped playing Synthesis after two weeks because of the tedious mechanics. I got one character to Level 82 and stopped after that. It got dull very quick and I haven't spent another penny since.

I played Breach for two months straight. And spent hundreds of dollars (unfortunately lol). Polished leagues will keep me hooked longer, thus giving me more incentive to buy things. Granted this is all personal opinion, and some people may rather see quantity over quality. But I particularly disagree.

Edit: Jfc y'all are a bunch of fiends who need their PoE fix - no ifs, ands, or buts. You guys truly don't care about the well-being of other people. Y'all do know that games aren't created out of thin air right? Like there are actual people that work on them. And these people have families and lives outside of GGG. Just because you don't leave the house and spend every second on PoE doesn't mean they need to as well.

    [Suggestion]Map Fragments As Full Sets

    Posted: 02 May 2019 12:28 PM PDT

As I continue my miserable journey towards Celestial Hideout, I found once again that pathofexile.com/trade still lacks some functionality, in this case support for indexing full sets, such as sac set, mortal, shaper and pale court.

In paper it exists, in reality it does nothing, resulting in 0 matches across all leagues.

    My suggestion is the following:

Vendor recipe to sell 4 pieces for one solid 2x2 set as one piece, and sell this piece for 4 separate pieces back.

    The benefits:

    • As it will be separate piece, you could index it on trade site
    • Less clicks when you sell sets in bulk, and place it in inventory/map device
    • Aesthetically better looking, source files of solid sets in pathofexile.com/trade looking really good, why not use them?

For the sake of fragment tab you can make that these sets wont stack, so it will still occupy same amount of space.

I think this suggestion will be good QOL for many people, especially who would like to run a lot of sets.

Bugged boss node in nexus not despawning?

    Posted: 02 May 2019 01:14 PM PDT

Killed a boss in nexus and tped out from the zone as usual. Had to go afk for a bit and after returning back ran a memory in map. Checked nexus, saw 1/1 boss (didnt realize that it was the previous boss which i forgot to respawn since the path to it decayed as it was only 1 use nodes). Pathed to the boss again, only to enter the boss room and see it had tps open. Sure enough it was the same boss.

Tped out and tried to despawn it as usual, however the node wouldnt decay. Tried placing and running new nodes, having them fully decay, logging out, restarting game, everything i can think of, but the boss node is still there with 0 tps now (used all of them to see if it would decay) and i cant do anything about it.

    Any help?

EDIT: somehow when i pathed to it for a third time i could open portals again, and run it? WTF?

Every Christmas should just be a simple league, if we are going to keep seeing "we didn't have enough time because of Christmas"

    Posted: 01 May 2019 03:23 PM PDT

I feel like we are dangerously close to reaching blizzard levels of "we don't WANT the final tier of every xpac to last a year" but then for the next 8 xpacs the final tier lasts a year. We've been hearing for a while now that "Christmas season has made it so we didn't have enough time to fine tune a league". And if I'm going to be honest, most, if not all the leagues feel like they just didn't have enough time.
