Request for Feedback about Item Showcase/Scam Warning Posts

    Posted: 10 Aug 2019 11:45 AM PDT

Hello, fellow exiles! It's your friendly neighborhood /r/pathofexile mod team.

We've been having some conversations internally about the way we organize and tag current content you see on the subreddit. We want to ask specifically about two different posts we deal with daily:

    1) Item Showcase Posts - Our current policy is "Crafted rares, and cool rewards from current league content are fine; everything else is not." These posts are hard to moderate because there are large numbers of them, and an item that is special to one person is vendor trash to another.

Should we allow all item showcase posts and enable the community to moderate? Or would you prefer stricter moderation as to what we allow to reach the sub? Currently, some of the things we explicitly remove include Watcher's Eyes, Ventor's Gambles, and corruptions (both Vaal Orbs and Temple). Please see the list provided in the Wiki under "Low Effort" for more examples of currently unacceptable content.

    2) Scammer Warning Posts - These posts are also hard because they tend to be repetitive and annoying to veteran players. We currently allow them because of a strong desire within the community to have a place to warn others about scams (especially since in-game chat and pathofexile.com do not allow naming scammers).

We are considering adding a "Cautionary Tale" flair, meant to be used for primarily scammer posts but also frequent unrelated content such as HC deaths or crafting fails. Flairs like these allow mods to have a more clearcut choice, while also enabling RES users to hide posts they do not want to see. However, this is not useful for users not using RES or a mobile app that can filter flairs.

    Please vote here: https://forms.gle/TQK8BCMCu7n4cnCg6

Also, feel free to use this thread if you have any other input about rules or moderation of the sub here. We're always open to constructive feedback!

If you'd prefer we're always available on Discord as well, along with hundreds of friendly exiles, who are ready to chat about anything.

We'll leave the poll open for a week and let you all know the results.

Thanks for everything, and all the great content you all submit.

I hope 3.8 and beyond continues the trend of 'anywhere can drop anything'.

    Posted: 10 Aug 2019 01:37 AM PDT

It's been said countless times but as we approach 3.8, I'd love to reiterate how much I love PoE when I can engage in the league mechanic and get variety of loot. From stacked decks, to random prophecies, to veiled items, or 6 linked uniques, to all kind of currency, or bases, some enchanted. This is excluding stuffs dropped from incubators, which further adds to that sense of 'anywhere can drop anything'. But, incubators is another topic for another day and I think overall incubators are interesting addition to the game, but it's something I can live without in the future.

What I would love GGG to keep doing when it comes to league mechanic is allowing the mechanic to expose players to other league mechanics from the past by dropping loot related those, which is largely what Legion excels in doing. As somebody who likes playing in SSF, random 6 linked uniques drop from Legion (and Delve) are particularly awesome because I can honestly keep making new builds based on these if they're good, or at least be interesting upgrade over the old Tabula. Stacked decks has also seen a lot more in Legion and I think it's really fun to open these, or you can sell for profit. I also love that sealed prophecies are dropped just like that. Manually spamming prophecies are not fun, so getting them as drop is actually fantastic and make them more usable, at least for me.

So overall, Legion may not have the deepest endgame or complex league mechanic, it did these things right and the challenge is still not compromised, as some legion rares can be tough especially when fought together in a crowd in high red maps, so risk vs reward aspect was also handled well. The mechanic does heavily favor certain skill archetype (namelock melee for instance is largely biased against compared to some ranged builds for example). And also unfortunately Legion once again fell into the trap of low level grinding being the largely most optimal way to earn currency. Therefore, Legion is not perfect but it is fun for many other reasons, and make mapping for the first time since Delve actually equally if not more rewarding than Delving.

With that said, personally I'm ready for something a little complex again after Legion which acted as a nice refresher after Synthesis. Just hopefully GGG keeps the same mentality of league mechanic capable of dropping huge variety of loot.

Make Prophecies "The Hardened Armour" and "The Jeweler's Touch" give 30% quality

    Posted: 10 Aug 2019 07:14 AM PDT

    Hey,

so I wondered and thought about that the prohecies that give armour/weapon 20% quality with a single use of their respective currency should instead make it 30% quality. With some tweaks to their rarity, I think this would make a good addition to the game and finally give these two prophecies some value.

What do you think? Would it be too strong/too easy to get 30% quality that way?

I'm stuck in a car for a few hours so I figure'd I'd make an A.M.A. I'm Path of Matth, I do youtube on mostly all currency generating stuff. Eithet way, I farmed around 30 mirrors in Legion until I quit playing about 3 weeks ago. Ask me anything, until I arrive to my destination, I'll be answering to the best of my ability!
