    Softcore Timeless Jewel Auction

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 06:59 AM PDT

Hey! I will be doing another Timeless Jewel Auction THIS TIME ON SOFTCORE! You guys asked for it so here it is! On July 12th at 3pm BST -> A Countdown can be found here: http://bit.ly/ZizAuctionCountdown1

You can view the highlights from the first one here: https://youtu.be/Ci4BkvN-dwU and second one here: https://youtu.be/mQhePYJx6Z8

This time with a lot more effort! You can view the Stats of the Jewels in the auction here: http://bit.ly/SCZizAuction . More Jewels + Clips will become available as we have time to edit everything in.

To join the Auction as a Bidder: Simply message my mod or myself, @ViyroAuction / @Zizaran in game and give a 5ex Deposit. After that message Viyro/MrMadakey in my discord here: http://discord.gg/Zizaran . You will be invited in to a private discord text channel to bid (#auction) . You will get your deposit back after the auction, but you can use your deposit to bid in the auction. We are keeping track of all of the bidders etc in a seperate google doc.

To join the Auction as a Seller: Message me @Zizaran in game to view your jewel. Make sure you already know where its good so I can simply imput it in to the Google Doc after I check it myself. If you would like to supply a paint img of your jewel for people to view on the doc itself message @Viyro in my discord. There are limited slots here: (15 total, may do a couple more) so I am being picky on what I accept atm.

    Rules:

NOTE: If at any time you break one of these rules, you forfeit your deposit and will not be invited back in future auctions.

Seller (Me) Takes 10% of Sale Cut

5 Ex Deposit for Bidders: You may use this as part of your bid and will recieve it back after the Auction ends

Buyer will pay the amount bid directly after the Jewel Sells

IF you are participating in Bidding and selling a jewel - You may not under any circumstance bid on your own jewel to raise the price.

Bidding in Discord will ONLY be done in Exalts and Chaos (In Decimals). The current price at the time of the Auction will be used. IE: Exalts:Chaos - 1:170 - Bid: 5.5 = 5 Ex + 85c. This price will obviously change and will be supplied at the start of the auction to the bidders.

GGG, what's the point of Niko selling Glyphic fossils for 1 million azurite?

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 08:52 AM PDT

I understand that some fossils are rarer than others, but 1 million azurite is not really something that 99.9999% of the players will ever have in League. Sure maybe the depth 1000+ delvers have that but there are probably less than 100 people doing that.

Regardless, I think this is kind of weird and possibly pointless to have these fossils be so expensive considering they are only 35c on the trade market anyway.

[Serious] A melee rant from a veteran player who mainly plays melee

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 07:01 PM PDT

So in case you weren't aware, there's a website called poe.ninja, on this website you can view builds across all active leagues. If you go and have a peek, you'll notice that 50% of the player base across both SC Legion, HC Legion, SSF Legion, SSF HC Legion are playing cyclone. This might not be a big deal to you, but its actually incredible. The fact that GGG developed a patch where 75% of the player base was only using two abilities blows my mind, how did they not predict this happening, are they just okay with it?

This was supposed to be the 'Melee League', yet theres 3-4 abilities really actually being played. Sure, you can say "but I am doing glacial hammer, what are you talking about?", but thats what you're doing. What the rest of the player base is doing is either: 50% Cyclone, 4% Bladestorm, 3% Earthquake, 3% Lacerate. Nothing else is really viable, and by viable I mean, its not even close to the same level as Cyclone.

Now instead of just stating some statistics and my opinion, I am going to try and give you a solid example of why Cyclone is such an easy choice.

I wanted to play Vaal Double Strike, using regular Double Strike as my main ability. My links would be: Double Strike - Melee Splash - Ancestral Call - Pulverise - Fortify - Impale/Melee Phys/Whatever

So that seems fine right? It's not. I have to include Ancestral Call and Melee Splash in my 6l, drastically reducing my damage, Cyclone doesn't have this problem. You can link 5 50% more multipliers to it, including infused channeling, giving you reduced damage taken. It also scales impale, allows to you to move and has AoE scaled by melee weapon range.

Another thing that was dumpstered this patch, Multistrike. A Gladiator with 10 challenger charges, ~115 nodes and two 1.8-2.0 one handed swords reaches an IAS breakpoint of ~6.7-7.8 attacks per second with multistrike linked now(tested with double strike.) Not only is this drastically less than before(11-13 attacks per second), the new animation canceling update completely wonks everything involved with multistrike. I cannot stress enough to you how much I hate this update, no one asked for it, it wasn't properly tested, they just threw it at us. I consider it to be the opposite of Lockstep, which I consider the greatest update the game has ever seen.

TL;DR multistrike is dog shit, cyclone is too good, ancestral call and melee splash punish you for using them, bad balance decisions by GGG, again

Hopefully melee gets some REAL LOVE in 3.8, because this was the Cyclone league.

It seems like Mana has been getting worse every patch for a while now...

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 08:02 AM PDT

At this point, it seems like Mind over Matter exists only to enable Eldrich Battery. The number of builds where it makes sense to actually build for mana has been dwindling with every patch since its peak in Delve. I think a lot of this has to do with the new reservation skills that were introduced, but it's also been affected by unique item and Ascendancy balance.

    In Patch 3.5:

Energy Shield Recharge is no longer interrupted by non-damage changes to your Life or Energy Shield, such as when you spend your Energy Shield on skills via Eldritch Battery. Eldritch Battery now causes you to have 50% less Energy Shield Recharge Rate.

EB (without MoM) gets a default 10% regeneration rate! Compare this to Mana's 1.75% regeneration rate which has to be scaled with major investment. Now you can reserve all of your mana AND spam your skills with significantly less investment.

Indigon is nerfed, hurting one of the main reasons to build for mana. Personally, I wasn't opposed to the idea of the nerf because of how ridiculous Indigon was in Delve, but the nerf was too heavy handed. The juice is no longer worth the squeeze, especially when the juice is capped but the squeeze is not.

Betrayal also introduced The Devouring Diadem. To make matters worse for Mana vs EB, this helm removes the significant point investment some builds would have to make to reach EB, gives a huge amount of recovery with recharge/instant heal, and then gives EB builds room for another reservation skill, as if mana builds weren't already lagging far behind in this regard.

Speaking of reservations, 3.6 introduced Zealotry. While before some builds like lightning casters could justify using a Essence Worm with their 1 damage aura and forgoing other weaker reservations like Heralds, the introduction of another big damage reservation that could be slotted into almost any spell build made this option less appealing. Hatred was also changed to include a more multiplier for cold damage, so yet another build has less reason to have unreserved mana.

3.6 also included huge buffs to energy shield recovery and nothing but nerfs to mana recovery. Casters got energy shield leech all over the tree, and a powerful support gem giving both leech and damage. The Inquisitor Ascendancy also received a large amount of ES regen, for even more synergy with EB. Meanwhile, one of the strongest forms of mana recovery, the Inquisitor's whopping 6% base mana regeneration, was replaced with a measly 15 mana/s!

Things didn't get any better in 3.7. We got another insanely powerful and generic reservation in the form of Flesh and Stone, with its blind aura and 11% less damage taken. With Aspect of the Spider costing a mere 20c I can't think of a single build that couldn't easily reserve all of its mana with useful auras. Mana leech for spells got removed for Warlord's Mark. Wicked Ward is now on the passive tree.

I was really interested in making a build around the new Agnostic keystone, but the opportunity cost of losing all your auras in addition to the cost of significant investment into mana makes it incredibly hard to justify. The only builds I can think of that can reasonably take advantage of scaling mana are ice nova, with its synergy with the absolutely busted Pledge of Hands, and Mana guardian, which just uses mana as an alternative way of scaling energy shield. Something needs to be done to make mana more worth using, there are so many interesting items and interactions that are shelved because of the issues that mana based builds have right now.

Why is Stacked Deck so rare outside of Legion encounters?

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 10:12 AM PDT

If I recall correctly, the original intention was for its results to be weighted more evenly, giving you a higher chance to get something good; instead, it launched with the normal Gambler-type weighting and unless they've changed it back it has that weighting to this day. If it had actually launched with the adjusted weighting, I'd understand not wanting an easy source of high-value cards floating around, but is "a full set of The Gambler" really so powerful as to warrant a rarity on the order of an Orb of Annulment? Why isn't it more common in the base game?

Does anyone else play the game as it's presented, without all the league content / map strategies?

    Posted: 11 Jul 2019 09:35 AM PDT

I see a lot of posts about people who cant sustain their maps right, dont have enough sulphite to delve, cannot set up their betrayal houses correctly etc.

I think why I love this game so much is because there is so much to do. I usually complete my atlas as much as I can, then just play the content that's gets presented to me. Uber elder when I can, shaper with spare sets, temple when they are ready, delving, beasts, etc. I know some of it is luck but even with no strategy just having fun I've made 50-60 Exalts this league so far(profit). I just dont know how some people can have fun playing when they treat the game like a job
